We booked Low Graythwaite Hall in addition to Silverholme Manor for our wedding guests. It is a truly lovely unique property, there is plenty of communal spaces for sharing dinner and drinks with family and friends as well as the private sanctuary of very large comfortable bedrooms. The period features of the house are a wow factor and the little modern touches make it a home from home. Our guests had a lovely time and each one commented on how beautiful the house was and how comfortable the beds were, there is plenty of walking places to take a stroll and see the beauty of the estate and t...more
Excellent location with views across the lake. Charming cottage with well equipped kitchen and comfortable sitting room. Great walking from the door.
Our second stay at Silverholme and it was as magical as the first. We have stayed in the heat of the Summer and in the frost of the winter and both have been completely difference experiences. We have had the best of both, BBQs and days on the lake and frosty walks, Dinners in the dinning room with a roaring fires and games. Can't wait for our next stay Magical!
The house was amazing; all the comforts of home and more. The kitchen in particular was really well stocked. One slight blip; the pool had been double booked for our second day.
The property was easily located and was clean and tidy although we thought the shower room could do with some attention. The shower door had no catch and could easily come open. The towel radiator never came on making it difficult to dry towels.
The cottage was lovely and cosy we enjoyed spending time there aswell as going out. The swimming pool was just the right size and we had it to ourselves for each booking. We found the farm shop to be extremely pricey. Would definitely book a cottage on the Graythewaite Estate again.
Beautiful period cottage with cosy log burner in the perfect lakeside location on the shore of Lake Windermere.
stayed before several times at different Graythwaite cottages and loved all of them, this little cottage had everything you need and the views of Esthwaite from the patio area stunning will not hesitate to book again.
The cottage is located in the courtyard close to the amenities - shop, games room and swimming pool etc. The booking process was straightforward and Claire was really helpful in dealing with the questions we had in advance of our stay. We extended our stay and Claire was very accommodating. We stayed over Christmas and New Year. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived and the storage heaters kept it that way throughout our stay. The log burner in the lounge made for very cosy evenings. We arrived to a beautiful Christmas tree in the sitting room. The kitchen was well stocked with crock...more
This is the second time we have been to this converted barn which is very comfortable with everything we need it is like home from home. We can’t thank your company enough for making this a memorable holiday. Kind regards Margaret&Ray Tomlinson.
We loved staying on the estate with our family for a winter break weekend. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. The swimming pool access was a huge added bonus and everything we needed was taken care of. Despite the winter discount, the accommodation was still only average for value for money as the condition of the walls and paintwork in the cottage and the pool was poor and the shop was open for only very short hours, which during a two night stay made it challenging to get what we needed, but this did not spoil our stay. If we had paid full price in the holiday peri...more
This was our 4 th visit to the estate with cottages that can accommodate our family of 9 (3 generations) Comfortable cottages .Very clean .well equipped . We Will return .
Stayed for 3 nights and had a pleasant stay. WiFi unpredictable, spotlessly clean throughout, plenty of wood for fire (only used wood burner two nights) the on-site shop was just down the road and have good basic supplies along with an Off- licence.
The house was perfect for a 60th birthday party by the Lake. Beautiful views from the house. The hot tub was great! All instructions very helpful and timely. My only slight quibble was that for the price of the house, should have left shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in each bathroom. There was only handwash. An upmarket house would have this and is much more ecologically friendly. Robes and towels for the pool and hot tub would’ve been a nice addition. This reflects my lower VFM score
Hairdryer, washing up liquid, scourer and cloth provided. Dishwasher and washing machine in the cottage. Beds are really comfy and no noise from outside. Truely relaxing stay. What I would say is take some matches and firelighters with you. If you are not used to lighting log fires these will come in handy, although a welcome bag with firelighters, jam, tea bags, biscuits are waiting for you. The bath needs attention on the draining side, but shower is powerful. Towels are provided. Hot tub is lovely under the stars on a clear night. Log house at the back of the property is suffici...more
The cottage was lovely and cosy, stay for 8 nights, very reasonable price. WiFi was a bit hit and miss but they did sort that out, no phone signal but quite nice to switch off from your phone. Used swimming pool, very clean and nice and warm. Nice walks around the estate.would definitely go back.
We visited Cunsey Lodge at the beginning of August. It has a really spacious living area which is excellent for entertaining, it is clean and the bathrooms are very modern and light. The view from the front bedrooms is wonderful and the property has a hot tub and firepit which we used every day. It was lovely to relax and overlook the lake whilst sat chilling in the hot tub. All bedrooms are ensuite so you get your own privacy too if sharing the property with others.
We have stayed at Graythwaite a number of times and always love it. This time was no exception. Great walks through the estate. Friendly and helpful staff. Cottage very comfortable and clean.
A great break away - such a lovely little cottage, so handy to the pool (literally right next door!) which we were able to book most days of our stay, and in a great location to explore all the Lakes has to offer.
We took our daughter, son, their husband and wife plus 3 young grandchildren for New Year for the second year running. It is so comfortable with plenty of room. Beds comfortable, kitchen well equipped. Lots to do in the surrounding area, walks from the house, Windermere steamer, Aquarium (if rainy). Some of our family tried clay pigeon shooting on the estate and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of other options sound good too. The swimming pool is great - you have to book a session, and they are limited, but it is all yours for that time.
