Barnstable is an excellent base for exploring North Devon and Courtyard Cottage couldn't be situated better - a few minutes from the town centre (by car) but completely tucked away up a long private drive, high up on the side of the valley with great views over the town. The cottage is beautifully decorated and equipped and although situated in fairly close proximity to the owner's house and another neighbour it's not difficult to find a secluded spot on 1 of the 3 patios that come with the cottage. The best is the patio above the garage which is equipped with seats and catches the afternoon a...more
We had a fantastic stay at The Hen House. The location is perfect - it's surrounded by fields but only a short drive to the coast. The sundeck with the loungers, table-set and hot-tub is perfect for catching the sunshine and taking in the amazing view across the fields and we loved watching the cows in the field below the sundeck. The owners were really friendly and helpful and the extra touch of placing a bottle of milk, clotted cream, home-made jam and scones as a welcome gift was amazing - the scones were delicious. The interior was was warm and comfortable with everything we needed to make...more
We stayed at the shepherds shed at Accott Manor late August, upon arrival we were blown away with all the amenities available and the location. It was absolutely perfect in every way Will definitely book again
This property is adjacent to the Barn where the rest of the family group, and dogs stayed., and was not used for much cooking.or entertainment. So a full review is not provided as the larger facilities of The Barn formed a large part of our facilities.. The lovely gardens and grounds, daily fun in the pool, and nearness to walks and seaside were valued.
From the moment we stepped through the door of Seaweed we knew we were on our holidays. Nikki and Mark, the owners, had left a wonderful welcome display of homemade bread, nibbles and wine chilling in the fridge. A perfect way to start our holidays. The house itself is so inviting, sunny and beautifully decorated. It is very well equipped, Nikki has considered everything you could possibly need. There is plenty of room and comfortably fits 6 people- there were 6 of us - 4 adults and 2 teenagers and it never felt cramped. The beach is less than a 2 minute walk away, a picturesque cove where you...more
Lovely spot, the quirky accommodation has been well thought out with everything you might need provided. With the terrace lighting & as it is sheltered it can be enjoyed on a overcast evening. Lynton is the perfect spot with places to see / walks from the town as well as the perfect base to see north Devon & Exmoor. I would certainly recommend!
Stunning cottage in an ideal location for discovering North Devon. Everything your will ever need in a holiday cottage with a very high standard of finish. Beautiful.
We were lucky to get this booking following a cancellation and enjoyed our week there. The location is excellent, overlooking the beach and the town. Whilst there are 4 rentals on the same property, we had no problems with parking or with even generally seeing the other guests. Once inside, everything was clean and well kept, with everything we needed. The barbecue and hot tub certainly saw some use as we relaxed watching the sunset. We would happily stay again if we return to the area. Finally, the service from the team and the correspondence was excellent making everything run very smoothly.
Perfect accommodation for a group. Communal spaces are spacious and beautiful as well as the bedrooms, comfortable and spacious. The spacious garden and hot tub is a great bonus. The host was perfect and on hand throughout our stay. Only thing I would suggest is having some seating on the grass area where the sun shines all day would be a nice addition as sitting on the grass can get a little uncomfortable. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Whitelady House is situated in stunning surroundings. We were a family group of 11, ages from 12 to 82. Our week"s holiday was spent in great comfort in this spacious house with plenty of local activities for all ages. We recommend the nearby Castle Inn
We had a wonderful stay at Springfield Linney, the cottage and location are perfect! The only thing to add is to list fully on the description what is actually included at the cottage mostly smaller electrical items ie toaster, hairdryer, iron, not a criticism just to assist future holiday makers. Hopefully we will enjoy another stay in the future at Springfield Linney.
We had a super week's family holiday here. The cottages are beautiful in a lovely setting. The children loved the pool, play area and all the green space. Richard & Alli were welcoming but not intrusive, on hand for any queries and the perfect hosts. Wholeheartedly recommend.
We stayed here for a week to celebrate a big birthday as part of our annual holiday, our family of 4 here and our parents and their dog in the Hayloft. It was delayed due to covid but we were happy to be away. Cottage was lovely, kitchen could do with another cupboard for food storage, as most of the cupboards are already full with pots/pans/cooking trays/glassware etc, so no issue there! The rooms are comfy, would suit a young family more rather than my 2 pre-teens, as it's a bit snug on space, even in the master bedroom, but functional. Nice bathroom, needs a shelf or something for toothpast...more
Lovely new property, exquisitely clean and well looked after, and perfect for the *whole* family. The beach was a little further away than we would have liked (either a hike through a golf course, or a march along the road), but the views were nice and the accommodation spectacular. This property had no others behind it so you don't have people overlooking you when you're in the hottub. A bit odd with the bedrooms downstairs and the living areas upstairs, but definitely worth the price of the stay which was not exuberant.
