We had a brilliant time at The Shippon over New Year. The intention was to have some much-needed R&R and really enjoy the hot tub and countryside. As the hot tub is covered we could use it even when it rained and we made maximum use of it! And on the dry day managed to cycle the Tarka Trail. The Shippon was even bigger in the photographs and was a lovely touch of luxury with the underfloor heating. Nick & Coral we’re super helpful and we will definitely be back!
Barnstable is an excellent base for exploring North Devon and Courtyard Cottage couldn't be situated better - a few minutes from the town centre (by car) but completely tucked away up a long private drive, high up on the side of the valley with great views over the town. The cottage is beautifully decorated and equipped and although situated in fairly close proximity to the owner's house and another neighbour it's not difficult to find a secluded spot on 1 of the 3 patios that come with the cottage. The best is the patio above the garage which is equipped with seats and catches the afternoon a...more
Beautiful location, really clean and well kept cottage and facilities, friendly and helpful owners… It was just what we needed after a busy year! Our only slight problem was the temperature of the pool, it was too cold for the baby (and my husband) so we didn’t end up using it as much as we would have otherwise. But overall we had a wonderful time, thank you!
We couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more at The Shepherd’s Shed. The booking process was really simple and the hosts were really lovely. The Shepherd’s shes itself was immaculate and it has everything you need - it’s been done perfectly. The hot tub was the highlight - we ended up using it far more than we planned to because it was so nice. Another bonus - the shower had hot water!
Seaweed was perfect for our holiday in every way. Nikki, the owner, was extremely helpful with extra information eg. pubs, cafes, shops etc. to make our stay very enjoyable. We would highly recommend this cottage.
We just had a wonderful family holiday at Park View Farmhouse. From the moment we entered we felt warm and welcomed. The house is absolutely beautiful with so many lovely touches and the hot tub is a great bonus. We loved the location - beautifully quiet but great for exploring North Devon. Coral was a very thoughtful host. I would highly recommend a stay at the farmhouse.
Amazing cottage. well presented, clean, with a good feeling of quality across the site. Perfect for our party of four adults, who also enjoyed the Games Room. We could see that this was a cottage that is perfect for a family, as well as a group of friends (as in our case). Very generous to see Nespresso coffee machine plus pods provided as well as a quality range of cookware that made meal prep a pleasure. We loved the area, walking into Coombe Martin and back on the first day. The hosts were very kind to us, in that we arrived in the area around lunch time, and were kindly allowed to en...more
We were lucky to get this booking following a cancellation and enjoyed our week there. The location is excellent, overlooking the beach and the town. Whilst there are 4 rentals on the same property, we had no problems with parking or with even generally seeing the other guests. Once inside, everything was clean and well kept, with everything we needed. The barbecue and hot tub certainly saw some use as we relaxed watching the sunset. We would happily stay again if we return to the area. Finally, the service from the team and the correspondence was excellent making everything run very smoothly.
We enjoyed our stay at The Barn and had a lovely holiday. It was extremely comfortable and very clean and well equipped. The location was beautiful. However, we were very disappointed with the “private, enclosed garden” We took our dogs but were unable to let them off their leads in the garden as the fencing was totally inadequate and there was no gate at all. The entrance to the garden was away from the house so, even if it had been secure, we would have been unable to let the dogs out into the garden unaccompanied. This meant we had to take them out on their leads every time they needed the ...more
A fabulous house which is remote but easy to find. Its perfect for the Lydford Gorge. Clean, comfortable and has everything you would need. Wifi is patchy (it works in the front bedroom, the hallway and one living room) and there is little phone signal so its worth planning around that. But it was lovely not to be slaves to technology for a long weekend. The welcome was friendly. The outside space is incredible. Highly recommended.
Very well equipped cottage, with a fabulous view from the upper terrace. Very clean, great location. But not suitable (as they state) for anyone with limited mobility as there are 3 sets of stairs one of them being a narrow spiral staircase to the kitchen. No sea views from inside property. Perfect for a couple, easy walk to funicular railway and so nice restaurants and right on the coastal path and an easy walk to the Valley of the Rocks. Kitchen is on lower level so if you wish to eat on the terrace you will have to carry everything up 3 flights of stairs, which we did by using a large shop...more
We enjoyed staying at Diana’s Cottage and found it a very peaceful place. It is close to Staunton Sands and the coast which was convenient. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage was well equipped. Fiona was on hand to help with the queries we had.
