Very responsive owner , lovely accomodation of high quality and great location. Everything worked properly, warm and comfortable.
Very comfortable stay. Well stocked cottage. Very handy for shops and pubs. Lots of local activities and ideal for short or long walk and hill walking.
The only thing the place is missing is decent wifi. The pictures you see are old pictures, the little decked patio is no longer there but that didn’t really matter because when we were outside we were making good use of the hot tub which ofcourse is now sheltered by a pergola! This place is good for if you want to get away from the world and focus on you and your partner, there is a 6 foot privacy fence surrounding with woods and a burn to the rear. Highly recommend!
I called and spoke to Tracey the day before we were due to arrive and was struck by how happy she sounded that we were coming despite never having met us which served to raise the excitement we already felt. We were greeted on arrival and given lots of information on the lie of the land and places to eat and shop then entered the cosiest homely, cottage on a dreary day to find everything ready for a hot cuppa with a sweet treat. There were logs and kindling ready by the fire and fresh flowers on the table, we immediately felt so welcome! We chose our rooms, unpacked everything finding homes...more
When we arrived, there was a designated parking space and the key was available in a key safe. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and a good size. The location was perfect. Easy to access by road, and two supermarkets only a couple of minutes walk. The town centre 5 minutes walk. I would happily recommend Glenmore Hewetson Court to anyone looking for a Lake District holiday.
We had a great stay, well equipped cottage, great views, plenty of space, would definitely recommend
We had a fab week at mill cottage. We were there for the fly fishing. But the cottage had everything we needed for a week away. We had some beautiful weather too, which we took full advantage of in the suntrap of a garden.
Wonderful stay in Cosy Cottage. It certainly lives up to its name with everything we could need! Fabulous central location so we could walk to all the bars and restaurants in Ambleside. Great to have a permit for car park nearby which although busy we had no problem finding a space when needed
We had a wonderful holiday, the apartment is beautiful, with exceptional views. We really enjoyed ourselves and hope to return in the future.
We loved our stay at Sunnyside. The house was really accessible and fully equipped with everything we needed. Comfy beds and really clean!
Lovely location in the family estate, the accommodation over looks fields and woodland and was very well presented Access to many walks, not to far from all the well known Lakes and tourist attractions. For those who want to explore many roads off the beaten track with beautiful views . Recommended.
The cottage was luxurious, well equipped and views were stunning. It was lovely being so close to the farm animals and being greeted each morning by the chickens roaming around the grounds and horses in the field next to the cottage. Tottergill farm has amazing wildlife too and we spotted deer several times during our stay. The hot tub and wood burning stove was perfect addition to the holiday experience. After spending our days out on walks or travelling to local attractions it was lovely to warm up in the hot tub. We were so relaxed by the end of our stay and would definitely book...more
Lovely cottage in a great location with everything you could need provided. Easy to find and has the best of both worlds as it is in a rural location but also near town and attractions. Motorway very handy if you wanted to go further. Hosts helpful. Carlisle is an interesting town and lakes can be reached as well as Hadrians Wall so plenty to do and see.
Stayed for a week cottage is in a lovely location very comfortable bed. had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable.
We had a really great stay at Geltsdale East Wing, with some really unexpected bonus features - leaving aside the excellent cottage for a moment, the views from the windows over the gardens to the surrounding landscape were stunning - and only surpassed by the sight of deer, pheasants, herons and ducks making their frequent visits to the grounds. The cottage itself is excellent - with everything you could wish for on a break away. There being just two of us, we had use of the first floor of the wing, entrance being via a private door and staircase. On entering the accommodation proper, a larg...more
Myself, my husband and our dog spent a peaceful few days here, we really felt away from it all. Puddleduck Hut provided for all our needs, it was comfortable and cosy, everything worked. We'd never used a wood fired hot tub before and this was a real treat, sitting outside regardless of the rain, while our dog ran around the orchard chasing his ball. Peaceful indeed.
We had a lovely long weekend at Watson Cottage. The cottage had everything you could possibly need and it was warm and very comfortable. The hot tub was an added extra! It's a beautiful location with lots of things to do whatever the weather.