The house was very comfortable for our large family holiday. Well equipped for cooking. Garden is brilliant, just need to beware of water at end of orchard area if you have toddlers. Easy walking distance to shops and takeaways. Good parking. We were surprised how much food belonging to owners was in cupboard - a little confusing.
The holiday house and location is beautiful .my only criticism is the bathrooms glass panels on the bathroom doors and there is no privacy in the master bedroom .also two of the bedrooms have very small beds .this was alright for us as we had children in our party .l also think a welcome pack with local food would be a nice touch .however we still had a lovely week
Who knew ‘shippen’ means cattle shed?! It was a lovely place to stay, just away enough from from the bustle of town . Easy stroll to readymoney beach and onto the coastal path, Fowey busy but great.
Lovely accommodation, very peaceful, absolutely spotless, very friendly owners who were very helpful . Would thoroughly recommend
Comfortable and roomy for two people. Excellent kitchen facilities and good sitting area and warmth. Bathroom a little tiny to move in. Lots to see and do in the surrounding area and Combe Martin is lovely. Plenty of walks in and around Exmoor, and beautiful river gorges.
We spent a week at the cottage which was very well maintained and spacious for our party of 5, the location is stunning, very well positioned to be able to all get to all corners of Devon. The open plan living area is very well designed which ensures that everyone feels included in conversations and activities. The Kitchen is to a high spec with all the essential equipment which gives you the option to cook a full Sunday roast or just pizza and chips. Bathrooms are very spacious with a great shower. The decking area was a lovely space to sit having breakfast or dinner whilst enj...more
Beautiful cottage set in idyllic gardens, everything you need for a week away is at this lovely cottage. The renovation has been carried out to a very high standard, with quality fixtures and fittings. All the bedding, towels etc are of the finest and made it a very comfortable place to holiday, we stayed for four nights and it definitely wasn’t long enough. Would highly recommend. We are looking forward to our return visit.
The apartment was very comfortable, had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. It was well situated to visit lots of places.
Was lovely to get away to a nice remote location but close enough to all the things we wanted to do. The hosts were extremely helpful and informative when we needed to ask anything other than that they were in no way intrusive. The Tallet is an extremely idyllic location and was nice to hear and see the numerous wildlife around the area. I Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to friends and also to return in the future. Thank you for a lovely week.
We had a great stay for 18 of us at ‘The Farmhouse’ and ‘Aggies Cottage’. Very easy reservations and check in process, great location, and friendly hosting from Mark, Tina and Jessica. We have already booked again for next year!!
Delighted to say the farm house was beautiful ,cosy and very spaciouse , everything you needed for a family of 6 adults and 4 children aged 7 to 16 , the surrounding gardens were amazing , plenty of room for the children to run around , we used the tennis court and loved the swimming pool , used every day . Hospitality was excellent we wer left to our own devises and this gave to a relaxed atmosphere during our stay , only one fault we found was the duvets wer rather warm for us ,, and maybe use a cooler tog for summer time , we would recomed Wheell farm and would love to return one day . We were meant to stay last year to celebrate a big birthday, but covid meant it got pushed back to this August. The cottage was lovely, but slightly cramped for a family of 4, not much room around the beds etc but it was functional. The shower works but is more akin to washing in a gentle rain storm due to low pressure, but it did the job. Storage is limited, especially the kitchen, it has cupboards for pots/cooking trays/glassware etc, but none for storing food. So a bit disappointing. The area was lovely, lots of space for dog walking and the kids to play safely. The pool is great, was my ki...more
Fantastic location for hillwalking and touring. Great views from lounge of lochs and mountains - spectacular sunsets (weather dependant). Wildlife in garden - badger, buzzard, sparrows, siskins, robins, blackbirds and more. Seals nearby and deer just off road. On previous occasion pine marten visited. Great lounge. Nice well equipped kitchen and utility room. Comfortable beds. Great food and beer at Dornie Lodge. Wide selection of good eating and dining in Plockton also nearby Kintail Lodge and Clunie Inn. Small shop selling bread, milk, ready meals, ice cream, frozen food 5 min wa...more
An absolutely stunning, luxurious and spacious property with incredible coastal views and only five minutes walk to the beach. Perfect for our family of five adults and five grandchildren aged 5-10. Owners have put so much care and attention into every detail to make it a truly wonderful holiday home. The hot tub was a huge hit as was toasting marshmallows on the fire pit at the end of each day! Yes, there are steps to the property but so worth it for the views. Car parking on a private road a real bonus as was easy access to shops and restaurants. Already booked to return but not surprisingly...more
A lovely stay...just one or two details- a dryer would be a bonus as would some plastic plates and tumblers for children to use. The towel rail in the main bathroom wasn’t working(we had to use the other one to air some washing as we couldn’t get radiators to work either). Excellent to have downstairs toilet and separate utility room. Comfortable furniture and beds.
