Mannin Lodge in the village of Ballyconneely on Connemara, County Galway in Ireland provided the perfect home port for our trip to Ireland with our family (nine of us in all!). The house can certainly accommodate more people too!

The five generous rooms each had its own bathroom, the kitchen was large with all the amenities needed, and we could choose from two dining areas.

We were within walking distance of a hotel, restaurant, bar and….. best of all a beach! The restaurant was fantastic with beautifully prepared food.

Other beaches were a short drive away and all of them were stunningly beautiful! The little village of Ballyconneely was a longish walk or short drive away and has a grocery store, gas, church, wonderful pub and events….. like a sweet craft fair on Sunday!

Another adorable village, Roundstone, is a few kilometers away and has more restaurants and events. Plus, you pass more beaches along the way. Ballylahinch is a beautiful drive away and boasts a fantastic garden, five star hotel, restaurant and pub. Kylemore is a longer drive away (45 minutes?) and absolutely worth the visit. Its history is so interesting and the gardens and abbey are gorgeous. We golfed at the very nearby Connemara Links Course and went on a Connemara pony trek.

While this part of Connemara can seem off the beaten path, and we were certainly rural, we had everything we needed and could easily get to Clifden, Oughterard (sp?) and Galway.

We ventured to Galway to join a tour to the Aran Island of Inisheer and the cliffs of Moher. It was a long day but absolutely worth it and my six and eight year old granddaughters did very well as activities changed frequently and the bus ride was not too long!

The host of the property lives there and was incredibly responsive to any needs. Otherwise, I would not have known they were next door.

We had a marvelous, relaxed, exploratory, and fabulous time. Mannin Lodge was a perfect home base.

Had another great holiday. The weather was much better this year. I went with 3daughters 7 grandchildren and two sons in law made flying visits! Bernie and sean could have been better hosts. It was no problem having them on site in fact it was handy when you needed something Thanks Bernie and Sean

We are a family of eleven who stayed at this property for a week in early July. We were blessed with fabulous weather. We were met by the very friendly and helpful Bernie. We had a great stay. The house was very well equipped with everything we required. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious with t.v in every room. There was probably too much furniture downstairs which made the house feel a bit cramped. There was plenty of parking out the back which was great as we had four cars, a boat and bicycles. There is a super bbq at the front with plenty of benches and chairs for outside dining. The house is in a fantastic location, a few minutes walk from the beach, village, shops, pub/restaurant and a hotel and lovely walks and cycles in every direction. A great time had by all.

We were a group with children over Easter. It was the perfect place for us, Bernie (the owner) couldn’t have been more helpful or accommodating to us. The location is absolutely perfect too, local to a great hotel, gorgeous bar that does great food and the most stunning beaches you’ll ever see. Highly recommend.

Ballyconneely is a lovely location for a holiday. Beaches, scenery, activities on the sea, proximity to Clifden and its excellent restaurants a bonus. The house was comfortable, clean and spacious.
