An attractive property Thoughtfully developed as a holiday retreat Cosy and comfortable Well equipped and a lovely place to relax in
Willy and Bill made us feel very welcome. The wing was very comfortable. The grounds are amazing. Lots to see. Will be coming back next year.
We had a very enjoyable week in Isay cottage this month, which was warm and cosy for our stay. The cottage is superbly equipped - probably the best ever in many years of cottage rentals - and located in the ideal Waternish location.. Thanks to Islands and Islands Cottages for excellent and responsive customer service from the start - including arranging for a local plumber to come within a couple of hours to check the boiler.
Lovely well kept cottage for two in a quite location looking towards loch. Plenty of utensils, crockery, towels etc provided (more than enough two people) as well as logs and kindling and a small library to spend a few hours reading. Met the owners who are a lovely helpful couple and live close to the cottage. A welcome bottle of prosecco, sweets and shortbread ready for you when you arrive. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who wants to stay on Skye
We arrived to the warmest of welcomes by the owners, who had decorated the cottage for Christmas displaying a passion and attention to detail we were overwhelmed by. Our stay was magical and the opportunity to come back home, after long days exploring the Isle of Skye, to such a warm and wonderful cottage with it's thoroughly special location was beyond compare.
This is an awesome place and we really loved our stay in this village. It's literally few miles from isle of Skye and that helped us to plan a few hours trip with in Skye to differebt places on daily basis. Highly recommend this cottage to everyone , cottage is fully furnished and simple awesome
We had a wondeful week at this cottage. It is a very nice, clean, comfortable, and peaceful cottage. It is in a very good condition. We slept like logs and had invigourating showers in the morning. It has wonderful views across the loch from the seating outside. We would spend the day watching the tide coming in and out, and watching the sheep as they formed lines as they wandered around at low tide. There is plenty to explore - a ruined church and graveyard up the track a bit, further up there is a fishermans hut. I walked around Glen Brittle forest. Graham cycled round it. Eynort is close t...more
This is a fabulous cottage, the views are stunning , the cottage is lovely every home comfort, lovely and clean, comfortable beds , roomy house, car parking , there is only one negative , you have to leave when your holiday over. Thank you for a lovely holiday.
....like the Carlsberg slogan. We’ve stayed in all sorts of gites in France and Greece. Self catering in the UK from Cornwall to the Hebrides. We’ve stayed in four of the chalets in Ord in the 30 or so years since Cabin Holidays built them. McKinnon is simply the best. One simple trick....painting the interior white...makes it feel so much more light and spacious than the others on the site. The wood-burning stove is a welcoming gem. All the equipment and furnishing is quality. And the really smart finishing touch. Flowers and cake to greet you when you arrive. Lovely, all of it. Oh...it has s...more
We had just a lovely week at this fabulous cottage. The cottage is so very comfortable and has everything you could ever need while away from home. The location is wonderful and a great base to explore the best Skye has to offer. We would love to come back to this spot and we really didn't want to leave. It's a very special place.
We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Tidal Cottage for our honeymoon. The cottage was very well equipped, comfortable, cosy and really nicely presented. Many of the windows have amazing views out over the bay, including from the roll top bath! We hope to stay again, perhaps during the summer next time, so we can enjoy having a bbq outside and making the most of the beautiful views on an evening!
The apartment is cozy, well laid out, and has all of the comforts of home. The kitchen is well-stocked with utensils, pots, pans, etc, there's a nice large dining table for meals, the bathroom is huge and has a nice rain shower, and the bedrooms are quite comfy. It's just a short walk to the main square in Portree with restaurants and shops. This is great, but sometimes it means that other shoppers will use the unit's dedicated parking space during the day. We found that people would only occupy the space for a short time, so it was easy enough to park in the pay lot adjacent to the apartme...more
WOW! From the moment we walked through the door we were amazed. Of course the view is the center stage of this cottage but I can't say enough about how wonderful the unit itself is. They have done an excellent job of making a modern facility that is very complete. We had a very relaxing time enjoying the quiet comfort including a selection of music to add to the experience. One note for travelers is that it is remote so best to pick up a few supplies before reaching the island or go through Portree. We arrived a day late on Sunday and found many things closed but there was a convenience store ...more
A very pleasant stay here - well appointed and many nice homely touches. There is more than a surplus of cutlery and crockery. Comfortable beds. Very useful having two loos.
