Everything was perfect about the apartment, except that we are used to king size beds, and the small bedroom only held a double, which made sleeping difficult. There were problems with the heating system, but these were attended to with alacrity by the engineer (most helpful) and the agent, who is a lovely lady who appears to move at the speed of light! I cannot speak highly enough of this place and of the service we received - if only there were a king size bed, we would wish to return .....
All of us were very happy with our stay at Moray Place. Very beautifully decorated, well equiped and comfortable apartement. Very clean and tidy too. The privat garden (park!) was awsome, although the weather could have been a bit nicer to allow us to take more advantage of it. Only problem we had was a bit lacking in instruction how to operate the central heating, aswell as one of the (four) showers. A part from that everything super!
Our family of 2 grandparents, 2 daughters and 2 teenage grandsons stayed for a wonderful 4 days in this beautiful home. We all immediately settled in, did our laundry (after a 3 day trek on Hadrian's Wall in England) and just felt at home. The house is beautiful with a complete kitchen and comfortable living spaces. There are grocery stores nearby (be sure to find the butcher shop on Albany...wonderful curry stir fry!) and it is an easy walk to most anywhere in the center of Edinburgh. We have stayed in many Airbnb's and this is by far the nicest.
We've loved the appartement from the first moment. We've reached everything we've want to see by walking (with all the ups and downs it is fitnesstraining), but you can feel the wonderful atmosphere of this exiting city. We had only three days but we will co e back.
Indeed a great base to explore Edinburgh from. We enjoyed the well appointed and clean apartment in a very quiet residential area of Edinburgh. It was a short walk to the city center and the cool neighborhood of Stockbridge. We were also easily able to catch buses to anywhere we wanted to go and we felt like we lived as locals for a week. Great place for a family to stay with two floors and bedrooms. Also a short stumble from a locals pub, the St. Vincent. Rather than staying in the busy High St./Royal Mile area we will definitely choose this location again as it was closer to everything we wa...more
We loved our stay at this cute little apartment. There was plenty of room for my wife and I and our two small girls. Clean with a very functional kitchen, a free bottle of red wine, and a few steps to restaurants, the bus station, and Princes Street.
This was my second stay at Cambridge Street and I would be happy to stay again in the future. The location, just between Edinburgh Castle and Usher Hall, is exceptional, with easy access to both the old and new towns, plenty of pubs and restaurants, and really any place in the city centre that you might care to go. The flat itself is extremely pleasant and comfortable and has everything one needs to feel at home. Katie, Calum and others at Greatbase are very responsive when asking for help figuring out unfamiliar heating systems and appliances. I've stayed with Greatbase 3 times now, and can e...more
Nice house, Ideal for a stay over Christmas. Facilities and equipment generally very good. Only issues were, the lack of a TV (we brought a small TV and connected it up to our laptop) and not a great amount of cutlery. Off road parking very useful, goor location close to Stockbridge.
Outstanding, well equipped, clean and cozy apartment. Excellent access from the airport, 10 minutes to the railway station, around a myriad of restaurants and shops. A great base for exploring beautiful Edinburgh and wonderful Scotland. I recommend to everyone!
Beautiful, modern, comfortable and handily located two bedroom one bath apartment. We had everything we needed. We did experience some noise from the street and the pubs on Thursday and Friday night. We loved that we could walk right down into the park with kids toys, and up to the castle easily!
Excellent apartment for central Edinburgh. Plenty of space for a family of 4. Had an issue with the hot water, but this was resolved. Kitchen well stocked and very clean. Only item missing was kitchen roll - always usful to have some. Air con would have been nice, but it is a very old property. Used the fan in the room. Highly recommended though.
We live this apartment, location facilities and comfort. This is our second visit and booking again fir next year. Fantastic views over Edinburgh right next to the castle too
We really enjoyed our stay. The flat was lovely - spacious with comfortable beds and big modern bathrooms. The location was very central but quite at night. Would book again!
Very Good apartment the only thing is there is no lift so it would be difficult for someone with medical condition.
Firt of all, Great location Perfect amenities! You can imagine the dream house you ever dreamed.
This apartment was ideal for our group of 4! Large, high ceilings, wonderful decor, comfortable, and books!
Beautiful and comfortable apartment with good atmosphere. Extremely convenient for everything Edinburgh has to offer.
Only disappointment was not being aware of three flights of stairs and no lifts.? Hard with suitcases. Customer service excellent. Katie was very helpful.
Wonderful. Good furniture, kind enough to help us book the airport transfert service. We recommand it. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Stayed here with my husband and son on our first trip to Edinburgh. The location was perfect! We walked to everything. Comfortable and clean. We totally enjoyed our stay.
The toilet seat didn’t stay up for a gentleman using it. Some lamps needed extension cords. The television wasn’t easy to use. Lack of coasters to protect the tables. Placemats for the dining table would be nice. Shower door didn’t stay closed. Need more space in bathroom for toiletries. Need a wardrobe in the main bedroom to hang up clothes (suits, dresses). I would suggest moving the chest of drawers to the left of the fireplace in order to make room for a wardrobe. Slightly larger bedside tables in main bedroom.
