The house is lovely - spacious with beautiful views of the loch from the dining room/lounge. The housekeeper is very helpful which was wonderful. The neighbours are friendly and welcoming. Quiet location with lovely walks into the village. Plockton is a really special village well worth visiting. Great base to reach Skye and other wonderful locations.
Easy to find and wonderful view. The property is really tastefully decorated - someone knows how put home furnishings together.so so comfortable - if there is a negative it is that the duvet covers on the main double bed just fit the bed exactly - it needs to be larger - we found ourselves fighting for coverage but a minor point.
Our family really enjoyed our stay here. The house is beautiful, with large windows looking over a great view. During our days here, we never really had great weather, so we would light a fire in the evenings and felt very snug and cozy and we were happy to be warm and dry. The kitchen was well appointed and our kids fell in love with milk frother for making hot chocolate every morning and afternoon. We loved the location out in Elgol and would happily return to the area and to this house if we are ever able to return! It was a great home.
Big window in lounge provided great views across bay to harbour while sipping a cuppa or glass of wine. Cottage well located for day tripping around island. Appreciated the starter pack complete with a nice bottle of wine. One of our best stays in Scotland.
We arrived a bit late to the isle of sky, and I was worried we would have trouble finding our cottage because there are no street numbers or exact addresses. But the description of the sign posts and each of the little areas we passed was perfect and we found Daisy cottage with no trouble! As we pulled up, we could not believe, the location! It was literally right on the lake. Even closer than the description! The house was large and new and very beautiful. As we got inside, we were even more impressed by how new and clean and lovely it was. Lock at the front open very easily and we got in ...more
We absolutely loved our stay here. The house was amazing and the view was just spectacular. The kitchen was very well appointed, probably the most well appointed kitchen we have ever stayed at. They even had plastic dishes for our 3 yr old. I loved all the local artwork. The living room was so cozy to sit in every evening. I loved the window seat in the kitchen and would sit there in the mornings to drink my coffee. Our family enjoyed hiking to Brother's Point, directly from the home. This was definitely one of the top homes we have ever stayed in, when you combine the how great the home was w...more
Absolutely loved this cottage, and the location. A little piece of heaven. It's close to so many beautiful hikes, little museums, and the perfect getaway from the city life. Interior: Can't complain about a thing! The cottage decor is beautiful. The kitchen is well-stocked, having a washing machine is incredibly useful. Everything you need for your visit to the majestic Isle of Skye. Exterior: For visitors not familiar with croft/farm stays (including me), the cottage is set within a working farm, so, after you enter the first gate, you'll be (carefully) driving through sheep to get...more
This place is next level. Beautiful location for exploring all of Skye. High attention to design detail and comfort. Immaculately clean, well laid out, quiet, gorgeous views, and plenty of space inside and out for relaxing. We almost didn’t want to explore Skye because it would mean leaving the beautiful house—a destination on its own. It was wonderful to come back each evening to the fabulous kitchen to cook or to sip wine/cocoa with the sunset view from the living room. Gorgeous.
We stayed at this lovely, roomy well appointed cottage for 3 nights. The view was beautiful with surrounding hills, a small loch and sheep with new little lambs. There are walking trails nearby. The kitchen is large with everything one needs to prepare meals. The bedrooms are comfortable and all feature en suite bathrooms. I would highly definitely recommend this cottage.
We had a wonderful stay in Strath Glebe Cottage. The house is very large and could easily accommodate our whole family. The kitchen was big and well stocked so we cooked multiple meals. There were 3 bathrooms with showers which was also very convenient for our large group - with an added bonus of shampoo. The house also came with a pack-and-play for our youngest group member. The location was amazing and the scenery and sheep around the house made us feel immersed in the isle. The host also checked in with us to make sure everything was ok and left us a well stocked welcome basket! I would rec...more
Fairy Glen Cottage is ideally positioned for exploring the Isle of Skye; not far to go to Portree and Dunvegan and in easy walking distance to fairy glen. The cottage is exceptionally well-kept, clean and, like its owner Alex, welcoming. We love it and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Wish it could have been longer...
We felt very comfortable in Ruadh. We were given such a warm welcome by our landlord that we felt like family. The house was in perfect condition, clean, warm and cozy. We saw deer in the evening and rabbits in front of our house in the morning. We felt like it was our home. Our landlord was very friendly and available at any time. We love this house!
