Situated in the quiet crofting community of Borve, Glen Osdale has widespread views across the adjoining crofts and mountains. This self-catering home has two twin bedrooms upstairs with the master bedroom and ensuite on the ground floor. Open plan lounge and dining room with log fire, well equipped kitchen and an additional study. Glen Osdale is centrally located and is perfect for exploring the Isle of Skye and Raasay. It is just 10 mins drive from the main town of Portree.

Zeer ruim. Netjes schoon en perfecte lokatie .
Eigenlijk geen minpunt kunnen vinden .
We zijn er 10 dagen geweest en had voor mij veel langer mogen zijn.
Zeer centraal gelegen zodat je op isle of sky niet al te lang hoeft te rijden naar de mooiste plekken die ik gezien heb.

What a lovely cottage, sleeping for 6, enough space for about 8 cars. Clean tidy warm and cool when it's warm out. Perfect location for visiting all of skye. Loved being there, 5 stars all day long.

Fabulous stay again at glen end scale weather mixed but the house was warm clean and comfy so a lovely welcome after a long drive and days out in the weather. This house has great location and we are grateful to have found it and after 8 stays is like a home from home. :)

This cottage was one of the best I had stayed it. It was advertised as sleeping six but with an extra room downstairs could easily accommodate more. There was plenty of crockery and cooking equipment and generally everything we needed. The location was also extremely convenient for visiting all of Skye.

House was fine for 6 adults . Comfortable and well appointed .
Few minor gripes however. Towels provided were tiny and very threadbare and did not smell very nice to boot!
Only 1 beer glass provided among glassware.
Downstairs bedroom has water tank and both bathrooms next to it. Tank pump comes to life every time a toilet is flushed or tap turned on which will disturb your slumbers!

Great stay at glen osdale clean cottage - our 7th stay here we think
Visited all the haunts weather not fab but still got out
The cottage is lovely but needs a little tlc in places but we were still comfortable and warm oh and dry lol

Glen Osdale was a great base for our family holiday. Great location - close to Portree, central to most of the island, wonderful big views, enjoyed livestock of working croft fam next. Lots of parking next to property. Useful large porch. Spacious living accommodation. Well equipped kitchen. Plenty heating and hot water. Enjoyed a warm, lived in feel of family home (unlike many rental properties which are clearly holiday let investment properties which have been gutted of their original character). Overall cleanliness was good, but a few amber lights eg.... totally unwashed frying pan in dishwasher, sweet wrapper under bedside table, crumbs in bead bin, cooker hood very sticky/dirty, fridge-freezer very iced up on back wall. Would like to have brought some of our 4 family dogs to this outdoor lover's area.

I'm very impressed with Highlands and Islands Cottages, they were extremely helpful, quick to respond to queries, very thorough with information and arrangements and friendly to top it all off. Booking was easy and the keys were handy with a key safe arrangement.
The cottage exceeded our expectations: large, comfortable and welcoming, exceptionally well equipped, with efficient heating. It felt very friendly and lived-in - hence 4 rather than 5 stars for cleanliness and condition, it had been very thoroughly cleaned but there were minor signs of use around the place. For us that made it much nicer than an immaculate but sterile apartment.
The location was very handy for exploring Skye and nipping into Portree, but we loved it being quiet and well away from other houses - we were aware of the main road nearby but it was not noisy.

Came here to escape the madness that is at the moment, what a wonderful place, spacious, comfortable and set in an amazing location, owners provide taxi numbers into Portree if you want to go for drinks and a meal, set imid farmland, you really get the peace and quiet

We'd originally booked to visit in April 2020 but had to reschedule to September (coronavirus restrictions). We took along our coronavirus hygiene kit but the place had clearly been given a thorough clean, there was hand-sanitizer in the porch, and the living areas are spacious.

We've visited this cottage a number of times and have enjoyed our stay every time. It's good value, comfortable and well located. The downstairs facilities work well for folks like myself who have mobility problems, and Mandy is really committed to ensuring you enjoy your stay.

Just remember to stay calm and patient while the highland cattle shift from sunbathing on the trackway to the cottage. Yes, the sun shone for most of the days we were there. There's an efficient wood-burner for wetter times. We'll be back!

Stayed with my daughter, we found cottage very welcoming and comfortable with all essential facilities. Good situation close to Portree and particularly for exploring north Skye. Good fun on occasions fun shepherding cattle to get access to the exit gate. Recommended.



The place suited our requiements very well - plenty of space, comfortable and warm.

