The Linhay cottage at Wheel Farm, was a perfect base for our family holiday, a fantastic location, very high standard of accommodation, set on lovely grounds, with a wonderful indoor pool on site. The owners made us feel very welcomed and we will be returning next year. Many thanks.
This house was in an excellent location, two minutes from the beach. The house inside was very clean and all amenities were there. You could not ask anymore from the owners. The owners went far beyond to assist. Ideal location for walking and visiting other towns.
Although The Shippen is not the largest of holiday cottages, it was perfectly comfortable for our needs and great value for money. It was quiet and private, and there is plenty of space in the grounds for social distancing from other families. The booking system to allow social distancing in the pool was fair, and we loved being able to have the whole pool to ourselves.
Me and my family had a fabulous week at the wheel cottage farm. We will definitely be revisiting! Such a lovely place and lovely people!
We were lucky to get this booking following a cancellation and enjoyed our week there. The location is excellent, overlooking the beach and the town. Whilst there are 4 rentals on the same property, we had no problems with parking or with even generally seeing the other guests. Once inside, everything was clean and well kept, with everything we needed. The barbecue and hot tub certainly saw some use as we relaxed watching the sunset. We would happily stay again if we return to the area. Finally, the service from the team and the correspondence was excellent making everything run very smoothly.
We had a lovely stay in Ford Hill Cottage. Communication from Janet was perfect, both before and during the stay. The cottage itself was perfect for us and was well stocked with all the kitchen utensils and things we might need. Having tea and milk there for when we arrived was a lifesaver. Recommendations for local places to eat were all spot on. Would highly recommend this cottage as a base for exploring Devon.
Lots to do, hotel was very accommodating visited Barnstaple, Westward Ho and Lynmouth! +Tennis/golf
Myself and my five friends had such a wonderful time staying at Park View Farmhouse. The location is excellent, as are the facilities. The hot tub was a firm favourite!
House was beautiful. Very well equipped and plenty of space for everyone to spread out. Had some lovely meals in the huge dining room. We really enjoyed using the hot tub and pool table. Spacious grounds with a secret gate to Lydford Gorge. Lots of lovely local walks and wonderful scenery.
Cottage was brilliant & clean. Owners were great & really helpful. Location good to get everywhere, would recommend to anyone.
Every single one of us loved staying in the house, it was beautifully decorated and well equipped for all our needs. The garden and veranda areas was perfect for bbqs, quiet drinks and yoga with the sunrise. Internally the bedrooms were comfy, cost and the downstairs area was perfect for chilling and dining, the kitchen had everything we needed - it was well stocked. The location was ideal as it was close to Braunton with many shops, takeaways and coffee pick ups. We also spent alot of time at Saunton Sands which was just down the road, which is a great surf beach. Thank you for accommodating ...more
We had a lovely stay in Hayloft, slight issue on arrival that was dealt with with in 20 seconds (literally)! Lovely cottage in a great setting around a pretty courtyard, use of pool, close to Combe Martin. Already recommended the place to friends.
We have just spent a fantastic week on Exmoor staying at the wonderful Exmoor Farmhouse. It's a super house for a large group (we were 12 across 3 generations) with a beautiful view across Withypool and the moor. The house has loads of space and many rooms including a dining room that more than coped with 15 of us on one evening, a large kitchen breakfast room and a living room which also comfortably accommodated all of us for games and quizzes. Some of the decor in the house is amazing, there are books and artwork everywhere and it is clearly a much loved family home when not being used by gu...more
Everything was done in the present conditions to make it feel really safe.We would definitely recommend these cottages and would go again.
Had a lovely stay in the main farmhouse, 12 extended family for 40th birthday. The house is very well equipped and Cathy was very helpful. Highly recommend Higher Mullacott Farm, great location for exploring North Devon.
If you want peace and quiet with night time blackout then this pace should suit you. Its remote and about at least two miles to civilization. We enjoyed our stay and apart from a brief initial meeting with the owner, we were undisturbed all week.
