This is a really well located cottage. It’s comfortable warm (well named!) and attractively furnished. The kitchen is well equipped and laid out, tho small. The attractions of Ambleside - including walking - are available from the doorstep. The parking permit is a great perk as it can be used not only in the car park directly opposite the cottage but also elsewhere in the Lakes. And the tab at the Rattle Ghyll was the icing on the cake! All in all, this is a wonderful place to stay.
We loved our stay at Sunnyside. The house was really accessible and fully equipped with everything we needed. Comfy beds and really clean!
We stayed here for 4 nights and received a warm welcome from Gemma. There were 2 bottles of wine and biscuits waiting for us in the cottage which was a nice touch. The cottage was lovely and the grounds were beautiful and great for our 2 wee dogs who loved running about. We used the games room every day. We are thinking of going back next year. The only downside to the cottage was not having a walk in shower for my elderly mum.
We had a great stay - we needed somewhere peaceful to stay because our dog is terrified of fireworks & Sparrows Nest was just perfect. It was also great for us too & had everything we needed to enjoy our visit. We have stayed in many lodges over the years & can honestly say that this was the nicest one we have ever stayed in & can highly recommend it.
This is a beautiful property which had everything we needed for our short break. The huge windows make it feel like living in a tree house. It's a great place to relax - very comfortable. We found lots to see and do in the local area. It's well worth a return visit
Everything was good, accommodation was as advertised. One disappointment as a DVD was mentioned in the equipment list at the Cottage so we took a lot of DVD’s for the children. The slip mat in the bath was torn and a slip mat in the walk-in shower downstairs would improve the safety. Apart from these perhaps a fly curtain would be a good idea at the doorway to the jacuzzi as this was open a lot during our stay. These are recommendations only but I feel would improve the facilities. Nevertheless we had an enjoyable stay.
Emilys Nook was perfect for us, everything we needed for our break away after a stressful few months. It is in a small peaceful village with walks from the door over the Caldbeck Fells, the views are breathtaking to Bassenthwaite and the Cumbria coast. Bassenthwaite is only a short drive. The cherry on the cake was a cooling refreshment in the pub before climbing the stairs for dinner. If your worried about noise from the pub, don't be, we were pleasantly surprised how little noise there is.
We had a really great stay at Geltsdale East Wing, with some really unexpected bonus features - leaving aside the excellent cottage for a moment, the views from the windows over the gardens to the surrounding landscape were stunning - and only surpassed by the sight of deer, pheasants, herons and ducks making their frequent visits to the grounds. The cottage itself is excellent - with everything you could wish for on a break away. There being just two of us, we had use of the first floor of the wing, entrance being via a private door and staircase. On entering the accommodation proper, a larg...more
A quiet private and peaceful lodge surrounded by greenery and very convenient for the Lake District’s northern fells, Ullswater and all the shops in Penrith. Very well equipped with comfortable beds, good showers, very fast WiFi and numerous books, games and videos. The wonderful conservatory which opens in 2 sides to the garden was an added bonus. Also, the biggest leather sofa in the universe!
South view cottage was everything we wanted for our 4 night stay. The cottage is fully equipped, providing everything you’ll need. The views are beautiful and it’s so peaceful. Bruce was a fantastic host. We will be back to south view cottage again soon.
Very responsive owner , lovely accomodation of high quality and great location. Everything worked properly, warm and comfortable.
The only thing the place is missing is decent wifi. The pictures you see are old pictures, the little decked patio is no longer there but that didn’t really matter because when we were outside we were making good use of the hot tub which ofcourse is now sheltered by a pergola! This place is good for if you want to get away from the world and focus on you and your partner, there is a 6 foot privacy fence surrounding with woods and a burn to the rear. Highly recommend!
Loved the cottage, spotless ,comfortable, Hot Tub an added bonus. Could walk our dogs from the door . Lovely box of Brownies left for us on arrival. Had a lovely relaxing Holiday. Would certainly return .
When we arrived, there was a designated parking space and the key was available in a key safe. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and a good size. The location was perfect. Easy to access by road, and two supermarkets only a couple of minutes walk. The town centre 5 minutes walk. I would happily recommend Glenmore Hewetson Court to anyone looking for a Lake District holiday.
We had a wonderful holiday, the apartment is beautiful, with exceptional views. We really enjoyed ourselves and hope to return in the future.
We had a fab week at mill cottage. We were there for the fly fishing. But the cottage had everything we needed for a week away. We had some beautiful weather too, which we took full advantage of in the suntrap of a garden.
