We spent a week at the Courtyard Cottage, we were very impressed at the very high standard of accommodation. Well situated above the town of Barnstaple with stunning views of the North Devon Countryside, it was within easy reach of the coastal resorts (15-20 minutes by car) Mika and Mark were both welcoming and very helpful, full of information about North Devon, they were always on hand but never intrusive. This is a little Gem situated in North Devon and we will definitely be back,
Would recommend the Shepherds Shed to anyone wanting a peaceful retreat to wind down. The Shed was immaculate and comfortable with everything you need and lovely accommodating owners. We had the best week for weather and hope to return for another glorious stay.
The Linhay cottage at Wheel Farm, was a perfect base for our family holiday, a fantastic location, very high standard of accommodation, set on lovely grounds, with a wonderful indoor pool on site. The owners made us feel very welcomed and we will be returning next year. Many thanks.
After having had our holiday to Portugal scuppered, I went about trying to find an alternative. I spent most of the day searching the internet to no avail. Of course, everywhere's going to be booked! No one can travel abroad. What was I thinking? The Sun and the stars or whatever the saying is must have all been in alignment for me that day. I spotted Diana's Cottage. It looked perfect! After emailing My Favourite Cottages. The lovely Amanda replied within the hour. Happily, As the cottage was new to the market it was available, we were going to be Diana's Cottage's first official Guests. We...more
We had a fantastic stay at The Hen House. The location is perfect - it's surrounded by fields but only a short drive to the coast. The sundeck with the loungers, table-set and hot-tub is perfect for catching the sunshine and taking in the amazing view across the fields and we loved watching the cows in the field below the sundeck. The owners were really friendly and helpful and the extra touch of placing a bottle of milk, clotted cream, home-made jam and scones as a welcome gift was amazing - the scones were delicious. The interior was was warm and comfortable with everything we needed to make...more
We have just returned from a lovely week at the Coachman's Quarters. This has been equipped with everything you would need. Dishwasher, washing machine (with clothes airer and folding laundry basket), plenty of cooking implements to cook up a storm. In a great location to join the South West coastal path or stroll around the corner to the local mini markets/butchers for food, close to the top of the cliff railway but very secure with the coded gate lock. The terrace was a lovely sheltered spot to look out over the bay. Netflix on the TV was an added bonus and the reclining sofa was divine...more
Stayed July 2021 - firstly the pictures don’t do it justice it’s is even better than it looks. Really well furnished, spacious and very comfortable. We loved it. All details had been thought of and even a dog bed and dog treats! Hot tub is a lovely bonus although not a big one so used in shifts by our family. It is in the lovely Devon countryside so you have to be prepared to travel a little but that added to it for us. 20 ish mins to Woolacombe. Would go back in a heartbeat we all loved it. Thanks for a great stay
A fantastic clean home very close to the beach and all the amenities. Lovely friendly couple who own it and fabulous neighbours. Great location for other local beaches. Will visit again. Thank you Nikki and Mark
Lots to do, hotel was very accommodating visited Barnstaple, Westward Ho and Lynmouth! +Tennis/golf
We were lucky to get this booking following a cancellation and enjoyed our week there. The location is excellent, overlooking the beach and the town. Whilst there are 4 rentals on the same property, we had no problems with parking or with even generally seeing the other guests. Once inside, everything was clean and well kept, with everything we needed. The barbecue and hot tub certainly saw some use as we relaxed watching the sunset. We would happily stay again if we return to the area. Finally, the service from the team and the correspondence was excellent making everything run very smoothly.
We have just got back from a week at Ford Hill Cottage. The cottage is absolutely stunning with everything you could want. It has been beautifully decorated and is exceptionally clean. The area for barbecuing looks over the huge lawn and is a delightful place to eat an evening meal and chill out with a glass of wine after a day out. We decided to eat in every night as the weather was so fantastic and the cottage was kitted out with everything we could possibly need. Its location was perfect for us - in the middle of beautiful countryside with the sound of sheep and birdsong but near beaches an...more
I enjoyed a lovely stay at Wheel Farm Cottages. The Cottage itself was very comfortable and in an idyllic setting with plenty of space to roam around outside. The swimming pool was brilliant, and shallow enough at one end for my 5 year old to stand up, which made things a lot more relaxing for me! The location of the cottages is really good - it is within a very short drive of several villages, towns and beautiful beaches. We enjoyed days out to Combe Dinosaur and Wildlife Park, Woolacombe beach, Combe Martin beach, Ilfracombe (where we went on a boat trip to see seals) and Clovelly, and n...more
House was beautiful. Very well equipped and plenty of space for everyone to spread out. Had some lovely meals in the huge dining room. We really enjoyed using the hot tub and pool table. Spacious grounds with a secret gate to Lydford Gorge. Lots of lovely local walks and wonderful scenery.