We enjoyed a fabulous weeks family holiday in this lovely farmhouse. The location is perfect for exploring local beaches, Ilfracombe, Croyde, Saunton, Woolacombe, and Combe Martin beaches provided plenty of entertainment for the children and the indoor pool was an added bonus. We were delighted that it was still available and the Covid restrictions made this a safe and entertaining facility for the entire group. By booking a specific time per property we were able to enjoy exclusive use for an hour which was lovely for the babies in our party - the inflatables were great fun, so a big 'thank y...more
Lovely accommodation in an ideal position. Only a short walk to centre, right on the burrows if you are dog walking and easy access out if you are going out for the day and if you need the bus, a stop right there. Accommodation spotless on arrival, all amenities and more, comfy beds, great showers, no expense spared here at all. Thoroughly recommended.
Had a lovely week at Lower Mill cottage. Richard and Alli have gone to great lengths to ensure the cottages and whole site are COVID secure so it felt a safe place to be. Grounds very well kept and attractive, plenty of space. Lovely to watch the birds feeding from the window. Swimming pool clean and well kept with a booking system for exclusive use. Shame sauna not available but understandable in the circumstances. Our cottage was warm and cosy. Didn’t need to use the log burner but everything provided if we had to. Only slight down side for us was the noise of people in the accommoda...more
We had a lovely time at Nuide House. The house was spacious yet cosy and we enjoyed exploring the surrounding area. The bottles of Prosecco on arrival were particularly well appreciated! Thanks for everything!
We had an excellent stay in dolly’s barn, beautiful house and grounds. Location on busy road so would be unsuitable to walk or cycle anywhere nearby. Owners of the house on site who were very friendly and welcoming. The grounds for children are fantastic. My favourite cottages a third party agent who we booked through weren’t the most helpful and I felt like a burden if I had any questions so wouldn’t recommend using them. Go direct if you can.
We loved the location of the cottages and grounds and beautiful lake. However the downside to Blare Cottage is that there was no view from any window and it was quite dark downstairs. Good for short stay and ideally located for the wonderful beaches that are not far away In a car and the surrounding countryside. But disappointing because of positioning of Blare Cottage.
lovely cottage, lovely countryside, great location, and lovely owners, they were very helpful. Very good place for the dogs with an on site field to run in.
We stayed with friends and our sibling Cockerpoo puppies in The Stables for one week. The weather was atrocious (the wettest week ever I think) but the cottage was spacious, warm and well equipped. Bedrooms were large, as was the kitchen and lounge/diner. The normal hotel leisure facilities were mainly closed (covid19 and all that), and the golf course too wet unless you had webbed feet. We ate once in the Cellar Bar where the food was very good. My only negative point is that there are no facilities for dogs, although they are clearly welcome. We took towels, floor coverings and even a hos...more
Have styed here on several occasions, the views are stunning. Cottage has always offered a great deal, this year we found some changes. A new multifuel burner has been installed in the lounge, which is super efficient. This is an ideal location for those who want to explore or simply want a place of peace and quiet.
Beautiful house in a stunning location really peaceful with a very relaxing atmosphere. A very friendly welcome from Jean who shared some of her knowledge about the house and the village with us. Hope to return in the future
The apartment is very clean & is equipped with all the appliances/utensils you’d expect. All cleaning products are provided & extras like toiletries was nice. We loved the cream tea provided on arrival! The location is fantastic as just across the road from the Beach. However the best thing about the property is the large shared terrace with the amazing views out to sea. All in all a lovely little place.
A haven in a wonderful location. The sea sounds, the views, the location for walks. Would definitely return without hesitation.
Escaping to this wonderful cottage after months of lockdown was a tonic. We had stayed there a few years ago but there was the cottage had been modernised with a lovely walk in shower and new furniture in the lounge.
