The cottage was in lovely condition, with everything very beautifully coordinated. Beds were very comfy, as was the big sofa. We were made to feel very welcome, with bottles of cider, scones, jam and cream on arrival, and a personal welcome from the owners [ and their friendly dogs!]. There were lots of places around the cottage to sit and enjoy the view and there was a very comprehensive amount of useful information in the folder left for us in the cottage. The little road up to the cottage is quite hard to find, but again, the owners gave very clear instructions on how to get there. Ther...more
We couldn’t have enjoyed ourselves more at The Shepherd’s Shed. The booking process was really simple and the hosts were really lovely. The Shepherd’s shes itself was immaculate and it has everything you need - it’s been done perfectly. The hot tub was the highlight - we ended up using it far more than we planned to because it was so nice. Another bonus - the shower had hot water!
We booked our Elderly Parents into Seaweed Cottage for a 7 week stay to see if they would like to move to Devon. The House is perfect in every way with every possible thing thought of available to make your stay comfortable and happy. The cottage is light and airy and beautifully decorated. The Owner,Nikki, is exceptional. She cleaned every week for their stay and checked in on them regularly to see if they were ok. I would highly recommend this cottage. The location is perfect in Combe Martin, within walking distance of the beach, cafes and shops. Thankyou so much
We have stayed in many UK holiday homes over the years but, in terms of comfort, decor and design, this is the best. Comfortable beds and sofas, a stylish kitchen, relaxing showers and bath - and of course the well maintained hot tub for relaxing in the evenings. It is situated down a narrow lane but, this gives it the peaceful, quiet atmosphere that you need on a break. 15/20 minutes to all the coastal towns and beaches. We never normally return to the same property twice but this may change that! Thank you!
Three generations of our family have just spent a lovely relaxing week at the farmhouse. Everything we needed was provided, it was spotlessly clean and spacious. The beds were all comfortable and the views were to die for. It was exciting to see the sheep in the adjacent field. The children could run around on the lawn and you could shut the gate to keep animals in. The hot tub was amazing and well used. We appreciated the prosecco and fudge when we arrived, thank you. We would certainly return to Park View Farmhouse again.
Really lovely, comfortable cottage. Has been very thoughtfully equipped and its clear the owner has taken a lot of trouble to make sure it is comfortable for guests. Really comfy beds. Lovely garden with good outdoor seating. Great location for visiting numerous places. Games room was a wonderful amenity for our teenager. Had a great week and we will certainly visit again.
A beautiful place, right in the countryside. Views to dream of whilst enjoying from the hot tub. It had a luxury feel, all furniture and kitchen items were of great quality and extremely comfortable. 30 mins ish to the coast, rural roads, please take care. We would really recommend the hen house, it’s a fantastic base but also perfect if you just want to relax in accommodation, plenty of walks to do around. My only feedbacks on room for improvement would be, the coat hangers for the wardrobe, 8 were provided but we stayed 7 nights so it was not enough. I did have to descale the kettle, I...more
A fabulous house which is remote but easy to find. Its perfect for the Lydford Gorge. Clean, comfortable and has everything you would need. Wifi is patchy (it works in the front bedroom, the hallway and one living room) and there is little phone signal so its worth planning around that. But it was lovely not to be slaves to technology for a long weekend. The welcome was friendly. The outside space is incredible. Highly recommended.
Perfect house for our half term break in Devon. The kids loved playing in the garden and visiting the horses and donkeys in the field next door. The views are spectacular and the hot tub is an added bonus! Great location close to Barnstaple and Braunton - we visited Saunton Sands, Croyde and Westward Ho! beaches while we were there, as well as a trip to Watermouth Castle which I would highly recommend for kids.
Great place to stay everything you need and so very comfy. Sarah the owner is so helpful nothing is to much trouble . Can walk into main sea front area for places to eat takes about 15mins.Small Tesco near for any bits you might need. Lots of places to visit by car and some lovely walks if you like walking. Main beach is split into two areas one is for dogs which is graat if you take yours with you. Great place to stay we shall be back.