The cottage was luxurious, well equipped and views were stunning. It was lovely being so close to the farm animals and being greeted each morning by the chickens roaming around the grounds and horses in the field next to the cottage. Tottergill farm has amazing wildlife too and we spotted deer several times during our stay. The hot tub and wood burning stove was perfect addition to the holiday experience. After spending our days out on walks or travelling to local attractions it was lovely to warm up in the hot tub. We were so relaxed by the end of our stay and would definitely book...more
What a amazing place with great scenery it's located in a great place and will 100% be booking here again
Lovely cottage in a great location with everything you could need provided. Easy to find and has the best of both worlds as it is in a rural location but also near town and attractions. Motorway very handy if you wanted to go further. Hosts helpful. Carlisle is an interesting town and lakes can be reached as well as Hadrians Wall so plenty to do and see.
We had a lovely time away at Hazelrigg cottage. The accommodation was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed. I particularly liked the guest area and thought it was a great addition to the Howscales site. The hosts have made part of the site accessible for all their cottage users and it included things like leaflets, games, toys, puzzles, a washing machine, drying room and extra food for guests. The food had been left by previous guests and included things like cooking oil, ketchup, tinned food, etc. Our property had a private garden but there was also a wraparound shared outdoor spa...more
What a beautiful, cosy, peaceful cottage. Chocolate box gorgeous from the rose over the door to the lovely mix of old and new decor. The bottle of wine waiting for us was a thoughtful touch. We just didn’t want to leave and have already booked again.
Lovely location in the family estate, the accommodation over looks fields and woodland and was very well presented Access to many walks, not to far from all the well known Lakes and tourist attractions. For those who want to explore many roads off the beaten track with beautiful views . Recommended.
I called and spoke to Tracey the day before we were due to arrive and was struck by how happy she sounded that we were coming despite never having met us which served to raise the excitement we already felt. We were greeted on arrival and given lots of information on the lie of the land and places to eat and shop then entered the cosiest homely, cottage on a dreary day to find everything ready for a hot cuppa with a sweet treat. There were logs and kindling ready by the fire and fresh flowers on the table, we immediately felt so welcome! We chose our rooms, unpacked everything finding homes...more
We had a lovely, relaxing time at Old Belfield. We enjoyed sitting in the lounge window watching the birds and the squirrel. The weather was nice enough to enjoy a glass of wine on the patio. It was a bit too warm to light the stove, but next time. We walked into Bowness on Windermere and had a meal out, lots of choice, it was handy being walking distance, both of us could have a drink and not worry about who was driving home. The view from the main bedroom down over the lake is lovely, and watching the tree tops from the bed makes you feel a bit like your in a treehouse. Really enjoyed our st...more
We had a great stay, well equipped cottage, great views, plenty of space, would definitely recommend
Very comfortable stay. Well stocked cottage. Very handy for shops and pubs. Lots of local activities and ideal for short or long walk and hill walking.
We had a lovely long weekend at Watson Cottage. The cottage had everything you could possibly need and it was warm and very comfortable. The hot tub was an added extra! It's a beautiful location with lots of things to do whatever the weather.
Amazing stay and location. Second time back and it was just as beautiful as the first time! Highly recommend for anyone to go!
A few days away with my daughters and granddaughter. The cottage had everything we needed for a cosy stay within easy walking distance of the town and it's shops and bars. A highchair would have been very useful (too much baby stuff to bring with us!).
My husband and I stayed at Waters Edge, Talkin Tarn 30 May to 6 June and from the moment we entered the cottage we were absolutely delighted with our choice of accommodation and location. The view over the Tarn from the double patio doors is uninterrupted and stunning, and the furnishings throughout the cottage are of high quality. There is lots of crockery and utensils available, plus cleaning products for your use if required. The bed was very comfortable with lovely crisp bedding. Free parking in the nearby carpark is not a problem with lots of security cameras, although I doubt whether...more
Checking in at 3pm 1st December to be met with a tastefully decorated Christmas tree in the lounge window, similarly decorated mantelpiece and alcoves immediately set the tone. Whoever was instrumental in this should be applauded! So really from there everything was going to be good and we weren’t disappointed. The cottage is very tastefully appointed, notably window blinds and wall art. The bedding is fantastic, enabling wonderful rest. We expected a little early morning traffic noise due to the super convenient location and main road position but Upvc double glazing and general comfort deal...more
We stayed in the property for work, hence I marked down on value for money solely for that reason. However, it really is a fantastic house and location for anyone looking to visit the area. You needn’t bring anything to the house, everything you could possibly need for your stay is already there, and all of very good quality. Highly recommended from myself and the team.