Excellent location for a visit to Keswick and the lake District. Very well presented accommodation with parking. Easy walk to Derwent water and town facilities
We stayed here for 4 nights and received a warm welcome from Gemma. There were 2 bottles of wine and biscuits waiting for us in the cottage which was a nice touch. The cottage was lovely and the grounds were beautiful and great for our 2 wee dogs who loved running about. We used the games room every day. We are thinking of going back next year. The only downside to the cottage was not having a walk in shower for my elderly mum.
We had a great stay - we needed somewhere peaceful to stay because our dog is terrified of fireworks & Sparrows Nest was just perfect. It was also great for us too & had everything we needed to enjoy our visit. We have stayed in many lodges over the years & can honestly say that this was the nicest one we have ever stayed in & can highly recommend it.
This is a beautiful property which had everything we needed for our short break. The huge windows make it feel like living in a tree house. It's a great place to relax - very comfortable. We found lots to see and do in the local area. It's well worth a return visit
Emilys Nook was perfect for us, everything we needed for our break away after a stressful few months. It is in a small peaceful village with walks from the door over the Caldbeck Fells, the views are breathtaking to Bassenthwaite and the Cumbria coast. Bassenthwaite is only a short drive. The cherry on the cake was a cooling refreshment in the pub before climbing the stairs for dinner. If your worried about noise from the pub, don't be, we were pleasantly surprised how little noise there is.
Three generations of our family stayed here for a wonderful week in this super property. Super comfy beds for a great night's sleep after days out in the outdoors. Absolutely fabulous
4 night stay in Anley cottage turned out to be a great experience. Extremely impressed with the facilities & decor thought of everything needed Definitely recommend a stay here .
Lovely accommodation in a fabulous and relaxing location. Second visit and doesn’t disappoint. Hope to visit for another recharge soon.
A very comfortable and well maintained property. Highly recommend. Lovely pond and good pubs/food nearby
My husband and I stayed at Waters Edge, Talkin Tarn 30 May to 6 June and from the moment we entered the cottage we were absolutely delighted with our choice of accommodation and location. The view over the Tarn from the double patio doors is uninterrupted and stunning, and the furnishings throughout the cottage are of high quality. There is lots of crockery and utensils available, plus cleaning products for your use if required. The bed was very comfortable with lovely crisp bedding. Free parking in the nearby carpark is not a problem with lots of security cameras, although I doubt whether...more
Checking in at 3pm 1st December to be met with a tastefully decorated Christmas tree in the lounge window, similarly decorated mantelpiece and alcoves immediately set the tone. Whoever was instrumental in this should be applauded! So really from there everything was going to be good and we weren’t disappointed. The cottage is very tastefully appointed, notably window blinds and wall art. The bedding is fantastic, enabling wonderful rest. We expected a little early morning traffic noise due to the super convenient location and main road position but Upvc double glazing and general comfort deal...more
This holiday home provided everything we needed. Very easy to find, up a beautiful drive with plenty of space for parking, playing, relaxing front & back of the house, for bbq & relaxing by the hot-tub. Inside with beautiful furnishings, very well equipped kitchen, & a delicious breakfast pack which we all enjoyed. We had plenty of space for us all throughout the house. We enjoyed lovely comfy beds & plenty of bathrooms. Great fun & memories have been made by us all. Thankyou Barbara & team.
This cottage has been beautifully converted from a stable block. Bedrooms comfortable and spotless. Large kitchen/dining room, and comfortable lounge with two big sofas. No problems, though the lounge stove can be a little bit smoky. Great location for Mungrisedale and the Caldbeck fells, easy enough access to Ullswater and Keswick. Very friendly welcome from the owners who live next door, who provided a nice Xmas tree, and a welcoming selection of basic provisions, wine, treats...
We shared three wonderful days with family in this excellent bungalow which was exactly as advertised….stunning view and easy access to Pooley Bridge. Slight hiccup on the final morning when the electricity cut out but on contacting the office it was soon rectified. We would certainly return again.