The cottage is very nice and attractive. It had all of the amenities that were promised. There was even milk in the refrigerator and the necessities to make coffee and tea. It is in a quiet, safe feeling neighborhood. It was only a short walk to the bus stop to get to the center of town. The young lady who met us at check in was courteous and helpful. There is a grocery and a pharmacy at the corner within walking distance which was convenient. The only drawback was a lack of a place to put your luggage in the small twin bedroom.
Very nice apartment. Very good location. Much better than a hotel room for a week. Beautiful view of the Edinburgh castle.
Cozy apt located very near the heart of historic edinburgh. The host was very friendly and organized. I would recommend highly!
Mold smell all through Appartments liked the location lots of lnformation and directions people were very friendly and helpful
We were delighted to visit the apartment in Cumberland Street again. It is well located, spacious and very comfortable.
A perfect location for visiting Edinburgh. Very close to all the major parts of Old town and a great spot to venture from.
We do Airbnb's in Edinburgh about twice a year because of family there, and depending on how many of our kids and other relatives join us for each visit, we have done many different sizes and locations. You cannot beat this apartment for a two bedroom in the heart of the city! It has a prime location with groceries, great restaurants and all the top tourist sites within walking distance, and it is very clean, quiet and fully equipped. Everything is very modern, and the parking space is a real bonus. Katie, the host, met us on arrival, and she took the time to explain everything and make lo...more
A wonderfully positioned apartment close to the main railway station and away from the frenetic tourist activities in the Old Town. The apartment is secure, has all the basics and is comfortable. The owner however needs to attend to some maintenance as cupboards are broken or fail to operate properly. A number of lights were not in operation which increased the difficulty of cooking in a dark kitchen. There is a definite lack of allowance for clothes storage.
Ref title of my rewiew: Nice interior and decorations ( even some fresh flowers!) which made you feel at home. The site was both urban and close to the parks. Highly recommended!
fantastic location for Edinburgh city and surrounding areas walked up Arthurs seat as well as up the mile etc
Needed to find accommodation close to where we where undertaking a refurbishment of a new shop for several tradesmen. I searched the internet and found greatbase apartments. I emailed Katie and her team and they where very helpful. They have helped me with various requirements over the last several months. Jamaica Lane property is one of many we have used from Greatbase and it has been excellent. Highly recommended
This apartment on Barony Street was great: clean, spacious and lovely. It is at a corner with Broughton St, which is lined with good restaurants and coffee shops and there was a supermarket two blocks away. Our host Katie was very nice and welcoming. There were three bedrooms (two normal ones and one tiny with a twin bed, to my daughter's delight), a living room with a TV and a projector, fully equipped kitchen and a dining room with a large table. Three flights of stairs were not a problem for my family. The train station and the Royal Mile were about a 10min walk, the Edinburgh Castle maybe ...more
Nettes Appartment in ruhiger Lage, sehr gute Busanbindung, zu Fuß halbe Stunde zur Innenstadt, genügend Pubs und Frühstückslokale in der Nähe
This was an amazing place to stay. The apartment is on the 6th floor (with a lift, old school style!) with views over Makars Court to the south and across Princes Street Gardens and the city across the firth to the north. It is larger than the photos give it credit, and the furniture is stunning. All facilities are there, but you are right in the heart of the city so restaurants all around within minutes. Central heating very effective. Lovely dedicated CD system but if you are not a fan of classical or opera, bring your own CD's! Has a DVD player and TV but we never had time to watch anything...more
We really enjoyed our stay! Great location with lots of restaurant options. Great spot for picking up tours and other sightseeing activities. Great base was very organized with all the steps needed to book and complete the rental process.
We were met upon arrival and given a thorough introduction to the apartment. As we have stayed in similar there were no surprises - large airy rooms which were very comfortable and clean. The location was excellent for our needs. Being picky the main bathroom was fine but a little small and the vanity sink tiny and a little awkward for shaving. The en-suite was in the other bedroom was quirky to say the least but both served a purpose - hot water on demand with lovely rain shower heads. All bed linen and towels were excellent quality and made a for a good nights sleep.
My husband and I stayed in the apartment for a week -- it was a fantastic location for sightseeing, wandering, discovering new places to eat and drink, and people watching. The front room looks out on a somewhat busy street, but it is not noisy late. The bedroom looks out onto the courtyard and the castle, and is blissfully quiet. Everything is cozy but perfect for travelers. The Grassmarket has to be one of the lowest parts of the Old Town, so everything is uphill from the front door, but there is no visiting Edinburgh without climbing. We would absolutely stay here again.
More house keys would have been useful, otherwise all good. I guess the flat is student flat during the academic year.
Super apartment in lovely area of Edinburgh. Very well equipped. thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would highly recommend the apartment.
This is an attractive apartment which has many useful features including a dishwasher, washing machine, television, wifi. It is also a close to restaurants, shops, the castle, the university, and the train station. The only drawback is that the apartment is very small, especially when the fold-away bed is open. With 2 people it is very difficult to move around the room.
