Above and beyond our expectations. Very well equipped, luxury cottage. Fantastic views, totally recommend
The Mill is very spacious and a home from home. Everything you need as far as utensils etc are there. It’s location Is perfect for visiting the Fairy Glen and the Dinosaurs Footprints at Staffin. It is also only a 20 min drive to Portree. There are also great views across the Loch to the Harbour, fishing is allowed from the Harbour, and great sport on a light spinning rod. The owners Maggie and Seumas live local and are very helpful but not intrusive. They are only a call away if you need anything or advice on the surrounding area. All in All the Mill is an excellent place to stay and I can’t ...more
We had such a lovely stay here on skye! Can not wait to come back. Definitely recommend it to anyone visiting.
We stayed here in March 2020 with our family, for our wedding celebrations. We have absolutely nothing negative to say about our stay. IH Cottages were super helpful and lovely when communicating with us and all though our booking process. The house is stunning, very spacious with beautiful views. The house was clean and had everything we needed. It is modern whilst cosy at the same time. We would 100% recommend staying here and will most definitely be back!
Loved our stay at Ben Edra it was perfect for exploring mid and north Skye. The views were stunning.
Stunning property in a stunning location. Spotlessly clean, cosy, really comfortable, brilliantly well-equipped...we've stayed in a lot of self-catering properties and this rates among the best. All this plus a stunning location: Ord is beautiful and so quiet. Fabulous views of the Cuillin and the wildlife was incredible - spent a lovely half hour watching a pair of sea eagles from the cottage, plus saw golden eagles and an otter. Fabulous walking - a perfect week away. Can't recommend MacKinnon highly enough - thank you!
We had just a lovely week at this fabulous cottage. The cottage is so very comfortable and has everything you could ever need while away from home. The location is wonderful and a great base to explore the best Skye has to offer. We would love to come back to this spot and we really didn't want to leave. It's a very special place.
Superb location - views to die for, especially if you are into bird / animal / coastal photography. Somewhat isolated yes- but true tranquillity is only obtained at a price ! Great local walking from the door. Perhaps a location to avoid if you want to allow your dog to run off lead locally- as could cause issues with surrounding livestock tho' property is fully fenced. Consideration should also be given to parts of the approach track , as some serious potholes could lead to issues on some cars particularly those with low suspension ! All of the various guide book photo's & descriptions w...more
We had a wonderful stay at Blue Sea Cottage! The view from the home is amazing and the sun room is the perfect place to enjoy it. The bedrooms are comfortable with nice linens. The bathroom is large and the bathtub was such a luxury. The kitchen space and cooking supplies were perfect for us to cook meals every day. We are already eager for a return trip to Skye!
Lovely house can’t fault anything with it. And an ideal location for exploring the rest of the island
Allderburn House was in the perfect location, less than 5 min walk into the centre of Portree. A very well equipped and comfortable house. A perfect base for exploring Skye. Highly recommend.
very enjoyable week in duirnish, scenery spectacular and duirnish lodge and gardens a very nice place to stay
We had the best holiday in this cottage on skye. We had everything we needed and the host was so kind with the all of the skye gifts. Thankyou
Our second stay at Tidal Cottage was magical again. Wonderful location, views to die for and a very cosy cottage to spend a wonderful Christmas. Tidal Cottage definitely gave us the fantastic festive season we hoped for and we will definitely be back.
We stayed here in March 2020 with family, whilst celebrating our wedding. The house is beautifully furnished, with an amazing view and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. IH Cottages could not have been more helpful throughout the booking process and helping with a minor snag on or arrival (which was all sorted very quickly!). The house is cosy and comfortable and we would very much like to return in the future. We would 100% recommend staying at Ard Na Mara!
We happened upon this cottage by chance; we were originally only looking for a room with ensuite (but the island was fully booked) and we would absolutely stay here again. The cottage is gorgeous. The kitchen is equipped with everything you might need (except perishables, so do shop before you go); the rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable; the view is unforgettable. The road to get to the cottage is Skye at its best: passing places; sharp turns; cattle grid. The long route will take you past all of the island highlights and gorgeous walks, and you take a stroll down to the sea from...more
Awesome! The Library isa place to go back to. All you can expect from a compassionate owner. Everything we need has been thought of. Thank you so very much. It was a wonderful stay. Thank you for the coffee and the goodies too.
