Just returned from a stay in this beautiful cottage. Our hosts Mika and Mark couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. They contacted us before our holiday started and provided very detailed information of what to expect on arrival, what was provided and how everything worked. The cottage was very clean, spacious and light and airy and we felt relaxed the minute we walked in the door. It is obvious that a lot of thought and planning has gone into making this cottage a luxurious yet practical place to stay with everything you could possibly need and more. The location was good too. We couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more at The Shepherd’s Shed. The booking process was really simple and the hosts were really lovely. The Shepherd’s shes itself was immaculate and it has everything you need - it’s been done perfectly. The hot tub was the highlight - we ended up using it far more than we planned to because it was so nice. Another bonus - the shower had hot water!
Seaweed is an amazing property situated within a few hundred yards walk from the shops, takeaways, restaurants, pubs and beach. Despite its central location it is tucked away in a quiet private road. Seaweed is light, airy, spacious and immaculately clean. There is real attention to detail and the property is well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The hosts are amazing and were incredibly helpful from the outset, answering all our queries and ensuring we had everything we needed for our stay. You could not ask for a better holiday property or location. Our entire holiday was a ...more
We had the bestest time at the hen house. Everything was absolutely perfect.big thank you for Shawn for his prompt action regarding the hot tub....absolutely gem of a place. We loved it so much we have booked again for next year. Thanx again for an absolute brilliant holiday
Three generations of our family have just spent a lovely relaxing week at the farmhouse. Everything we needed was provided, it was spotlessly clean and spacious. The beds were all comfortable and the views were to die for. It was exciting to see the sheep in the adjacent field. The children could run around on the lawn and you could shut the gate to keep animals in. The hot tub was amazing and well used. We appreciated the prosecco and fudge when we arrived, thank you. We would certainly return to Park View Farmhouse again.
Really lovely, comfortable cottage. Has been very thoughtfully equipped and its clear the owner has taken a lot of trouble to make sure it is comfortable for guests. Really comfy beds. Lovely garden with good outdoor seating. Great location for visiting numerous places. Games room was a wonderful amenity for our teenager. Had a great week and we will certainly visit again.
A lovely cottage, a real home from home, Nice, peaceful and relaxing holiday All the coastal towns in easy reach The attention to detail and unexpected extras were a real treat
A fabulous house which is remote but easy to find. Its perfect for the Lydford Gorge. Clean, comfortable and has everything you would need. Wifi is patchy (it works in the front bedroom, the hallway and one living room) and there is little phone signal so its worth planning around that. But it was lovely not to be slaves to technology for a long weekend. The welcome was friendly. The outside space is incredible. Highly recommended.
Perfect house for our half term break in Devon. The kids loved playing in the garden and visiting the horses and donkeys in the field next door. The views are spectacular and the hot tub is an added bonus! Great location close to Barnstaple and Braunton - we visited Saunton Sands, Croyde and Westward Ho! beaches while we were there, as well as a trip to Watermouth Castle which I would highly recommend for kids.
We fell in love with this house . It’s perfect , it’s so beautifully done and you get the feeling Sarah has put her heart and soul in to it. It has absolutely everything you need . We can’t wait to go back next year. Julie and Rich
We enjoyed staying at Diana’s Cottage and found it a very peaceful place. It is close to Staunton Sands and the coast which was convenient. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage was well equipped. Fiona was on hand to help with the queries we had.
Stayed at shippen many times Excellent cottage and location Cottage very clean and comfortable Highly recomended
The Garden Cottage provided very comfortable accommodation in a great location for our week in North Devon. A very peaceful spot but only a few minutes drive for essentials. Great Torrington is the local town with an interesting history, lots of local walks and direct access to the Tarka Trail. And of course, the cream tea awaiting us on arrival was much appreciated! Thank you for a lovely stay.
The cottage is great and really spacious and the noise does not travel from downstairs to the bedrooms upstairs. The facilities on site are wonder with a bbq, ping pong table & Children’s play area. I would really appreciate recommend.
Great holiday home very comfortable and clean all bedrooms excellent and bathrooms well appointed living quarters superb with well appointed kitchen great outdoor decking area would recommend property anytime.
