We had a really good week at Finnan's Byre, it is a comfortable and impressive cottage with an astonishing view across to the loch. It was just marred by the fact that the cottage didn't look clean (vacuumed) when we first arrived. Paying upwards of £1000 for a week, we don't expect to have to clean before we can relax. But the floor was covered in bits and crumbs. We always say we'll clean at the beginning or the end, but not both. So we spent a good hour cleaning the floor, vacuuming and wiping surfaces. Then... it was wonderful. We had a really lovely stay at Finnan's Byre, and happily used it as a base to explore Skye. The owners should be proud of their cottage, but need to address the cleaning. It wasn't 'filthy' and we do have high standards. Would still recommend, but that aspect needs to be addressed. It put a little shadow over the beginning of the holiday.

After looking into it, it appears there was a communication mix up after a contractor had been in. We had a wonderful stay at Finnan's Byre. It had everything you could possibly need. Comfy bed, great kitchen, warm house, great shower, lovely quiet and peaceful location. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Skye as Edinbane feels very close to all the things on the island. Everything about 30/40 minutes away. (Yes this is close). It also has two great restaurants in the village, we ate at the Edinbane Lodge which was a fabulous experience.

The cottage has been renovated to a fabulous standard and has everything you would need for a week's holiday.
The furnishings are top quality, as are the appliances. The colour scheme is peaceful and restful and compliments the stunning view perfectly. The Superking bed is a real bonus, as is the instant hot water.
Good pub food within walking distance at the Edinbane Inn, booking is vital though.
This is a great base to explore the whole of Skye from.

Possibly one the best places we have ever stayed! The cottage is gorgeously decorated and extremely well equipped - it has everything you need for a lovely relaxing stay.

The views from the bedroom and living room out onto the bay are amazing - perfect spot for snuggling down with a cup of tea and a book.

The location is also a great jumping off point to visit a lot of Skye’s main tourist spots (e.g. Fairy Pools, Portree, Neist Point and Old Man of Storr are all less than 45 mins away - which is close for Skye!). The cottage itself is nice and private, however being situated on the edge of Edinbane village is also within walking distance of a pub (Edinbane Inn), fine dining restaurant (Edinbane Lodge) and pottery studio.

All in all we couldn’t recommend the cottage more! We will definitely be back the next time we visit Skye.

A comfortable, spacious and well equipped cottage with high quality, stylish fittings. The location is quiet but the main road is easily accessible for exploring Skye. It was a great place to hole up and watch the weather (which we had a fair bit of!) play across the landscape. Perfect place to unwind. And I echo previous comments about the super comfortable bed. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful cottage in secluded Location with lovely view. A deer came to visit us. Excellent fittings and furnishings with everything you need. Not far from Dunvegan village.

Fabulous little property, really well appointed with everything you might want as your holiday ‘home from home’. Fantastic to have a big bed and a luxurious shower. The kitchen had everything you might need and the views are just fantastic! Highly recommended!

Finnan's Byre was everything we were looking for in a rental on Skye - high quality accommodation, a great view and a peaceful location but not too far from a good road to get around (there's a lot to see on Skye). It's spacious, very well designed and very well equipped for self catering. The view from the armchairs through the big picture window is fabulous, perfect for relaxing with a book/watching the changing scenery. The bed was the most comfortable we've come across in a rental and the shower was great (both very important to us). Add to that top quality linen and towels. We were very sad to leave :(

According to the visitor book, we were only the third couple to stay at Finnan's Byre. We thought it was an absolutely superb conversion and we had real difficulty leaving it at all! The design, construction, furnishings and equipment were all top quality and everything that you could possibly want in a holiday rental had been included. the living area with massive picture windows looking over the loch was fantastic and we literally spent hour just sitting there gazing at the scene. As well as being super-comfortable, the property felt ultra-modern and contemporary, which was a great combination. All in all just a fantastic property.

An added bonus was that there is a pub and a fine dining restaurant within walking distance so you can have an evening out with a drink without needing to get a taxi there and back (though you might need a bank loan if you want the Edinbane Lodge tasting menu with wine flight!)

A couple of minor issues - though the bed was very comfy we found the duvet was too heavy for the time of year and that, combined with the memory foam mattress meant we didn't always get the best night's sleep. We couldn't get the cooker hood to work - I think it was meant to come on whey you opened it but it wouldn't and there was no switch. We suspected it hadn't been wired up. An information folder containing info on recycling etc would be good, as would some kind of outside seating area (though we understand landscaping is still to be completed).

Overall excellent and we definitely hope to return.

We had a wonderful stay in this newly converted property, which was very comfortable and cosy. Everything was of a high standard, well thought out and very comfortable, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Plenty of kitchen equipment was provided and replacement towels and bedding for our stay. The property was easy to find and the views were amazing, it was great to watch the loch and the changing weather from the large picture windows. Very quiet and tranquil.
A useful addition would be an information pack regrading the heating instructions and it would to have a clothes horse to air dry clothes, but we managed. We did need to contact the owners regarding a couple of issues, but they responded straight away and were very helpful. The property was waiting for a delivery of refuse and recycling bins, so we had to use next doors.
You will need to take plenty of provisions with you for your stay as there are no local shops. However, as we know the area well we were prepared for this. A fantastic base for exploring the island.
