We had an amazing holiday staying at Wheel Farm. Lovely cottage kitted out with everything we needed. We made use of the swimming pool everyday which was a real hit with our children. We loved exploring the area and making use of the fabulous beaches no matter what the weather!
We had a lovely time in this beautiful farmhouse, everything you needed there just like home from home.
The house is situated in a great spot in Braunton. The shops are just a few minutes walk, and there are plenty of pubs around too. The check in process is easy (keys in a lock box) and the procedure was well explained by the housekeeper prior to arrival. There is enough off-road parking for 5 or 6 cars, so parking wasn't an issue. We were a party of 11 adults and one baby. We all had loads of space and not once did anybody feel claustraphobic. All bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless when we got there, and towels etc all provided as described. The high-chair was missing but it took one...more
We absolutely loved our stay on Cuckoo Down Farm at the end of the summer. Our safari tent was warm, cosy and comfortable, set in this idyllic location. Taking in the beautiful countryside, watching the swallows dart around the field, barbecuing as the sun was setting and spending time as a family around our campfire, watching the stars come out, was all very special. The farm is also really handy for the breathtaking Jurassic Coast where much fun was had by my three teens!
Thank you so much for having us the Shippen cottage. A really enjoyable and relaxing holiday was had by all. Nero (the old Staffie) spent most of the time relaxing by the front door of the cottage and we were and we made good use of your indoor swimming pool on the couple of rainy days that we had. Our toddler was particularly delighted to find so many toys to play with in the pool. The short drive to the supermarket in Ilfracombe made it easy for us to stock up on supplies. We will be back!
Glamping at its best! Great site, everything we needed was supplied or available, Wonderful weekend, thank you xx
We have just returned from a wonderful, relaxing long weekend stay in Deer View Cottage. The cottage was extremely welcoming, comfortable and perfect in every way with the added bonus of super facilities provided by the nearby hotel. My only regret that it was all over too quickly!!
A tranquil peaceful. Setting. In the Beautiful Devonshire countryside. Welcomed by the owner, the house was big enough to house our large Family. In all we had a very special weekend together of which we shall remember for a long time. Dorothy Joyner.
Firstly the location is amazing with great sea view's of the wonderful Woolacombe beach from the outside terracing, Bedroom, sitting area, Games room and Sitting room, and only a short walk from Barricane Beach, which is our favourite to escape to, and also the local shops, pub's and restaurants. The quality of the furnishings is first class and Contemporary in nature with everything we could have hoped for from a Let including towels , toiletries and even toilet paper provided. We could not fault this wonderfully, spacious family home and will certainly be paying another visit or two wi...more
We hired the Barn for a week and the Hayloft for a weekend, to celebrate our significant wedding anniversary with family and friends. The accommodation was fabulous, comfortable and spacious. There were fourteen of us over the weekend and Richard and Ali added an extra table so we could all eat together. The grounds are beautiful and we made good use of the sauna and swimming pool. Richard and Ali were very helpful, relaxed and approachable. Max the dog was a big hit with everyone! The location was great for visiting nearby places e.g Lynton and Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and Combe Martin, Woolacome...more
Hi we found our stay wonderful cannot fault the cottages ! Staff pleasant and was more than willing to help out ! If we were ever in the area again we would surely return ! Thank you !
We have been to this property three times before and it never fails to please and the properrty has also been upgraded during this time. It is a great place from which to visit the wonderful Exmoor and Coombe Martin, Ilfracombe, South Molton and Barnstaple. The last two are great places for shopping good quality local produce, as well as for supermarkets. There are also pubs and restaurants within a short driving distance.
This was our second stay at Cuckoo Down and we are already talking about coming back next year. The tents are comfortable, prettily decorated and well equipped and the setting is beautiful. We went with friends and I’m sure our children will remember forever the hours they spent playing in the woods and in the stream with a sense of freedom that is rare in the modern world.
We have stayed at Lower Aylescott, three times now - each time it has been a different time of year and once was with our whole family taking one cottage each! The site is simply stunning - a hidden treasure. The owners are friendly, welcoming and let you get on with your holiday but are so easy to get hold of, should you need them for anything. From the cottages, Devon is so easy to explore and at the end of each day, you return to a home from home setting that has absolutely everything you could possibly need. You don't actually have to go out if you don't want to; there are lakes, a playgro...more
The photos don't lie! It is a set in a great location with stunning views from the deck and rear windows. I loved waking up and being able to see the sea from my bed. The house is clean, well maintained and equipped with everything you're likely to need for a family holiday. The older children in our group loved the xbox and the younger ones had huge fun running up and down the sloping garden! Everyone thought the outside shower a great idea but we did have trouble getting two year old twins out of it..... This was our first three generational holiday and the house certainly helped to m...more
We had a wonderful stay at the cottages with our new puppy. Ali and family were amazingly helpful but not overbearing. The cottage was clean, tidy and had everything you would need for a long weekend. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back soon.
