I can absolutely recommend this property. It's a huge house that has certainly enough space for up to 16 people, we were 14 and had a perfect stay. Two lounge areas with fire places, a huge kitchen that is fully equipped and a large dining area totally fitted our needs. Barbara and Charly, the owners and caretakers, are always there to help if necessary and I can totally recommend staying at their place. 20-25 driving minutes outside of Galway and at the entrance of Connemara, this is the perfect location for bigger groups to come together and enjoy the Irish hospitality! And even tough the ...more
We had the best time in the cottage. Its a great place, amazing location, wonderful views. The cottage is well equipped and lovely decorated. Host was very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend that place!
Beautiful house with a homely feel. Directions to get there were perfect. Fire was lit when we came in the door. The house was clean and comfortable with lovely view.
This was a beautiful home. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you could need. The bedrooms were a good size with comfortable beds and spotlessly clean. One thing to mention is that there are no curtains in any of the windows which is wonderful in the living areas. However although you are not overlooked the bedrooms don't have curtains either so if you like a dark room and don't want to be wakened when the sun rises this could be an issue. The owners did have eye masks for use. The living areas are amazing with the most wonderful views and very comfortable sofas to lounge in....more
Perfect for our 2 families. Could not have asked for a better place to stay. Lots of space, excellent amenities and close to Galway. I can recommend the cottage.
The O'Malley's cottage is magical. The most beautiful possible setting imaginable, overlooking the Cleggan harbor, and surrounded by heathered fields, this is a clean, comfortable, and luxurious house. Our caretaker Mary was so helpful. Our group of five adults used the cottage as a departure point for hiking and biking and it was great to return to such a pleasant and warm home at the end of the day. Cleggan is a sweet town with great restaurants and pubs; for fresh fish, seek out the local fisherman for same day catch (ask at the grocery store). Thank you for a great stay!
We ( 1 couple 1 single) stayed in this delightful cottage for 9 days at the beginning of September 2016. It is as described on the website and in the pictures, fully equipped, 3 en-suite bedrooms, eat-in kitchen, homely, cosy, and with beautiful sea views. Josephine, the owner, had placed fresh flowers and a bottle of wine to greet us on our arrival, and was extremely helpful. The cottage is on the famous Sky Road and a few minutes walk brings you to some magnificent views. In the other direction, the buzzing little town of Clifden, with its impressive collection of shops, restaurants and pu...more
Beautiful location, great Cottage, kind owners direcly next door. All the things you must see in Conemara are max 45 - 50 minutes drive away. A really stunning place! Roundstone offers all you need, from petrol, little grocery store to pubs. Don't miss oysters and Guinnes at O'Dowd's.
Amazing place to stay for a quite getaway in the wilds on Connemara. Beautiful scenery and landscapes. The house itself is neat and tidy, WiFi is pretty good. For us the only thing we would change is poor a bigger bed in the main bedroom and get a stronger shower.
Very spacious beautifully presented cottage located at the end of a country road in Connemara. The views were breathtaking. Large dining/conservatory room with windows and doors letting in lots of light and views across the fields to the wild Atlantic Ocean. Close to lots of activities, walking, visiting historic sights and day trips by ferry to the beautiful islands of Clare and Inishturk. Wonderful owners keen to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
Excellent stay-very spacious house.Bottle of wine and milk left from host - nice touch. Fab location very close to village. Will be back again
We stayed at this cottage over the New Year period, there was six of us, 4 adults 2 kids (age 2 & 7). The owner met us locally, took us to cottage & showed us around facility's. The cottage was very clean & very good sized rooms, living area & kitchen, plenty of room for all. Fantastic sea views & only 5 min drive to Tully cross. Would definitely recommend this cottage & when planning next trip would preferable stay here if available.
We had a very nice stay. The house was very nice and confortable, the owner woman was very friendly. The next time we will be more time. Thank you very much
We spent 4 days in this magnificent apartment. Clean, spacious, with quality bedding, close to the pubs and places of visit. We thank the owner and Love Connemara for the quality service and we will recommend to our friends to reserve with you! Good bye from France!
We are a motorcycle group 15 in total. We spent a fantastic week at this house.Very comfortable, clean and well placed. The owners were not in site, but very easy to contact in the local pub.Keoghs.....The pub ws amazing with fantastic food...the local shop had everything you could want..I would have no problem recommending this house to anyone...stunning !