As a family of 4 and a Sprockerpoo we had a fantastic stay over the new year. Seaglass is a wonderful property with just about everything considered and provided for. Very clean throughout and the hot tub was the icing on the cake! We will be back!
Springfield Linney is a beautiful place to stay, so beautiful this was our second time! Quiet, peaceful and lovely views! Whilst the weather was windy and rainy it didn’t ruin the stay! Clean and tidy throughout! Couldn’t ask for a better place to stay!
We have stayed at Lawhyre Cottages over the last 20 years- the Cottages are comfortable and warm and we enjoy our walks through the woods or fields to the Cove and Beach and then our stroll into the Town. The Shippen was very clean, lovely condition and super setting/ we will be back.
The only thing we could fault was the mattress on the main bed was hard as nails .. (we are princesses) the kids beds were grand . Sofa spot on .. kitchen spot on .. Pool was great for two hyper sensory kids . We may try a different cottage for a bit more room next time .
We have stayed there on 3 separate occasions and each time it was very special to both of us.On the first time we visited we could not imagine how special it was to become to us, after working a life in The printing industry and all the noise, you could not hear a sound, apart from, rustling of the leaves in the trees. It is a magical place, for the cottage ,views, and atmosphere ,the list goes on and on.The cottage is sumptuous, well looked after, a wonderful kitchen, everthing you need, if you want to have cosy meal for the two of you. There are plenty of restaurants suggested if you look in t...more
Great holiday home very comfortable and clean all bedrooms excellent and bathrooms well appointed living quarters superb with well appointed kitchen great outdoor decking area would recommend property anytime.
The house was very comfortable for our large family holiday. Well equipped for cooking. Garden is brilliant, just need to beware of water at end of orchard area if you have toddlers. Easy walking distance to shops and takeaways. Good parking. We were surprised how much food belonging to owners was in cupboard - a little confusing.
Fantastic...!!! The Farmhouse and surrounding area was everything we had hoped for. Enough space for 10 people of which 6 were children. Very clean, comfortable, great outdoor space for the kids to release some energy. The Farmhouse felt very authentic but had all the mod cons you could need. The surrounding area was great for walks and not too far from several nice beaches. Would not hesitate to recommend.
Hi Just to say we had a lovely week in this wonderful cottage! It was very clean and more than well equipped. It had loads of DVDS you could watch and a surprise cream tea waiting for us on arrival. Scones were delicious! It is very quiet as it’s in the middle of no where with beautiful views. Just what my husband and I needed to get away from everything! Also a private hot tub which was great to unwind. Can’t wait to book it again. I would thoroughly recommend it! Sue
When we arrived, we were initially taken with the grounds and surrounding facilities for the children. However, on entering Aggie's Cottage it felt that we had been transported back in time. The cottage is beautifully presented and has a authentic quaintness about it. It is full of charm and character but has all the modern facilities you needed. I was extremely impressed in the level of detail and equipment available from the BBQ facilities to even a pretty pink cake stand ideal for my friends 40th Birthday cake to sit on! We had only booked the cottage for the weekend, but I could have ...more
Clean & tidy apartment right on the seafront. There is no direct sea view but a sideways view can be had from a balcony at the side of the apartment. It is spacious and the main bed is very comfortable. The host was pleasant to deal with & arranged for the quick replacement of a faulty kettle which the previous occupant had not told them about!
We had lovely October weather for our week at Shippen. Good location and comfortable accommodation. The pool and sauna were an added bonus.
Enjoyed stay Well done Good time had by all Wonderful place Good layout Comfortable Quiet, Peaceful.