It was a great house where you directly feel like being at home. Our dog was very happy after he inspected the house and the garden around it. Our dog, a Shetland sheepdog, is very cautious and vigilant, but at that place he was so calm and had a deep sleep! After we found out where we can take a walk without walking beside the main road, we enjoyed the quiet area. At our arrival it was not easy to find the right time to leave the main road and we passed by the house two times. We loved the big windows of the house, the temperature regulation and the quality of the air inside the house was ...more
The Mill is a beautiful house with lots of character. Absolutely everything we needed was provided and we felt very much at home. The house was warm, It was very clean, there’s lots of space and the showers were great - important after a long day walking! Seamus and Maggie gave us a lovely welcome and were very kind. The location is great. It was lovely to walk down to the shore of the beautiful bay at sunset and look out for the otters and seals. It’s very close to so many beautiful places in Skye including the falls of Rha, the fairy glen, and the Quairang. It made a great base...more
Staying at 10 Husabost was the best decision we made on our 2.5 week trip to Scotland and England. The 5 days we spent on Skye were perfect, in no small part due to our excellent accommodations. The Croft is absolutely stunning, inside and out!! Soooo clean and welcoming upon arrival. Every single detail has been thought out, you can tell love from the owners has been poured into the house. The set-up was perfect for our family of five. I slept the best I have in years on the comfortable king bed. We enjoyed cooking in the beautiful and well-stocked kitchen, walking around the area, driving to...more
Wunderschöne Umgebung, tollesHaus mit allem was man sich wünscht. Der Anfahrtsweg wurde super beschrieben.
An ideal cottage for a couple. The owners are very kind and helpfull. Handy central location on the Isle of Skye. You can walk to the town center and still benefit from a very calm environment.
We have had a wonderful stay at Ard Choille. The property had everything we needed for a week and the sunroom boasted beautiful views which were ever changing due to the weather in Skye.
Amazing view of the Loch from both the sitting room and bedroom which we just couldn’t stop looking at! Even a red deer wandered past in the field next to the cottage one evening. Very comfortable bed and the kitchen was well equipped. Lots to do and see on the island. Would thoroughly recommend.
We had the most wonderful two nights at Bonn Na Cnoc. Such a beautiful place, very spacious, very true to the description and pictures provided. It had every amenity we could possibly want. We loved the location. We will hope to stay here on any and all returning trips to Skye.
Fantastic sunsets across the bay and a short walk to a sheltered beach. Cottage has plenty of space for a family of four and the drying room and shed give extra storage for any sports equipment you might bring. Kitchen is well equipped. Location is slightly out of the way for some of the tourist hotspots and therefore stays quiet - highly recommended
Had a lovely 5 days at Taobh na Mara with my 3 kids aged from 6 to teens. The cottage was just as described - even better than the photos. Newly refurbished and perfectly clean. We appreciated the washer and tumble dryer and Nespresso machine. The location is brilliant - not in town but close enough to get supplies easily and reach a lot of the sights within about half an hour - we visited the Fairy Glen, Old Man of Storr, Fairy Pools (a bit further, around 45 mins). The loch views are very peaceful in the morning and evening and it’s wonderfully quiet.
We’ve a very very pleasant stay in Alderburn 1. The location is just marvellous and the house very comfortable: Everything you would need -and more- is there! The heating was pre-programmed and 1 radiator of the master bedroom had a broken thermostatic valve. This caused a high temperature in the room when going to bed. Later this is handled by a plumber: perfect. The communication with both the owner and Islands and Highlands Cottages was always very good and with quick response. A perfect location for a potential future trip to Skye.
We stayed for one week with our children and friends with their children. The house was beautiful, with a great view, and great setup for big groups (4 rooms, 5 bathrooms) with a big kitchen (including two dishwashers which were really useful)! The view on the sea was great, as well as the fire place. The jacuzzi was a real plus to relax after a hike. The location was very convenient to explore the isle of Skye. Communication was very friendly, professional and efficient.
Lovely chalet, lovely position. Well equipped and comfortable. only drawback is lack of enclosed garden for dog owners. We had a relaxing stay.
An Caladh is a very well-equipped cottage to a high standard. The views all round are outstanding, especially to Macleods Tables to the west. The cottage has wild moorland all round it and we particularly liked the profusion of wild spotted and butterfly orchids within the garden fence, as well as the wild birds to watch, such as local short-eared owl. The best walk nearby is to Harlosh headland for some wonderful sea views. Also Dunvegan, the tidal island of Oronsay and the coral beaches are not very far away. Overall we enjoyed a very quiet and peaceful week exploring the NW part of Skye a...more
Very modern and comfortable cottage in a quiet location overlooking the sea. The house has a lot of natural daylight and is very well equipped with quality furniture and crockery. From every room, you have the feeling of being in nature, you can watch the sheep pass in front of the house. It is the perfect cottage for a short break or holiday on Skye.