Loved our stay at Mill cottage. The cottage is tucked away down a private road with the river running through the garden and the lake a few hundred yards away. There are lovely, if muddy, walks from the doorstep which is just what we needed. The cottage has everything you will need and the view from the main bedroom is beautiful.
We all enjoyed a comfortable relaxing stay in a lovely setting. Great location. Clean and spacious rooms for a large family group. Hot tub with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Private booking of the swimming pool added to the good facilities. The staff were friendly and helpful with enquiries. Well worth booking for a special family get together.
Looking across a crisp Lake Windermere, wood burner roaring, with great access for walking in the Southern Lakes - made this cottage a good place to stay for a week. That said, the damp in the master bedroom, the stains on some walls, and poor condition of parts of all rooms, made the cottage seem tired and in need of some TLC. This didn’t reflect the outstanding photos and the price - work needs doing to revamp much of the internals before I’d recommend. Can’t fault the location though.
Really enjoyed our stay. perfect location due to us having young children. Lovely cottage very homely. Enjoyed it very much.
We haven't been for 10 years, we use to come every year sometimes twice a year. Stunning location When we first came it had all mod cons and a wow factor, now a little tired in parts. We could never find the shop open.We never meet anyone so cant really give an honest reply to customer service. Our front door badly jammed, you had to really slam it hard to it close - again tried to report it, but shop closed and only saw the cleaners who we mentioned it to. Very much like the idea of booking a swimming slot Didn't like or need the extra fridge/freezer in the lobby area need that for coats...more
We have been staying at the Grubbings (formerly Eel House) for the last ca. 25 years and have always enjoyed our family weekend stays. This year was no exception and the weather was fantastic on one of the days. We enjoyed the up-date of the kitchen, although I put forward one or two suggestions which you may like to take on board. 1 It took all of us on the first night ca. 1h to get the hob to work. It seems to be computer controlled so we discovered that by turning off the electricity and switching the electricity on again, it rebooted and worked-no more problems with it all weekend. 2 T...more
Very comfortable property in lovely location, we rented two houses, Greenhowes and Bibby Lot which are very similar. Properties were warm and well equipped and provisions and firewood were delivered form the as ordered. A lovely base for visiting the area.
Third year now we've spent most of the week in the Lake District and used apartments/cottage with Graithwaite Estates. Location is perfect for us,cottages/apartments always clean and well equipped. It's only a couple of hours from where we live so very easy to get to.
We enjoyed our stay in Cunsey Mill House, and particularly the ready access to Lake Windermere itself.
We had a lovely stay at this cottage and despite a few niggles we are likely to stay again. The location is beautiful and very peaceful with lovely views from the cottage. The housekeeping team do an excellent job, the property was well prepared for us and clean. The towels and bedding were nice quality and the bed comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and new, as is the bathroom, but other areas of the property could do with a little TLC to match. The property has nice private outside space and in my opinion the best one at this location. It is in a good location to tour around the La...more
Third year staying here. Excellent location. The accommodation provides everything you need for your stay. A good pub just down the road called tower bank arms provides excellent food and local beers. Good walking routes to the ferry which takes you to bowness. Will be back again next year
The above cottage was a lovely place to stay and we couldn't find any faults with it apart from there being no plug for the kitchen sink. We did find difficulty finding the cottage and think the directions were a bit confusing and also few sign posts Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bassenthwate. Regards, Roy Young
It was very quiet around the courtyard this year with only a few cottages filled. Jubilee cottage was clean when we arrived and any issues we had were dealt with swiftly. We will be back next year .
Great stay. I would maybe just look into the dampness of the property as a number of us came away poorly.
Ourselves & our 2 dogs really enjoyed our stay at Buttermere cottage. It was excellent value for money. The cottage is well presented and has everything you need. The views from here are just stunning & the dogs enjoyed some of their walks off lead with plenty of fields around that are well fenced. The bed was super comfortable & the location is very peaceful. We would definitely stay here again in the future. Perhaps on the other site for a change of scenery. It made a perfect base for relaxing, walking & exploring the lakes.
Great location if you enjoy peace & quiet & just a little bit away from it all - our 2 nd stay with graythwaite estates and we’d recommend and visit again
This property is ideal for those attending a wedding at Silverholme Manor. However there were a couple of points which need addressing to further enhance the experience. The fridge small freezer door is missing which leads to the fridge leaking water onto the floor constantly. The shower is showing signs of age and needs the sealant renewing to eliminate the black mould marks.
This was a good location for exploring the Lake District - in a small village on the west side of Windermere Lake, very easy to access key sites. Comfortable place to call your temporary home. Soundproofing is not great - could hear our upstairs neighbours- but not too distracting. Beds were very comfortable but double bed was smaller than what were are use to. Very minor amount of mould / damp in bathroom/ bedroom. Kitchen generally well stocked but pot pan lids were missing and would be good to have bigger bowls (deeper bowls for pasta / cereal). WiFi worked well which was helpfu...more
A larger cottage for up to 7 guests, well located close to a gate with lovely walks from the door. A car is best for getting around. A lovely spot and a very comfortable, charming cottage. You can walk down to Windermere Lake and Silverholme easily from this cottage.