We enjoyed staying at Diana’s Cottage and found it a very peaceful place. It is close to Staunton Sands and the coast which was convenient. The beds were very comfortable and the cottage was well equipped. Fiona was on hand to help with the queries we had.
A super holiday rental which has the added bonus of allowing your doggy companion to accompany you. The Shippen is excellently located - the centre of Fowey can be reached following a quick 10 minute roadside downhill walk, or an alternative 15-20 minute walk along the tree-lined scenic coastal/Esplanade walk. The cottage has everything you need to ensure your stay is as comfortable as possible and is tastefully decorated. The outside area features sturdy garden furniture, so that you may sit and enjoy the surrounding countryside views. We would definitely recommend this property to our fa...more
Lovely quiet location. Spacious with plenty of storage for our possessions. Nice selection of provisions left for us on arrival.
Thoroughly recommend this holiday cottage; it was super clean, very quiet, had everything you could possibly need and although it is located behind the main house it had its own terrace to enjoy the stunning views. The spiral stairs are a consideration prior to booking but this is highlighted in the information provided. My husband and I managed fine and these added to the general quirkiness of the cottage. Lynton and the surrounding villages, combined with such stunning coastal scenery offers so much. We had a fabulous week, enjoyed the many walks so didn't need to use the car very m...more
We had a lovely stay at Goodleigh Cottage and would be very happy to return there again. The location was just a few miles from Barnstable, ideal to pop into town but giving you that secluded location feel. My boys loved the upside-down layout with comfortable beds, a lovely open-plan lounge and a kitchen which had brilliant appliances. The location is perfect for a visit to the amazing beaches nearby and other attractions. A lovely welcome gift on arrival just topped off the visit.
My first reaction on exploring the farmhouse was ‘I want to live here!’ It’s so lovely to have a generous living space for a large family but also with lots of nooks and cupboards to find places for shoes, bags and equipment. The beds and settees were super comfortable to make you feel really at home. The main bedroom is huge and all the others a really good size too with enough hot showers to cope with everyone needing them when back from the beach (even if the water pressure seemed a little low). The kitchen was very well laid out and equipped with everything you would need for cooking for 1...more
West Down is a beautiful village only a few minutes drive from Wollacombe and Ilfracombe, with a lovely country pub and friendly community village shop. Great location, We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Stable. It is beautifully decorated, extremely well equipped and very comfortable. Indoor spaces are amazing…lovely kitchen with table, benches and chairs. Downstairs loo was very handy. Cosy lounge with comfy sofas and wood burner. All three bedrooms and tastefully decorated, spotless, with plenty storage space. Bathroom is spacious with great shower over the bath. There is early mornin...more
The accommodation was ideal for our large family, not luxurious and maybe ready for a bit of an update. The indoor swimming pool although not heated was a great success for the younger family members. It has a very large grounds and ideal away from roads and traffic. We had a great holiday.
Hi Just to say we had a lovely week in this wonderful cottage! It was very clean and more than well equipped. It had loads of DVDS you could watch and a surprise cream tea waiting for us on arrival. Scones were delicious! It is very quiet as it’s in the middle of no where with beautiful views. Just what my husband and I needed to get away from everything! Also a private hot tub which was great to unwind. Can’t wait to book it again. I would thoroughly recommend it! Sue
The apartment was well presented, comfortable and spacious. Everything you would need for a self catering holiday, washing m/c, tumble dryer, etc. Getting your bags etc to the apartment was a little bit of an effort but ok. Woolacombe itself is a lovely place with a great beach, which we made a lot of use of, and some great walks, especially around Morthoe. We also had fantastic weather for our weeks stay. You could due with a few more varied places to eat out at but the fish and chip shop was excellent, busy though. Over all our holiday was good, apartment very good.
When we arrived at Wheel Farm, at around 5pm, there was no one at reception. It turns out that the new owners had a significant problem with the properties, and staffing, but tried their best to answer queries etc when they were on site. The whole complex was very impressive and when refurbished will be brilliant. Linhay was comfortable, but would be very overcrowded if the maximum 6 people were accommodated.