Enjoyed our stay at this cottage Owners lovely ,the cottage was of a very good standard. The cake and milk supplied was a nice bonus . Fishing ok but this time of the year please make sure you have bite cream with you
The hot tub and views are amazing and it's easy to get to most places. The interior is modern and stylish. Due to Covid there were no spare crockery and they asked we use the dishwasher which was fine but only 3 tabs provided and when there's 4 of you dishes need washing each time. There was also only 1 bin bag and no bag for food waste. The sofa was a little hard and low, but the biggest issue was the flies. We understand this is a bad time of year, but some fly traps need to be placed throughout. We would definitely go back but not at this time of year. The host met us on arrival and was ve...more
excellent character cottage with good facilities and cleanliness. wi-fi connection was only problem.
Great place to stay. Well located close to beach and woolacombe village. Stunning views across the bay and out to sea. Comfortable accommodation, would recommend for a family or large group. Hot tub was a favourite.
Lovely cottage in great location, very spacious With all facilities available. Also takes dogs too. We enjoyed it
Excellent all round, thoroughly enjoyed it and will return. The peaceful setting and the excellent facilities were just what we needed, a good location to explore from as well.
Quiet, peaceful location with a very large grassy area for children to play plus a well built play area well away from the cottages so as not to disturb other guests. Our cottage "lake view" was very roomy with ensuite double and two other very roomy twin bedrooms which shared a large bathroom with bath and separate shower etc. Lounge and dining/kitchen were very roomy. The kitchen was well equipped with a lot of worktop space with fridge, cooker, microwave, toaster, dishwasher and washing machine. Lounge was spacious with three two seater settees. Televisions in the lounge and all three bed...more
It is a quaint cottage set in the most magical setting where time slows to allow a complete recharge of yourself. It really is rural but never far from a maddening crowd whenever you want to step into either the local towns or incredible coastline walks and towns that are dotted along the Jurassic coastline
We have stayed at fairways East before some years ago it did not disappoint, house lovely plenty of space very clean, plenty of equipment in the house, we ate in the hotel each night food was fab Staff very friendly, we had b fast also on our departure date lovely but pricy for what you got, the facilities are excellent at Highbullen under normal non COVID circumstances billiards, outdoor pool to cold now though, golf, Simulator, surrounding area is very remote the tight lanes are fun, Lovely for walks though
We were very pleased with our holiday cottage, plenty of room and the amenities on offer such as pool and tennis court were well used. Location was superb and hosts very welcoming and attentive. Would definitely recommend and revisit. Many thanks
Janine and staff and did a great job of ensuring that our stay was safe and enjoyable. The location was ideal for us as we wanted to visit many different coastal places and towns as we walked many sections of the SW Coast Path. We were able to complete from Combe Martin to Instow over 5 days and 4 nights and really enjoyed our stay at Aylescott.
It was absolutely brilliant - everything we wanted it to be for our sons first holiday. Can’t wait to come back!
we stayed at seascape at the end of August. The weather ( Storm Ellen and Francis ) was challenging and we were not able to make use of the outside space or decking but made the best of things. thankfully the internal space and light interior and excellent facilities helped mitigate the worst the British Summer could throw at us. ( ps please if possible could you email us the make of the mattress in the master bedroom as particularly comfortable )
This has the potential to be a really lovely place to escape to for a weekend break, like we have just done. It has been done up beautifully, there’s just a few places where money has been saved that bring it down, in my opinion. The first one rally being the bed. The mattress was awful and the bed is so low that with a squidgy mattress too it felt like an effort to get up - mind you the coastal path could walking possibly has something to do with the struggle too. I’d prefer a proper shower too instead of a waterfall one, but I appreciate that changes the aesthetics of the bathrooms. It’s ...more
The house was a wonderful spacious haven during the Covid crisis. Really well equipped with a gorgeous garden.
The cottage was clean and comfortable not sure if because of covid 19 there was little in the way for us to clean the property during the week, ie. no hoover provided and only a broken brush and pan for brushing the floors. No plug for using in the kitchen sink and no washing up bowl so that made things a little difficult. Very little in the way of cooking utensils, ie. no carving knives, peeling knives or any cooker tray in which to prepare/cook our Sunday lunch. The neighbours were very welcoming and helpful and leant us their knives for the week. Cottage is in a wonderful position w...more
We have stayed at High Bullen before and would go back there again. Me and my nephew were there for the golf and you couldn't fault this apart from the clubhouse being closed which is a sign of the times. At the moment with just about everything either closed or restricted I would not recommend staying there unless you just want to unwind which the cottage we were in was perfect for. Restaurant prices are to expensive and drink prices as well. Save yourself some money and go to the Exeter arms just up the road or the bell inn which serves some of the best food I have tasted.
