It would be difficult to find a better apartment anywhere. In addition, the location is excellent and as comfortable as one would wish, and fully equipped, with lovely owners living adjacent to the apartment. West Burton is also one of the prettiest villages in England, never mind the Dales village, with a good local pub serving good quality and hearty food.
Our third visit to this cottage and won't be the last! It's a very comfortable cottage and spotlessly clean. The location is perfect...very quiet but not far to local amenities. There are great walks directly from the door. Really can't recommend enough.
We have really enjoyed our week’s stay in Barton Cottage. It is so nice to look out on the village green and the Fox and Hounds. The cottage is beautifully quite and gave us both a break every evening from the grandchildren!!
Great place for 2 people, very comfortable and welcoming. Great situation with a lovely city and walks on your doorstep. Owners very friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Excellent home baking treats and beers on arrival.
Our fourth stay. Love the quiet location with walks straight out of the door. Leyburn is 10/15 minutes for the supermarket. Easy parking straight outside the property which is clean, nicely decorated and comfortable.
Lovely week staying at Badger's Holt. Very warm welcome on arrival. Very clean and worth 5 stars not 4.
Friendly owners. walking distance to village pub, shop, butchers, various local footpaths, Becks & waterfall
Fantastic stay at Hill Top Farm Cottage. We all really did enjoy the views the cottage everything and can not wait to return.
A good place to stay to explore the Dales and York city. Weather was very good only rained at night. The White Bear does great meals.
We love to visit Green Bank. Well equipped, it caters for our family. Lynn and David are kind hosts.
A well-designed small cottage in excellent order and well-equipped. No hazards! Several eating places a few minutes walk away, mainly decent pub food. King's Head restaurant is a cut above the rest. The road outside is generally quiet and the cottage is also quiet with a pleasant secluded back garden with tables and chairs when eating outside is feasible. Parking off-road is easy for a small car.
Clean, comfortable and full of character. We have been several times over the years and have never been disappointed.
We spent a week at School House and have nothing but praise for the accommodation. It was spotlessly clean, warm, nicely furnished and well equipped. The location, too, is excellent with Askrigg being a super village in the heart of the Dales. It is not at all surprising that many of the comments in the guest book are by repeat visitors.
A very comfortable cottage, very clean and well maintained. Lots of space, good heating and excellent wifi. Good views across the countryside and lots of walking and cycling from the door, with Ripon, Pateley Bridge and Masham in easy reach. saw deer, rabbits, hares and a barn owl from the house. A very relaxing stay and great value for money.
This was one of the loveliest cottages we've ever stayed in - certainly not your typical holiday rental. A bottle of wine, home made greeting card from the owner, and vase of daffodils were waiting for us on arrival and made us all feel very welcome. The cottage was tastefully furnished with antique furniture and original art work displayed throughout. On a practical level the kitchen and adjoining utility room had everything we needed to prepare family meals. Even the springtime wet weather couldn't spoil our Easter week away, as we could still gaze out of the living room windows at ...more
We've been coming back to this flat for years - it's just perfect for us (couple who enjoy walking). The owners, Shirley and Steve, have put lots of personal touches (it doesn't feel like a rental, more like someone's special retreat). The beds are really comfy, rooms spacious and elegant, kitchen small but well-equipped, and a lovely deep bath is there for a soak when needed. It's perfectly located - a couple of hundred yards from the centre of town, easy walk to pubs and cafes. Parking spot right outside (off street). Has two bedrooms, would suit two couples. Strongly recommend! Trish...more
we had very good time, good size bedrooms and living rooms, view excellent. Highly recommended. Good value for money
This is our fourth stay at the Old Wheelhouse. It feels like coming home. The flat is cozy and well appointed. The village is lovely and the falls are stunning. We look forward to the next visit.
Jo and Nadine at Country Hideaways were very helpful and flexible in sorting out a week in this delightful cottage. Not our first visit to the Dales or this cottage, just love the area and the comfortable cottage. It certainly won’t be our last visit either!
Lovely cosy cottage, very well appointed with quality furnishings throughout. Great location for country walks from the door and with local shop, pubs, tearoom and restaurant all a short walk away.
Lovely cottage, with all the amenities and facilities needed in a beautiful village. Plenty of local walks, West Burton falls in the village are great. Village pub does nice home made food and fish n chips from the van on a Tuesday evening was most enjoyable. Lots of places to visit in the area. We went to Hawes and walked to Hardrow Force then to the creamery for a delicious meal afterwards. A wide array of cheeses to taste and buy from their shop too. White Scar Caves is worth a visit and a walk at Ribbleshead Viaduct afterwards. Not too far to walk to Aysgarth Falls from the cottag...more
Overall the property was really good but a couple of things, albeit superficial, could improve it. There were only 2 chairs in the garden, rather than 4 which would have been nice. There was a bench but this was rather rotten and dirty, as was the outdoor washing line. The shower itself was great but the grouting,/silicone was awful, meaning that the whole bathroom looked a bit shabby. Finally at the end of the drive, where the bins were, there was quite a bit of rubbish lying around. This was the first impression of the property and it could easily be tidied up. All sounds like a moan but giv...more
We had a wonderful stay at Warren Barn. The view from the extensive windows was a delight every morning - sunrise and weather to set us up for the day. The barn is extremely comfortable with all facilities and well situated if you like quiet and peace, but near enough to visit places like Fountains Abbey, Thornborough cursus and henges if you want archaeology, and many great walks. Overall a brilliant place to stay!
Needless to say, that the scenery of the Dales is in general stunning and we have spent a wonderful time there. The location of the house is really good. Quiet and very close to the magnificent waterfall. Regarding the house itself, It is a bit unusual that the kitchen and the living room are upstairs and the bedrooms are on the ground floor. The only real complaint was that the door knob on the inside of the twin room was loose, so one could only pull the door shut by the coat hooks. It should also be noted that the fridge makes clearly audible noises and the water pressure - especially in...more
Comfortable cottage providing all you require for a holiday in this beautiful part of Yorkshire. Tuesday’s fish and chip van a must!
Lovely spacious barn, had a wonderful time walking and resting. Host very helpful and quick to respond, everything worked well and had everything we needed.