Roxby is wonderful. Its location is superb, 2min walk to Pooley Bridge and the shops and pubs, 3min walk to the ferry. Its surroundings are so peaceful and the river is just stunning, along with all the wonderful wildlife it brings. We could've watched it all day! We arrived during storm Amy, which was wild, but the river stayed where it was meant to be! The house is brilliantly laid out, beautiful decor, and was spotlessly clean. Lovely hot power showers in the ensuits. All the utensils seemed new. And sharp knives! What can I say. We loved it and will be back. Its not especially cheap but w...more
This was our fourth (or maybe even fifth!) stay at this wonderful cottage, and we already can’t wait to come back. From the moment you walk through the door, it doesn’t feel like a holiday rental at all – it truly feels like coming home. The cottage itself is beautifully maintained and absolutely spotless, with every little thing you could possibly need thoughtfully provided. The views are simply breathtaking, and the peaceful location makes it the ideal place to relax and unwind. Despite being tucked away in such a tranquil spot, it’s very convenient too – there’s a bus stop nearby which we...more
Beautifully and well equipped accommodation in a perfect location looking out over Talkin Tarn. We were very comfortable and felt very relaxed. Thank you.
We had a fantastic stay at the cabin! It is easily accessible from the M6 and a great base for exploring the Lake District. The cabin itself was modern and clean - we had all the amenities we needed for our stay and they were all top of the range (especially the bed and kitchen)! We loved the privacy of the cabin/hot tub and the view across the estate was incredible! We will 100% stay here again - so glad we found this gem!
What an amazing time we had at this lodge. The area was fantastic and just a short drive away from the Lakes. We were also blessed with lovely sunny weather. There was nothing to complain about with the lodge. Beautiful inside, very well equipped and the sofa and bed were really comfortable. The hot tub was a very welcome asset after our days out.
Spent 3 nights with my husband and dog Pablo. Pablo loved the enclosed field that he could have freedom to run about while we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. Would highly recommend for a lovely relaxing break.
I absolutely loved my stay at the snug. Although it’s small it has absolutely everything you need (apart from maybe a table next to the hot tub for towels and somewhere to rest your wine glass!) It was lovely and toasty, and the shower was also surprisingly good! I’ll definitely be back :-)
We had an enjoyable week long stay at Fell View. The best part was the stunning views from the cottage of the fells. There were all amenities in the cottage and a lovely welcome basket from the owners. The cottage is located on a working farm but the owners were friendly and welcoming. The location of the property is easy to find, within 15 minute driving distance to Keswick or even walks from the doorstep. There is plenty of information provided about the local area and activities you can do. There aren’t any negatives save that there was a leaky kitchen tap which can be easily resolved. We w...more
Excellent all round. Highly r3ccomendable. Expensive for two, but good value for 5/6. One suggestion - would be helpful to have a grabrail in bath/ shower for us oldies, and a soap dish attached to shower wall. Regards.
An absolutely fantastic week staying in a most amazing house. Everything we could have wanted was provided for us. The beds were very comfy, the kitchen cupboards contained plenty of space and crockery. We felt at home as soon as we walked through the front door. We have been holidaying in the Lake District for years and this is the best house we have ever stayed.
This is a really lovely single floor cottage with beautiful views and gardens. Very well presented and very clean. The hosts were really helpful with a couple of minor issues that were resolved immediately. All rooms great proportions with very nice furniture and kitchen. We had a lovely stay, thank you.
Perfect location for ourselves and the property could not be nicer. Lovely house with everything you could ask for. Will definitely be visiting again.
We love Grasmere and are so pleased we found this cottage. It's extremely spacious and central in Grasmere, everywhere is within walking distance and the parking permit means you don't have to worry about finding somewhere to park. Would definitely stay again.
I would highly recommend Monkhouse Hill to anyone looking for accommodation in the North West lakes. The accommodation was spotless and very comfortable and the hot tub added an extra element of luxury that was perfect after a long day of exploring. The site is very well maintained and has stunning views over the Eden Valley. I'd also highly recommend a visit to the local village Caldbeck.
Absolutely love our stay at Lake View, the house was fabulous and perfectly equipped. The location was amazing so close to the Lake and a cute pub . We definitely hope to return
We've been staying at Old Baker's Cottage in May/June for the past 15 years. We love its location, character and spaciousness. One problem this time is the pictures on the walls are not properly secured. My partner brushed against one over a heater and 3 of them, in a domino-type effect, fell off the wall, nearly hitting her. They were held onto the wall by tiny pins, totally inadequate given the weight of each large picture. We have left them stacked against the wall. Also, a couple of lights were not working, and I could only find a bulb for one of them.
Well equipped, spacious and clean. Nice towels and good water pressure. Good directions/instructions and car parking permit is useful. A few small niggles, only one key provided and one door that slammed occasionally.
Adam was helpful in rectifying a problem with a heater. We felt the additional charge for extra logs was unnecessary, and the ones which were supplied didn't catch light readily. Although it wasn't a problem for us in September, the lack of a bedroom blind could be an issue in summer. Silicone tongs would be useful to use in the air fryer.