We enjoyed our stay at Lower Leys Cottage very much. It is a wonderful location, very quiet with fabulous views. On arrival we found the cottage very clean and tidy and there was nice bedding and soft towels. The bedrooms are a good size and the downstairs has a good cosy feel. Our children loved saying hello to the horses and sheep on the farm. It is a good base to explore the surrounding area and we would recommend this property. The only drawbacks are slow broadband and no phone / 4g coverage.
Due to the atrocious weather from Friday evening arrival until departure on Tuesday morning it is difficult to give a fair assessment. The cottage was nice and comfortable for our party of four adults, I appreciate that Covid 19 cleaning precautions meant that it took longer to prepare the cottage but as guests have to depart by 9 a.m. on their last day I thought 5pm was late to gain access especially as you are paying for the night. The cottage was 3 bedroom and accommodation for 6 people, but, with only 1 bathroom/toilet better for 4 guests max. We managed to fish the lakes on two days but ...more
This was our 2nd stay at Oyster Cove and already thinking about our 3rd stay! It had everything we needed ( apart from the weather this time). Lovely having extra beds for our family to join us for a few nights. Garden was great size and caught the sun in the morning by the decking outside the living room and then in the evening by the bbq area. Perfect location only 10 min walk to beach along quiet lanes avoiding the main road.
See above A very nice house in a beautiful location with a stunning view. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Had a very relaxing stay at Magnolia Cottage, so relaxing we didn’t want to leave! Very comfortable cottage with everything you could need and more Great location in a lovely village. Thoroughly recommend a stay at Magnolia Cottage.
Slightly old fashioned, but having dogs you don't want anything too fancy. It is a very spacious apartment with small garden at the rear and wonderful estuary/sea views out front, so even on a rainy day you can sit and watch the world go by.
We arrived on a cold and wet Friday afternoon to a clean and warm cottage. The cottage had good WiFi coverage but no mobile coverage as it is in a valley so if you want to plan a route out do it before you leave the cottage. Also beware of unmade roads close by that some navigation apps may try and take you down. Fortunately we have a good 4x4 with adjustable suspension so we didn't loose the sump and didn't get stuck.
10 of us (6 plus 4 kids) enjoyed family holiday in this well equipped house. Garden was great too. Wi-intermittently working. No facility for recycling waste. Contrary to advice there is no facility at nearby Morrisons (Newquay) and no facility for collection. We ended up going to the council recycling centre. I am sure some guests would resort to putting in the general waste. For these reasons would say 8 out of 10.
Very comfortable stay; would absolutely return. Owners shared warm hospitality with us, and the Estate staff were fantastic. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a true "get away from it all" Scottish Highlands retreat.
I will never stay again due to the Owner not being very welcoming on arrival he was more concerned about the bins etc. We didn’t like the fact that in the living room an adjoining door allowed access by the owner so didn’t feel comfortable about this. Also because of two kittens We couldn’t let our dog of the lead near The cottage. This was not mentioned prior booking up. Also we had to buy a frying pan as the one we replace was unsatisfactory. The carpet was in poor condition. Otherwise the location was excellent. Too bad about the very narrow country lanes.
Great location for exploring both Devon & Dorset. To reach the cottage you have to tackle a very narrow lane which can be tricky. We chose the cottage as it allowed dogs. The cottage is very pretty with a lovely garden, rooms are spacious although kitchen could be bigger. The only disappointment were the bathrooms, there was only one shower however it wasn’t fit for purpose, we couldn’t get it to work properly, even after contacting the owners it still didn’t work (no pressure & ran cold) there were two large baths, however the water would only run hot for approximately a minute, not good wh...more