The property was clean upon arrival but the kitchen area was full of lots of flies which felt pretty unhygienic. Customer service was good but some things were not made clear upon check in such as how the rubbish to the property should be disposed of. Communications received prior to arrival talked about someone showing us around the house but this didn’t happen. A more extensive ‘welcome pack’ at the property would be good especially if it included details of local tourist attractions. Overall the property was comfortable, especially the beds. However, the seating area in the lounge was...more
Nuide Farmhouse is the perfect base for a summer stay in the Cairngorms - it is ideally located a short drive from Aviemore and also down to the southern highlands. The property is surrounded by beautiful hills and the River Spey is only a few minutes walk from the bottom of the garden. The house itself is huge and provides fantastic accommodation for a large family, with a large living room, dining room and relaxed breakfast room. The property is furnished and decorated very tastefully and hits just the right balance with being comfortable and not overly formal. This was our second tim...more
We had a fantastic holiday and would definitely book again , Jean (house keeper ) went above and beyond to make sure our stay was exceptional . The house is full of character and set with amazing views and a great base for walking and not to far from town . Beds where comfortable and clean and kitchen fully functional and I loved that we could bring our dogs with no worries. Definitely try local meat. The wild cat trail was great fun for the kids and adults
We spent a week here with my parents, our 2 children and 2 dogs, staying in the Dairy and the Hayloft. The service received by Richard and Alli was brilliant from the moment we arrived and throughout our stay. The site itself is lovely, beautiful scenery and plenty of space for the children and dogs to play and explore. The swimming pool was a highlight for us as they children were thrilled to be able to use it every day and have it all to ourselves by booking an hourly time slot. The cottages were in good condition and had all the facilities we needed for our stay. Would definitely recommen...more
A hillside meadow strewn with wild flowers with an incredible view for miles across the Taw Valley and the sea! Large, warm, dry bell tents with plenty of room, a cosy fire pit for chilly evenings, and a spotless toilet/shower block. Great, friendly guest hospitality from the owners, farmers Jim and Amy, with an opportunity to see their animals and their sustainable farming approach. Would I go again? Yes! Although I would take a gas stove and kettle for quick cuppas, and a windbreak to make the fire area nice and cosy.
We thoroughly enjoyed the peace and remoteness of the house, although roads gettingto and from were an adventure. Very comfortable for our 3 families and plenty of space for dog and the twins to run around outside. More hooks on bathroom doors would have been useful. Small reserve of toilet rolls would be useful too.
Had a lovely time at lower mill, we had a warm welcome from Ali and Richard, lovely well kept gardens, great swimming pool and dog friendly
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the cottage had everything we wanted, and was very comfortable to be in. It is in a peaceful location and easy access to lovely places to visit.
We have stayed here a few times now and got to say it’s the most perfect place for R and R Owners are really friendly and go out of their way to help Surrounding beauty spots not to far away Definitely will be back again
Lovely part of the world and a great place to stay A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The house was perfect for our party of 10 (4 adults, 6 kids 1.dog) great size of accommodation, all the items you could require were provided and also a fabulous and generous garden. Fantastic location with an easy stroll to the beach and pubs.
We had a wonderful week long holiday. The weather was gorgeous which meant we wanted to make the most of the spa pool and the firepit and the wonderful garden as well as exploring the beaches and vicinity. The lovely big house was easy to live in and perfect for our needs. Thank you.
Stable Cottage is spacious, very comfortable, in a good central location on the site and well appointed, an excellent base for a family holiday. The staff on-site were all very helpful and easy to deal with and we enjoyed our 2 evening meals in the Cellars restaurant. Most of the facilities were open and with 2 children, we made good use of both the pools. Unfortunately, there seemed to be something of a disconnect between MFC and Highbullen regarding check-in/out times and what was expected of us in connection with Covid-safe practices but, apart from the hour and a half's wait for c...more
We were delighted with our stay the cottage, was beautiful in picturesque surroundings the cottage was lovely inside as well.So peaceful with great walks the hosts were brilliant couldn’t do enough for you. Making sure everything was okay, advising on places to stay, would highly recommend.