4 of us had a fantastic week staying in Alderburn House in September. The house is very comfortable, well equipped and warm - the underfloor heating in the kitchen particularlly cosy, We appreciated the milk, hot drinks and biscuits left to welcome us. The walk to the Coop just a few mintues away was a pleasure with beautiful views out to the harbour below, and the Coop was well stocked with everything we needed. Plenty of places to eat out within easy walking distance. We enjoyed walks with stunning views both nearby and further affield. I particularly appreciated the help from Islands and...more
Perfect views. Friendly hosts. Comfortable croft. Would recommend it. Main food shops in portree. So stock up before you come to croft.
Laura
This lovely cottage was perfect for our one week stay. It was roomy, clean, and charming. Beautiful walks in the mountains and bus trips to Quiraing and Dunvegan Castle were our highlight. We did not have a car but we had a wonderful experience in the highlands. Highly recommend.
Lovely property in the best location on the island. Lots of wildlife, beautiful scenery and close to two of the most famous walks on Skye - the old man of storr, and the quiraing. This was our 2nd visit to Alans house and won't be our last. Myself and my other half are now considering Skye as a permanent residence for ourselves. Wish us luck!
Really enjoyed my stay the owners made us feel very welcome. The cottage is 2 mins from the square in Portree . Recommended
This cottage was well equipped and very comfortable and warm and definitely good value for money. It was a shame that the hedge was so tall that it blocked the stunning view if you were sitting down in the lounge or dining room! We also hadn't realised quite how long it would take us to drive to places from this end of the island, but that said, there is plenty to do on the Trotternish peninsula, especially if you like walking, and it was less touristy than some of the other parts so I would still heartily recommend it.
Modern property which had views was warm and light. Plenty of space and great for getting to sights around the island. Coast within a couple of hundred metres with two stiles to access them. All mod cons and more. Plenty of books, DVD's, puzzles, binoculars, and great views. Amazing house, amazing island even in November. Had 7 nights and had three brilliant sunny days and apart from half a day of constant rain the rest did not stop us getting out.
Stayed in sorley house it was lovely . Amazing views. Well equipt we had everything needed. Home from home. Would definitely stay again . Thanku
Creag Bheag is a very coomfortable and well appointed cottage with lots of lovely touches in terms of decoration and style. It is extremely well located for access to shops and excellent restaurants and we very much hope to return in the future.
We chose this cottage based on the reviews that others had written although I was a little cynical that they were a bit too 'perfect'. I needn't have worried, the cottage was indeed perfect. The views are magical, the cottage well equipped and there has been no expense spared in furnishing it. We live in a very quiet part of the countryside so I wasn't sure how the road that runs just beside the cottage would affect us - it wasn't a problem and was only noticed in the conservatory on occasion. It is obvious that the owners have taken great care and pride in ensuring their guests want for noth...more
Everything about Ard na Mara is fantastic! It's a great location, we spent lots of time watching the ferries and boats. It's also a close drive to the fairy glen which is amazing! The cottage is immaculate, everything from bedding to towels to pots and pans is the very best quality and very clean and tidy. Anything you need is there, irons, travel cot, highchair etc. Perfect base for a group/family holiday.
We spent a wonderful week in the cabin over New Year. It’s 15 mins walk into Portree which itself is ideally located for exploring the island. The cottage is well equipped, modern and incredibly warm. We turned the heating off and just enjoyed the fire in the evenings and plenty of wood was provided. The views are lovely and it’s a very peaceful spot. Would definitely stay again.
The house is nice, we especially loved the view from the living room, the location is great. The new house close by didn't bother us.
Perfect! The view is stunning, the house is so cosy and well equipped ! Perfect location too. Highly recommended!
