my wife treated me for a week in dartmouth for my 70th . we were in a great location with parking and shops near by no driving required unless you were interested in surrounding areas . the apartment has great views and very comfortable even on a rainy day there was lots going on in the estuary . the harbour front and local shops are all on the flat and level mainly. which made looking around easy on the legs. it can get quite steep for the more adventurist' in all a lovely apartment nice little town great views with no driving needed.
Character accommodation in a beautiful location. Near village centre with excellent views. Cottage comfortable and well appointed. Lots of books and information. We had 3 meals in the Red Lion - quirky pub with excellent food! We were able to rest the car most of the time with local walks, boat trips to Dartmouth / Dartmouth Castle, and to Greenway. Also went to Totnes, Coleton Fishacre, Kingsbridge and Loddiswell (Chilli Farm and Avon Mill)
We really enjoyed our stay in Swilly Barn and thought the property is very well equipped and in a great location for touring the local area by car. The owners were very very friendly, welcoming and helpful and were on hand if needed which was reassuring. Thank you for letting use your cottage for our holiday. Adrian & Sue - Cambridge
A long journey from Lincolnshire, but definitely worth it. A friendly welcome from Maggie and John. Pridhams was one of the best self-catering holiday properties we have stayed in. The Welcome Basket full of goodies and extras we might need in cupboards and fridge. The Afternoon Tea, scones, clotted cream and jam was absolutely de.icious. Maggie”s scones were wonderful. The iron bedstead which reminded me of my grandparents was very comfortable, a great nights sleep. First class accommodation. All this together with a sun trap of a garden and a week of glorious sunshine gave as a truly rela...more
A lovely clean, comfortable, well presented little cottage. Lovely wood burner made for cosy and warm nights, well equipped kitchen and comfy bed. Short walk to local friendly pub with good hearty food, good position for walks, overall super little cottage in very nice peaceful and traditional village which made for a relaxing break.
We stayed at this cottage over the Christmas week just passed and had an excellent time. The cottage itself is very well equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. We felt immediately at home here, particularly as it is so homely. The cottage is only a very short walk from the amenities in town and the steep hill gives it commanding views over the town and estuary. Adrian, the owner, is incredibly helpful and an absolute mine of information - he very kindly checked local restaurants for availability and gave some great ideas for dog walks too. All in all, a br...more
What a special house, and what a wonderful view! The open plan downstairs area and the incredible garden and view, such a wonderful property and super special garden - a real pleasure to stay there.
Cottage light, bright, uplifting decor. Very well equipped. Quiet and beautiful location, friendly people.
We created wonderful memories at Ritson Farm with 3 generations and a dog! It was very comfortable and perfect for a large family. Location was great - close enough to towns and the coast. Facilities were excellent. It had everything any family could possibly need, including a boules set for the garden and a dog kit for your four legged friend!
We have recently returned from a delightful stay at Windjammer . The apartment more than lived up to the photos and description, in both the brochure and website. It is a lovely spacious apartment, very comfortable, with fabulous views. It feels like a home to live in not just a holiday 'let'. We would certainly be happy to return and are happy to recommend it, plus it has the advantage of being in a very beautiful part of the country. Marica and Robbie Pilkington
A lovely cottage. Immaculate. All new facilities. Lovely bedrooms and bathrooms. Not quite warm enough in living room for me but I like it toasty in winter. Central Dartmouth but no noise at all except for church bells. Best lovely shops and restaurants. Highly recommended
Bruno.
We really enjoyed our stay, the place was comfortable, clean and warm. It was a good location with lovely walks from the doorstep into the village and around the estuary.
Fantastic New Year stay very close to the centre with us leaving the car parked up for the break and lots of walking. Great communication and help from Dart Valley Cottages
Another very comfortable stay in Donore. The cottage is located in a very quiet location in the village which is both close to the river Dart and Dartmouth. The new cleaners have excelled in the cleanliness of the cottage and it was good to meet them. They are very friendly and extremely conscientious. It has excellent views across the village (following the removal of 2 ash trees in the car park below) and down to the river, where the paddle steamer can often be seen. The river gives easy access to Dartmouth and Greenway (NT).