My family had a wonderful time during our recent stay at Dolly's Barn. It was clean, tidy and loads of room for 10 of us without getting under each others feet. It was well equipped inside and out & the grandchildren had plenty to do outside with loads of space to run around and play football etc. The table tennis table was a hit with the adults and children alike. Higher Mullacott Farm is ideally situated for all of North Devon's attractions with Barnstaple, Croyde and Ilfracombe all within easy reach. We loved it so much we have already booked again for next year.
We had a fantastic stay at the Farmhouse, lovely location, great facilities and the Farmhouse had everything we needed for a great stay, only one downside was the beds could have been a bit more comfortable. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to all.
Very comfortable, clean and well equipped cottage. Great location for us as Munro Baggers and the views from the lounge were superb.
We were meant to stay last year to celebrate a big birthday, but covid meant it got pushed back to this August. The cottage was lovely, but slightly cramped for a family of 4, not much room around the beds etc but it was functional. The shower works but is more akin to washing in a gentle rain storm due to low pressure, but it did the job. Storage is limited, especially the kitchen, it has cupboards for pots/cooking trays/glassware etc, but none for storing food. So a bit disappointing. The area was lovely, lots of space for dog walking and the kids to play safely. The pool is great, was my ki...more
Exmoor Farmhouse was just what we wanted, a beautiful location and amazing house with room for all the family to spread out comfortably. Fantastic views and places nearby to enjoy the wonderful countryside. The younger members of the family really enjoyed the games room. We had a wonderful week. Thank you to the owners for sharing their beautiful home.
Nuide Farmhouse is the perfect base for a summer stay in the Cairngorms - it is ideally located a short drive from Aviemore and also down to the southern highlands. The property is surrounded by beautiful hills and the River Spey is only a few minutes walk from the bottom of the garden. The house itself is huge and provides fantastic accommodation for a large family, with a large living room, dining room and relaxed breakfast room. The property is furnished and decorated very tastefully and hits just the right balance with being comfortable and not overly formal. This was our second tim...more
We loved High Bullen and would certainly return. It is excellent for family holidays with grandparents, children and grandchildren - lots to do to keep everyone happy. Staff were friendly and helpful, the swimming pool was wonderful - very clean and a perfect temperature. Tennis courts, golf and snooker were enjoyed by everyone in the family. Very few negatives, but personally we found the uphill trek from Deer View cottage to be a bit steep for grandparents. We would book Fairway East/West another time. The golf course was fun for holiday golf but the trolleys were not good - buggies wer...more
We had a wonderful stay at Biallid House with our whole family ranging from 9 months to 72 years of age! Booking was really straight forward with the Josue being excellent value for money, more than enough size to provide amazing living spaces for us all. Jean the housekeeper was fab! She was happy to help and provided lots of advice, plus the small care package on arrival was very much appreciated. The house is very old and definitely lived in, cleanliness was adequate but could possibly do with a bit more of a deep clean on occasion. Really warm given it’s size and lovely roaring fire ...more
A lovely place to stay, and at only 8 hours notice, a really good service. Everything was clean tidy comfortable cosy and just what we wanted. Only ? I had was how to deal with rubbish as each council seems to have a different collection policy, and it was not clear. This is easily rectified.
A hillside meadow strewn with wild flowers with an incredible view for miles across the Taw Valley and the sea! Large, warm, dry bell tents with plenty of room, a cosy fire pit for chilly evenings, and a spotless toilet/shower block. Great, friendly guest hospitality from the owners, farmers Jim and Amy, with an opportunity to see their animals and their sustainable farming approach. Would I go again? Yes! Although I would take a gas stove and kettle for quick cuppas, and a windbreak to make the fire area nice and cosy.
Great location for exploring north devon. Friendly hosts who are on hand if required but allow you the personal space to enjoy your holiday how you wish. Accommodation was spotless and maintained. Our only reduced mark was for "comfort", this is a personal opinion that the Accommodation could do with new pillows and the sofa was extremely low, however as stated this is a personal opinion. Overall a great Accommodation and definitely one we will revisit.
Four of us (my wife and I plus 19 and 21 yr old sons) stayed for 3 nights. The Cottage itself is fab - even in mid-winter. The lady on reception could not be more helpful and we managed to play some tennis and golf as well as make use of the country club sports facilities - including massage, facial and using the gym as well as the pool. Would definitely come again
Lovely cottage to stay in, very homely and comfortable, very clean every thing you need for a nice stay, beautiful gardens, highly recommended.