We had a wonderful family holiday in the Exmoor Farmhouse. It is in the most incredibly peaceful location with glorious views. The house is huge with plenty of space for everyone. It is full of beautiful paintings and very comfortable. It has a large kitchen and dining room which were perfect for family meals. An ideal location for large groups of family or friends wanting to explore Exmoor.
Every single one of us loved staying in the house, it was beautifully decorated and well equipped for all our needs. The garden and veranda areas was perfect for bbqs, quiet drinks and yoga with the sunrise. Internally the bedrooms were comfy, cost and the downstairs area was perfect for chilling and dining, the kitchen had everything we needed - it was well stocked. The location was ideal as it was close to Braunton with many shops, takeaways and coffee pick ups. We also spent alot of time at Saunton Sands which was just down the road, which is a great surf beach. Thank you for accommodating ...more
Stunning scenery, we enjoyed using the hot tub but it wasn’t our priority for choosing this property, fantastic weather, what more can I say.
Seaglass Cottage is modern, stylish and beautifully furnished. When we arrived everything was absolutely spotless and there was a great pack explaining everything we needed to know about the accommodation and the local area. A really nice touch was fresh flowers in a vase on the kitchen table and a box of chocolates. The hot tub was a little too hot for me so after a quick phone call Sarah arranged for someone to come and adjust it. Everything you could possibly need is provided from the Nespresso coffee machine to a great gas barbecue (with great wipes to clean it with) We had a ...more
We enjoyed a family holiday here in 3 adjoining accommodations. The grounds were lovely to wander around and the dog walking field was great to exercise the dog. Loads of BBQs to enjoy using and numerous places to sit outside. Plenty to see and do around the area. Steam train, National Trust, RHS Rosemoor, lovely towns, Exmoor Zoo. So many lovely beaches to choose from. We enjoyed the pool and actually COVID rules to book and have exclusivity for an hour per accommodation worked really well. Not sure if that will continue but would suggest it should! Pool could be warmed up a bit as we felt ...more
A lovely, well equipped cottage in a fine location. Good views and so quiet! Many thoughtful touches provided by the owners.
The Shippen is like a home from home, only better, as its only a short walk to the centre of Fowey and also, to Readymoney Cove and onwards on the wonderful coast path. The situation is private and peaceful, set back from the Pontevillion Road.
very friendly welcome and enjoyable stay .a relaxing week many places to visit only min away from cottage
A lovely secluded peaceful location and a well maintained property with plenty of space and very good facilities. The swimming pool was great to have in such very hot weather and the meadow with picnic benches was a great alternative to lying on a crowded beach - we used it for meals outdoors too. The owners Ali and Richard were very welcoming and helpful. It’s seclusion means it’s a bit remote when it comes to getting into Coombe Martin on foot ( journey back is up a very steep hill!) The Hayloft was big enough for two and was well equipped It would have benefited from a bistro table...more
A wonderful property balancing the traditional charm of a country cottage, with the modern amenities you would expect. The site is spacious and incredibly well maintained with wonderful planting and spacious grounds, including a fantastic play park. The cottage lacks for nothing - with all the utensils and items you may need, and is lovingly decorated with a wonderful traditional character. The location was perfect for beaches, coastal sites and attractions within a 10-30 minute drive.
We highly recommend No 8 Devon Beach Court. Always extremely clean, comfortable and inviting. Jenny's 'little touches' are lovely and make you feel welcome and completely 'at home'. The location is excellent - across the road from Barricane Beach and literally a 10 minute walk to Woolacombe or Coombesgate beaches. We are already looking at booking again for next year!
Lovely place. Cottage just a little bijou but very clean and well appointed. Only one drawback, couldn't get telephone connection without travelling up the road although Wifi was fine. Alli and Richard were very friendly and the swimming pool a bonus.