Lovely house, plenty room, remote and peaceful location, beautiful scenery, great walks, quiet roads for biking.. would definitely recommend for a totally relaxing holiday.
The Croft House is a superb base for exploring the island of Skye. It is extremely comfortable and well equipped, with everything you could possibly need for a holiday stay. Particularly welcome for walkers is the drying room; and the sun room, with its views over Loch Harport and Macleod’s tables is just delightful, and somewhere to watch the constantly changing weather. There is also a large, sunny garden. The owners are very helpful and hospitable. We would thoroughly recommend it.
We have a lovely stay at Almondbank Apartment. The guests are very nice. We enjoy the house location: you can access really easily all the skye island location. We recommand to book here.
We rented Kinloch Follart for the week leading up to our wedding on Skye with 10 of our closest friends. The entire experience was beyond what we could've hoped for and Kinloch Follart as the back drop was an absolute dream. The beautiful grand staircase, well equipped bedrooms, expansive kitchen, beautiful dinning room, and unparalleled views - you are literally ON THE LOCH - were perfect. Our friends had never been to Scotland, or to Skye, and they all fell in love with the place with Kinloch Follart as our home base; we couldn't have wished for anything more! I communicated extensively with...more
very enjoyable stay if you want remote this is the place to go to. the two feral cats are always looking for food so you get a big welcome when you return after a day out.
We arrived on 25th July for 7 days. Found old school to be absolutely everything we had hoped for, spotless on arrival, beautiful house and gardens. Views to die for. Great location for getting out and about on skye. I have rented many cottages over the years on skye but this was by a country mile the best yet. As always islands and highlands provided great service. I will be rebooking old school for next year.
Fantastic cottage. We had 6 guys in here for a week doing some mountaineering up on the Cuillin Hills. It is a really nice place, we are repeat customers from the year previous. 1 - The shower is weak, not what you want after a day on the hill. 2 - I would like a number so that I could inform the owners that I was leaving a day early, this would doubtless help them and make me feel happier about leaving the key in the agreed place but hardly secure. That is all I can think to drip about, we will book in next year.
A clean, warm and comfortable property in a quiet but accessible location. It was lovely to watch the local wildlife and the views from the large picture windows, especially the baby rabbits playing in the garden. Set back from the main road between Portree and Uig, it was easy to drive around North Skye and further afield, if you wished. The nearest shops were in Portree, where there is a couple of Co-op supermarkets, as well as local food shops. The complimentary biscuits from the Skye Bakery were especially nice! The kitchen was well equipped and had all the essential facilities for a self...more
Very comfortable highly recommended views amazing only one issue hole in fence which my dogs managed to find will return in summer
A fantastic little traditional crofters thatched cottage in a superb location to either chill and relax either indoors or on a sunny day on the bench in the garden watching the tide rise and fall with the mountains in the background, or as we did, explored the Isle of Skye along every road available to see where we ended up, and we ended up in some fantastic locations, from Neist Point Lighthouse to the Talisker Distillery, Elgol Village store and tea room to the Old Man of Storr near Portree. The cottage was well presented and quite quirky with a great log burner in the living area, that is ...more
Tarradale Cottage was a fantastic home to base ourselves for 5 nights whilst we explored the Isle of Skye. Travelling all the way from Australia to experience the views across Loch Portree was divine. The home itself was so comfortable. It really is a home away from home. The well stocked kitchen was a wonderful surprise. Just as you’d find in your own home. On our first night I decided to make home made soup. It was with great relief that I found a stick blender in the cupboard. Just one example of how well kitted out this home is. We also loved the 4 slice toaster and coffee machines. When w...more
This is a large cottage that is in excellent condition - fantastic facilities and three bathrooms with loads of hot water which was great in the middle of winter! A lovely welcome pack when we arrived with loads of information about Skye. Couldn't fault the accommodation. Have only given good for VFM because accommodation in Skye is very expensive at New Year - not so much a comment on this house as the costs generally.
We absolutely loved our stay here. The cottage is beautifully presented. Everything is clean and cozy. They have thought of everything. Every time we went to look for something we needed it was there. It was very warm despite the cold outside. If we ever return to Skye we would definitely stay here again. The little box of goodies on arrival was a nice touch too.