The lady at the reception Ms. Jemma was kind enough to help us with a last minute reservation of 2 rooms. We were left stranded in Fort Williams as our original hotel cancelled our booking without any intimation. Ms. Jemma was very patient, kind and accommodating and really helped us with the reservation over the call. The hotel is great for location and the comfortable rooms. Will highly reccommend this property to everyone.
easy to access yet secluded; great internal spaces with views in al direction to Storr, The Quraing and across the sea to Lewis - what more does anyone need?
Tigh Anndra is a beautifully equipped cottage for a couple. We have been twice and just love the wilderness of the cottage, just sweeping views of the mountains. It is a special place for us, watching the swallows fly and the sheep come and go across from the moor. There is a handy bus service that can get you to Portree and Uig. We liked the lack of wifi. It gave us time to truly disconnect. Thank you Angus for our stay.
The cottage is well located for exploring Skye. Sleeps six comfortably and has all the necessities for day to day life.Good beds, bathrooms(2) all the kitchen equipment and a large lounge, Have no hesitation in recommending this cottage
We really enjoyed our stay at Taigh Uilleim. It is in a fabulous spot with lots of parking and a wrap around garden. Downstairs there are big windows that allow you to enjoy the fabulous views, you could sit there and watch the wildlife for quite some time. We had hares, an owl and many birds visit the garden. The location is very peaceful yet just a few minutes from the main road with Dunvegan village just a few minutes away. The property is well equipped, comfortable and spacious, it may possibly need a little refresh on the paint internally in the not too distant future. We wouldn't hesitat...more
Tidal cottage is a lovely place to stay for a few days, very peaceful. We saw otters in front of the cottage on a nightly basis.
Everything was even better than we hoped. All items in the cottage worked. The view was outstanding and the location allowed for easy travel all around the island.
We spent 3 unforgettable days in this wonderful cottage We enjoyed very much the beautiful decoration of each room Al was marvellous! The beds so confortable the large and beautiful kitchen the nice garden and the location with the sea at the end of the garden! Thank you so much for all this beauty and for the very good Tallisker!
This was a marvellous place, the location a delight for views of mountain and the rising and ebbing tides, passing sheep, fishing heron, calling curlews. Well equipped house, including kitchen, laundry, bookshelves, and very comfortable beds. Underfloor heating kept temperature pleasant - Goldilocks style. THere was wood for fires but we didn't bother, as we were constantly looking out at the sea and sky. Bedding and towels were of good quality and very comfortable. If I were to be picky, I'd say there's a little updating required, a few fittings showing their age in some (but not all) o...more
Skye is such a beautiful part of our country and the views from 9 Achnacloich are truly amazing. The cottage is lovely and very comfortable. We enjoyed the quiet location and also the weather during our stay, which allowed us to dine outside as we overlooked the bay. Very special. The staff at Island and Highlands Cottages were very helpful. We will definitely be booking through this agency again !
A perfect house in a beautiful neighborhood. Very quiet and a bit distant but for us an excellent location.
Lovely comfortable cottage. Great location. Only 2 mins from Portree centre. Owner very friendly and explained how everything in cottage worked. Great welcome pack to start you off. Loved our week here. Would recommend to family and friends.
Everything was comfortable, but the heating didn't work during two days and the cleanliness of the dishes could be better.
We enjoyed our stay at Alan’s house. It is in a great location and has a wonderful view of Staffin Bay. The house is well stocked with all the amenities that you need. We were fortunate to see an amazing sunset on our first night staying here. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to Isle of Skye.
The old school house is a quiet location by the sea shore, feeling relax & comfortable. Good spacious & clean
If Plockton is the 'Jewel of the Highlands' - as it undoubtedly is - then Tigh na Dalach is the Koh-i-Noor of cottages. Superbly situated, equipped and maintained. We enjoyed a superb fortnight; thank you so much.
Our third time staying here. As always, very comfortable, very clean and a great place to relax and take in the stunning scenery. Beds are fantastic! A good, central location for exploring the island.
We stayed at Sorley's house for a couple nights on the Isle of Skye. It was so nice being away from it all. The beach with dinosaur footprints are literally right below the house. The views over the bay were incredible. The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable. A great couple of nights away.
We’re a party of 5 1/2 and loved staying in the cottage. Near nice walks and the town centre. Would recommend.
Just wee dust on the windows but all the beds towels and toilets were clean and some spots and some of the kitchen's wear handle broken but there were all everything you need. The cottage were so cosy and good funtionality. The location was great. we loved it. Thanks
Florrie's is a very comfortable holiday home. A lovely bed, a beautiful bathroom, a comfortable sofa, a well-equipped kitchen, a beautiful view over the bay and also a garden. Very cosy!