My family (6 adults and 3 children age 16, 13 and 7 and our dog Millie) recently stayed at Coast View over the Easter break. We stayed a week and loved every single bit of our stay at Coast View. It was fully equipped with everything we needed, we especially liked the fact that there was lots of glasses, cups, plates, cutlery and not limited to 10. All the beds were comfortable and there was enough towels for everybody, including towels to be used for the hot tub. There was plenty of space for people to have their own space if needed. My son really enjoyed the little snug area in the...more
Stayed here and Dolly’s for a big family break. Worked perfectly with children and parents in Aggies and rest in Dolly’s. Children slept undisturbed in the evening and adults in the morning. Good facilities and lovely play area. Will definitely be back.
Great week staying at White Meadows, good we could take the dog as well , which we found to be so lovely in Devon that he was welcome in so many places. Most relaxing holiday to renew our batteries. The owners were lovely and welcoming, and we found lots of lovely places to visit , during the day and then to come back to our peaceful haven. The Stables was lovely and clean and had everything we needed to do our meals, lovely clean bedding and towels as well. All in all great stay.
Pictures don't quite do Northleigh House justice. Driving through the main gate and seeing the view over the hills to the sea for the first time is truly stunning. House and cottage are beautiful and tastefully decorated. Equipped with everything you'd need. No problems experienced at all and thoroughly enjoyed our stay
We stayed at Dolly’s and Aggie’s Barns. Children and Parents in Aggie’s and rest in Dolly’s. Worked perfectly. Lovely grounds and short drive to beaches.
Beautiful situation and surroundings. Wonderful conservatory/lounge to sit and take in the view. Kitchen well equipped. Lashings of hot water. The owners extremely kind and helpful and keen to make sure we were well provided for. We found the dining room a little too small to really be able to relax in over meals.
Beautiful property and location. The only down side was not being able to park up when we arrived after a long journey, and more comfortable chairs needed in lounge where the plug sockets under tv were an eye sore.
This was our second stay at Gitcombe. The cottages and facilities are fantastic, all set amidst a heavenly location. Our only criticism were the beds in Maristow - they were very uncomfortable.
Exmoor Farmhouse was just what we wanted, a beautiful location and amazing house with room for all the family to spread out comfortably. Fantastic views and places nearby to enjoy the wonderful countryside. The younger members of the family really enjoyed the games room. We had a wonderful week. Thank you to the owners for sharing their beautiful home.
Nuide Farmhouse is the perfect base for a summer stay in the Cairngorms - it is ideally located a short drive from Aviemore and also down to the southern highlands. The property is surrounded by beautiful hills and the River Spey is only a few minutes walk from the bottom of the garden. The house itself is huge and provides fantastic accommodation for a large family, with a large living room, dining room and relaxed breakfast room. The property is furnished and decorated very tastefully and hits just the right balance with being comfortable and not overly formal. This was our second tim...more
We loved High Bullen and would certainly return. It is excellent for family holidays with grandparents, children and grandchildren - lots to do to keep everyone happy. Staff were friendly and helpful, the swimming pool was wonderful - very clean and a perfect temperature. Tennis courts, golf and snooker were enjoyed by everyone in the family. Very few negatives, but personally we found the uphill trek from Deer View cottage to be a bit steep for grandparents. We would book Fairway East/West another time. The golf course was fun for holiday golf but the trolleys were not good - buggies wer...more
This was our second stay at the cottage, since we were there last year there has been some changes to the property, which have only improved what in our opinion was a great place to stay.
My family (two adults, three teenagers and dogs) had a wonderful stay at Braunton Farmhouse. It’s in a stunning location, out on its own in the countryside and so peaceful but only ten minutes from Braunton and Saunton Sands. It’s very spacious, well equipped and very clean and comfortable. We definitely hope to return!