Lovely situation, very friendly owners, asked if the swimming pool's temperature could be raised - we had four little ones under 3 years old - they tried to oblige.
We have just spent a fantastic week on Exmoor staying at the wonderful Exmoor Farmhouse. It's a super house for a large group (we were 12 across 3 generations) with a beautiful view across Withypool and the moor. The house has loads of space and many rooms including a dining room that more than coped with 15 of us on one evening, a large kitchen breakfast room and a living room which also comfortably accommodated all of us for games and quizzes. Some of the decor in the house is amazing, there are books and artwork everywhere and it is clearly a much loved family home when not being used by gu...more
Lovely cottages - this is the second time I have stayed there - the first being in The Dairy, but oh dear the water problems have not been resolved, regrettably. It's water pressure - or the lack there of - downstairs fine - upstairs dreadful. Hayloft : The upstairs hand basin cold water feed was nothing but a trickle - I reported this to Hannah on the Sunday of my arrival, but nothing was fixed. The shower head over the bath the pressure was OK if you held the shower head down into the bath, but once put any higher again the feed was nothing but dismal! Ali & Richard are charming - but ...more
A very well equipt cottage, extremely comfortable with fabulous views across the valley. It is so peaceful and is an ideal location for RHS Rosemoor and for coastal path walking. Two miles away The Cranford Inn is a must as the food presented is was way above normal pub food standard and reasonably priced. We will definitely being going back.
The setting is perfect (and the twice we’ve stayed, the weather has been gorgeous, so we feel very fortunate). The space between tents is ideal - allowing children in our family group to play/wander and non of us to feel on top of each other. Each safari tent is well equipped and the beds are comfortable. There are some nice touches - handwash, toiletries in the shower etc but a curtain/screen in the toilet would have been appreciated and a key/lock on the shower (we used the key from the toilet lock). We would recommend Cuckoo Down Farm.
Stoke up the fire, let the kids run wild and relax. Very good facilities, nearby beaches are great and wonderful hosts. Will be back for sure.
A lovely base for walking, beaches, visiting NT properties and for Lundy. Comfy beds and plenty of space.
Comfirtable, clean and everything provided that you need for a stay in a Safari Tent. Disappointing weather but lovely outdoor space had it been warm and light in an evening. Good distance away from the other ‘Glampers’. Safari Tent coped with high winds and pouring rain and was still cosy and warm inside with wood burning stove on. Limited lighting for dark evenings but with enough lights fitted around the tent it was possible to see what you were doing. We found reading difficult. Super experience. Can recommend it.
A fabulous house/cottage for a family holiday. Something for everyone - golf, swimming, tennis, various dining options should you choose to have time away from the kitchen. We are no strangers to High Bullen and will continue to return.
We had a lovely time at Nuide House. The house was spacious yet cosy and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. The bottles of Prosecco on arrival were particularly well appreciated! Thanks for everything!
Great property for family get away. Location wonderful for exploring North Devon, then back for a round of tennis whilst dinner cooking. Our children (all in their 30's) really enjoyed it.
Location, Location........Wonderful views from virtually every window, deck and balcony. More steps than expected, and a steep slope, but if you are fit and healthy that should be no problem, and obviously necessary to get such fabulous views! The cottage has most things you could need whilst on holiday, though it could benefit from a tumble dryer, as it was extremely windy (and rather wet) for most of our stay, so we could not put the clotheshorse outside at all and it was not great having wet washing hanging about indoors. As it was so windy whilst we were there, it also made us aware tha...more
We were delighted to find Woodpecker Cottage. It is hard to find a small place to stay that allows 3 dogs. Most that do are much larger and bit too expensive for just two people needing one bedroom. It had everything we were looking for - rural, enclosed garden and plenty of walks while not being too far from a shop. The doggy file in the cottage was so helpful and allowed us to plan some days out. We have already recommended to a friend.