Had a lovely relaxing stay at this beautiful cottage. Great location with short walk to soft sandy beach. Kids loved the horses and donkeys in the fields beside the cottage. Not a long drive to nearby Clifden - which is a lovely town. Great holiday had by all - highly recommend!
The house was rented for a group of visiting friends and it really exceeded my expectations. The location is unbelieveable and the size and condition of the house really more than we were expecting. The online pictures don't do it justice, everything was just fantastic.
Very impressed with the cottage, suitable especially for those who love quiet, being close to nature and enjoy amazing views! You need a car but it’s close (ca. 20 min) to all attractions (I.e. Roundstone, Dog’s Bay, Connemara National Park or Clifden). Eamon is always very helpful and full of stories about the place. Highly recommend! We will be back!
Suggestions : - a little bit more light in the bathrooms, especially on the mirror - german Sat-TV
We stayed at Gannough's for 3 nights and would love to stay again. We loved how quiet it was, how we could sit looking out of the window staring at the beautiful coastline for hours. The house is clearly well-loved and cared for, we enjoyed the personal feel it had. The kitchen had all the utensils you needed, gas cooker and was clean. The bathrooms are simple but do the job well. Bed linen was clean and good quality. We would definitely recommend this to others and hope to come again.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is fantastic, right across the rd from the beach and a stone's throw from Ballyconneelly and other amazing beaches. Mary was really helpful and welcoming and even had the fire lit for us on arrival! The ESB rate was reasonable and the house had everything we needed for a family holiday. Would recommend
Maison très agréable et confortable...belles vues! Supers vacances....nous avons pas vu le propriétaire il est venu vérifier le chauffage qui sentait un peu
Very clean and modern. Excellent base for us. Like home from home. Will definitely return. The village is amazing and the views of the killery are amazing.
The lady looking after this property was great, looked after all our needs, She had the house spotless clean, Everything we needed for the three nights was in the house. Two minuets drive into Clifden. Shop and a Pub on site, Loads of green area safe for children and dogs to run and play, We will be coming back for a longer stay next time,
Nice clean cottage, at first day we had some problem sto find it, but then it was great. Superb equipped house, beautiful location in the middle of a astonishing valley with a great Lake, ideal for trips around to Connemara
We enjoyed the space and comfort of this cottage. Outside space was enhanced by the outdoor furniture as we were lucky enough to get good weather and took full advantage. The location is perfect, within walking distance of town. The driveway up to the house is a bit steep but manageable. The views are lovely and surrounding walks up by the river are a must. I will definitely book this house again, it was perfect for out needs. We were 3 couples, 1 single and a 3 year old.
We, a family of 5 (kids age 16, 20, 22), had a wonderful week at this cottage. It's probably the most beautiful place in Connemara. The view is fantastic and the architecture of the house as well. From the house we even saw wonderful rainbows. Communicating with the owner was really easy and nice. A lot of brochures were provided. Three sandy beaches are close by. We found everything we needed, a true home away from home. The "kids" were really happy about the trampoline.
Dear Kathleen. thank you for letting us stay at your house. We really enjoyed our holiday. The house is very comfortable and brilliant for wheelchair users like myself. We very much enjoyed spending time in the lounge looking out of that wonderful window onto the view of the Kilary fyord. We also enjoyed being in the village. We spent some good nights in the local pub and also at the restaurant. Hope to see you again sometime in the future. Josh
Lovely place to stay , second year in a row staying there , Lorna is lovely ,might see you again next year
What a beautiful spot for a cottage, nestling on a stunning lake in the beautiful Connemara countryside. The cottage was clean and had everything we needed. Was lovely and warm with a open fire. Will be coming again.
We stayed in Carna just a two nights as we had to leave earlier to drive to airport The place was clean and spacious quiet too! I loved listening to the wind Plenty of parking Mary and her family are lovely hosts I wish we could had stayed longer so I could had visited the area more!
Great place. 2 things for the next time; 1; definitely should be turf or briquettes for new arrivals. enough to make one fire as often folk arrive late. 2; dishwasher broke down, but not really serious, these things happen. 3; storage heaters always a pain and horribly expensive as I don't believe a soul on earth has any idea how they actually work!!!! essentially a brilliant house, a brilliant place and we are moving in! Best wishes Paki
The week we spent in this cottage on Inishnee was the most peaceful ever. It really had everything going for it. Not too close and not too far from Roundstone, which is a lovely picturesque village. The island itself has ample walking and views. The fact that the Galway->Cliften bus will stop at the causeway for the island is great too. After only three days of our one week holiday my wife stated, "next year, we'll come back and stay two weeks".