This was our fourth (or maybe even fifth!) stay at this wonderful cottage, and we already can’t wait to come back. From the moment you walk through the door, it doesn’t feel like a holiday rental at all – it truly feels like coming home. The cottage itself is beautifully maintained and absolutely spotless, with every little thing you could possibly need thoughtfully provided. The views are simply breathtaking, and the peaceful location makes it the ideal place to relax and unwind. Despite being tucked away in such a tranquil spot, it’s very convenient too – there’s a bus stop nearby which we...more
I absolutely loved my stay at the snug. Although it’s small it has absolutely everything you need (apart from maybe a table next to the hot tub for towels and somewhere to rest your wine glass!) It was lovely and toasty, and the shower was also surprisingly good! I’ll definitely be back :-)
We had a fantastic stay at the cabin! It is easily accessible from the M6 and a great base for exploring the Lake District. The cabin itself was modern and clean - we had all the amenities we needed for our stay and they were all top of the range (especially the bed and kitchen)! We loved the privacy of the cabin/hot tub and the view across the estate was incredible! We will 100% stay here again - so glad we found this gem!
A week spent at Hill Cottage is a week well spent. It feels like home from home, really well kitted out with everything you could want. The quality of the cookware was really good, the speck of the oven/microwave etc was top notch. And the shower was fabulous. So a hot day climbing mountains gets washed off with ease and comfort. I would thoroughly recommend a stay here to anyone visiting the Lakes.
Good accommodation. Clean and comfortable. A little tired in places, some of the decor could do with a refresh. Good equipped kitchen and separate utility room. We had to use the second bedroom as the curtains in the first bedroom let a lot of light in and made it a bit difficult to sleep. Some of the crockery was chipped as well as quite a few glasses. We have emailed as requested regarding this but not sure it was received as we have had no response. Nice, convenient location, good access to Carlisle, Lancaster and even better we were able to take the train as station about 10 minutes wal...more
We were lucky enough to have an extended stay at Green Vale Lodge and wish we could have stayed for longer. The accommodation is excellent and the location perfect. We had everything we needed (and more) in the lodge and the layout and decor was modern and very comfortable. The views from the garden are spectacular. Yanwath is a great place to stay as it sits in between Penrith and Ullswater and I was able to cycle to both locations within 15 minutes. The team at Cumbria Cottage Hoildays couldn’t have been more helpful. Thank you for a fantastic stay. We hope to come back!
Perfect location for ourselves and the property could not be nicer. Lovely house with everything you could ask for. Will definitely be visiting again.
The Shepherds Hut is very cosy and great for getting away from it all. Maes Tearoom next door is fabulous and serves amazing food. I tried the bacon roll which was fully loaded plus the Sunday lunch which was truly wonderful. The welcome victoria sponge and rocky road were also to die for. The hut is compact so I was glad fo stay there alone as I personally feel it would have been cramped for 2 but then again I know some people would love it and find it very romantic. I absolutely love the area hence choosing to stay here and it did not disappoint. The only glitch was Storm Lilian but you can ...more
I would highly recommend Monkhouse Hill to anyone looking for accommodation in the North West lakes. The accommodation was spotless and very comfortable and the hot tub added an extra element of luxury that was perfect after a long day of exploring. The site is very well maintained and has stunning views over the Eden Valley. I'd also highly recommend a visit to the local village Caldbeck.
We love Grasmere and are so pleased we found this cottage. It's extremely spacious and central in Grasmere, everywhere is within walking distance and the parking permit means you don't have to worry about finding somewhere to park. Would definitely stay again.
We've been staying at Old Baker's Cottage in May/June for the past 15 years. We love its location, character and spaciousness. One problem this time is the pictures on the walls are not properly secured. My partner brushed against one over a heater and 3 of them, in a domino-type effect, fell off the wall, nearly hitting her. They were held onto the wall by tiny pins, totally inadequate given the weight of each large picture. We have left them stacked against the wall. Also, a couple of lights were not working, and I could only find a bulb for one of them.
We stayed 3 nights at Church End and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The cottage is more spacious than it looks allowing plenty of room for privacy if wanted. The village has a wonderful market, pubs and is perfectly located for day trips to surrounding sites.
Well equipped, spacious and clean. Nice towels and good water pressure. Good directions/instructions and car parking permit is useful. A few small niggles, only one key provided and one door that slammed occasionally.
This place is what dreams are made of. Its beautiful in its setting, the interior wows you as you enter and the surrounding views and nature takes your breath away. I had been looking at the Boathouse for a while and it exceeded all expectation. There were swallows nesting in the eaves so we got to watch them feeding their young. It was exceptionally clean and a nice touch was a bottle of bubbly in the fridge. We are planning our next trip...no more words needed!