A lovely place to stay, and at only 8 hours notice, a really good service. Everything was clean tidy comfortable cosy and just what we wanted. Only ? I had was how to deal with rubbish as each council seems to have a different collection policy, and it was not clear. This is easily rectified.
Sunnycliffe is almost the perfect place to stay for beautiful views and location but needs a little more help to make it comfortable. The sofa’s in the lounge need cushions. There needs to be a table cloth. The parking arrangements need to be clearer before booking as nightmare to manoeuvre.
We really enjoyed our four night stay at the Hayloft. A lovely one bedroomed cottage, fully furnished with everything you need to make your stay comfortable. Spotlessly clean, very peaceful, so quiet at night slept very well. Ideal base for visiting all the nearby scenic and coastal spots. Beautiful area for walking. Indoor swimming pool on site, we did manage to get a dip in late afternoon, it was pretty busy during the day with young children, obviously on school holidays. Would definitely stay again. Many thanks for a lovely stay.
Unfortunately can not review Stable Cottage as this was not in use after we initially booked. We were kept informed of changes and family were put into alternative accommodation. Although this was perfectly adequate they were in separate rooms and did miss out on a communal area to sit and relax and obviously no self catering facilities.
The size of the property was wonderful for a family of ten. The garden was a lovely size for the children to play. The kitchen was well equipped and we ate there most evenings.
Spacious house. Sofas need a little tlc. Great space for children to play in garden. Aga made kitchen very hot to work in. Unfortunately all showers not working but had use of baths. Jean, housekeeper, very helpful and easy to contact with any concerns.
Fantastic time at Wheel Farm Cottages. Had most things we needed although not all the same equipment in each cottage (for example our friends had a cafetière in theirs but we didn’t). But the beds were comfy, and it was great having the shared pool area. Lovely having meals on table and chairs outside the cottage in the sunshine. Would have welcomed having sheets made available during the heatwave rather than thick duvets, but we were very grateful for the cool(er) stone cottages! I think there is relatively recent new ownership with some plans for renovations - cottages are clean and comforta...more
Nice house ,needed a car, a bit in the middle of nowhere. Rented house and two cottages for a family holiday, the house was by far the best accommodation
The cottage is lovely. The layout of the bedrooms downstairs give everyone privacy and they are all good sized. Well equipped. The location is excellent. Parking is easy. The property is only accessed via the front door and there is only 1 key. When I text the property manager to ask if there was another she said no, to use the key safe outside. The problem with this is if one couple/person goes out they either lock everyone in the house or have to wake people up to get back in. This caused issues as we were holidaying with small children who could be asleep at various times of the day plus ...more
Perfect place,so beautiful very clean surround,30 mins to the coast. Woodpecker has a lot of privacy, fenced garden, place to sit outside. Exercise field for dogs just behind the cottage.Laundry in the same building for 50p per wash. Electricity extra paid.Would be back in 100%
It is a quaint cottage set in the most magical setting where time slows to allow a complete recharge of yourself. It really is rural but never far from a maddening crowd whenever you want to step into either the local towns or incredible coastline walks and towns that are dotted along the Jurassic coastline
Very disappointed, hired house and two cottages for a family holiday. The Shippen cottage had a broken toilet and a fridge full of water, also a bin full of rubbish . Pool was too cold, so children were reluctant to use it
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, looking to rebook. Quiet location but with village pub, shop and tearoom nearby. Cannot fault for comfort and equipment. Excellent centre for walking and exploring Exmoor. Our two dogs also liked their holiday
we all enjoyed our stay in beautiful Instow. The beach at low tide is spectacular and perfect for dog walking, and there were lots of good places to go for days out, especially Marwood House gardens which were spectacular. John's deli has everything that you need for the stay and we can recommend the breakfast!
Well out of the way, a relaxing break. Village shop and pub a credit to the residents. 25 minutes to a choice of beaches. Give it a go!!
A very comfortable stay with plenty to do! Hotel staff very accommodating and helpful. Outdoor pool was never busy but visit out of state school holidays. There was refurbishment going on but this did not affect the holiday. Excellent community shop 5 minutes down the road!
