Silverholme Manor is the only eco-friendly Manor house in the country, perched on the shores of Lake Windermere.

Our second stay at Silverholme and it was as magical as the first. We have stayed in the heat of the Summer and in the frost of the winter and both have been completely difference experiences. We have had the best of both, BBQs and days on the lake and frosty walks, Dinners in the dinning room with a roaring fires and games.

Can't wait for our next stay

We have stayed at Silverholme many times now and absolutely love it. There are always the same group of people we come with and we really do have the best time. There is plenty of space for everyone to either hang out in different rooms or all get together in the cosy room with the real fire to play Chase the Ace or Bingo. The view is amazing any looks lovely whatever the season.Would highly recommend it.

We spent a long weekend with all the family at the wonderful Silverholme Manor. Eighteen adults and 2 children had a fabulous time at this amazing house. The location could not be better, overlooking the lake and fells in the distance, with its own private pathway down to the waters edge.
The house has all the facilities you could need, the kitchen and dining area, with full length glass French doors overlooking the lake is indeed a bonus. Even though we went in November we were still able to use the firepit and barbecue facilities on the rear patio overlooking the lake and under a starry sky.
All the bedrooms are very well appointed and are beautifully decorated in a period finish, with each having its own en-suite bathroom.
Vanessa, who manages the property, could not do enough for us, always very prompt to answer any questions that we had before we arrived and was there to make sure everything was perfect for us when we arrived.
I would recommend a stay to anyone, at any time of the year.

Wow wow wow!!! We had a magnificent weekend celebrating our wedding at Silverholme Manor for 150 guests. We used every inch of the stunning venue and really made the most of the panoramic views of the lake and the estate. The bedrooms are gorgeous and the living spaces feel like a stately home, we really felt like king and queen for the weekend! We loved the fact we could take over the property for the weekend and have complete control and freedom. It was made even better by the fact there’s no charge for corkage which is very rare for a wedding venue. Vanessa and her team could not have been more helpful and she went out of her way to make us feel special. We can’t wait to come back to Graythwaite for our anniversary in years to come and we will always look back on our wedding day with a massive grin!! Thank you!

Once again the staff were outstanding in accommodating us for our last minute three night break. The property was delightful with breathtaking views over Lake Windermere for us to wake up to on a morning.
Outstanding location for beautiful walks, watching wildlife and visiting nearby villages.
We can highly recommend a stay at Graythwaite.

There is no better setting for a wedding in the UK.

Driving down the driveway for the first time convinced us that Silverholme was going to be the venue for our wedding before we even stepped inside, it's a beautiful building in an amazing setting. Then step inside and the interior just blows you away, Silverholme is kept in such beautiful condition with jaw dropping rooms.

Vanessa and the Greythwaite team are very attentive and responsive to questions and nothing seems too much trouble.

Highly, highly recommended.

We were blown away with Silverholme Manor. The perfect venue for an our perfect wedding. Vanessa who runs the estate couldnt have been more helpful and was always quick to respond to any question. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, all our guests said it was the best venue they had ever been to. There is everything you could possibly need and they have literally thought of everything, including a brilliant sound system. The scenery is beautiful and we loved starting each day with a view across the lake. We loved every second and fully intend on visiting again.

We held our dream wedding at Silverholme Manor. On our first visit we knew it was the place for us, as you take the driveway down to the house you are met by the most amazing views which are quite literally breathtaking. The wedding was 18 months in the planning from booking to the actual day. Nothing was too much trouble for Vanessa who was absolutely amazing from start to finish, providing us with lists of local suppliers, allowing us the freedom to have things the way we wanted them and always picking up the phone or responding to emails quickly and efficiently. The beauty of Silverholme is that you can leave it as it is and still be blown away or dress it up to your hearts desire.. the flexibility of a house that is your home for a week as well as your wedding venue, without having lots of hotel staff around was unique, however if we needed anything Vanessa and her team were there in a flash. Silverhome is truly stunning, it has the beauty of a romantic period set along with all of the modern day comforts we have come to expect. The whole week went without a hitch and I loved being lady of the manor even for a short while. I can't recommend Silverholme enough and when we have the occasion we will be returning. Thanks Vanessa and the rest of the Graythwaite Team.