We had a wonderful stay ar Rose cottage . It was very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. The beds were very comfortable indeed for a cosy nights sleep. The kitchen was bigger than we thought and very comfortable for cosy meals at the table The garden was lovely for sitting out in and relaxing. The bath was absolutely gorgeous fir soaking in .
It is a quaint cottage set in the most magical setting where time slows to allow a complete recharge of yourself. It really is rural but never far from a maddening crowd whenever you want to step into either the local towns or incredible coastline walks and towns that are dotted along the Jurassic coastline
The cottage is well equipped and positioned for a lovely holiday. It was ready to hand over on time with clear instructions for use. There is great outdoor space for children. The only slight downside is a lack of drying space after the family has been at the beach all day.
The Stables at Parkgate was a perfect location for us. It is a large, beautifully appointed house in the heart of beautiful countryside but within easy reach of Barnstable and lovely places to visit, (Lynmouth, Instow, Hartland Quay, Appledore, Coombe Martin etc). Every bedroom has an en suite bathroom, there is a huge dining room and comfy and again large sitting room. There is a fine patio for outside dining when the weather is fine. The whole place has a homely feel to it. There are excellent entertainment facilities including table football and all the equipment is provided - tennis and p...more
We had a lovely long weekend at High Bullen, the golf course is a beautiful setting and the hotel facilities were great. Everything was straightforward, we didn't have to pre-book the pool or tennis courts and the facilities in our accommodation were brilliant. We have everything we needed and more.
The best thing about this cottage is the wonderful views over Withypool moor. My 8 year old was inspired to walk over Withypool hill by the view from the window and we did just that! Lots of lovely walks and challenging cycling (but Tarka trail and coast near enough for a day trip with kids). Great to come back to comfortable cottage, everything you need. Great shower and plenty of hot water. No mobile phone signal, but internet. This was our second stay and I would love to return.
We stayed for a few nights in October and had a very enjoyable time. It’s a nice little place tucked well away in the countryside and the hosts were very pleasant and accommodating. Would highly recommend this place for a couple wishing to explore the east/ south Devon area.
Great location within walking distance to the beach. Comfortable house, perfect for holiday with friends.
Being in a listed building, the flat is more interesting than often is the case, The location is excellent, with splendid views from the sitting room and terrace that provided hours of gentle relaxation, The fixtures and fittings are fine and comfortable, although constrained to some extent by the fact the building is listed. Having three good pubs within a hundred yards is a bonus, as is falling out of the front door with the dog onto the beach and coast path. My only criticism would be despite a plethora of glasses in the flat, we were unable to find two reasonable wine glasses - and the fla...more
A great setting overlooking stunning views. Proximity to the golf course was a bonus plus being away from the main hotel complex. The accommodation was spacious and furnishings comfortable. There were a couple of faults with electrics and sanitary ware but these were fixed quite quickly by the maintenance team. On the whole a very enjoyable and relaxing stay with great recreational facilities. One major disappointment was the delayed entry to the property. Set at 5 pm by the Hotel (bad enough but can live with reason-just) we weren't able to enter the property until 6.30 pm because th...more
Loved our stay! Cottage was perfect for our needs. Exmoor was gloriously awash with autumn colour. Many thanks for all
Great location although getting the car in was challenging! We loved using the garden as well as the beach. The upstairs bedroom leads off one of the others; fine for kids but maybe not for adults. Adding a freezer and a bathroom update would make it perfect
We were very happy with our stay in Stag lodge. We wanted to mountain bike near the Torridon area so this cottage was perfect for our needs. We loved the drying room and access to a washer and a dryer. The house is situated above a main road but we didn’t notice the traffic and the view from the living room was brilliant.
Beautifully positioned in a quiet village with decent pub food nearby. It does need some travel to get to likely touring spots. The layout is very good, being a barn/byre conversion. It would be good to have a better shower facility in the main bedroom though, to avoid morning queues for the one that serves the rest of the house. there is a bath and shower attachment in the en suite but we never take a bath, only showers. The television when we were there had a bit of a mind of its own when trying to change channels and adjust the volume - we had to switch off and start again. Not sure if it's...more
I will never stay again due to the Owner not being very welcoming on arrival he was more concerned about the bins etc. We didn’t like the fact that in the living room an adjoining door allowed access by the owner so didn’t feel comfortable about this. Also because of two kittens We couldn’t let our dog of the lead near The cottage. This was not mentioned prior booking up. Also we had to buy a frying pan as the one we replace was unsatisfactory. The carpet was in poor condition. Otherwise the location was excellent. Too bad about the very narrow country lanes.