Very nice cottage with everything we needed. Would recomend ............................................................ ..
Lovely garden in a peaceful location. While the cottage was functional, it was tired and need of updating.
A little more attention to detail on the cleaning front and some TLC required to the fixtures and fittings.
The property needs some outside lights as it’s very difficult when it’s so dark The oven needs abit of maintenance as it only seems to cook at one temperature ( very high)
Disappointed as it didn’t live up to the 5* reviews. No welcome or contact from owner/ manager throughout stay. We even gave contractor access to to laundry room to collect laundry as no management there. We had to uncover and cover pool ourselves due to no onsite management. Children's play area disappointing, consisted of a slide and a log structure. Furniture tired and accommodation not recently renovated as described. Having said that it wasn’t dirty or uncomfortable.
A high-standard accommodation in an excellent setting Would recommend to others and would certainly return myself
Loved our stay! Cottage was perfect for our needs. Exmoor was gloriously awash with autumn colour. Many thanks for all
On day of arrival checked accommodation we found the following 1. No cutlery 2. Mouldy bread rolls dated 18 June 22 & another packet 19 June 22 in cupboard. 3. Half eaten bag of crisps and sweets in cupboard. 4. Cobwebs all around windows in kitchen/lounge/bedroom. 5. Dining table had coffee & food stains on it. 6. Dirty cereal bowl. 7. No cover on bedroom light 8. Pillowcase stained brown marks. All in all when we confronted owner there was no apology or explanation. Its as if he's not bothered about attention to detail. We took photos of some of the above. Photos & material on webs...more
We had a great stay in Instow. The location of the property is perfect, right across from the beach and close to a number of nice pubs and restaurants. The off-road parking was very welcome too, given how difficult it is to park anywhere in Instow! The property was very clean and the living room and bedrooms were pleasant. The garden was a real bonus, especially having our dog with us and the table and chairs are in a real suntrap, so we enjoyed breakfast there most days. My only criticism would be the kitchen and bathroom, they're both quite tired looking. All the appliances in the ki...more
We had a great stay at wheel farm. Great location for exploring the coast and Exmoor. We really liked the facilities - we used the pool and tennis court a lot. The only slight downside was the poor internet connection. The Wi-Fi didn’t reach our cottage. It would probably be better to advertise the place with no internet available, so people aren’t disappointed. We had a great time though and would recommend Wheel Farm heartily!
Comfortable bed with good quality linen. Cottage generally clean and quiet though grout on bathroom tiles discoloured in places. Kitchen equipment fine though no J-cloth or paper Kitchen Roll was provided. Wi-Fi unreliable and kept dropping out. Several guests had questions about the facilities and although the manager was contactable by phone, a complex of this size probably needs someone present on-site daily to keep an eye on site-maintenance/litter etc.
This was a great place for our stay. Comfortable warm clean and everything we needed. Excellent value. Nothing to do with the property but twice we tried to book with the pub, the second time we tried on the Monday and first day we could go was Friday, we left Friday! Surely not all tables were booked all night, we just wanted an early evening drink. BUT, this does not reflect on the Byre which was excellent . Thanks for a great week.
Stag Lodge was an excellent base to access the many fine mountains of Achnashellach. The cottage's elevated position above the road gave a great view looking over to Moruisg and Sgurr nan Ceannaichean. It was very useful having a utility room to leave any wet and muddy clothes after a day's hillwalking. Matthew, the gamekeeper, was very welcoming and always available to help. We very much enjoyed our stay in this lovely part of the Highlands.
I will never stay again due to the Owner not being very welcoming on arrival he was more concerned about the bins etc. We didn’t like the fact that in the living room an adjoining door allowed access by the owner so didn’t feel comfortable about this. Also because of two kittens We couldn’t let our dog of the lead near The cottage. This was not mentioned prior booking up. Also we had to buy a frying pan as the one we replace was unsatisfactory. The carpet was in poor condition. Otherwise the location was excellent. Too bad about the very narrow country lanes.
