Great location, great accommodation, great amenities… hard to beat this if you’re looking for an easily-reached middle-of-the-country option for a large group. We had 16 adults and 5 small children and we were fully accommodated by the wonderful hosts. When you’re this close to a pub, farm play park, walks literally out of your door, Oxenholme station and the M6 there’s little more you could ask for.
Salt Pie cottage was absolutely perfect in every way, loved the location and garden. Super clean and homely and of a great standard throughout. The kitchen had everything you have at home, the lounge was comfy and the garden perfect for morning sun and relaxing. Loved having a garden to water and hot tub to relax in. It was great having car parking space and a short walk up the lane to all the shops and market. Really didn't want to leave!!! We will be back!! Thanks Peter and Ann
We had a wonderful stay at Ruskin's View Cottage. The cottage is lovely - very well equipped with everything you need. The hot tub is a great bonus. The location is perfect. Quiet but within the lovely town of Kirkby Lonsdale which we loved, with wonderful views of Ruskin's View! There are lots of places to eat and drink. The location is great for both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. Neil and Gill were perfect hosts. The welcome hamper with lovely goodies, chocolate cake and also fizz in the fridge were very much appreciated and greatly received after a long journey. We l...more
We spent a wonderful week at this stunning property! It really is absolutely beautiful with everything you need for a peaceful relaxed stay in the country. Was tucked away from the outside world, but still easily accessible at the same time. Would recommend to anyone looking for a chilled and peaceful break. The hot tub is the icing on the cake
What a wonderful six days. It was a last minute decision to get away and we couldn’t have been more happier. The decor of the cottage is beautiful and everything you would expect from a country cottage. Peter and Jan were warm and welcoming and on hand for any of your needs.
Fantastic, luxurious, met all are expectations. We look forward to going again in the near future. Best place we have stayed.
Very comfortable property with amazing views. Absolutely everything we needed except for a butter dish!! No problem as found something else. The property was let down by the approach. Such a mess driving through Thornber Also we did not find any walks to do leaving directly from the house. We did not have any contact from the house rep just to make sure all was ok The things left were a bit random A bag of crisps, a bottle of fizzy drink ( on special offer in Booths) milk and some ginger biscuits. In the past we have had eggs, bread, cheese, butter and milk. All useful things if you arriv...more
Quiet , peaceful and restful with fabulous views. Stayed here before so knew it was a very comfortable, luxurious property.
The cottage was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed for a lovely cozy family break. We are looking forward to returning.
The facilities are amazing! And the location is picturesque - beautiful stream right on the doorstep. Bed was so comfortable, and the eye mask/bath robe and slippers were perfect touches for a relaxing break away. Also lots of things to do nearby.
We had a fabulous holiday at Howgills barn. Beautiful area with gorgeous scenery, loads of pubs within a short distance (by car) to eat. Would recommend.
We had a wonderful stay at the Dog House cottage at Mill House Cottages. The cottage is very nice, cleverly and stylishly renovated. And it is equipped with all modern conveniences. And then the views from your own terrace... breathtaking! You can't get enough of looking at the Dales. You can hear the silence, and you are completely surrounded by nature, mountains, a bubbling stream, and sheep, lots of sheep... And yet not entirely alone, thanks to the few other cottages on the property. If the opportunity arises, we would love to come back.
Had a great time at Foxhole Rigg Barn. The cottage was extremely well equipped and provisioned, we lacked for nothing upon arrival. The location is breathtaking, secluded, and ideal for exploring both the western Dales and within striking distance of the Lake District. We were however slightly disappointed to find the cottage superficially tidy with a lot of dust and cobwebs underneath the beds and in all corners. Fortunately we found the hoover. Another point for improvement would be safety - the dining chairs were wobbly and needed their bolts tightened - unfortunately we did not hav...more
This was our first visit with Mill Couse Cottages - customer service we received was excellent !! We stayed in the Mill House Cottage - we absolutely loved it & enjoyed the peaceful surroundings/ location -did not disappoint We walked to the the Barbon Inn down the lanes which was very good and would recommend - we also visited Kirkby Lonsdale which was literally 10 minutes drive away. Brilliant little shops and plenty of eating establishments We will certainly be booking again with MH - can't wait !! thank you for a lovely weekend spent - love the Simons family & little buddy dog :) ...more
Really enjoyed our stay at The Stables. Kirkby Lonsdale is two minutes away and has everything you need, good butcher, bakery and green grocer. Ideally located for outdoors exploring with an endless supply of walking and biking routes either from the door step or by car. Very well looked after by the hosts Anneka & Patrick, would really recommend without doubt.