A very bright and airy cottage with beautiful views. Huge private garden and easy access for vehicles. Inside, the cottage is very comfortable and spacious, the pictures on the website really don't do it justice. Clean and modern with high quality furniture and accessories. This part of the Island isn't as busy with tourists so the peace and quiet is welcome yet, it's an easy drive to most of the northern parts parts of Skye as well as Portree itself (if you really must go there!).
The cottage was lovely and you could never tire of the view from the dining and living room windows.
The cottage is in a beautiful location overlooking Staffin bay. The cottage is light, airy and spacious. It is ideally placed for some of Skye’s most iconic viewpoints. The dinosaur beach is a fifteen minute walk, Mealt Falls, Kilt Rock and the Quiraing ( apparently pronounced K-ragg) are all minutes away. Will be heading back here on day.
Four Winds is a lovely house with everything you could possibly need. The views are amazing and the location is good, not far to the bridge and Broadford. The garden is great, with the beautiful view and it's completely dog proof. We had a very enjoyable stay and the owners and Islands and Highlands were lovely and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
I booked the whole house for my family to join us for our wedding in Scotland. Both the housekeeper and the owner were both very helpful and good and communicating. Our stay was very enjoyable and the location is just lovely. We actually ended up moving our wedding location to the slip owned by the house and it could not have been more idyllic. The area is lovely and peaceful and a very short distance to the bridge over to Skye.
This property in an excellent location - well placed for discovering the area. It is very well equipped and the hosts are very friendly.
Lovely little house, excellent location, would love to return again at some point. Right on the beach and a good size for a family.
Nice quiet property in owner's back garden though we never actually met. Very well equipped and comfortable with wood burning stove (firewood supplied) and underfloor heating. Great shower too. Nice view through the shrubs at end of garden to the Loch and hills. Plenty of parking. About 20 minute's walk from centre of Portree, it's a really good base from which to drive to all points on the island and enjoy the walks and majestic scenery. Plenty of good places to eat in Portree but kitchen also v well equipped for cooking at home. If you like fish there is a fantastic but slightly hard to find...more
Lovely cosy warm cottage with safe enclosed garden. Fantastic views - good local shop and places to eat. Great base for exploring the northern areas of Skye.
This cottage is just perfect - tastefully decorated and furnished and in an ideal coastal location with an inn and a restaurant only a couple of doors away on either side.If we ever move to Skye this is the sort of cottage we would want to buy - I can't praise it any more highly than that!
This is a very nice little cottage, clean and tidy and well equipped, the hosts offered a very warm welcome and took the time to show us around and offer advice on places to to visit. The only small thing is that we like to have a cup of tea in bed in the mornings but the position of the bed under the sloping roof didn't allow us to sit up and do this,
the cottage was in a great location in Portree, the owners welcomed us, they were very helpful and friendly. thought the bread, milk, bacon and red wine was a lovely touch.
We enjoyed out stay at Alan's House very much. It is very comfortable, well equipped, and exactly as described. We appreciated the fact that you rented for 4 days - most places require a week's stay. We used the clothes washer and would have appreciated a dryer. During our 4 day stay we had no contact with anyone - not the rental agency or any caretakers. Nor did we have any need to talk to anyone. Directions were easy to follow.
Tigh Anndra is a cosy, well equipped cottage in a stunning location in the North of the Isle of Skye. It contained everything we needed for our stay including some bits and pieces that we had forgotten such as foil and olive oil. We mostly didn't need any heating but, when we did, the towel rails in the bathroom provided enough warmth for the whole cottage. In saying that, the owner Angus had provided enough chopped wood for the wood burning stove to see us through the week if it had been cold. If there had been any problems, Angus only lives a short distance away and made a point of calling i...more
Very nice self catering accommodation. Silent, though in near of the main street. Great view out of the sitting room windows! Near to the center, where all the bars are ;-) The lock of one toilet doors was broken, but this was not a show stopper. Eventually my wife could escape ;-)
The photos don’t do it justice. This cottage is perfect in every way. Bigger and better. Lots of room. On the road to Portree and on the lochside. Stayed 4 nights in July 2020 with my elderly mum. I took my paddleboard out on the loch via the garden gate. The views from the conservatory are to die for. Everywhere was easy to drive to. Not a lot of restaurants open due to Covid virus restrictions. Local shops for supplies, food, wine, candles and gifts were superb. I’d highly recommend this cottage.