We’ve just got home from a 3 night stay in Bluebell and it was lovely. A real hidden gem with gorgeous views. It is a great location for exploring Ullswater and the surrounding villages by a short car trip. The lodge itself is very modern, clean and tidy. A lovely little welcome hamper too on arrival which was greatly appreciated. If I had to make any suggestions it would be to provide more logs for the wood fire hot tub. The instructions say per use it needs around 1.5-2 bags of logs. 2 were provided but when you are staying here for 3 nights, it would be appreciated to have atleast enoug...more
We had a lovely stay in this beautifully done-up shepherds hut. We particularly enjoyed the log burner!
This is such a special place. We had an unforgettable stay at the Duke of Portland Boathouse. Just incredible views, paddle boarding and swimming from the doorstep and wonderful walks and food in pooley bridge. Would 100% recommend for a really unique stay
Fantastic location, set in front of rolling hills on a working farm. Accommodation was more than sufficient for 4 people + a dog. Clean, tidy, well presented and great views. Friendly owners too.
This place is stunning! It’s clean and fresh and so welcoming. The bed is so comfy and makes for an amazing nights sleep after sight seeing. Everything is maintained to such a high standard. I would recommend this place to anyone. There’s also the joys of a hot tub too!
We loved the lounge with its open fire and healthy supply of fuel. The kitchen was very nice and modern, although I don't know how anyone uses any of the high cupboards. The beds were very comfortable with nice bedding. If I was to suggest some improvements, while functional, I think the bedroom curtains and upstairs bathroom need some attention. Nevertheless, we hope to return another time.
The cabin is ideally located, offering a great level of privacy that made our stay feel truly peaceful. The views from the front of the lodge were stunning—perfect for morning coffee or evening relaxation. Everything inside was in perfect working order, which made the experience smooth and stress-free. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind in a serene setting
A bit off the beaten track but for me it's better for it. Only real grumble was the soft mattress - a personal preference obviously. Great place to switch off, unwind and get back to what matters.
The village is lovely and the cottage was nice and central. The issues we had were all minor and could so easily be addressed: 1 kitchen equipment was minimal and what there was had seen better days eg a colander without a bottom, cracked wine glass, placemats all scuffed and despite being scrubbed wouldn't clean, and a salt dispenser that looked like a health hazard. 2 Oven door felt loose and unstable; 3 neither of us could get the WiFi password to work; 4 Lots of DVDs on the shelf but no player; 5 the tv aerial in the living room was an absolute eyesore and wa...more
we very much enjoyed our stay. we found it difficult to find Sians Retreat. This is only the name of the hut. So we were unsure if we where Sians Retreat is. the garden could be nicer.
We are regulars for the last 15 years or so to Grasmere view. We park the car and walk - but today are more and more into fantasy fellwalking. Would be great if we could bring our dog with us - we would willingly pay extra. The old place is a bit tired now - and needs some maintenance.
This is a very pleasant period terraced cottage on the edge of the village. Staveley has several decent shops, pub and other facilities. Very handy location just off the A591 (Kendall - Windermere road). We found the cottage clean, tidy, well appointed and tastefully finished. We particularly liked the open plan living-dining-kitchen layout on the first floor, while the bedrooms on the ground floor were cosy, with two modern shower rooms. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again next year, so that should tell its own story.
Only a two minute walk to center of Keswick. Has free permit parking in the church car park at the rear of the property. Combi boiler so heating and hot water when you want it and also has an electric shower. There is a rear courtyard but the back door was unusable as it was falling to bits so didn't use it. The cottage could do with some TLC but this is reflected in the price. My 2nd stay here and will stop again once the back door has been replaced.
My wife and I stayed in mid July 2024 and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The furniture is a bit dated but comfortable. The upside down layout makes for a warm stay and we were treated to bats outside the living room window at dusk each evening. There was a welcome pack of tea coffee cakes and milk in the fridge which is always a lovely touch when it happens. There is everything in the lodge, including a dishwasher, washing machine, iron and ironing board. The double bed is very big and comfortable and a hair dryer is also available. The lodge is a bit difficult to find at first, make sure you u...more
The property was easily located, parking is tight but some options close by. On first sight the property was very clean and welcoming with an excellent view down over the town and surrounding hills. The space was very good for two people, kitchen facilities were good, except for the fridge which had seen better days but still worked. However, the seating around the table was uncomfortable, don't think that garden/conservatory chairs were appropriate. A place to lounge after a day out walking was appreciated. The bathroom is small, and the shower floor was a little spongy and bouncy. The...more
Accommodation was comfortable. Disappointed to turn up and find no clean towels or linen. This was quickly fixed, though there was subsequent confusion when the cleaner turned up a day early. Attention to detail could be better ( some sinks blocked, instructions for rubbish could have been clearer). However, overall, this is a nice place in a lovely location, and good value for money.