Vanessa, the office manager at Silverholme, is an absolute hero! For our wedding at the Silverholme Manor, the tent provider (All About ME Marquees) I chose (going against Vanessa's recommendation) neglected to do a site visit until 72 hours before the wedding. This resulted in very serious and major last-minute issues. Instead of throwing their hands in the air and complaining, Vanessa and her team tried to come up with alternative solutions, all of which she communicated to us in a succinct and timely fashion. What could have been an absolute nightmare turned out to be a beautiful event. This is because Vanessa is a true professional who went beyond her roles and responsibilities to make sure everything ran smoothly. She is also the loveliest human being, always with a positive attitude and very invested in everyone having a great time. From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much! PS. The location is heavenly and the venue is gorgeous :)

The most incredible place to get married. Surrounded by family and friends in fabulous grounds and the most impressive house, which accommodated the wedding party.

The venue meant we could host events on Friday and Sunday as well as the ‘big day’. Some awesome preferred suppliers who made the event so very special. Would absolutely recommend.

We came to Graythwaite Estate on a Corporate Away Day and I stayed at Silverholme. The location is incredible, it is surrounded by wildlife, the views are beautiful and Silverholme is right on the Lake. It is remote, but the facilities in Silverholme were absolutely brilliant and there are shops on the estate to cater for any emergency needs. Claire and Vanessa went out of their way to ensure that the event was a success and it was a pleasure to work with them as the organisers of an event. They spent so much time on ensuring all of the details were taken care of. We have received amazing feedback from our team of 75+ colleagues who had an amazing time and were blown away by the setting. Silverholme itself is stunning, all of the rooms were immactulate and everything was in an exceptional condition. The reception areas were very impressive and the kitchen was amazing, a really high standard and it has everything you could possibly need in terms of appliances. There is aboslutely nothing that has not been thought of, it is a really special venue. I cannot recommend it enough, whether you are visiting for a holiday, a corporate event or a wedding, this offers everything you might need.

The entire process of booking and arranging our stay at Silverholme was made incredibly easy and efficient with the help of Vanessa and her team. Every question was answered promptly and helpfully. The property is stunning in a unrivalled location. You really feel like you can get away from it all while staying at the Manor.

Seventh year running, our breaks at “The Big House” with our ever increasing family are the highlight of our year.

We had a most memorable and highly enjoyable three night stay in this beautiful and spacious property with breath-taking views over Lake Windermere from the magnificence of the lawns. We will miss waking up to the pheasants, sheep and baby rabbits happily inhabiting those lawns. Barbara's father had been born and grew up at Silverholme so there was a special family connection there and she remembered the house from 60 plus years ago.

We were a family party of 12, plus a toddler, and felt privileged to luxuriate in the privacy of this exceptional home, together with its nearby Coachman's Cottage, with all its lovely decor, furniture and artefacts. Everything had been beautifully and thoughtfully prepared for our arrival.

An exceptional programme of activities organised by Graythwaite Adventure was tremendous fun. ( A privately hired chef was a great bonus too).

Many thanks to the excellent Vanessa Hanka and her team for arranging everything to the highest standard. I would add only that an ice making machine actually in the superbly equipped kitchen would be helpful. We will return.

Silverholme Manor was absolutely gorgeous! Vanessa was a huge help - prompt replies and on-call if we had any questions before/on our wedding day. We had a gorgeous sunny weekend and the views were incredible. There were people setting up Friday making sure the lawn was perfect before the big day.

Kitchen was huge and could easily fit everyone. Very spacious and the huge sliding door was great. Rooms were all gorgeous and very comfortable. Lovely walk down to the lake for a morning dip. The BBQ was also very nice, which we used on Sunday!