Enjoyed our stay at this cottage Owners lovely ,the cottage was of a very good standard. The cake and milk supplied was a nice bonus . Fishing ok but this time of the year please make sure you have bite cream with you
We stayed for a week at the end of September and despite changeable weather with some heavy rain we had a fantastic stay. The children loved the indoor pool, the dogs loved the paddock designated for dog exercise and we all enjoyed the beautiful beaches and coastal walks nearby. Everything you could need is provided for in the cottage. Lots of guides and maps in reception with the added bonus of local free range organic eggs available to buy. Thoroughly recommend a trip to Braunston burrows from Sandy Lane - a beautiful walk ending on Saunton sands. Owners of wheel farm were helpful and ...more
We were a family of 6 adults and 4 children (5-10 yrs). We booked Braunton Farmhouse via My Favourite Cottages. Their service was good and the agent was generally very responsive. Now about Braunton Farmhouse... a large, old farmhouse that was simply idyllic. The accommodation was excellent - very comfortable and beautifully decorated and furnished. All necessary services were provided. The setting was incredible and so quiet! Having come from the “City” the children loved the space, the freedom to run around and explore, and to play games on the extensive lawns. Views from the house and clos...more
These cottages are in a perfect location with a community shop, pub, restaurant and places to visit very close by. We stayed in Lake View Cottage. A very spacious property with a great view and easy access to the fishing lake. The rooms were clean and spacious with comfy beds and plenty of seating, although a coffee table would have been a bonus. The kitchen is well equipped for a weeks holiday. The cottages are reached by narrow country lanes so be prepared to meet oncoming farm traffic! There are several steps down to the properties and no direct parking outside Lake View which was a bit of a...more
Ideal house for a week of reunion of 4 families - 15 of us in all. Lovely welcome from Jean; very comfortable spacious house and good grounds at front for dog and children to play. Quiet off road location with superb views. Everything we needed for catering for the group was provided and shopping was easy with well stocked Coop in the village. Plenty of room in the house to spread around and very comfortable beds. Loads of baths / WCs; two over bath electric showers. Masses of hot water from a very efficient heating system. Location excellent for local walks or for reaching water sports at Loc...more
This cottage was absolutely lovely to stay in, we liked everything about it all the rooms are very spacious and comfortable although it rained nearly every day of our stay we enjoyed the indoor heated swimming pool just a few steps away, The village community shop is very welcoming for things forgotten and the pub a must visit This is our 2nd visit to Highbullen and will definitely return to Stable Cottage again
A brilliant holiday for three families and a dog. We had a wonderful time. The self-catering facilities in Fairways West even allowed for celebratory cooking and provided plenty of space and privacy for all generations. There is plenty of entertainment at Highbullen for both adults and children with golf, croquet, walking, outdoor swimming etc. Even on the day when it rained there was indoor swimming, the sport simulator and even a fabulous Devon afternoon tea. The childrens' afternoon tea, presented in little secret drawers, was magical and really thrilled the little ones. There is so m...more
The house was perfect for the 6 of us, plenty of space. The location enabled us to walk to the beach, the pubs and the shop. The house was clean and tidy and we got excellent support when we had any queries or a problem.
A lovely cottage on a quiet site, with views over the countryside. The cottage was clean, well maintained, with everything you may need. There were extensive grounds to relax in. Having the swimming pool to myself was a bonus. The only negative is that you do need a car and drive everywhere, but we are already planning a return visit.
This was a booking for a party of ladies to come and ride on the moor. The house worked well, was comfortable, clean, warm and of good quality. The only two issues were; 1. The wifi had no internet connection for the majority of the weekend and 2. (a very minor one) The wood for the burners was too fresh to burn well, another year and it would be perfect!
We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle to unplug for a few days and Bluebelle cottage was the perfect place to do it. Lovely walks on the doorstep, friendly people, beautiful surroundings and only an hour from the coast so we got to experience that too. Would recommend to any couple looking to get away and enjoy being together without the distractions of everyday life.
Really nice cottage, has everything that you need for a comfortable stay, the owners are very friendly and helpful. Its a great spot if you love the countryside and its got a nice fishing lake, they have recently added a large deck area by the stream which is a nice touch. Well placed for travel to the local coast line.
Had a lovely stay at The Shippen. The cottage is cosy, well maintained and well equipped. The walk through the woods down to the beach was gorgeous and Fowey itself is everything you would expect from a Cornish seaside town - culture, local shops, great places to eat.
Dolly’s Barn at Higher Mullacott proved to be the perfect place to stay for three nights around the wedding of my nephew in Georgeham. There was plenty of space, both living and bedrooms for six adults and two small children who needed separate rooms for sleeping. The owners, Tim and Cathy, and Tim’s father, Stanley, could not have been more helpful. The property’s location on the A361 made access to Woolacombe, Ilfracombe and Croyde Bay very easy so we enjoyed some time there as well as the wedding in Georgeham.
It was our first time visiting Woolacombe in the autumn & our first visit to Devon Beach Court. On both counts it was excellent. Woolacombe is a fantastic place to be outside of the traditional summer holiday season & Devon Beach Court, with it's prime location & side-balcony overlooking the rocks of Barricane & Combesgate beaches, is just fantastic! Communication with Jenny was excellent before & during our stay & the apartment was fully fitted out with all-mod cons, plus books, dvds, games & even bodyboards. A fabulous week & a fabulous place to stay!