The cottage was all we could have asked for and more. We arrived to Christmas trees lit up in the windows and some lovely extra welcome gifts from the owners which was the perfect start to a wonderful xmas week here. Everything has been thought of that you could possibly need at Tystie there are also a multitude of books, games and local information about the area. We cannot fault anything and would not hesitate on recommending Tystie as a get away from it all relaxing place to stay it really is a home from home with fantastic views !!
Great location, 5 minutes walk to town. Easy free parking for one car. Large property with comfy lounge area. Everything you need for a home from home stay. Plenty of pubs and restaurants within 5 mins walk.
Good standard, amenities and location. Very well equipped and comfortable for my mother. Many thanks!
A lovely well appointed bungalow with a fantastic view of the sea and access by short walk to the beach. Not far from the local village shop but would suggest to anyone to stock up before arriving as no pub/bistro with in short drive or walking distance for evening meal.Very peaceful and relaxing break with lots of short or long walks in some awe inspiring locations. A good place for getting away from the usually busy pace of life.
We found everything here perfectly adequate and loved the upstairs dorm-type layout. It was very convenient to have bathrooms at both ends, and a toilet downstairs in the utility room. While the wc with bath has a shower hose, it's not possible to stand up and have a shower in it due to the sloping ceiling. Note that there are no direct sea views except from some bedroom / bathroom windows, and a large house (Quirang Lodge) is directly between the cottage and the sea. While you can get down to the rocky shore, it's a scramble, and not quite clear whether access is permitted - the slope through...more
Stayed with my daughter, we found cottage very welcoming and comfortable with all essential facilities. Good situation close to Portree and particularly for exploring north Skye. Good fun on occasions fun shepherding cattle to get access to the exit gate. Recommended.
Large Windows allowed every time a beautiful View to the Ocean and the islands. The Skyskins and the the Cafe nearby is a must see. The old school house in Dunvegan is a perfect Place for Lunch and Dinner
Two floors, washer/dryer combo mid-vacation (Yay!), Co-op and restaurants within walking distance, central to the island, WiFi for the kids, Netflix on TV, bed and shower large enough for my 6'4"/194cm, ... What's not to like?! The whole trash separation business is rather involved for us from abroad. At home we use the green bins for recyclables, which to us makes more sense, and that just adds to the confusion. As a consequence we completely forgot to take out the regular trash when we left. Sorry!
What a great holiday we had on Skye. The house was perfect for our needs. Very safe which was key as we have an active toddler. The sun lounge is a fantastic bonus. We spent many an evening watching sunsets of the rain sweep across the sea. The showers are fantastic which is another unexpected bonus. Kitchen is modern and well stocked. Plenty of seating in the living area for family games etc. Great place all round!
I can highly recommend this cottage. We were a multigenerational family group of 7 (15 to 77 years old), and we thoroughly enjoyed our 7 day stay in the cottage. Incredibly comfortable, warm and cosy. Owners were great, with a real commitment to customer service - resolved our minor issues immediately. A downstairs bedroom & bathroom made it fully accessible for guests with reduced mobility. Amazing views and location. Great base for exploring the rest of the island. Don’t miss Portree, the Quiraing, Old Man of Storr (obviously!) and the lovely beach within easy walking distance of the cott...more
Lovely house well equipped, warm and cosy. Only minus was the very poor tv system which required fiddling with daily
We had a fantastic week at this cottage, the space was perfect for us, plenty of room for us to enjoy our Christmas break with our dogs :) the garden is great, nice and large and the dogs spent plenty of time running around whatever the weather. The cottage was lovely and warm, had all sorts of kitchen accessories but our favourite spot was curled up in front of the large windows with a cuppa watching the weather. The views are magnificent. We felt completely at home and were very sad to leave! We can't wait to book again:)
This house was our perfect basecamp for our three night stay on the Isle of Skye. Located far away from any tourist routes in the south west near the highest mountains of the island it let us feel like we are somewhere in the east of Iceland. The house was very well equipped and we felt comfortable without internet and mobile phone connections. Only the fact that the floor and some dishes weren‘t that clean made a first bad impression to us. Nevertheless this house is a good recommendation for everyone seeking calm.
