Had a fantastic week in Fairfax Place. The location is perfect, right in the centre of the town, and the flat is clean and very well-equipped (apart from a couple of extra kitchen items which would have been handy). It's a second floor flat, so there are stairs to get to it, but nothing too severe. The parking pass is very useful, as it can also be used in other towns in the area, The only minor issue was the wifi which was a bit hit and miss (even sitting next to the router we were struggling for a connection at one point), but that didn't detract from a really wonderful holiday. Would happil...more
Beautiful cottage in a fabulous location. We had a wonderful week. Thank you. We would definitely like to come back.
One of the nest ever places we have stayed. Beautifully and sympathetically furnished stylishly appointed and making the most of space. From the moment we stepped in we felt relaxed and the guidelines for usage were just that, sensible respectful and encouraging of a shared experience in a beautiful space. We were a bit disrupted for 3 hours one morning with a workman coming in to lay a floor but I guess damage happens and needs repairing. A lovely week's stay messing about on the river!
Excellent accommodation in ideal location for all local walks and access to Dartmouth via Lower Ferry. Upper terrace provides excellent view of river activity and Dartmouth town perfect for late afternoon drinks.
A perfect holiday apartment over looking the Dart. Spotlessly clean and Covid safe. The kitchen is very well equipped with everything you need to dine in, if that is your preference. Fabulous beds ensure a good nights sleep. Location is excellent, very close to town centre and various walks to suit everyones level of fitness. On site parking is a bonus.
Character cottage in a beautiful, tranquil location. Freshly picked sweetpeas were a lovely surprise.
Great little place. Nicely furnished and clean. Shower cubicle very small but adequate. No view which is a shame but good location at Bayards Cove.
We, two families and two grandparents traveled the breadth of England from Norfolk to Devon with some torrid traffic along the way to Ritson Farm a place we had never stayed at so there was excitement but prepared for a reality check. We need not have worried as Ritson was such a relaxing place to stay at. With four boys and six adults we never felt like we were tripping over each other. Light and airy, a garden just big enough for some games and a super kitchen-diner made for easy living and coped with the bustle of holiday life. The upstairs bedroom and bathrooms were a perfect combinatio...more
We loved our stay at JC's. Good location near the harbour, but not too near so not noisy of an evening. Very clean, big comfy bed, nice dining table. Annoyingly the shower room windows didn't open causing a steam build-up. For Consideration: 1. Supply champagne flutes; 2. Housekeeping to check lightbulbs ALL work; 3. Medium saucepan would be useful. Extra large and a small pan aren't helpful; and 4. RUSTY SHOWER RACK IS DISGUSTING, PLEASE REPLACE WITH BETTER QUALITY (CHROME) IMMEDIATELY.
We always enjoy holidaying in Dartmouth, and No 20 is a nice homely house set in a quiet location with an outside patio.
As you can see from our scores, we could not fault this property. Had a wonderful week in Dartmouth, would definitely recommend this cottage, and look forward to when we can stay there again.
Great house in town - super design great views really fresh and clean - walking distance to great pubs and restaurants
Curlew is our current favourite - fantastic view, comfortable and well-equipped. A few suggestions: a dishwasher would be great / hot water for bath requires Immersion heater to be on permanent / fridge door is easy not to close properly, so contents are not cooled enough sometimes - and we needed to scrape ice from back. A hose pipe would be useful ( dog spray down in garden ).
Gull’s Rest is in a perfect location in the heart of Dartmouth, which we found to be very convenient. The cottage was very homely and clean with comfortable beds, lovely linen and towels. It provided everything we needed as a family with a well equipped kitchen and we would certainly recommend it to others. We had excellent communication with Dart Valley Cottages and hope to return again in the future.
A very nice, homely holiday property in excellent condition inside and out, with a sunny, south facing deck area. The owners were welcoming, very helpful and gave advice on places to visit and eat. I would thoroughly recommend this property for those who enjoy peace and quiet and don't mind an energetic walk back from the town. It is located part way up a steep hill, but at least we got fit! We thoroughly enjoyed our break and would have no hesitation in returning. The whole experience with Dart Valley Cottages was seamless with excellent communication.