We had a wonderful time at this lakeside property. It is quiet, clean and close to local amenities. The property has everything you need for a short relaxing break . I will definitely go back!
The property is situated in a beautiful setting with lovely views. The interior is of a high standard and couldn’t fault it and the hot tub was an added bonus. Sadly we booked for a 3 night stay and ended up leaving a day early as we could not sit outside due to the number of files. I am not sure if it was a specific time of year but I have never seen so many it made it impossible to sit outside. Our car was covered in hundreds of small flies each morning and if we were in the hot tub the flies just dived in ! We also came with two small dogs and sadly the garden was also an issue as the fence...more
Lovely stay for our getaway. Everyone from youngest (7 months) to oldest (70 years!) appreciated the convenient location and nearby parking. The home was clean and well stocked for cooking. Our one query was answered promptly by calling the number provided by Mill House management. Thank you again!
Overall it was a great stay. The house was incredibly clean, the garden was beautiful and the finish was excellent. The boot room was a gorgeous room and the views from the house really sold it to us. However, there were a few things that let it down for us. We booked this property before it had photos, when the photos were released a month later they placed a 10% off charge for any bookings to the new property. I emailed about this, yet I didn’t receive even an acknowledgment of an email. It was not a good first impression. Some small changes would make the house more useable. Fridge ...more
Fully recommend this property a very comfortable stay in a fabulous part of Cumbria weather was great will be going back
We love visiting North Lancashire / South Cumbria and Barbon is the the perfect base to do it . Near , but not in busy K.L. . great walks from a tiny village with a peaceful friendly community on your doorstep . The cottage has everything you need and within easy reach of local services - if you need them . We stayed for what so far has been the hottest few days of the year , so we took advantage of the small courtyard garden at the rear . Other than the bathroom shower / seal , which perhaps needs some urgent attention , everything was perfect.
Stayed four nights. Weather was appalling so didn’t explore much and appreciated the comfort and facilities in the cottage. Although furnishings were generally of a high quality, the foam pillows were a disappointment. Lighting in the sitting room was a bit dull if you wanted to read … it would benefit from an uplighter or two. Limited space in the kitchen if you’re bringing your own food.
This is a beautiful house in an amazing location. You feel so remote, yet amenities and outdoor activities are so close by. This is our 4th time booking this house and I'm sure we will book again in the future. 3 ensuite bedrooms which is ideal for our teenage kids having a room to themselves. There is everything you need in the kitchen and great to see an air fryer in there too. A short descent from the back garden takes you to a lovely pebble beach where we launched a Canadian canoe and paddle boards but I think our kids were quite happy diving/jumping in off the jetty. We made some camp...more
Bronte house was extremely comfortable and clean. It’s in a perfect location to enable you to visit either the lakes or the north Yorkshire dales Excellent in every way We will definitely be back
We had a fab few days at the barn. Modern new, clean holiday let. The bedrooms are very small with very little storage / hangers and a lack of coat/ towel hooks! The Owner could not have been nicer and more willing to make our stay more enjoyable - overall a very pleasant stay.
We had a lovely stay at the lodge and whilst there were many good things about the property ( the location, the garden and the hot tub) we found it to be in very poor state and not very good value for money. The lodge slept 6 comfortably but the living area is very small ( the dining table needed to be pulled out into the TV area to eat together). We were a party of 4 adults 2 kids I wouldn't recommend 6 adults in this house as there is not enough space to all sit together comfortably. The bedrooms and bathrooms were large, the bathrooms being particularly nicer than the rest of the hou...more