Fantastic location for hillwalking and touring. Great views from lounge of lochs and mountains - spectacular sunsets (weather dependant). Wildlife in garden - badger, buzzard, sparrows, siskins, robins, blackbirds and more. Seals nearby and deer just off road. On previous occasion pine marten visited. Great lounge. Nice well equipped kitchen and utility room. Comfortable beds. Great food and beer at Dornie Lodge. Wide selection of good eating and dining in Plockton also nearby Kintail Lodge and Clunie Inn. Small shop selling bread, milk, ready meals, ice cream, frozen food 5 min wa...more
An absolutely stunning, luxurious and spacious property with incredible coastal views and only five minutes walk to the beach. Perfect for our family of five adults and five grandchildren aged 5-10. Owners have put so much care and attention into every detail to make it a truly wonderful holiday home. The hot tub was a huge hit as was toasting marshmallows on the fire pit at the end of each day! Yes, there are steps to the property but so worth it for the views. Car parking on a private road a real bonus as was easy access to shops and restaurants. Already booked to return but not surprisingly...more
A lovely stay...just one or two details- a dryer would be a bonus as would some plastic plates and tumblers for children to use. The towel rail in the main bathroom wasn’t working(we had to use the other one to air some washing as we couldn’t get radiators to work either). Excellent to have downstairs toilet and separate utility room. Comfortable furniture and beds.
We had a lovely week at Dolly’s barn with our family. Everything was spotlessly clean on arrival and the house was well equipped - we had everything we needed. The gardens are extensive and beautiful with a great play area which worked so well for the children. It is in an ideal location for beaches and coast walks. We had a great time - which we could have stayed for longer!
We had a very lovely week here, the hot tub was a delight, beds very comfy and wonderful location. Might be a bit easier if parking was a little closer to the house. Cream tea was a lovely surprise. Thank you
We had a lovely time in this delightful cottage, good location and everything we needed. Would definitely recommend.
Our stay was so quiet and relaxing in such a comfortable home. The apartment had so much space and everything had been thought of to make it a really lovely stay. We will definitely come back.
We had a really great family holiday here. The location was perfect for visiting attractions and the house and gardens were big and spacious with amazing views which was perfect for a family holiday while still giving everyone their own space. We had everything we needed. Jean was very friendly and welcoming and we will definitely be back. The history of the house was also very interesting.
We had a great stay at Higher Mullacott. The Farmhouse has superb communal living spaces and everything is fresh and new. Lovely and cool inside during a very hot week, the garden has plenty of sun and shade but you can hear the road. Very convenient for both Ilfracombe and Woolacombe but you have to drive everywhere. Super and efficient caretakers on site who stopped at nothing to make sure we were happy and comfortable. It is close to the other houses but hardly saw anyone else. Very comfy beds and linens all top notch. Definitely recommended!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cottage had everything we wanted, and was very comfortable to be in. It is in a peaceful location and easy access to lovely places to visit.
The farmhouse is 10-15minutes drive to Croyde and Woolacombe. Extremely clean. Lovely garden. Very remote, you must have a car, but this made it peaceful and safe for the children to play. Would highly recommend.
Exceptional cottage, spacious with high quality fixtures and fittings. With beautiful views and close to all amenities. Dog friendly and safe with an enclosed garden. Plenty of parking just outside.
Really enjoyed our stay at Talland Croft. Great size for a large family getaway. Sufficient facilities available to use. Ideally situated for beach, walking, pub and shopping. Would help if the left-hand bushes were trimmed back to allow 2 cars into the driveway as local residents regularly parked in front of the house. This made it a bit inconvenient to park at the house.
A beautiful property in the heart of the countryside. Very clean and homely. Pretty garden and great little swimming pool. Great for dogs and kids and owners very friendly and helpful.
It is a quaint cottage set in the most magical setting where time slows to allow a complete recharge of yourself. It really is rural but never far from a maddening crowd whenever you want to step into either the local towns or incredible coastline walks and towns that are dotted along the Jurassic coastline
We were delighted with our stay the cottage, was beautiful in picturesque surroundings the cottage was lovely inside as well.So peaceful with great walks the hosts were brilliant couldn’t do enough for you. Making sure everything was okay, advising on places to stay, would highly recommend.
In the heart of Braunton and on the right side so you avoid traffic on the way to the beaches well restored and comfortable cottage with huge garden easy parking great value for money - recommended!
Just back from a week staying at Sunset Beach in Croyde. Exceptionally clean and well equipped, the 4-bed house was perfect for a family of 6 adults, a toddler and a baby. Minutes from the beach and village centre, we were also ideally placed for exploring the coast north to Woolacombe and south to Saunton Sands. Highly recommended. Thank you.