Stayed for 4 nights in October Very comfortable, well thought out living space. Lovely wee terrace and excellent views Well situated within the village and the village itself being well placed in Connemara for nearby and further afield activities. Worth climbing the hill behind and cycling to clifden. allthingsconnemara were very good on information and ticket booking, so we hired bikes there. Would also mention Frank Acton Garage in Clifden. Were brilliant when we had brake trouble. They fixed the brakes and helped us ensure it did not spoil the holiday Pubs and restaurants in Roundsto...more
We spent a splendid week in this lovely cottage, very cosy and nicely decorated. It is really well situated to visit this incredible part of Ireland. The view from the house is wonderfull. + Thanks to Sheila for her very warm welcome.
We have appreciated all many our stay. The sea view, small fishing port, lobsters and products of the sea, the beauty of the landscape, peaceful life, and the small dogs scroungers, who made the beautiful .. and of course inescapable sheeps in the middle of the peat and the flowery roads .. We like Conemara .. and Ireland generally It has been 2 years since we go there .
Notre séjour dans ce charmant cottage était parfait. Tranquillité, confort, et très bien situé, à mi-chemin entre Galway et Cliffden. La propriétaire nous a réservé un très bon accueil.
The house is situated in the centre of Clifden. When we arrived the house was not very clean. Stains on the carpet. The couch was dirty. Windows dirty. There were even little black worms in one of the bedrooms! The frying pans were damaged!
The cottage was clean and tidy with all the facilities we needed. John the host checked in to have a friendly chat and ensure we had all we needed. He then left us alone to make the most of our time in this special place. It is in a beautiful quiet setting beside the Killary fiord and well removed from other buildings. It's location enabled us to explore the west coast of Ireland from Galway to Westport with Clifton and the Connemara National Park only a short drive away. Thank you Ireland and thank you John.
we have stayed here many times before,to attend the Connemara pony festival.Ideal location for us and we have made many friends in the area.
A great place to stay in Ireland. Wonderful view. The best cottage to stay with your friends or your family.
Excellent location. Property very clean and comfortable. Disappointed that walls very thin and could clearly hear the neighbors next door. No wifi.
We had a great holiday in this house over Christmas week - the house was very cosy with a lovely fire, well stocked kitchen (important at Christmas) and great location between Sweeney's and Clifden! Lots of beach walks even in winter!
A comfortable stay in an unforgettable location. Lough Fee is as remote as it gets in Connemara and provides easy access to both the Twelve Bens and Maumturks mountains. Glassilaun is a very short drive away - a very atmospheric beach!
1. the immersion switch setting for Bath does not work... so to get hot water you have to set it to Sink. 2. the frying pans are in very poor state and, I would say, probably represent a health risk. 3. the steps leading to the property are a bit dangerous when it's raining. 4. the person who showed me the place (Siobhan) would not win any prizes for customer service
Cottage was in good shape, and Bridget the caretaker was extremely helpful. There was an issue with the water not being reliably available between 11-3 during the day, but apparently this was a local issue (due to tourist influx in August) and not specific to the house. Ballyconneely is a great part of Connemara, wild with beautiful beaches and bog.
I would give it 10 form 10 and strongly recommend! House is massive, warm, clean you get there everything you need in there and the owner is great guy! SUPERB place
it's a very nice house with a very beautiful view on the sea from the bedroom and the livingroom. Very quiet.Super
Great service from the team. Really enjoyable stay. Location was perfect and the house was very comfortable. Would recommend.
Stayed in the cottage for Easter 2018 with 6 adults and our dogs. The cottage is very dog-friendly with tiled floors throughout. Bedrooms were comfortable and there was plenty of fuel for the wood burning stove. No need to bring towels as there is a very well stocked linen cupboard in the lounge. We spent our days walking the dogs on nearby Dogs Bay and Gurteen Beach, followed by lunches in the lovely pubs of Roundstone, which is only a 5 minute drive from the cottage. There’s a well equipped kitchen in the cottage that we appreciated as we stayed in during the evenings. Views from the cottag...more