Despite the worst of weather the week we stayed in Skye we had a lovely time. The furnishings were rustic and cosy and fitted the setting. The wood burning stoves were great and we lit the living room/kitchen one every evening. We lit the one in the bedroom only 1 evening. The flat was sound proof and with extra thick walls we were not going to be disturbed or cold. The bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. The wifi was good in an evening but a bit hit and miss during the day. There was enough to check emails but no netflix viewing :-).There was one day when we looked...more
Wonderful cottage in an idyllic location. Quiet location off the beaten track but only a very short walk to the main part of Plockton and the shops, pubs and restaurants. Particularly enjoyed sitting in the garden by the loch in the evening sun.
Everything was in perfect condition, from linen to kitchen accessories and disinfecting gel and antibacterial handsoap. View over Loch Mealt from the living room is amazing. Next to the dinosaur museum and short ride away from scenic walks around the coast, abounding with wildlife.
This is a lovely cottage with a great location for the south of the island and not to mention getting back to the mainland for the likes of Plockton and Applecross (via the "pass" is amazing!!). It's very compact internally but most of the time is out and about. The thing that let this cottage down for us was the cleanliness, especially in the likes of the kitchen. Granted 5 star luxury and cleanliness isn't expected but neither is having to almost spring clean the kitchen before using it or the items within. Shame really.
Beautiful, cosy house and fabulous location. Great for quiet and peaceful getaways. Definitely returning!
House has a nice location (seaside) and a good terras. Condition of the house is fine but it lacks a coffeemaker. The kitchen is a bit small to sit with 4 people. Minor ‘problems’.
Nice cottage, but needs attention with the cleaning and there were 3 bad water leeks on the landing and in the fireplace. Bathroom ceiling paint kept on falling away in little white pieces. We found a big black mark on one of the kitchen cupboard doors. Many cobwebs and spider webs were not cleaned away and quite a few spiders in various rooms. I'm not saying the cottage is all bad, we loved it, but the cleaning before new customers arrive. It needs to be a whole lot better. Basically, attention to detail. Still a great cottage and great location.
Very comfortable, appreciated the upmarket shower and bath gell, and suprisingly quiet, given its central location.
The apartment is very well maintained with all the necessary equipments to make the stay even more comfortable.
The property was cosy and welcoming and it was thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed. It was pristinely clean and fresh. The communication with Island and Highland Cottages was really helpful and theee were speedy replies to emails. The location is perfect for exploring the island and the views from the cottage are beautiful.
We were very pleased with the accommodation and the fittings. The cottage is easy to manage and convenient for a pleasant shore and for a short drive in to Portree. It is a place of great calm. It would be nice for the outside "garden" to mirror the standard of the inside of the house but you can't have everything! We will book again.
Set up on the hill overlooking Edinbane sits a cottage you can relax and recharge in. Temp gate bad!
LOCATION: The cottage is quite removed and isolated from any nearby city and tourists. However, it is near to the Skye Skins sheep-wool production shop, Skye's oldest pub The Stein Inn, and Diver's Eye boat tours - all of which are lovely and recommended. The drive to the cottage from the main road is single-track and took us about ten minutes to get through any time we wanted to go anywhere. This was alright for us, as we appreciated the benefit of being removed from main traffic more than we were put off by how long it took to get anywhere. The drive to Portree is about 50 minutes (don't let...more
Allt Slapin has a very good view of surrounding area in any direction. It is well equipped and comfortable.
This is a lovely spot - the house is comfortable and good for small family. The Biar smelt a little damp, but was fine otherwise.
The location is beautiful and the house is lovely. But the kitchen ground was not clean, neither the cutlery and the pans. In the kitchen was no hot water, so we had to boil water for the dishes. The shower did not work properly, the water was not constantly hot. The duvets, pillows and matras were dirty, the covers were clean.
The accommodation is nice but very remote a warning is do not turn left at the end of the drive as it turns out to be very costly due to the unmarked ditch which was virtually impossible to see due to the length of the grass I know I ended up in it. The master bedroom is great as long as you don’t mind listening to a very noisy fridge all night due to there being no doorway to the bedroom, the parking area is good until it rains which it does a lot on Skye and then it’s like a mud bath and very slippery. There is also only catch up tv available on the only tv in the house paying top dollar you...more