We have stayed at fairways East before some years ago it did not disappoint, house lovely plenty of space very clean, plenty of equipment in the house, we ate in the hotel each night food was fab Staff very friendly, we had b fast also on our departure date lovely but pricy for what you got, the facilities are excellent at Highbullen under normal non COVID circumstances billiards, outdoor pool to cold now though, golf, Simulator, surrounding area is very remote the tight lanes are fun, Lovely for walks though
The complex was very nice and we enjoyed staying there. However we had tried to book Fairways East which is smaller and would have been more practical for us but the website said it was fully booked.. It was empty for the duration of our stay - disappointing. We were very pleased with the quality of the appliances and furniture. The small patio would have benefited with being weeded and decorated with tubs of flowers. The swimming pools were excellent as were the tennis courts. We played golf and the course was generally in good condition but work was needed on the greens. The Cellars re...more
We stayed for a few nights in October and had a very enjoyable time. It’s a nice little place tucked well away in the countryside and the hosts were very pleasant and accommodating. Would highly recommend this place for a couple wishing to explore the east/ south Devon area.
We greatly enjoyed our stay at Magnolia Cottage. The cottage itself was clean, comfortable and spacious, and the garden and outlook are just delightful. We found it easy to access the sweep of beaches just north of it and loved visiting all of them and experiencing their differences. Shopping in Barnstaple supermarkets was easy (lots of them) and the train station was very handy for one of our party who joined us.
A very pleasant weeks stay at The Stables Parkgate Tawstock. A splendid family cottage with so much room for my family. Lots of games to play and a lovely tennis court to use. A beautiful view over the fields and countryside and the added gorgeous weeks weather made our stay wonderful. A very well equipped kitchen and I can’t think of anything that was missing that we needed to use. As it was very hot some fans would have been nice but luckily we brought a couple from home. I would recommend this cottage to anyone and especially to a large family like mine.
Great location within walking distance to the beach. Comfortable house, perfect for holiday with friends.
Being in a listed building, the flat is more interesting than often is the case, The location is excellent, with splendid views from the sitting room and terrace that provided hours of gentle relaxation, The fixtures and fittings are fine and comfortable, although constrained to some extent by the fact the building is listed. Having three good pubs within a hundred yards is a bonus, as is falling out of the front door with the dog onto the beach and coast path. My only criticism would be despite a plethora of glasses in the flat, we were unable to find two reasonable wine glasses - and the fla...more
The cottage is in a beautiful peaceful location and the description is accurate. It is on a farm and as described the access road is a bit bumpy, and you can expect the usual farm yard type animal noises. The outside of the cottage(s) is beginning to look a little tired with flaking paintwork. The kitchen is well equipped and their was loaf of bread and jam on arrival. Inside the property was well cleaned, but a little scruffy around the ages. For example there are various places where cracks have been filled, but not repainted, like over the landing window where a curtain rail has been remov...more
See above A very nice house in a beautiful location with a stunning view. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Loved our stay! Cottage was perfect for our needs. Exmoor was gloriously awash with autumn colour. Many thanks for all
10 of us (6 plus 4 kids) enjoyed family holiday in this well equipped house. Garden was great too. Wi-intermittently working. No facility for recycling waste. Contrary to advice there is no facility at nearby Morrisons (Newquay) and no facility for collection. We ended up going to the council recycling centre. I am sure some guests would resort to putting in the general waste. For these reasons would say 8 out of 10.
This is our 7th time to Instow, we just love it. Location amazing and a beautiful beach on your door step. Fantastic bars and restaurants a couple of doors away. Delicious deli close by. Little Ferry usually runs, seasonal across to Appledore, but wasn’t running this time. Off street parking an advantage but awkward to enter with a large car. The apartment needs modernising for our taste, new kitchen and bathroom is really required. We found the mattresses on the doubles not comfortable. Garden lovely and private and great for the dogs.
We were very happy with our stay in Stag lodge. We wanted to mountain bike near the Torridon area so this cottage was perfect for our needs. We loved the drying room and access to a washer and a dryer. The house is situated above a main road but we didn’t notice the traffic and the view from the living room was brilliant.
Beautifully positioned in a quiet village with decent pub food nearby. It does need some travel to get to likely touring spots. The layout is very good, being a barn/byre conversion. It would be good to have a better shower facility in the main bedroom though, to avoid morning queues for the one that serves the rest of the house. there is a bath and shower attachment in the en suite but we never take a bath, only showers. The television when we were there had a bit of a mind of its own when trying to change channels and adjust the volume - we had to switch off and start again. Not sure if it's...more
I will never stay again due to the Owner not being very welcoming on arrival he was more concerned about the bins etc. We didn’t like the fact that in the living room an adjoining door allowed access by the owner so didn’t feel comfortable about this. Also because of two kittens We couldn’t let our dog of the lead near The cottage. This was not mentioned prior booking up. Also we had to buy a frying pan as the one we replace was unsatisfactory. The carpet was in poor condition. Otherwise the location was excellent. Too bad about the very narrow country lanes.