Fantastic 3 storey cottage in the heart of the village. Local to the shop, chip van and park/river 5 minutes walk away. Everything you need on the middle level, beautiful view of the Dart, quiet & peaceful location for the 3 of us. Car parking space near by, local supermarket 10 minutes away.
A very comfortable and well appointed house. It is certainly one of the best holiday homes we’ve stayed in. It’s only a few minutes walk into Dartmouth, although there are 2 steepish hills to negotiate!! We shall certainly return!
The cottage is beautifully located for walking and touring. We found everything we needed at the cottage - the kitchen etc. is really well equipped and it is all well presented. I'm not sure if we missed it, but we didn't appreciate until we saw the sign at the bottom of the staircase that dogs couldn't go up into the lounge (first floor) which meant that we didn't use the lounge at all and spent evenings in the kitchen watching TV on our laptop as we don't like to shut them away for the whole evening. It wasn't a real problem but I don't remember seeing that in the details - as I said I may ...more
Very spacious and thoroughly equipped with everything you could ask for. Idyllic location with beautiful gardens. Highly recommended.
A lovely house with a relaxing atmosphere - instantly felt at home. Everything we needed was there and private path to beach an extra bonus. Watching the sun come up over the sea in the morning is priceless.
Due to COVID19 we only stayed three days out of our weeks stay but we greatly enjoyed the brief time at 16 Clarence Hill. It is a lovely house with great views, suited our needs perfectly and great that we could take Meg Dog too. Thank you for the little treats on arrival, much appreciated after our journey down. We hope to resume our stay when we are out of this terrible situation and enjoy this lovely home and Dartmouth again.
The house is in the perfect location with lovely views. We know the village well as have stayed here many times over the years. The house was very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped. We had a lovey Christmas there.
Dittisham is a beautiful little village, quiet and peaceful when we visited in December, and set amongst rolling hills. Cosy warm apartment in converted barns, walking distance to centre of village with amazing food pubs, and pretty foreshore. Dog friendly, with short or long walks from the front door. We visited with family, who rented other properties in the court, and this worked very well for a happy Christmas together.
The cottage sits above the river, with great views. It is tastefully and comfortably furnished, just right for a couple. All furniture and fittings are of high quality, matching and the kitchen is well equipped, it seems much care has been taken when choosing everything. The photos online are extremely accurate, which is really helpful when choosing accommodation. Although the weather was wet and cold, it was warm and cozy inside and we never tired of watching life on the water. The large windows overlook the river, one of the best features of the cottage. It is only a few minutes walk in...more
The perfect base for exploring the dart valley, South Hams beaches and Dartmoor. Thornwell is well thought out, comfortably appointed and full of character. The large and beautiful garden is a real bonus, the village and locals equally as charming and warm. We have fallen in love.
All in all a good stay. Cottage very clean and well equipped. Back garden and decked area needed tidying and maintenance.Location challenging by car, very steep, narrow and parking extremely difficult. Would have appreciated more information on this prior to arrival. However we did have a relaxing time.
This is a great find for a short stay in Dartmouth. The flat is very well equipped and we liked the spacious lounge/diner. The central location is perfect for popping in and out.
Dittisham as ever remains a very special place, having visited it about 12 times, normally in this cottage. Disappointed this year by the lack of basics... no salt, no pepper, one toilet roll between two toilets.... However, I can still recommend this cottage. Great position, easy and comfortable to get on with and has everything you need for an enjoyable break
We stayed at Rocket House last year and were so happy it waa available again for us this year. The house was perfect and so cozy and warm when we arrived. Everything was provided even logs for the fire although it was so mild we didn’t need one. A perfect winter retreat!!
