Great location, great accommodation, great amenities… hard to beat this if you’re looking for an easily-reached middle-of-the-country option for a large group. We had 16 adults and 5 small children and we were fully accommodated by the wonderful hosts. When you’re this close to a pub, farm play park, walks literally out of your door, Oxenholme station and the M6 there’s little more you could ask for.
We have visited this area on numerous occasions over the years but this is the best cottage we have stayed in. It is immaculately clean and beautifully furnished, it really deserves its 5 stars. The welcome hamper is amazing, everything you need for a perfect stay is provided. We loved it so much we have already booked our next stay.
We would definitely recommend Box Tree cottage as a holiday destination. Everything about the cottage was beautiful, the interior downstairs was very comfortable, upstairs was equally so, the bathroom amazing! The front garden was typically country, colourful and relaxing. The rear garden was huge and perfect for Holly the retriever. It was amazing watching the rabbits early morning from the kitchen window! We met Peter after a couple of days and really enjoyed his company. Easy to talk to and so accommodating- definitely recommend.
Great communication from Laura and the New Thornber team. The house was, if anything, better than described and was beautiful also the welcome pack and fresh flowers were a lovely touch and much appreciated. We really couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay.

Lovely cottage with great facilities and beautifully presented. Kitchen diner area was fantastic with amazing large windows with views onto the Fells. Lovely for weather watching. House was ideally located for great walks on your doorstep and great for visiting Kirby Lonsdale and Hawes
Had a gorgeous little 2 night stay. So peaceful and relaxing. The owners left a little welcome pack which was a lovely gesture.
We recently stayed at Howgills Barn (Mill House Cottage), and it was absolutely pristine and exceptionally well-maintained. Everything described on their website was spot on. The location is wonderfully isolated, offering all the peace and quiet you could possibly want. The classic Lake District rain kept us from going on walks, but we genuinely didn’t mind staying indoors. The cottage is incredibly spacious, the beds have wonderfully cozy sheets, and the kitchen is fully equipped with plenty of cutlery, making it a joy to cook our own meals. We have stayed in many luxury lodges and treehouses and the Dog House is definitely up there for us. Everything was so carefully thought about. The attention to detail made this property 10/10..... there was everything that you could possibly need. Not only was it immaculate, the interiors and the appliances were amazing! The location was beautiful and the added bonus of the hot tub too! Thank you so much for having us.
A beautiful house with stunning gardens. The house was spacious and very comfortable, especially the beds. The location felt rural yet located close to shops and amenities.

The stables were lovely we had a great time with our two children for a few days in lancashire. The stables were clean comfortable warm And bright and exceeded our expectations. The hot tub was a fun addition!
We had an amazing time here at the pavilion. It was exceptionally clean, it was peaceful, easy to find and the pub round the corner served excellent food. The communication with the owner was brilliant. It was lovely from start to finish. We would love to return some day.
We had a great week at the barn. It was exactly as expected, really clean and had everything you need to stay there. There were a few things which maybe I missed when reading the description but didn’t affect our stay and certainly wouldn’t put me off coming again. The car parking area is shared with the house opposite and the utility room is underneath/adjacent to the top floor and you can hear when the room is in use, as it’s also shared with the house opposite. The barn is in a fantastic location with brilliant views and 10/10 we would come back.
We have just returned from our third stay at Park House Cottage in so many years, and thoroughly enjoyed it as usual - despite poor weather. The cottage was warm, cosy and comfortable and well equipped for all the catering we wanted to do. The situation of the cottage is delightful, so many wonderful trees and well-kept grassy areas, and plants in pots. The 'wild' area across the road was a so pretty at this time of year. There are several lovely walks to do right on the doorstep. Kirkby Lonsdale, just a few miles away, has some nice cafes etc.and a good supermarket for provisions. Altoget...more
Excellent location for our dogs to escape what for them is the horror of bonfire night fireworks. This is the second time we've stayed at a Millhouse cottage in the Kirby Lonsdale area and again it worked a treat. The cottage was ideal for our stay, quiet and remote but easily accessable to the local amenities. Well appointed with all technology modern life requires, it made for a very pleasent stay. We will be booking another stay with Millhouse cottages as soon as possible for the same time of year, which says it all really.
We love visiting North Lancashire / South Cumbria and Barbon is the the perfect base to do it . Near , but not in busy K.L. . great walks from a tiny village with a peaceful friendly community on your doorstep . The cottage has everything you need and within easy reach of local services - if you need them . We stayed for what so far has been the hottest few days of the year , so we took advantage of the small courtyard garden at the rear . Other than the bathroom shower / seal , which perhaps needs some urgent attention , everything was perfect.
We had a fab few days at the barn. Modern new, clean holiday let. The bedrooms are very small with very little storage / hangers and a lack of coat/ towel hooks! The Owner could not have been nicer and more willing to make our stay more enjoyable - overall a very pleasant stay.
We always enjoy our time coming up to Kirkby Lonsdale & this is our second time in Brontë House which is comfortable & well presented. The one thing that disappoints us is the small things of not even a bottle of water or any milk just to make a drink after your journey. Sometimes it’s the little things you appreciate but it didn’t spoil our time there.