Had a wonderful stay here, some lovely touches with the fudge & bubbles! The house is in a great location and has a fabulous view looking out towards the river. The customer service has been great we will definitely be coming back!
This is the best equipped holiday home we’ve ever stayed in with very comfortable beds and every need anticipated ( eg warm blankets for cooler evenings on the terrace, wine fridge, good utility room). The cottage is well decorated in modern coastal style with good quality furniture and fittings and all mod cons. It was even more spacious than we expected. Above all it’s the breath taking views from the generous sized terrace and garden and also from every bedroom that make this property a wonderful holiday home. You can see down the Dart estuary from one side all the way out to sea on the oth...more
We have had such a lovely stay at cosy Damson Cottage. The cottage was warm, very clean and comfortable. It is more spacious than it appears on the photographs. We appreciated the Orchard for it's general loveliness and as a space for the children to play hide and seek. The cottage is in a great location within the village - just around the corner from the pub/shop/post office! It is a short walk down to the Ham with glorious views in all directions. We were sad to leave and determined to come back!
We had a lovely, relaxing stay in this well equipped and comfortable barn conversion. Enjoyed the stunning views from the property and great dog walks in the village and surrounding area. The only downside was the building work going on next door, it was a bit noisy at times. We would definetly be happy to stay at Barnfield again.
Excellent accommodation in peaceful and beautiful Dittisham. Perfect for crabbing and a short drive to Blackpool Sands. A visit to Dartmouth/Salcombe and Agatha Christie's home (Greenway) just across the river by ferry, a must.
The two best things about Seascape are the location and view. Parking is also a bonus although is a bit of a squeeze for larger cars but we managed. We felt that although our party was only 3 adults the glassware, crockery and cutlery was sparse meaning constant hand washing rather than waiting for the dishwasher. The apartment was very comfortable with plenty of seating and the side balcony was useful! The stairs to the 3rd floor, where the apartment is situated could be a problem for the less mobile. We would stay in Seascape again. Note to the owner, please replace the can op...more
If you want to be in the centre of town and near the waters edge, then this is lovely, and a very pretty and historic location. Well equipped with two decent bedrooms - one King and one superking, and two bathrooms, one with bath and shower over and one with a decent sized shower cubicle. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge and freezer and all the equipment you could need, though not great for dining as there is no table and only room for three high chairs on the island, with a high "tractor seat" that made sitting awkward as a fourth chair. Comfy settees, good televisions...more
We’ve just come home after a fantastic week at the lovely Garden Cottage, which really delivered on every front. The cottage is incredibly well presented, and has everything you need to enjoy a relaxed stay. The garden is beautiful and clearly someone’s pride and joy. However the highlight for me was the view from the loo( and master bedroom, and lounge…) which was the constant reminder that we were staying somewhere really special. The location was perfect for us, and we really made the most of both the quick stroll into the centre and the easy access to Jawbones, where the dog could stretch...more
Finally we managed to have our weekend in Dittersham (we originally booked a w/end in March 2020 which coincided with lockdown no.1). To be honest we were a bit nervous that everything would have changed because of the pandemic; we needn't have worried it is still the same marvellous cottage in the same marvellous village. We are now looking forward to March 2022.
A wonderful holiday week, A wonderful area, A wonderful holiday cottage set in a fantastic location. Thankyou
We enjoyed our stay; the cottage is well placed, warm and well equipped. We had to contact customer services about a few things including a shower that did not work, a number of missing light bulbs etc. The cottage could have been cleaner in places. The beds were very comfortable.
We stayed in November Cottage in June and were so happy with it that we booked again for September. Unfortunately the property is not so clean and well maintained as it was. Having said that we still enjoyed our stay and might consider returning.