Beautiful spacious cottage next to a stream and the sea. Two little shops in walking distance.Magical scenery mountains to the back. Isle of Skye is beautiful with its ever changing landscape and continual rainbows. Would recommend this beautiful cottage. Only down side could do with 2 stair gates as we had small children with us and some board games. Linda.... (Manchester)
We visited Mable's Cottage for one week with our three dogs. We've been to Skye before but this was our first time in this area of Skye. The location was fantastic, and even though the road outside the cottage got busy with the tourists visiting the Fairy Glen, the cottage and it's garden remained serene and relaxing. The cottage facilities were fantastic, the kitchen was very well resourced, and once you got over the fact the sink was next door in the utility room, it was a very nice place to cook! The utility room was also well resourced, with fridge, freezer, washing machine, tumble dry...more
Reasonable price and good location. Free coffee machine was provided. We could enjoy our holiday in Portree.
The house is only a short walk away from the centre, which we found very convinient. Good showers, good beds, plenty of space to store your personal things and a nice view from the livingroom window. The kitchen is unfortunately not well equipped, if you want to cook a meal, there are almost no dishes or platters and the teflon- coated pan and pots are scratched and should be replaced. But all in all we can fully recommend the house and we had a nice holiday.
Large Windows allowed every time a beautiful View to the Ocean and the islands. The Skyskins and the the Cafe nearby is a must see. The old school house in Dunvegan is a perfect Place for Lunch and Dinner
We stayed at Gesto Cottage with our 4 yr old and found it perfect for our needs. Very spacious and well equipped with great views from the bedrooms. It is literally a stones throw from a lovely pub and the shoreline is an interesting place to explore. Although located in quite a remote area of Skye, it is relatively easy to get to the main sights although you have to be prepared to spend time driving. The lack of internet and phone signal was also a bonus - a great opportunity to escape for a few days!
We have all really enjoyed our stay at Tarradale Cottage. The house has well proportional rooms and all bedrooms have their own ensuite plus there was as a separate family bathroom. Having all the rooms with ensuite was a big bonus and made mornings a doddle as no one was waiting their turn for the bathroom. The lounge and kitchen areas were well appointed with plenty of seating for all, and stunning views from every window. We also used the annex that is at the back of the house. This comprised of a large bedroom and lounge area with sofa plus large ensuite. It’s only light is artificial as...more
Lovely stay, great house and area it is very handy for amenities lovely owners & great staff at i&h.
Comfortable and warm cottage with first class views over Staffin Bay. Great place to stay for exploring the north of island.
This is the second time I've stayed at Seamstress' Cottage. The location is superb. Total peace and relaxation. Just outside your door (and from the Velux windows) are fantastic view across Ob Breakish to Applecross, the Isles of Pabay and Scalpay and to the mountains - nearby Beinn na Caillich glowing in the morning sun. Romantic views, definitely? Will the views live in your heart, absolutely? The house is basic but cosy, it is not a large property. It has recently been decorated but I wish the owners had gone a little further and updated some of the fittings, some of it is just looking a li...more
Really enjoyed our stay. The house is comfortable and cosy, in a lovely location by the shore, great for watching passing wildlife. Saw seals, herons, curlew, oystercatcher, shag ,goosander.Beautiful views from living room and bedroom. However, some issues with cleanliness : hair in bath plughole, mould growing on plate in microwave [the interior of which also needed cleaning due to food spatter], dirty kitchen cupboard by fridge , which had numerous mug rings. Not sure how such things can be missed... We also felt the kitchen lacked a few basics, ie handwash, kitchen roll, a drainer for pl...more
My partner and I enjoyed our 3 nights at end of August, in this hidden retreat. We were cosy the entire time, especially with the log burners - although we only used the one in living room! The bed was extra comfy! It's worth bearing in mind there's no microwave. Although would highly recommend regardless!! Don't forget to switch on the hot water before taking a shower as we did one morning :) Thanks for having us Tigh Phoil!
The cottage is in a wonderful location, ideal for anyone looking for peace and quiet, just a few minutes from the sea and a great circular walk. The property is like a "tardis", much bigger inside than it looks from the outside, with spacious rooms and comfortable furniture. It is rather old fashioned and could do with some updating, but is very clean and comfortable. It did seem rather expensive for just two of us, but if all the bedrooms were occupied then it would be good value for money.