The only downside was that there were no cleaning supplies. The dishes had to be washed before check out (there were dishwashers) but no sponges for everyone to help. We managed to find 1 small sponge in the couch house. There were also no backup supply of toilet paper/ bin bags which we ran out of - I wasn’t aware we had to bring our own supplies!

Other than that, the entire stay exceeded my expectations! Breathtaking views and gorgeous house.

What a magical place! We chose this venue because of its proximity to Windermere, but what we got was so much more. This venue is amazing, its like staying in a family home, and provides a feeling of being instant welcomed. It meets all the needs of various family members and provided us with easy access to the lake when we needed a day of recovery after our celebration. Honestly, it was everything we needed and more.

We hired Silverholme and the nearby Hullet Hall for a long weekend to celebrate my 60th with family and friends. It was awesome. The views from the house are spectacular and all the rooms very comfortable. The kitchen accommodated 24 of us and there was plenty of pantry storage and fridge storage for food. Vanessa looked after us well and responded quickly to a couple of maintenance requests while we were there. We held a dinner on the Saturday evening in the coach house opposite the manor and brought in a chef for the occasion who is now based in Kendal who was absolutely brilliant and is now on the Graythwaite approved list! Graythwaite Adventures provided some great activities for the party on the Friday and Saturday morning which were well organised and led by a lovely team of instructors. All in all a fabulous weekend that will live long in the memory for everyone who was there, very very special.

We had a family reunion at Silverholme recently. It was simply wonderful - the location is fantastic and the house is a great venue for a large group...so much space inside and out and all fitted out in a considered and tasteful way. The booking process and support from the team at Graythwaite was first class and we had a brilliant stay.

We hosted a 'Luxury Yoga & Manifestation Retreat' at Silverholme in February and wow, it was definitely Luxury!

From start to finish Georgia, Alex and the rest of the estates team were on hand to seamlessly answer any questions, and provide lots of help!
The house itself was immaculately clean, incredibly comfortable and the perfect location for a yoga retreat - calming, grand but intimate, beautifully finished, with a gorgeous 'yoga shala' space with surround sound (which you could play music from in different locations around the house and outer buildings!). The kitchen was very well equipped with 2 dishwashers and a double oven - our chef said it was the best kitchen she'd cooked in!

The views can't be beaten, and Alex helped with putting us in touch with a local hot tub company and dealt with the setup of that so that it was ready to step into as soon as we arrived!

The grounds and walks around are perfect too, and our guests enjoyed the swimming pool which we booked out time slots at for them!

Thank you so much, we miss it already and can't wait to be back!

I booked Silverholme for my husbands surprise 50th birthday celebration and from the point of booking to the time we left everything was perfect. Communication from Georgia was friendly and really helpful…. Nothing was too much trouble.
Silverholme is a really beauty but not pretentious in anyway. It was extremely welcoming for all ages, with quiet areas, lots of games for inside and outside. The decor is fabulous and the kitchen is the real hub of the place with everything to make your stay as easy as pie.
We did not venture out further than the Graythwaite estate during our weekend, making use of the lovely walks, farm shop & swimming pool.
The views are spectacular of Winderemere and we would revisit Silverholme in a heartbeat!

The views are stunning. It is surrounded by Graythwaite estate woodland, which afford pleasant walks.
The house is furnished to a high standard in traditional and comfortable style apart from a modern kitchen with full array of appliances.

Silverholme has become our home from home for an annual family gathering. All the bedrooms and en-suites in the main house are lovely and spacious - no guest is going to feel that they drew the short straw!

Lovely location with access to the shore via a short track.

Can also recommend Graythwaite Adventure for organising land-based activities or watersports.

I think the title says it all, an absolutely superb property in a stunning location, provides everything we need for a family break each year, as far as we are concerned it could not be improved upon. Adults and kids alike all look upon the "Big House" as our home from home.