Amazing stay, great location, lovely hosts, very clean and tidy and pool was icing on the cake. Would stay again definitely
Although informed that scaffolding was present for our stay it was most disappointing to find that the balcony to give us a sea view was gone
Hi Just to say we had a lovely week in this wonderful cottage! It was very clean and more than well equipped. It had loads of DVDS you could watch and a surprise cream tea waiting for us on arrival. Scones were delicious! It is very quiet as it’s in the middle of no where with beautiful views. Just what my husband and I needed to get away from everything! Also a private hot tub which was great to unwind. Can’t wait to book it again. I would thoroughly recommend it! Sue
Having decided we wanted to go to Devon on our first family holiday, we set upon searching for a holiday cottage and we’re so pleased to find Higher Mullacott farm. We had great communication from Tina and Mark ahead of our booking and a helpful welcome email the week before our arrival. Upon arriving at Aggie’s cottage we were really impressed with the cleanliness of the cottage and how much it felt like gone away from home. It had everything (and more!) that we needed. The location was absolutely perfect. Although you can’t really walk anywhere from here as it’s off of a main road, it...more
When we arrived at Wheel Farm, at around 5pm, there was no one at reception. It turns out that the new owners had a significant problem with the properties, and staffing, but tried their best to answer queries etc when they were on site. The whole complex was very impressive and when refurbished will be brilliant. Linhay was comfortable, but would be very overcrowded if the maximum 6 people were accommodated.
My family (6 adults and 3 children age 16, 13 and 7 and our dog Millie) recently stayed at Coast View over the Easter break. We stayed a week and loved every single bit of our stay at Coast View. It was fully equipped with everything we needed, we especially liked the fact that there was lots of glasses, cups, plates, cutlery and not limited to 10. All the beds were comfortable and there was enough towels for everybody, including towels to be used for the hot tub. There was plenty of space for people to have their own space if needed. My son really enjoyed the little snug area in the...more
Perfectly located, plenty of space inside and out. Well equipped kitchen area. Clean comfy beds. Big squishy sofas which are great for the youngsters, there was one firmer chair...could have done with another (for the older members of our party). Altogether a great holiday cottage with plenty of character.
Beautiful situation and surroundings. Wonderful conservatory/lounge to sit and take in the view. Kitchen well equipped. Lashings of hot water. The owners extremely kind and helpful and keen to make sure we were well provided for. We found the dining room a little too small to really be able to relax in over meals.
Finally there 2 years after booking due to COVID. Had a great stay in a lovely area, very comfortable accommodation.
Beautiful property and location. The only down side was not being able to park up when we arrived after a long journey, and more comfortable chairs needed in lounge where the plug sockets under tv were an eye sore.
Exmoor Farmhouse was just what we wanted, a beautiful location and amazing house with room for all the family to spread out comfortably. Fantastic views and places nearby to enjoy the wonderful countryside. The younger members of the family really enjoyed the games room. We had a wonderful week. Thank you to the owners for sharing their beautiful home.
Cannot fault the property or the site, for me it was a little isolated and needed a car journey for anything. Good base to explore the area for local attractions.
We loved High Bullen and would certainly return. It is excellent for family holidays with grandparents, children and grandchildren - lots to do to keep everyone happy. Staff were friendly and helpful, the swimming pool was wonderful - very clean and a perfect temperature. Tennis courts, golf and snooker were enjoyed by everyone in the family. Very few negatives, but personally we found the uphill trek from Deer View cottage to be a bit steep for grandparents. We would book Fairway East/West another time. The golf course was fun for holiday golf but the trolleys were not good - buggies wer...more
Nuide Farmhouse is the perfect base for a summer stay in the Cairngorms - it is ideally located a short drive from Aviemore and also down to the southern highlands. The property is surrounded by beautiful hills and the River Spey is only a few minutes walk from the bottom of the garden. The house itself is huge and provides fantastic accommodation for a large family, with a large living room, dining room and relaxed breakfast room. The property is furnished and decorated very tastefully and hits just the right balance with being comfortable and not overly formal. This was our second tim...more
We really enjoyed our stay at Northleigh House - it was the perfect getaway nestled in a gorgeous valley that stretches all the way to the beach. The house was spacious, clean and comfortable with lots of different areas for chats/activities, we also really enjoyed the hot tub and lush garden! Such a beautiful spot, would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet weekend in the Devon countryside. The only reason for the 4 in the comfort is that two of the rooms in the main house don’t have a proper partition so there isn’t much privacy between them. But the beds, sofas, chairs etc were all super...more
This was our second stay at the cottage, since we were there last year there has been some changes to the property, which have only improved what in our opinion was a great place to stay.
A lovely place to stay, and at only 8 hours notice, a really good service. Everything was clean tidy comfortable cosy and just what we wanted. Only ? I had was how to deal with rubbish as each council seems to have a different collection policy, and it was not clear. This is easily rectified.