This is the place to go if you want 'Peace perfect peace' !! Amazing cottage with all you could want and need for a week away from it all ! The owners clearly care about the visitors providing everything to make your stay perfect! Quality is excellent with extras like a lovely new stove to delight the eye! The house is so cosy from the very efficient central heating but the stove on a frosty night is kind of special. The wild life can be amazing to watch from the cottage and the views are spectacular ! Plenty of parking area too. Looking forward to another visit !
Very comfortable and cosy cottage. Great to be able to walk to village for shop, tea rooms and local walks. It would have been good to have had coat hooks in cottage as we had wet waterproof coats and trousers each day and no where to hang them.
We have stayed in a previous cottage with my favourite cottages last year but this one was in the most wonderful position.on the beach straight across the road, the most lovely position for breakfast and evening drinks. A quaint grade 11 listed cottage which doesn’t loose its era but is comfortable and clean .we would highly recommend it . The top apartment is quite steep stairs for elderly but there is a very ingenious lift. Easy access to westward ho but Instow has a good beach and has been left alone to be natural
The location of this house in Croyde is excellent - short walk to lovely surfing beach - pubs etc. The house itself is well equipped and has lovely views from the lounge upstairs. The weather wasn’t particularly kind to us so we spent more time in the house than we had planned but it was warm and cosy and you could just see the waves crashing around the cliffs.
We booked here as it is near friends in the area and my 8 year old was excited about the fishing. (Sadly the weather was horrid, so no fishing was done.) We arrived very late after first visiting with our friends and only after entering did we realise we forgot milk for our morning coffee. On a whim, my husband looked in the fridge and saw a small container of milk - what a wonderful and very welcoming extra! The owners also left a box of biscuits, tea, coffee and sugar! The cottage was well appointed, had a comfortable bed and a nice "homey" feel about it. The owners were very welcoming and r...more
We had a lovely week staying at Stag Lodge on the Glencarron and Glenuaig estate. We were lucky to have had some rain so the water levels were excellent for fishing on the river and we were very well looked after by the ghillie, Eric, and his wife, Cathy. The lodge was clean and comfortable and brilliantly positioned to enjoy the estate and local area.
This annexe has much to offer, 2 spacious ensuite bedrooms, one with a lovely view. A cosy living room with traditional features of stone and beams though one needs to be standing to see through the window. We were a little disappointed by the kitchen however which is dated and awkward to use being rather narrow and the sink tucked into a corner. It just didn't quite live up to the expectations we had from web site.
Our third successive autumn at Lower Leys. Always happy there, although lack of mobile coverage and "outgoing calls only" on house phone meant the need to think ahead at times. Weather was poor (wet/very wet on all but one day in the fortnight). Would have booked again for next year had we not had car problems at last minute, which showed us the need to be closer to villages/towns at our age (84) .
Comfortable cottage with lovely garden in a very good location, near Croyde Village and also the beach. Had everything we needed for a large family group ranging from 84 years old to 8 months!
crooked lake cottage is a cosy wonderful home from home with a large well kept garden which attracts a wide range of wildlife. the cottage was built in the 17th century, as such there are low beams and doors so care must be taken. there is good wi-fi & the tv picture was fine whilst we were there. The beds are very comfortable with plenty of bedding and the kitchen is well stocked with everything needed for a great holiday. All in all a fantastic holiday cottage with a large garden in a peaceful part of north devon
10 of us (6 plus 4 kids) enjoyed family holiday in this well equipped house. Garden was great too. Wi-intermittently working. No facility for recycling waste. Contrary to advice there is no facility at nearby Morrisons (Newquay) and no facility for collection. We ended up going to the council recycling centre. I am sure some guests would resort to putting in the general waste. For these reasons would say 8 out of 10.
Fantastic location, great facilities Lovely property with everything you need in it. Had a really lovely holiday. Weather certainly helped.
Lovely cottage, well kitted out. Kids loved the pool. Great location. Looking at the next date to stay.
We had a great stay at this lovely cottage. There was a lovely welcome pack and the house was spotless. A great location to explore north Devon. We will return!
A very relaxing cottage with large comfy sofa, large dinning room table, piano and Aga. The garden and outside space with views across the valley is excellent to enjoy during the day or evening, and with the outside seating and BBQ area it's a great GnT spot. The utility rooms fridge freezer, along with the second smaller fridge in the kitchen means you can stock up and enjoy the cottage, or take a short drive in to Barnstaple or Saunton Sands. Downstairs bathroom useful as it's close to the garden. Bedrooms and upstairs bathroom are all well prepared and the master bedroom has a huge bed, w...more
Their were four adults in our party. We were conveniently situated to explore North Devon. The garden and kitchen were not as big as we had hoped but everything was clean and tidy. We enjoyed our stay and had a good holiday.