A great getaway. Incredibly comfortable. Lots to do in and around the house and garden. Everything needed for an enjoyable and relaxed family holiday was provided. Beautiful location, with good pub nearby and some great local walks (if rather hilly). We can't recommend it enough.
We have stayed here a few times now and got to say it’s the most perfect place for R and R Owners are really friendly and go out of their way to help Surrounding beauty spots not to far away Definitely will be back again
This was a really good choice for us, we had everything we needed in the location we wanted to be in. The setting would be really great for families with small children because there's lots of outside space to explore.
A nice welcome from the owners, we used the pool every day, although the water could have been a little warmer. We will most certainly come back
We all enjoyed staying in Talland Croft and would be happy to return in the future. Homely house, well equipped, and Housekeeper responded promptly to our needs when required.
Nice cottages, well-equiped and comfortable. Lovely outdoor areas. Pool was great, shame the sauna was out of action.
It is a quaint cottage set in the most magical setting where time slows to allow a complete recharge of yourself. It really is rural but never far from a maddening crowd whenever you want to step into either the local towns or incredible coastline walks and towns that are dotted along the Jurassic coastline
Had a lovely time here. Was very clean and comfortable. The seclusion of being in the country was great. A nice break from the city. Great that dogs are allowed too.
The cottage is well equipped and positioned for a lovely holiday. It was ready to hand over on time with clear instructions for use. There is great outdoor space for children. The only slight downside is a lack of drying space after the family has been at the beach all day.
Location within the complex great., but not the views (unlike the cStables - brilliant!). Internal floor levels different. Would not suit someone with walking problems. Otherwise everything I wanted and more.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, looking to rebook. Quiet location but with village pub, shop and tearoom nearby. Cannot fault for comfort and equipment. Excellent centre for walking and exploring Exmoor. Our two dogs also liked their holiday
The only comment I have is about the quality and amount of cutlery and kitchen pans etc. This needs upgrading. Other than that very pleased with the flat
Really enjoyed our stay at Magnolia View. The house was very comfortable and well presented. It had everything we needed for a family stay. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the garden and views made the house.
Lovely garden in a peaceful location. While the cottage was functional, it was tired and need of updating.
The property needs some outside lights as it’s very difficult when it’s so dark The oven needs abit of maintenance as it only seems to cook at one temperature ( very high)
Loved our stay! Cottage was perfect for our needs. Exmoor was gloriously awash with autumn colour. Many thanks for all
This cottage is large and well appointed but starting to show signs of wear and could do with a small upgrade. The carpets on particular are stained. We had a problem with hot water which was partially resolved by the hotel. On the whole it is a lovely place to spend a few days .
Great location although getting the car in was challenging! We loved using the garden as well as the beach. The upstairs bedroom leads off one of the others; fine for kids but maybe not for adults. Adding a freezer and a bathroom update would make it perfect
This was a great place for our stay. Comfortable warm clean and everything we needed. Excellent value. Nothing to do with the property but twice we tried to book with the pub, the second time we tried on the Monday and first day we could go was Friday, we left Friday! Surely not all tables were booked all night, we just wanted an early evening drink. BUT, this does not reflect on the Byre which was excellent . Thanks for a great week.
We were very happy with our stay in Stag lodge. We wanted to mountain bike near the Torridon area so this cottage was perfect for our needs. We loved the drying room and access to a washer and a dryer. The house is situated above a main road but we didn’t notice the traffic and the view from the living room was brilliant.
I will never stay again due to the Owner not being very welcoming on arrival he was more concerned about the bins etc. We didn’t like the fact that in the living room an adjoining door allowed access by the owner so didn’t feel comfortable about this. Also because of two kittens We couldn’t let our dog of the lead near The cottage. This was not mentioned prior booking up. Also we had to buy a frying pan as the one we replace was unsatisfactory. The carpet was in poor condition. Otherwise the location was excellent. Too bad about the very narrow country lanes.