We’ve just got home from a 3 night stay in Bluebell and it was lovely. A real hidden gem with gorgeous views. It is a great location for exploring Ullswater and the surrounding villages by a short car trip. The lodge itself is very modern, clean and tidy. A lovely little welcome hamper too on arrival which was greatly appreciated. If I had to make any suggestions it would be to provide more logs for the wood fire hot tub. The instructions say per use it needs around 1.5-2 bags of logs. 2 were provided but when you are staying here for 3 nights, it would be appreciated to have atleast enoug...more
Just returned from a fabulous week in Lake View. The property was ideally located for our intended walks, the views from the property were as scenic as we wanted. This really was a lovely break. The property is well laid out and had everything required for our self catering break. Some fixtures are becoming a little tired and some attention to these would go a long way to improving the condition of a lovely property, as would a thorough clean. All in all a wonderful stay.
We wanted somewhere nice to stay while we did a six-day hiking holiday in the Lakes. Grasmere View was an absolutely ideal base. The location and the views of it are idyllic. The cottage is high enough to have a wonderful view of Grasmere and the surrounding peaks but also within five minutes walk of the lake itself and fifteen of the village with its pubs and eateries: it's a real pleasure just sitting in the garden enjoying the view. We walked from the front door on three days and had some great hikes. The furthest we drove was over to Langdale to climb up the stunning Langdale Pikes and the...more
This was a lovely house in a really beautiful location. We appreciated the well equipped kitchen and very comfortable lounge. Lovely garden; regrettably the wet weather meant we had limited opportunities to use it. Bedrooms were also comfortable in the main. The triple bed room was rather chilly and needed cleaning but the double bedrooms were comfortable and warm. Excellent downstairs shower. Upstairs shower a bit slow to drain so we made limited use of it. On arrival due to a mix up housekeeping had not been done. Thankfully Cumbrian Holidays were quick to send a cover cleaner but it did mak...more
Fantastic location, set in front of rolling hills on a working farm. Accommodation was more than sufficient for 4 people + a dog. Clean, tidy, well presented and great views. Friendly owners too.
We had a lovely time at the cottage! It’s absolutely beautiful, and the jacuzzi and fire really added to the experience. The location is perfect—very peaceful and relaxing. The hosts are super nice, which made our stay even better. We would highly recommend it!
A bit off the beaten track but for me it's better for it. Only real grumble was the soft mattress - a personal preference obviously. Great place to switch off, unwind and get back to what matters.
we very much enjoyed our stay. we found it difficult to find Sians Retreat. This is only the name of the hut. So we were unsure if we where Sians Retreat is. the garden could be nicer.
My wife and I stayed in mid July 2024 and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The furniture is a bit dated but comfortable. The upside down layout makes for a warm stay and we were treated to bats outside the living room window at dusk each evening. There was a welcome pack of tea coffee cakes and milk in the fridge which is always a lovely touch when it happens. There is everything in the lodge, including a dishwasher, washing machine, iron and ironing board. The double bed is very big and comfortable and a hair dryer is also available. The lodge is a bit difficult to find at first, make sure you u...more
The House is in prime location for all of your Lake District excursions. The House has great beds, excellent showers, comfortable living room for the evenings, and a well stocked kitchen and easy to operate kitchen with all your basic needs. 2 main things that were a bit disappointing. The lock on the door does not give a great feeling of security in the house. The door lock should be reinforced to give a better feeling. The second issue was the dishwasher which was shorting the electricity, and which was not dealt with during our stay (granted it was a bank holiday weekend, which makes it ...more
The property was easily located, parking is tight but some options close by. On first sight the property was very clean and welcoming with an excellent view down over the town and surrounding hills. The space was very good for two people, kitchen facilities were good, except for the fridge which had seen better days but still worked. However, the seating around the table was uncomfortable, don't think that garden/conservatory chairs were appropriate. A place to lounge after a day out walking was appreciated. The bathroom is small, and the shower floor was a little spongy and bouncy. The...more
Accommodation was comfortable. Disappointed to turn up and find no clean towels or linen. This was quickly fixed, though there was subsequent confusion when the cleaner turned up a day early. Attention to detail could be better ( some sinks blocked, instructions for rubbish could have been clearer). However, overall, this is a nice place in a lovely location, and good value for money.