We had a wonderful stay, great view. Very clean, everything you needed provided. Location good for driving to different locations Torquay Teignmouth etc . Also on a bus route, If you feel the walk from Dartmouth a little steep . We walked a lot while we were there and found different routes into Dartmouth & back. Would like to visit again
We loved our stay at Little Meadow. It was clean, comfortable, roomy and well appointed. We stayed for a week while our family were in Middle Meadow next door. It gave us the chance to enjoy their company and the spacious garden of Middle Meadow, whilst allowing us to escape every now and again to our personal retreat. The set up worked perfectly for a large family group of different generations. It is worth noting that there are a quite a few steps from the car parking area to the accommodation.
We had a lovely stay at the property. It was clean just the way we like it - not so pristine that you daren't touch anything but you could feel instantly relaxed and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The views from the windows were memorable, better and more visible than we expected. There were no logs in the log store but when we contacted the agents, enough for the week arrived within hours. The kitchen was very well equipped and considering we cooked a wide range of dishes, was not found wanting - although husband bemoaned the lack of dishwasher. Walks from the cottage were ...more
6th time in Dittisham but first at Alpha Cottage. Immaculately clean, comfortable beds and beautifully decorated. We had a lovely week and would definitely return. The stairs take some practice, so not recommended for anyone with mobility issues! We would have appreciated a ‘drying rack’ for our towels as it rained a lot and we couldn’t use the washing line outside. All in all, we would recommend Alpha Cottage and would definitely stay again.
Cottage was clean and well equipped. Location is excellent in the beautiful village of Dittisham. Very convenient parking at the property and excellent WiFi service. Recommended.
A lovely place to stay with great walking down to the sea. Would recommend. Ample space within the cottage.
Lovely cottage, well equipped and comfortable. A problem with the heating when we arrived was swiftly sorted out by the maintenance team. Vehicle access to the village, road and the property is not the easiest but well worth these minor problems when you arrive at the Nook. The ability to access walks from the door is a great feature as is the easy access to the River Dart ferry system. The area map from the Red Lion pub/shop/post office was very handy to the walking network. We did quite a few walks around the area including one to Dartmouth, which, although fairly hard was very rewarding....more
Ideally located in the centre of Dartmouth to feel the vibrancy of the town but private and quiet is what you want. Superbly equipped, super clean and comfortable.
Decent house and great location/ view. Will sleep 7 very comfortably. Lampshades needed dusting and WiFi wasn't great and tempermental
The garden & view at the cottage are lovely.Internally however, the cottage is basic and in need of some TLC.
Same as above lovely view could do with a bit more updating but still lovely. At the back shame we could not go up but all in all good holiday.
We enjoyed a relaxing week at Shippon End at the end of September. The accommodation was as described and despite not having its own garden the outdoor space was lovely and we managed with our energetic dog very successfully. The bathroom and upstairs cloakroom were fresh, bright and very clean. The seating area in the living room was adequate but looked tired and close to needing to be recovered. The double bed in the main bedroom was very comfortable and it was beautifully quiet at night ensuring a good nights’ sleep.
House was in great location with wonderful views of the river. Good large house suitable for our party of 6. Property needs some tlc as slightly worn in some places. En-suite bathroom has step down shower - which is great but needs a handrail for older guests.
Rocket House is perfect for a family, in our case family plus their partners. Location is just up from the key which meant we could carry our kayak and paddle board down to the water with ease. The pub is excellent, really friendly with great home made pizzas. Good location for getting to Dartmouth both by car or ferry, also visited Stoke Gabriel a few times both by water and car where there is the lovely River Shack cafe and restaurant. Overall difficult to beat this property.
Sabine House was very comfortable and was well equipped. The views were superb. The location was wonderful.
