A fantastic place to stay. Lovely boutique accommodation. Great garden which was very relaxing to sit in. Excellent walks nearby. Very well equipped. A gorgeous treats basket was provided and also treats for the dog, along with dog towels and bowls. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
We're regular visitors to the area and The Old Post Office really worked as a hub for all we wanted to do. It has the added bonuses of being very comfortable and being in the heart of Barbon itself.
We have stayed with Mill House Cottages before so we knew their standards and therefore had very high expectations. Ruskin’s View Cottage exceeded all those expectations! Everything was first class in the cottage including the lovely warm welcome from Neil and Gill. The location is excellent. It’s like staying in a secret corner of Kirkby Lonsdale and yet everything you could want or need is on the doorstep. Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely town and very convenient for exploring Westmorland. Thank you Neil and Gill for helping to make our stay at Ruskin’s View Cottage so perfect. We will be bac...more
A genuine 5* cottage, this was a sympathetic renovation with modern comforts. Gorgeous enclosed front garden for our dogs (and their owners!) with use of a huge paddock, with access to a river for a young Labrador to cool down in - perfect!
Lovely house, spacious ground floor and four large bedrooms, 3 of which have en suit. Large bathroom. Very comfortable beds and all amenities for your comfortable stay. Large Jacuzzi on the back patio which is well lit. to relax in after your day. Would recommend to friends
We absolutely loved every minute of our stay at Howgills Barn. It is a luxurious place to stay with plenty space in a tranquil area where all you hear is the sound of bridsong....perfect! Only a short drive to our favourite market town of Kirkby Lonsdale. Will definitely be coming back here!
We had a wonderful short break at The Cow Shed. It is located in the most amazing spot overlooking a stream and waterfall. Everything in the property was completed to the highest of standards and it was immaculate. We look forward to returning

Pressure of life today is THE RAT RACE where seemingly everything has to be done at 100 miles an hour——come to Mill House Cottages and “break that speed limit” to zero miles per hour. Wake up and go to bed admiring just absolutely stunning views. Perfect location excellent quality of everything pertaining to the actual accommodation and fittings—-we always measure a venue by the availability of hot water—-200% marks, it was instant. The other guests we met briefly also seemed in awe of the location. England has many beautiful places for us yet to visit—-however Mill House Cottages are certain...more
This was my first visit to Mill House Cottage. I have for the last forty years used holiday cottages throughout the UK and can honestly say that Mill House Cottage is one of the best cottages I have ever stayed in. The cleanliness, standard of equipment provided and high level of furniture and fittings on display are exceptional. The owners certainly have a great eye for detail. The rural position of this cottage is fantastic with stunning views of the rolling Cumbrian hills and for walks down quite country lanes where wildlife can be seen in abundance. It’s location is ideal for visiting the ...more
Property in good location and lovely hamper on arrival unfortunately property could do with a bit of TLC used towels left in washer ripped pillow slip on bed vents on bedroom patios doors stuff with paper and handle missing off draw in room and property is showing signs of wear tear did not spoil our holiday but when paying for 5 star luxury expect things to be perfect
Excellent. Would definitely stay again. Facilities and content of kitchen excellent. Would recommend any time of year
A few more kitchen utensils would have helped, such as small mixing bowls, whisk, measuring jug, and round bowl suitable for microwave. More crockery needed to make using the dishwasher worthwhile. Removal of the 'bar stools' would have provided a little more kitchen space, while still leaving 4 kitchen chairs. A convenient position on the edge of Sedbergh making walking into the town and countryside easy. Bed fairly firm with spacious bedrooms with good storage. Irritating central light shade in the lower bedroom perfectly positioned to hit your head on! Overall, a good base for a h...more
This dog friendly well equipped cottage is situated in the centre of this beautiful little town. All the bars and restaurants are all nearby. Great walks nearby in this peaceful picturesque area
Location was very nice - but a single track route meant a slight panic every time as there were no passing places and was difficult to reserve not for nervous drivers . Although do friendly it would have been better if the patio area had a fence arround it as there were no secure areas you could let your dog out , given the amount of sheep in the area this was an issue .
Great place with excellent manager, Sophie and her husband Fred. No hesitation to suggest this place to other friends.
The Paddock was a lovely comfortable cottage in a quiet location. The cottage was very clean and was ideal base for exploring the lakes and surrounding countryside. The cottage had everything you need and more. It has a lovely shower and fabulous bath. With its south facing garden it was a lovely place to relax after a busy day of exploring the area. Only wish I had booked it for longer!
Skye Fall is first class. The views from every window are spectacular and the beach is a stunning spot to enjoy a picnic. We would most certainly recommend and plan to return in 2020. Thank you Stephen and Julie for providing the perfect holiday location
