It would be difficult to find a better apartment anywhere. In addition, the location is excellent and as comfortable as one would wish, and fully equipped, with lovely owners living adjacent to the apartment. West Burton is also one of the prettiest villages in England, never mind the Dales village, with a good local pub serving good quality and hearty food.
Barton View Cottage is located in the centre of the village so ideally located for the shop, the butchers and the pub. The cottage itself is very cosy, comfortable, clean and quiet - the coal fire is a real bonus and there are plenty of books to read. Stunning walks right from your doorstep so no need to use the car every day, if at all - a walker's paradise. The owners are very friendly and helpful and live just behind the cottage. Country Hideaways also provide a first class service. We are looking forward to our next visit!
A lovely warm welcome from the owners. Everything you need in the cottage. Excellent facilities and constant hot water. Very clean and comfortable.
We have just spent a lovely week at Holly Tree Cottage, which we found to be spotlessly clean and tidy with everything needed for a perfect holiday in The Yorkshire Dales. It is ideally situated for both touring the surrounding area in the car or making use of the local bus service that passes through the village, to reach the nearby towns of Richmond and Ripon. Some great walks were also available direct from property and the reward of a superb real ale pub only half a mile away made this a very tempting alternative. East Witton is a very beautiful place and one we will be returning too in th...more
Very comfortable and well equipped cottage in a very beautiful landscape. Good contact with the owner
Lovely week staying at Badger's Holt. Very warm welcome on arrival. Very clean and worth 5 stars not 4.
Beck side cottage is absolutely outstanding. My wife and I have been coming to the Yorkshire Dales for many years and stayed in various holiday cottages, but this is the best one yet.
My husband and I stayed at Forge cottage for 4 night's. Cottage was clean and comfortable, and very spacious for 2 adults. Kitchen had everything we needed, the lounge was very roomy, and the sofas very comfortable. It was great to have milk/tea/coffee etc on arrival, as well as local beer and chocolates. Having the en-suite upstairs was great. The bed was comfy, with good quality bedding. Toiletry sets were handy too. The courtyard, although small, was a lovely spot for morning coffee. Parking was never an issue as plenty of spaces to park, either on the road, or in the free car pa...more
A stunning view, a nice, clean cosy well equipped cottage, fantastic walks, good hosts AND complimentary cheese & wine. It's a little piece of heaven and I will definitely be returning next year. 100% recommend.
Such a beautiful house in a stunning village - the best village that we have seen in the Dales. We will be back!!
Lovely cottage with great veiws. Very clean and tidy and dog friendly. Has everything thing I needed for the week.
Clean, comfortable and full of character. We have been several times over the years and have never been disappointed.
Lion Cottage is excellently located, in the heart of the Dales. It is very cosy and comfortable, providing a perfect base for hiking and exploring the area. We'd came back for more anytime!
This must be at least the sixth time we have stayed at Magnolia cottage in Masham. The owners Neil and Becky are always very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The cottage is perfectly located and has everything we need for a relaxing and comfortable stay in Masham. Masham has so much to offer! We will certainly be planning another visit very soon.
Really enjoyed our week here, everything looked lovely on arrival, Val had left a plate of delicious buns and biscuits and milk in the fridge, which we really appreciated. Cottage had everything we could possibly need and is in a lovely countryside position, perfect for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. We hope to visit again
The journey their was long (probably a cheap flight to Leeds is easier). The Rookery location can be misleading from Google and feel longer to get to and it’s 20 minutes from co-op in leyburn. Tip: arrange grocery delivery on the day or next. WiFi is terrible and works if you are close to the router and not many are connected. Tip: bring an extender. Pay phone is your only way to call unless you have Wi-Fi and messaging app. Bedbugs or spider bites, not sure but leave all good in the fridge provided as there are small flies. Lots of countryside and great for early morning walk or e...more
Spacious and well equipped. South sitting room attractive with its pitch pine ceiling in the morning sunlight, and the back sitting room warm and attractive views over the dale to the north North. Lovely garden to the rear with plenty of seating. Good collection of books.
We have been coming here for several years and have never been disappointed. The location is great, parking a bonus and the property itself has everything you could need. It is spacious and comfortable with beautiful views from every window. Lots of walks and places to visit in the local area. Plenty of places to eat and drink. Local shops and Tuesday market means it is also easy to cook at the flat. People very friendly and welcoming.
The apartment is excellent - incredibly clean, a great location right next to the waterfall, and it has everything you need for a great stay. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom very functional and clean, and there is a really nice small patio area at the front of the property. West Burton itself is a picture postcard village and a great base for walks of varying difficulties. We had some superb weather and enjoyed our stay. Would definitely return, and would recommend Country Hideaways.
Jo and Nadine at Country Hideaways were very helpful and flexible in sorting out a week in this delightful cottage. Not our first visit to the Dales or this cottage, just love the area and the comfortable cottage. It certainly won’t be our last visit either!
Very comfortable cottage in a nice village. Good shop and pub, Tea room has great cake which you can take away or eat in Fri, Sat & Sun. Waterfall is very close and you can pop down for a relaxing swim if you are brave enough.
Briar Cottage is a lovely relaxing place to stay. The cottage is clearly much loved and has been well looked after. Great facilities, very spacious for the two of us , ideally located on a street leading up from the centre of Middleham. Parking was straightforward immediately outside the cottage. there were several great walks directly from the cottage , down towards Coverdale and East Witton or up towards Penhill Beacon. Middleham is a great centre with its historic castle and it is a thriving centre for racehorse training. The village has a general store, tea room , two pubs and a hotel/ res...more
Overall the property was really good but a couple of things, albeit superficial, could improve it. There were only 2 chairs in the garden, rather than 4 which would have been nice. There was a bench but this was rather rotten and dirty, as was the outdoor washing line. The shower itself was great but the grouting,/silicone was awful, meaning that the whole bathroom looked a bit shabby. Finally at the end of the drive, where the bins were, there was quite a bit of rubbish lying around. This was the first impression of the property and it could easily be tidied up. All sounds like a moan but giv...more
Superb area to stay, lovely village with decent pub and walks from the door.Reverse layout with bedrooms downstairs gives a lighter feel to the house given it is completely surrounded by other buildings. As advertised, there is a parking space but very tight, reduced further by the need to leave space for neighbours behind to access the alley. Those with anything larger than small hatchbacks will find it necessary to park on the road around the village green. The house was spotlessly clean and very well equipped with a good set of useful pans, which can be a rarity in holiday accommodation....more
We really enjoyed our break at Warren Barn. Lovely peaceful location &Scenery, views from Barn beautiful . Inside of Barn had been very well thought out, everything you needed was there, furniture & bed very comfortable. Neighbours were very polite & friendly. We will certainly visit again. Well done Country Hideaways.
Comfortable cottage providing all you require for a holiday in this beautiful part of Yorkshire. Tuesday’s fish and chip van a must!
I have very much enjoyed my stay at Holt Barn. It is well appointed with everything you could possibly need provided. I found the bed mattress to be uncomfortable, that may just be a personal choice but I suspect it’s getting a bit old. The major downside was that the road from Kirby Malzeard was closed for most of my stay. Getting through to Holt Barn involved an 8 mile detour on single lane roads, high hedges and infrequent passing places. Given mobile phone signal is poor I relied on my my car satnav which barely got me around. A local map would have been most useful. I realise not ev...more