Had a lovely stay at this property last week. It’s really well located and very central, and only a minute’s walk from the a river Dart. There is a small hill up to the property so we were glad of our wheeled suitcases. The property is very comfortable over three floors. The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge is comfortable. The dining area is light and airy. There is an outside patio area - unfortunately it was a little too chilly to use. The main bedroom was great, and the large main bathroom. The shower was especially nice. Two further decent double bedrooms on the top flo...more
Blackness Barn is in a beautiful location and is so well equipped. You’ve thought of every little detail from kitchen equipment, laundry, even being able to play Alexa in the kitchen. Towels were handy (which we weren’t expecting from the booking email), drying rack too. It’s a 5 minute walk down to the Ham, which is a green space by the river Dart surrounded by trees. When tide was high we kayaked and paddle boarded from there. But it’s also such a lovely place to just sit. It’s very quiet and dark at night. It’s really off the beaten track which we loved. It does mean days out from t...more
We found this apartment and initially were unsure as it had no outside space. However, in the pandemic scramble for UK based holiday accommodation we thought it was worth a try. We were not disappointed! The photographs of the property do not really do it full justice. The view from the lounge is actually dual aspect, offering views both up and down river. The view is stunning and a joy to wake up to every day. The same view can be had from the master bedroom as well. The kitchen was extremely well equipped, with every item required to be found. It was great to have the double oven and the w...more
We had a lovely week in this cottage. It’s very comfortable and is a real home from home. The views are incredible. Driving around Dittisham is somewhat challenging!
Kessel House is well positioned for the town with the benefit of parking. Any regular visitor to Dartmouth will know just how important having your own parking spot is. Stylish and comfortable the house had everything we could possibly need during our stay. Fresh and clean decor, a well equipped kitchen and lots of different places to sit and relax meant there was space for everyone. Kessel House achieves a grest balance of being both stylish and interesting and homely and comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Very convenient for town and with a nice view. Bedrooms small and with little natural light. Main bed felt cold all the time and the room had some black mould in one corner of wall. Didn't use wardrobes as they smelled musty.
Perfect base for exploring around the river Dart. Herons Reach is spacious and airy. Beautiful sunsets too!
One or two problems encountered but reported them and they were addressed. Nice place would love a big double garage like this one for a workshop!!
What a lovely area and the weather was very good too. Willow cottage was a nice place to stay with lovely views from the patio. Inside was comfortable but a little tired, particularly the shower and bathroom area.
The Cottage is a characterful older building but with all the modern facilities and a large garden overlooking the river. The village has two pubs and community shop. Not really somewhere to go for activities - apart from sailing, fishing, etc - but very good for a relaxing stay "away from it all".
Lovely place to get away from it all. Quiet surroundings Steam room, sauna and swimming very nice to telax
Cottage was very comfortable for the two of us. Well equipped and ideally situated to explore this area of Devon. The road into the village can be tricky - single track with passing places for three miles!
'Ditsum' is a magical place and Holly Cottage has a wonderful location with a wealth of features - character, good quality furniture etc. It's just a shame that a few basics were missing: no towels, no dvd and no working shower. A simple welcome pack would also have enhanced the experience, as would literature showing local walks or attractions.
Been to Dittisham for many years ,having stayed in a number of cottages in the passed including this one . This cottage has not changed since the last time .it is in desperate need of updating &upgrading .only plus point is the location .!
We had a lovely week at Lilly cottage. It is comfortable and only a few minutes walk into the town so the location is ideal. Just a few negatives that could easily be rectified. The fridge/freezer is so small that you have to do a daily shop (even when there are just the 2 of you) and we were unable to chill any drinks because of this. We were told there would be a welcome pack on arrival but unfortunately nothing was left for us. After driving for 7.5 hours a pint of milk in the fridge would have been a welcome find for sure. The garden requires some maintenance including replacin...more
We adored our stay at Ferry View. We really loved the fact that, as we were fortunate enough to have the hottest week of the year, there seemed to always be somewhere to sit to grab a bit of sunshine - with two different spots to sit out in the back and one at the front of the house (and the window pocket up at the top!) There were some maintenance issues that we managed to sort out ourselves by finding an allen key and a couple of screws, but then we were ok. Be aware that the seagulls will be asking to be your friend at 4am if you're there in the summer and have the windows open. But a sm...more
We had a lovely week in the cottage, we parked the car and that's where it stayed, bus train and ferry was our mode of transport for the week, it was really good not having to worry about parking.
The position of the property is on a steep hill and steep staircases inside the property. This is our second visit and therefore we were aware of this. The property is clean and comfortable but in need of some TLC .eg new bedding and fridge , both in poor condition and could be easily improved. But love the views and character of the old place .