We really enjoyed our stay, the farmhouse is comfortable and spacious and has everything you need and is in a lovely quiet location. The beach is only a short drive away which was great. We would definitely go back. There was a lovely welcome cream tea for us, which was a nice surprise!
Sunnycliffe is almost the perfect place to stay for beautiful views and location but needs a little more help to make it comfortable. The sofa’s in the lounge need cushions. There needs to be a table cloth. The parking arrangements need to be clearer before booking as nightmare to manoeuvre.
A hillside meadow strewn with wild flowers with an incredible view for miles across the Taw Valley and the sea! Large, warm, dry bell tents with plenty of room, a cosy fire pit for chilly evenings, and a spotless toilet/shower block. Great, friendly guest hospitality from the owners, farmers Jim and Amy, with an opportunity to see their animals and their sustainable farming approach. Would I go again? Yes! Although I would take a gas stove and kettle for quick cuppas, and a windbreak to make the fire area nice and cosy.
Beautiful location with excellent facilities for everyone. We enjoyed walking the grounds, listening to the birds and our dog loved the large canine paddock. Plenty of places to visit and so many walks. Super swimming pool and tennis court. Would definitely recommend and hope to return. A real gem.
We were very disappointed with the size of the single bedroom. No room to open a suitcase. The property is not suitable for 5 adults. Could do with renewing carpets.Tired looking. The biggest issue was the shower.A huge beam was obstructing the shower. If you are over 6ft it's not a comfortable experience. Not fit for purpose.
We booked the Farmhouse at Wheel Farm back in January after going through so many different options for our party, 8 adults, 2 babies and a child. We were very happy with what we booked and overall had a very enjoyable stay. The house was clean, spacious and comfortable. A few things, the boiler is a combi setup which is great for hot water on demand however when you have several people needing to shower at once it’s not great. As soon as someone’s turns a tap or uses another shower you lose hot water and pressure. This means for a party of 8, we all had to shower one by one. We managed it ...more
Great house for large group. Very atmospheric.General upgrade of lounge furniture required. Fridge/freezers in utility room need replaced.
Unfortunately can not review Stable Cottage as this was not in use after we initially booked. We were kept informed of changes and family were put into alternative accommodation. Although this was perfectly adequate they were in separate rooms and did miss out on a communal area to sit and relax and obviously no self catering facilities.
This was our second time staying at Talland Croft as a family of 6. It is such a beautiful place to stay very spacious with such a lovely garden. The location is excellent a short 10 minute walk to the beach and two lovely pubs serving delicious food around a 5 minute walk. Newquay is a 10 minute drive which has plenty to do. We were able to check in early which really helped. Thank you so much for allowing to create more magical memories.
The cottage is lovely. The layout of the bedrooms downstairs give everyone privacy and they are all good sized. Well equipped. The location is excellent. Parking is easy. The property is only accessed via the front door and there is only 1 key. When I text the property manager to ask if there was another she said no, to use the key safe outside. The problem with this is if one couple/person goes out they either lock everyone in the house or have to wake people up to get back in. This caused issues as we were holidaying with small children who could be asleep at various times of the day plus ...more
Had a lovely time here. Was very clean and comfortable. The seclusion of being in the country was great. A nice break from the city. Great that dogs are allowed too.
It is a quaint cottage set in the most magical setting where time slows to allow a complete recharge of yourself. It really is rural but never far from a maddening crowd whenever you want to step into either the local towns or incredible coastline walks and towns that are dotted along the Jurassic coastline
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, looking to rebook. Quiet location but with village pub, shop and tearoom nearby. Cannot fault for comfort and equipment. Excellent centre for walking and exploring Exmoor. Our two dogs also liked their holiday
we all enjoyed our stay in beautiful Instow. The beach at low tide is spectacular and perfect for dog walking, and there were lots of good places to go for days out, especially Marwood House gardens which were spectacular. John's deli has everything that you need for the stay and we can recommend the breakfast!
Hotel staff were very welcoming and as it was quiet they upgraded us to Fairways East which was a lovely cottage to stay for our family party of 7 for a long weekend which we all enjoyed. Very quiet location with views across golf course/open countryside. Had a very large conservatory and hot tub useful when raining! We used the well kept leisure facilities and had a nice meal in the Devon restaurant.
Very nice cottage with everything we needed. Would recomend ............................................................ ..