The house sleeps six and there were only four of us so there was plenty of room. The object of the holiday was to be out and about walking, climbing and sightseeing and only using the house as somewhere to sleep so it suited us very well.
The house was clean, very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped and having two bathrooms was a very welcome bonus. We only had two small niggles, the heated towel rail in the one bathroom didn't work and the shower control in the ensuite bathroom kept reverting to filling the bath whilst trying to have a shower.
The location is excellent and it would be difficult to find a place more suitable to our needs. We were also pleased with the value for money.

A cosy cottage with ample space for all of us. Very well situated for exploring the whole island, Think the décor & fittings might be in line with local tradition (seen similar in Estate Agent's window) but seemed little dated - perfectly serviceable though.

The place could do with some updating but mainly cosmetic I must admit.

The place was clean and comfortable and we had a good week despite the weather not being at its best. It was quite central to what we wanted to do and close to Portree (even walking)

Fabulous return stay at glen osdale 38th time on Skye . weather lived up to its name on the misty Isle but the house was a welcoming sight lovely and warm and comfy as always. We had no problems at the house and had everything we needed at hand. I'm sure we will return.

A fabulous time was had during our week on Skye. The cottage was ideally situated to explore the whole Island. The cottage could have easily accommodated 6 people as there was plenty of space to spread out.
Weather was mostly good, although on our first walk we were caught out in the rain, luckily we were able to dry off back at Glen Osdale.
We would love to make a return visit, the only downside was the 10 hour plus drive from home!!

Excellent directions to the cottage. Spacious, well equipped and instructions for all appliances we good.Ordinance survey maps and brochures were helpful with thing to see on Skye.
The beds were comfortable, the shower excellent as was the supply of hot water
.It was cold on a couple of days and we lit the log burner which warmed the cottage with the good dry kindling and logs.
Lovely situation, quiet with good views

Second time of visiting this cottage. Location is great, so peaceful. Great base for exploring the island. Accommodation great and down stair room was ideal, for elderly mum. Staff at Islands and Highlands Cottages helpful and good to deal with. Will be returning again in the future,

We love Skye and visit as often as we can. This was our first visit to this cottage but we’ll certainly be returning.
Glen Osdale is comfortable, well equipped, and set in an excellent location. It is relaxing and peaceful but conveniently close to the amenities of the island’s largest settlement. You get a strong sense of history, passing ancient standing stones as you turn into the cottage trackway.
The cottage garden is enclosed by a fence, except for the trackway where there is a cattle grid. This proved no obstacle to some friendly neighbourhood dogs who paid us occasional visits.
Borve is a crofting township so there are plenty of animals close by. We had highland cattle and a horse in the field behind us, sheep in the fields to the front. There's also a good range of birds and other wildlife in the area, so binoculars are handy.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Glen Osdale. We were very comfortable and there was lots of space for all the family to relax. The house faces southwest so there was lots of sunlight in most of the rooms. Plenty of cupboards to store clothes. (the kids enjoyed hiding in these!)So pleased to have a washing machine and dryer (so important with wee ones!) There is also a whirligig for outdoor drying. There is an outhouse at the back which was fun to explore. The house feels secluded in the hamlet of Borve. It is really close to Portree, less than 10 mins drive. Skye is quite a big Island and Borve is really central for getting to most places. Linen and towels clean and comfortable. the property was very clean throughout. Excellent value considering you could comfortably accommodate 7 adults. Hope to go back soon.

Our family of 6 (3 adult couples) had a lovely week based in this warm, comfortable, homely place. There is a lot of space to spread out, plenty of furniture and equipment and the heating is effective (important on Skye even in July). We found the location to be very convenient, central to the island making most places readily accessible, feeling remote yet only 10 minutes from Portree.

The rent was very reasonable for a place of this size, but the corresponding down-side to this is that it could do with a bit of maintenance/upgrading. The water pressure in the showers is rather low, the stair carpet is worn through in places, the ancient dishwasher just about works still although we had to throw in a tablet after the programme had started owing to a broken catch, etc. To us, these were niggles rather than major issues, though. We would happily stay there again.

Great stay, fantastic location and the cottage was huge with all the amenities you need. The only complaint we have is with the showers - they were terrible to the point of hardly being usable at times. No power, just a trickle, and often either scalding hot or freezing cold with no inbetween. Other than that we would definitely stay again and I would highly recommend staying here. The communal area has a wood fire and comfy sofas with a selection of board games and Dvds- very homely!
