I was very excited about our stay here, so you can imagine how upset I was to arrive to a dirty rental after hours of driving with three young children. The cleaners came promptly, but then we had to leave the property so it could be cleaned. We then had to drive around and went to 5 restaurants before finding one with room. We were compensated for our dinner, but I don’t feel that was enough based on what I paid for this rental and what we experienced. There was no coffee and some of the bathrooms had a strong sewage smell. Other than that the place is lovely with a great view.

Thank you for the review, it is appreciated and we always take all feedback on board. We are very sorry that you were left disappointed with some aspects of your stay. As per our normal reviews, the cleanliness of the property is excellent. This would have been the case here I’m sure if there had not have been a synchronisation issue on our booking calendar so it wasn’t noted as a changeover day when it should have been. This was a genuine error which has never happened before. As soon as were made aware of this, we sincerely apologised, and brought some drinks down goodwill gesture, plus had two cleaners turn it around that same evening in very quick time – that was the least we could do, of course. You then went out for an evening meal instead while the cottage was prepared, which is understandable. We covered the cost of that meal for you, again as a goodwill gesture. I’m sorry that you could not get accommodated easily in a local restaurant, though that is certainly outside of our control. As this is a self-catering cottage then we can’t always guarantee that there is coffee or such like already at the property. We do try our best, though this was a last-minute changeover to minimise your inconvenience given the booking system error. As for the smell, you mentioned this privately after your stay that this affected one of the four bathrooms at Taigh Cill Chriosd. It was caused by a dry shower trap and could have been resolved very easily had we been made aware during your stay. We were sorry to see this subsequently described as affecting “some” of the bathrooms. We are a small, family-run business with many wonderful reviews and returning guests, and while mistakes are thankfully very rare, we always do our best to resolve them fairly and promptly.

The house was very open and easily accommodated six people. The kitchen was well stocked. We saw deer, watched the lambs play, played games on the large dining room table.

Although the house is close to Broadford for stores and restaurants, the location still feels remote enough to fully disconnect. So quiet and beautiful. We loved being able to take hikes from the house and it is a great location for exploring closeby Elgol and Torrin. We also ventured further afield up to Portree and Old Man of Storr, but it was great to get back to our peaceful house at the end of the day. Clean, Comfortable and spacious. We were sad to leave!!

The house is wonderful and the views spectacular from all rooms. Situated very close to Broadford with a nice array of restaurants, the location is just a short distance onto Skye, making for an easy entry and exit. The only issue we had was trying to figure out the washer and dryer. A manual would be helpful. Overall, A+ stay at a beautiful property.

We absolutely loved our stay! The house was so clean, the beds were comfortable and the views were spectacular. We enjoyed a beautiful hike (on an clear and sunny day) to the Boreraig ruins right out our door.
Islands and Highlands Cottages was responsive and helpful with our questions. It was hard to leave and we hope to return.

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Taigh Cill Chriosd in July this year. There were three couples travelling together, and it was perfect for this group. It was fully equipped, and we didn't find a single thing that we wanted or needed that the cottage didn't have. The beds were comfortable, and it was impeccably clean. The cottage was a short drive outside of the village, with a beautiful view of a little loch.

We stayed at this lovely, roomy well appointed cottage for 3 nights. The view was beautiful with surrounding hills, a small loch and sheep with new little lambs. There are walking trails nearby. The kitchen is large with everything one needs to prepare meals. The bedrooms are comfortable and all feature en suite bathrooms. I would highly definitely recommend this cottage.