Three very deep steps up to property which were very challenging and without a handrail. No handrail in the shower. Courtyard gate did not close or stay closed and no gate between courtyard and field/orchard. When we arrived weeding was needed in the courtyard and the outlook on an old barn was horrid. We couldn't sit outside with the dogs unless on leads. There is no bread bin, dishwasher dispenser not working, and no instruction to say washing machine in the shed. Nespresso machine a nice touch and bathrooms were lovely except 2nd bedroom had issues with the cold tap having variable supp...more
Lovely garden in a peaceful location. While the cottage was functional, it was tired and need of updating.
Disappointed as it didn’t live up to the 5* reviews. No welcome or contact from owner/ manager throughout stay. We even gave contractor access to to laundry room to collect laundry as no management there. We had to uncover and cover pool ourselves due to no onsite management. Children's play area disappointing, consisted of a slide and a log structure. Furniture tired and accommodation not recently renovated as described. Having said that it wasn’t dirty or uncomfortable.
This was our Third visit having really been impressed with the place the cleanliness the friendly customer service etc on the previous 2 occasions. Having just finished some gruelling cancer treatment my husband treated me to a surprise few days here to recuperate. Unfortunately we had not realised it had changed hands in February until we got here first we noticed that at the entrance the sign was just on the floor and in parking noticed how there was garden debris everywhere a tree down and everything overgrown and a mess . There was no one to greet us in fact never saw anyone of management ...more
Loved our stay! Cottage was perfect for our needs. Exmoor was gloriously awash with autumn colour. Many thanks for all
Stunning luxury 4 bed 4.bath holiday home. Fairways East is part of Highbullen Hotel, so you have access to two swimming pools and a really well equipped gym and restaurant. Its set in a beautiful part of North Devon with some interesting access routes to it. It's extremely quiet and relaxing. All the bedrooms feel like you staying in a luxury hotel. Later in the year there will a hottub to use on the patio which will add to its appeal. The downstairs space was fantastic for entertaining, everything you needed in terms of equipment, except maybe a can opener. There were two small thing...more
Our cottage internet could not be accessed on our table or laptop. The owner helpfully gave us access to his private internet account. The layout of the cottages is poor and gives no privacy. For example, on the first morning I opened the front door to find 6 guests and 3 dogs having breakfast at a large table in the courtyard about 6 feet from our cottage. The oven and grill were filthy. The owner responded quickly by calling out the cleaner to deal with it. The toilet did not flush - again the owner came quickly to repair it. We were interrupted when a new fridge arrived and was fitted ...more
We had a great stay in Instow. The location of the property is perfect, right across from the beach and close to a number of nice pubs and restaurants. The off-road parking was very welcome too, given how difficult it is to park anywhere in Instow! The property was very clean and the living room and bedrooms were pleasant. The garden was a real bonus, especially having our dog with us and the table and chairs are in a real suntrap, so we enjoyed breakfast there most days. My only criticism would be the kitchen and bathroom, they're both quite tired looking. All the appliances in the ki...more
We have stayed at Wheel Farm for more than 25 holidays, in various cottages over all the previous owners, and always been very satisfied with everything, but this time we have been so disappointed, the cottage was not very clean, very damp downstairs in the bedrooms, the kitchen was poorly equipped, the fridge freezer didn’t fit in the space so stuck into the kitchen. The garden was really untidy, grass had not been cut for a long time, they did cut it mid week but left all the grass cuttings everywhere so they trod in the cottage and our car, we thought perhaps they would return to the next d...more
This was a great place for our stay. Comfortable warm clean and everything we needed. Excellent value. Nothing to do with the property but twice we tried to book with the pub, the second time we tried on the Monday and first day we could go was Friday, we left Friday! Surely not all tables were booked all night, we just wanted an early evening drink. BUT, this does not reflect on the Byre which was excellent . Thanks for a great week.
Stag Lodge was an excellent base to access the many fine mountains of Achnashellach. The cottage's elevated position above the road gave a great view looking over to Moruisg and Sgurr nan Ceannaichean. It was very useful having a utility room to leave any wet and muddy clothes after a day's hillwalking. Matthew, the gamekeeper, was very welcoming and always available to help. We very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely part of the Highlands.
I will never stay again due to the Owner not being very welcoming on arrival he was more concerned about the bins etc. We didn’t like the fact that in the living room an adjoining door allowed access by the owner so didn’t feel comfortable about this. Also because of two kittens We couldn’t let our dog of the lead near The cottage. This was not mentioned prior booking up. Also we had to buy a frying pan as the one we replace was unsatisfactory. The carpet was in poor condition. Otherwise the location was excellent. Too bad about the very narrow country lanes.