Clean comfortable house in a convenient location. The wood burner is lovely and the bedrooms are really comfortable. It’s a very new let and I think because of this there are a few things lacking in terms of equipment and furnishings. For example there needs to be more plates and cutlery so that you don’t keep running out. Some champagne glasses would be nice. Waste paper baskets in the bedrooms and living room are needed and the bathrooms are missing toilet brushes! This didn’t detract from our stay and we’d definitely book again. Thank you!
The flat was smaller than anticpated, and we didn't like the fact that there was no proper daylight in the bedroom. We also found the kitchen difficult to use due to the lack of work surface; it was actually more difficult to cook in than it is in our caravan. The bed was extremely comfortable and the flat had excellent views. The flat was very clean and everything was in good order.
Only minus were the directions - you need to review them as there is no Nat West now. Also as strangers drive up the hill point out Old Library on left Antique shop on right - also parking area on left overlooking river just before house IS AVAILABLE FOR MORE THAN TWO HOURS IN THE WINTER MONTHS.
Lily Cottage is a cosy cottage perfect for a winter break. The underfloor heating downstairs was a delight and even if you weren't warm enough there was the wood burner. The only downside was no parking but that goes with most properties in Dartmouth but the plus was the owners provide a parking permit which is a real bonus. I cooked a lovely Christmas lunch at Lily Cottage but the lighting in the kitchen is extremely poor so it would be a great idea to upgrade the overhead lighting. A lovely stay.
This apartment is perfectly located with fantastic views up and down the Dart from the living room and master bedroom and a flat walk in and out of town (apart from 11 steps to entrance). It is comfortably furnished (if a little dated in style). Fantastic large kitchen with absolutely everything you can need (soup ladle was the only thing I needed that wasn't there!) - so much better equipped than many a rental. Just be aware that if your party comprises all adults, the smallest bedroom is rather cramped and only has a shower attachment rather than a "over the bath" shower. Ideally suited for...more
Only real comment is that the electric showers were not very hot despite being turned up to max and the hot water in the bath was very slow to fill. Otherwise great
Our Autumn break at Shipwrights was very relaxing. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. It felt a little chilly at times but we took advantage of the heaters and it soon came up to temperature, The shower was hot and the beds were comfortable. We were also rewarded with a firework display from the Naval College.
This was a last minute booking to surprise our family who were already down there for the New Year. Unfortunately, both my wife and I were taken ill and not fit enough to travel. Due to the last minute booking it was not considered cost effective to cover with insurance!!. Hopefully, Dart Valley and owners might be sympathetic to some refunds!.
The fact that the garden is not adjacent to the property meant that we didn't use it . The steps up are quite steep for older or infirm people. The property itself was comfortable and clean and everything worked.
Little difficult to park, but all good after once or twice. Dog friendly. Good bedrooms and bathrooms. Well laid out house. They did us proud by providing a Christmas Tree! All in all. Very good and would definitely revisit
Everything was fantastic, views stunning. Was immaculate when we arrived. Only issue beds were too hard
Enjoyed are stay at the Nook. Everything we needed, great little find.We have stayed with friends before in Dittisham. Great location for Dartmouth and Salcombe. The FBI always worth a visit with good pub grub and right on the river dart.
We have stayed in Spindlewood quite a few times both pre and post its updating and always enjoyed being there. The facilities are good and there's plenty of crockery, cutlery etc to accommodate the guests. Parking is easily adequate for 2 cars. We have only stayed there as a couple or with our grown-up daughter. I would have to condition a recommendation to others that if you can't carry luggage up the steps you will have problems with access. Also the rear lawn is raised significantly above the patio and is not flat so young children would need to be watched and would be quite limited in...more
If anyone is looking for that really peaceful holiday in order to get away from it all, then this property and location is superb. A picnic down on the Dittisham green overlooking the estuary is recommended, with toilet facilities to boot. Should anyone wish to venture out from here, then Blackpool and Slapton sands with great cafe's are not far away. We've been here before and will be back again.
A comfortable and spacious house in a great location. Good views over Dartmouth. We enjoyed the use of the outdoor pool. It was a bonus to find it was heated.
