Beautiful, quiet n relaxing cottage. Very private and secluded . Never slept so well. Hot tub was a great advantage in the early evenings. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Will definitely go back as wished ive of had a few fly fishing lessons. 5⭐️
This is our favourite place to stay in the Lakes A gorgeous, very comfortable cottage in Ambleside with parking A wood burning stove for cosy nights in and you can walk to a great variety of pubs and restaurants for a night out!

Lovely location in the family estate, the accommodation over looks fields and woodland and was very well presented Access to many walks, not to far from all the well known Lakes and tourist attractions. For those who want to explore many roads off the beaten track with beautiful views . Recommended.
The only thing the place is missing is decent wifi. The pictures you see are old pictures, the little decked patio is no longer there but that didn’t really matter because when we were outside we were making good use of the hot tub which ofcourse is now sheltered by a pergola! This place is good for if you want to get away from the world and focus on you and your partner, there is a 6 foot privacy fence surrounding with woods and a burn to the rear. Highly recommend!

We had a lovely long weekend at Watson Cottage. The cottage had everything you could possibly need and it was warm and very comfortable. The hot tub was an added extra! It's a beautiful location with lots of things to do whatever the weather.
Lovely cottage in a great location with everything you could need provided. Easy to find and has the best of both worlds as it is in a rural location but also near town and attractions. Motorway very handy if you wanted to go further. Hosts helpful. Carlisle is an interesting town and lakes can be reached as well as Hadrians Wall so plenty to do and see.
We have had a fantastic week away together in this fantastic house. It didn't lack any home comfort and it was a pleasure to return to after a long day out. The dogs loved the park opposite and the courtyard provided a secluded spot to enjoy the evening sun. On the recommendations of the Scott family we too would recommend the coffee at The Elm Cafe in the George Fisher Store along with a meal at Bar Es for Mexican food and cocktails - a truly delicious combination! This was our first time visiting Grasmere and I think we have found our new favourite place to stay. Being all ground floor, the cottage was ideal for us with my elderly parents. The cottage is well equipped and centrally located. We enjoyed wandering around the art galleries and shops and ventured into Ambleside, Windermere and Keswick all really easy to reach by car.
Cosy Cottage in Ambleside certainly lived up to it's name! We stayed for a week when the weather was dry but bitingly cold, great weather for winter rambles right from our front door! The central heating was timed perfectly for us so when we got in at 4.30ish each day, the cottage was toasty & only got toaster when we lit the very efficient wood burner. It was wonderfully warm in the morning too. The Golden Rule pub is within a stones throw from Cosy Cottage, fab for a quick pint before dinner! The most relaxing rainy weekend we've ever had. Stayed for two nights of pure laziness and loved every minute. Beautiful cabin, comfy bed, amazing shower and the hot tub was perfection! It was a gorgeous quiet corner of wilderness just for us and the garden/little pond and surroundings were heavenly. We even managed to star gaze on the second night after a break in the clouds The only possible improvement I could suggest is the option of a pop up canopy or pull over awning for the hot tub for heavy rain, but certainly no complaints as we loved it anyway and will be going back!
Amazing magical place, very warm and cosy, everything we needed, so comfortable in every way. View is spectacular, changes everyday, despite very low temperatures outside we never felt it in the property .. Bed is so comfortable with superior bedding, so peaceful.
This was our fourth stay at this property and yet again it did not disappoint. Everything was perfect. It is an extremely comfortable and cosy place to stay with the most incredible views to be seen from pretty much every single window. The view from the main upstairs bedroom window is just stunning. There are so many fantastic walks on the doorstep and pooley bridge is just a five minute bus ride away ( the bus stop is a two minute walk from the property) or a 40 minute walk via the Ullswater way route. This was exactly what we needed after a busy few months. The location is idlyic overlooking Talkin Tarn with a lovely walk around the lake right from the door. Cumbrian Cottage Holidays staff were very friendly and answered all of our questions prior to booking. David, the owner, also popped by to make sure everything was OK for us. A 5 star property with 5 star service. Can't wait to return again now we have found our little peace of heaven.
We had a fantastic stay at the cabin! It is easily accessible from the M6 and a great base for exploring the Lake District. The cabin itself was modern and clean - we had all the amenities we needed for our stay and they were all top of the range (especially the bed and kitchen)! We loved the privacy of the cabin/hot tub and the view across the estate was incredible! We will 100% stay here again - so glad we found this gem!
Everything was just perfect! The property is beautifully decorated with pretty much everything you need for your stay. It was warm and comfortable. We really appreciated the tea, milk and biscuits on arrival after a long journey. The location was stunning. A small walk across the bridge and you’ve got the pick of some lovely pubs and eateries. We would love to return at another time.
Lovely accommodation with everything needed for a short stay. Clean and cosy with some nice little touch’s ie bottle of fizz, basket of jacuzzi, throw, marshmallows etc. Jacuzzi in private garden, nestled near a stream, saw an owl and squirrel on our visit. My husband had a lovely 60th weekend. Thank you. We will visit again for sure.
I have never called any place we’ve stayed during a vacation, a home, but this cottage has every comfort and a quality we’ve never experienced before. Absolutely beautiful cottage in a quaint village with the friendliest of people! Perfectly situated just outside Carlisle, a good jumping off point for touring and a stone’s throw from the Hadrian wall, we enjoyed it all! And returning to the cottage each day was the definition of peace and rest. Our host was accommodating and responsive to all of our needs! Superior support! Thank you for an outstanding stay!
A lovely well equipped cottage with plenty of space . We liked that all bedrooms were en suite . We noted the new kitchen and bathrooms since our last visit last year . We look forward to returning in the Autumn. Thank you
We love Grasmere and are so pleased we found this cottage. It's extremely spacious and central in Grasmere, everywhere is within walking distance and the parking permit means you don't have to worry about finding somewhere to park. Would definitely stay again.

Firstly be aware this cottage has no sign stating Portland boathouse so if and when you eventually find it then well done. Secondly the entrance and exit to the property is precarious at best, due to its location right next to a blind bend on a busy main road, this is NOT advertised!! Thirdly be aware of low beams in property I’m 6ft so not overly tall but still managed to bang and cut my head on one! Needless to say no beware low beams anywhere. Lastly for the price you’d expect Wi-Fi??
Great stay at Bluebell (name needs updating on Cumbrian Cottages), cabin absolutely perfect and we had a fantastic time! Only small issues were the hot tub took about 2.5 hours to get hot and then stuff floated out of the pipe into the water. This is first time using a wood fired tub so not sure if that's normal. Also a lot of flies around in summer months so very difficult to have doors/windows open.
The cottage itself is welcoming and unique, as was the owner who we spoke to the next morning. We didn’t get there until late because of a storm and it was really helpful that the key was left in the door. The cottage had most things we needed for a couple of nights but a larger chopping board, sharper knives and a kitchen sponge would have been extremely useful for cooking and wiping down the kitchen. The bedrooms are very big and guests have lots of space. My daughter loved the large bed! The view from the veranda is amazing and I imagine that it’s lovely to sit out there in the summer.