The cottage was great and had a wonderful time. Thank you! Visited old man storr , portree, coral bay, the quadrang all good amazing
A lovely quiet location, only 2 minute to the shore. Seals aplenty! Lots of birds etc. The croft is typically small but everything you need is within it. A fantastic break for us. I would certainly return here. Everyone we met in Skye were extremely friendly and welcoming....so refreshing.
We found Ewen's House to be a great value and excellent out-of-the-way base of operations for exploring the Trotternish area, with just a superb view of the Quiraing right out the front window. But do not make the same mistake I did and overlook the fact that there is no WiFi (if you need WiFi). The property manager(s) are very helpful/responsive to any questions/problems that might arise.
We had a lovely week staying in the cottage. It had everything we needed, including a very useful dryer for when the weather was a bit damp! The enclosed garden was excellent for our energetic dog, with a wonderful view across the water to the next peninsula. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of room for us all. The location might be a little remote for some people, but we really appreciated the peace and quiet, when the rest of the island was busy with summer visitors. There are good walks from the door, and excellent tea and cake at the Yurt Cafe just down the road. The owner ca...more
Fantastic holiday at this accommodation ~ so impressed I’ve already booked for next year ~ Thank you to all concerned
This is a review from a dog friendly perspective to try and help other visitors with dogs. We have 4 dogs and were grateful to the owners for allowing us to bring them, it is always worth an ask. The property is a cottage in the middle of essentially open ground. While there is stock fencing surrounding the exterior, it is by no means secure so if you have an inquisitive pooch, keep them on lead outside. There can be livestock around (there are horses in the next field). Interior, the kitchen is quite small but still lends itself to a place where you can towel down a wet dog etc, we alway...more
Beautiful village, with beautiful people. Unfortunately the house wasn't as good as we expected. It is run down, not cleaned properly and kitchen is in necessity of redesigning. Overall bottom floor needs bit more attention in every aspect. On the other side, first floor of the house is very nice, the beds are comfortable, very well designed with wooden floor and nice touches with furniture. With a refurbishment on the bottom floor, this could be an excellent house, as its location and size is good.
I have stayed many times at the Stationmaster's House but this is the first privately. Good accommodation and location.
This is a very comfortable modern house, well appointed with 3.5 bathrooms, 3 double bedrooms and a study/single room. It's well furnished and decorated in a slightly bland Highland style The location is good but the views are a bit limited especially when compared to other parts of Skye. There are some slightly over-complicated instructions for the rubbish - this should be taken care of by the cleaners/ owners. The only negative is the cost - it is very expensive for what it is.
10 Torrin is a renovated open plan croft house in a location that can only be described as delightful, in the lush meadows of Torrin township below the Red Cuillin mountains, with the shores of Loch Slapin within easy walking distance. The location is ideal for hill walking, with stunning Bla Bheinn and the Red Cuillin on the doorstep, as well as lots of local low level walks. The house itself is well equipped and has plenty of room for 4, and was clean and tidy upon arrival. Unfortunately the shower broke the week before our stay, but we were informed beforehand and were offered a full refun...more
Disappointing to find that the cottage wasn't clean on arrival. There were crumbs on the table, the second bed looked like it had been slept in, the en suite bathroom window sill was a midge graveyard. Under the main bed appeared not to have been swept and we found a Waterstones receipt under the bed from 2021. The toilet obviously hadn't been flushed when the last person left - the bowl had toilet paper in it and hadn't been flushed after being used last. Can provide photo if necessary. The housekeeper arrived with a bag of gifts, which was kind, but we had asked them to carry out a proper cl...more
The condition of the cottage needs maintenance. Doors en windows don't close or open properly. But the view and environment are breathtaking.we had a lovely week at Alt Slapin
The cottage needs a renovation, especially for that price. Besides wonderful looks it is situated quite far away from the main areas of Sky. Just Dunvegan Castle is nearby.
Location of this cottage was great . It was comfortable and clean but could do with a washing machine and cloths airer
Very tidy cottage, cozy living area, well equipped kitchen and serviceable bathroom. The location of the house by the water, while still just off the main road, means you get to enjoy the beautiful surrounding coastal landscape (with a great view of Scalpay to boot) all the while having no trouble getting back on the road to see the sights of Skye. A short (10 minute) drive to Broadford to get your shopping done and you can easily retreat back to the quiet of the cottage to settle down with a book on the comfortable couches. There are quite some DVDs for younger children available should the w...more