Myself , wife and 10 year old son stayed here for 4 nights last week . The Loft was spotless on arrival and we found it very cosy and it had everything we needed. The location is excellent right in the heart of Dartmouth, despite this it was very quiet. Finally the customer service offered by the staff was second to none. I left something in the property but it was no problem for them to return it to me. To conclude I would definitely recommend for a young family .
Had a lovely time at Herons Reach. One slight negative it would have been nice to have a small table and chairs outside but had a lovely time thanks and spotlessly clean.
A great location in a stunning Devon village, with first class service from the agent. However, we had an issue with cluster flies in the property that effectively meant one of the three bedrooms was uninhabitable for our weeks stay. The landlord (lawyer) felt a 6% goodwill gesture was appropriate given the issues we faced. I doubt if the ‘shoe was on the other foot’ he would accept such a derogatory gesture himself. Property is also quite dated and needs some renovation. So relatively expensive for the condition of the property and an arrogant landlord. Great village, excellent letting agent ...more
Good location, bungalow was spacious and airy. Only two things let it down and that was the heating was a bit temperamental- the control unit in the house didn’t work, we were unable to change the on off times so it was warm when we were out and cold first thing in the morning. But Dart Valley Cottages responded quickly when we reported no heat or hot water. Also back door wouldn’t open as the lock was seized. But other than that in a cold stormy week it was a nice place to stay.
Tunis cottage is in a great location, but is now very worn and needs some TLC. Decor doesn't really work anymore and looks shabby. Likewise shower is electric and has a v low flow, the mattresses and sheets are old and worn as are the sitting room sofa and chairs. No remote for the DVD player, but you can play videos! Time for a well-earned upgrade Dart Valley Cottages!
Cottage is will located and roomy but water pressure for showers could be improved. Good facilities available.
Once we'd parked up (my Ford Focus fitted the space but at an angle), we decided not to use the car. The road up is steep and narrow but not busy so we didn't meet anyone when arriving or departing, thankfully. There are fantastic views from the lounge and twin bedroom. The kitchen is generally well equipped (we missed pasta bowls, pint glasses and kitchen scissors); the beds were comfortable and the bath and shower both efficient. I would have preferred a more direct explanation of the layout (i.e. only one bedroom has direct same-floor access to the bathroom), so we would have been prep...more
The location of this cottage is fantastic but when we arrived at the cottage we were met with an overwhelming smell of “Wet Dogs”. Not sure if the people before had dogs but the smell was so unbearable we picked up some air freshener whilst we were out shopping! It was also not bet clean....lots of cob-webs which is to be expected in an old cottage but these had been here for some time! Also the outside shower room was awful, freezing cold, full of cob webs & damp. No heating in there at all! There was also no mention of this in the cottage description so was a littke mis-leading. The cott...more
There were no towels! I phoned the contact no who said that towels were not provided! There is no mention of this in the description or booking info. We had to go and buy some adding considerably to the cost of our stay. Had we known, we could have easily brought some with us. Cooker hood also does not work.
There were no towels and we were not told in advance There was what appeared to be damp in the lounge The garden chairs were not comfortable at all Otherwise fine
Cleanliness and Condition does not warrant an Excellent rating due to the imperfections in the ensuite and main bathroom. 1) The ensuite shower rail is adrift from the wall. The grouting around the wash basin needs refreshing. Around the base of the taps, the waste outlet and the plug hole needed more efficient cleaning. 2) The main bathroom shower door is not watertight. As a consequence the bath mat gets dripping wet and the surrounding floor area is dangerously wet. Again the base of the taps, the waste outlet and the plug hole needed more efficient cleaning. The floor is very squeaky an...more
Broken kitchen window, Bedding very poor quality ,needs new pillows & bedding . No back garden to let your dog out. No personal touch as we have always received from staying in all other properties.
We spent a few days at Barton Cottage in late October. We enjoyed the walk from the cottage into Dartmouth along the Dart Valley trail, returning to Dittisham via the ferry, then the short walk back along the lanes and across the fields to East Cornworthy. Beautiful scenery.