We only stayed for few days Nice place close to all attractions We loved it Only downside there is no phone signal if you need emergency call No internt whatsoever but thats why we liked it even more Fammily time No need for Internet and gaming Also no TV signal There were supposed to be some DVD's but we didnt found any So the evening's were bit boring I definitely recommend this place its nice and simple Do not expect luxury
The cottage gave us a real feel for living on Skye. Being able to walk to the shore was wonderful. This is the most amazing place. The kitchen was well equipped. The bath worked well. We enjoyed cozy evenings in the homely living room. The wifi was very fast, but no cell service. There is a land line however which helped. We loved Skye, Tarskavaig and our temporary home there at the Cottage.
Wow what an amazing place ! The owners have literally thought of everything it's the best equipped self catering cottage we've ever stayed at . Great location on the not so busy side of Skye and close to fairy pools , coral beach and portree . Lovely views , very peaceful , quiet location . Owners were very friendly and provided an un expected welcome pack of yummy things including home baked bread and shortbread . WiFi was included which was great as phone signal is not great in Skye ! Can't fault anything there was a washer drier very handy for wet weather and heaters for if it got chilly ...more
Really enjoyed our stay. Comfy cottage enjoyed the log burner. Stunning scenery would return again. Thank you
Lovely views from the cottage, light, bright and well maintained. A little more honesty about the location of the cottage would be nice. This is, to most people, a remote location and a considerable drive to find groceries and places to eat.
We really enjoyed our stay at half of 17. The cottage is small but cosy and well equipped. The location was perfect for us (visiting family) and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Good value place to kick off the walking shoes and enjoy a game of scrabble by the fire!
The apartment is very well maintained with all the necessary equipments to make the stay even more comfortable.
Very clean and comphortable .Well equippet comphortable beds. Wonderful view from all windows. A little isolated.
Very beautiful cottage with a real fireplace, warm and cosy, and after the first night you get used to the quite noisy boiler, which does its duty and provides really hot water, even if it starts to work at 3am ;-)
Step out of car onto driveway - Dog poo. Step out of front door - Dog poo. Owner stated it may be sheep poo - I know the difference. House interior - long standing dirty and thick dust on paintwork, doors, floors and living room unit, kitchen furniture covered in crumbs. House exterior - mould/green algae covered in places, Waist high grass/weeds, driveway crumbling, needs a good overhaul. Booked for 1 week, left after 2 days after personally scrubbing house. Email communication with owner and sent pictures - he blamed cleaner stating "she had taken her eye off the ball'. His "solution!...more
When we first arrived we found food left over from the Xmas period, went to make tea found cups and cutlery very unclean. I spent the first few hours of my holiday cleaning out cupboards and all the cutlery, plates and bowls not a good start to my holiday. Bathroom was also dirty especially the bath for what l paid for one week l was very disappointed would not use again. Me and my partner come up to Skye three or four times a year and have never has this problem and hope to never again.
First off did not realise sky was so big. Arrived about seven pm, easy enough to find. Inside the cottage and be aware this looks like one cottage but it is split in half as we found out when a couple turned up at about the same time as us asking where they were staying. Inside it is very cozy, kitchen was very clean and bedroom nice but a little compact. All in all a lovely place to stay and would go back again.
It is such a nice house in a very quiet neighbourhood. The interior has been well picked with a good sense for design. There are all facilities provided plus some extras like a baking oven, nice glases and even books. The oven is not working properly, though. And the sleeping arrangements, a bigger bed or twin beds or at least two duvets would make this house perfect.
Several issues regarding our stay at Altvaid, the major one being rats which was confirmed by pest control during our stay. Even tho the owners refunded us £200 at the end of our stay we feel more could have been done to improve our holiday. Generally in a poor condition with easy fixes (eg rotten floor in bathroom, oven grill knob not working, hoover not working to name a few) could be made to improve the holiday home. Would be cramped living conditions if 6 people were staying, we were a party of 4 which felt comfortable.
Torrin is a lovely place for a holiday and the house was comfortable and cosy for our week of unfortunately not so great weather. We all enjoyed the peace and quiet of the place but still felt like we were staying within a local community, with neighbours quite nearby, people working and even the great Blue Shed café to visit. The location is perfect for setting off in all directions to explore the area and the rest of Skye, and is so near the sea and mountains - it's beautiful. As four single adults and two children, we also used the barn as an extra bedroom and the sofa bed. Everyone was com...more
Great location. Bit disappointed in slight run down basic feel of property but warm and comfortable..great location and price we could just afford.
