We really enjoyed our stay in Swilly Barn and thought the property is very well equipped and in a great location for touring the local area by car. The owners were very very friendly, welcoming and helpful and were on hand if needed which was reassuring. Thank you for letting use your cottage for our holiday. Adrian & Sue - Cambridge
Character accommodation in a beautiful location. Near village centre with excellent views. Cottage comfortable and well appointed. Lots of books and information. We had 3 meals in the Red Lion - quirky pub with excellent food! We were able to rest the car most of the time with local walks, boat trips to Dartmouth / Dartmouth Castle, and to Greenway. Also went to Totnes, Coleton Fishacre, Kingsbridge and Loddiswell (Chilli Farm and Avon Mill)
A long journey from Lincolnshire, but definitely worth it. A friendly welcome from Maggie and John. Pridhams was one of the best self-catering holiday properties we have stayed in. The Welcome Basket full of goodies and extras we might need in cupboards and fridge. The Afternoon Tea, scones, clotted cream and jam was absolutely de.icious. Maggie”s scones were wonderful. The iron bedstead which reminded me of my grandparents was very comfortable, a great nights sleep. First class accommodation. All this together with a sun trap of a garden and a week of glorious sunshine gave as a truly rela...more
A lovely clean, comfortable, well presented little cottage. Lovely wood burner made for cosy and warm nights, well equipped kitchen and comfy bed. Short walk to local friendly pub with good hearty food, good position for walks, overall super little cottage in very nice peaceful and traditional village which made for a relaxing break.
What a special house, and what a wonderful view! The open plan downstairs area and the incredible garden and view, such a wonderful property and super special garden - a real pleasure to stay there.
We stayed at this cottage in late September having stayed at other places in Dittisham court in previous years. We love this area and the cottage did not disappoint. It is well equipped and we didn’t want for anything. We did feel however that the layout in the living area was more suited to just two people as although the room was large enough the corner sofa made watching tv a little difficult as one person would always have to be facing the window. Also we never got to grips with the heating which occasionally would come on randomly and the instructions did not explain it adequately especia...more
We created wonderful memories at Ritson Farm with 3 generations and a dog! It was very comfortable and perfect for a large family. Location was great - close enough to towns and the coast. Facilities were excellent. It had everything any family could possibly need, including a boules set for the garden and a dog kit for your four legged friend!
We have recently returned from a delightful stay at Windjammer . The apartment more than lived up to the photos and description, in both the brochure and website. It is a lovely spacious apartment, very comfortable, with fabulous views. It feels like a home to live in not just a holiday 'let'. We would certainly be happy to return and are happy to recommend it, plus it has the advantage of being in a very beautiful part of the country. Marica and Robbie Pilkington
Lovely cottage, shame about the builders as it was difficult to park and we thought going in the winter it would be easy. everything in cottage was good clean and comfortable. Lovely views from conservatory, just a pity it was not heated and then we could have spent more time out there. Teh village is lovely but again, pubs do not cater for winter visitors
We really enjoyed our stay, the place was comfortable, clean and warm. It was a good location with lovely walks from the doorstep into the village and around the estuary.
We had the most perfect stay at The Garden Cottage - it really was like being home from home comfort-wise, and beautifully presented and appointed throughout. The main bedroom on the 2nd floor was a particular highlight with wonderful views across the Dart River to Kingswear, as was the garden itself, which was remarkably private and sheltered, with several places to sit and relax. The living room was very comfortable and the internet TV and fast broadband speed were greatly appreciated by our two daughters (16 & 11). With a 5 minute walk down the (very steep) Crowther’s Hill to the town...more
Another very comfortable stay in Donore. The cottage is located in a very quiet location in the village which is both close to the river Dart and Dartmouth. The new cleaners have excelled in the cleanliness of the cottage and it was good to meet them. They are very friendly and extremely conscientious. It has excellent views across the village (following the removal of 2 ash trees in the car park below) and down to the river, where the paddle steamer can often be seen. The river gives easy access to Dartmouth and Greenway (NT).
We really enjoyed the open plan layout of this property and the modern finish. Our only suggestion (not a negative but might persuade us to stay again) would be a double bed (4 ft would be fine) or two singles in the third bedroom rather than bunk beds. Apart from that though it had everything we needed and despite the weather we had a lovely relaxing time.
We spent the August Bank holiday week with our young grand children and their parents at Lower House, West. Immediately, we felt comfortable...that is once we'd fought our way through the permanent crowd outside and in the Pigs Nose pub around the corner. Our house is part of the old farm complex and, despite the activities around the pub, it was quiet. Immediate access to paths through fields with blackberries galore down to the stony beach 15 minutes away. Plenty of space downstairs with small, gated, front garden. Good kitchen seating, a large well equipped kitchen for those wishing to ...more
The property perfectly suited our needs for a peaceful tranquil break. However the instructions on finding the car parking space and key to house left a lot to be desired. Also the steepness of the house street was understated. Only reasonably fit guests should stay as the stairs are exceptionally steep and it is a long way from the car park.
We’ve holidayed in Dartmouth many times and this house was one of the best: well-equipped, homely and a great location. The terrace garden is quiet and private and although the house sleeps 6, it’s possible to rent just the ground floor for 2 people (sole occupancy of house). Just take heed of the advice re garage size as it is fairly small and it’s not possible to leave your car on the shared drive. There is however street parking which is unrestricted after 6pm and out of season.
The cottage is beautifully located for walking and touring. We found everything we needed at the cottage - the kitchen etc. is really well equipped and it is all well presented. I'm not sure if we missed it, but we didn't appreciate until we saw the sign at the bottom of the staircase that dogs couldn't go up into the lounge (first floor) which meant that we didn't use the lounge at all and spent evenings in the kitchen watching TV on our laptop as we don't like to shut them away for the whole evening. It wasn't a real problem but I don't remember seeing that in the details - as I said I may ...more
Very spacious and thoroughly equipped with everything you could ask for. Idyllic location with beautiful gardens. Highly recommended.
Our family has stayed here many times over the past 10 years. However Dunedin is now getting very tired inside. The sofas are very aged and now very uncomfortable, the freezer is just too small and totally unsuitable for a family of 8 people. The washing machine doesnt work and an engineer could not come out until after our stay, the alternative offered was to take washing to a property at the top of the village, this is totally unacceptable due to the location. Please take note and give Dunedin some TLC as it is in one of the most beautiful places you could ever wish to spend your holiday.
Shippon End is in a great location. It is v central in Dittisham. Great river views from the top of the communal garden. We enjoyed our stay there and would visit again.
Fantastic location, car space essential, so easy to walk down to town. Great place to base yourself for some fantastic walks along the coast or inland down the estuary. If you want a bathroom on the same floor as the bedroom then this is not for you !!! We found this particularly irritating, the top bathroom ( accessible by a rickety spiral staircase) is not safe, the roof structure is low and you constantly bang your head !!!!!! Although it was a lovely break.... thank you.
All in all a good stay. Cottage very clean and well equipped. Back garden and decked area needed tidying and maintenance.Location challenging by car, very steep, narrow and parking extremely difficult. Would have appreciated more information on this prior to arrival. However we did have a relaxing time.
Dittisham as ever remains a very special place, having visited it about 12 times, normally in this cottage. Disappointed this year by the lack of basics... no salt, no pepper, one toilet roll between two toilets.... However, I can still recommend this cottage. Great position, easy and comfortable to get on with and has everything you need for an enjoyable break
A stunningly located cottage with beautiful views of the Dart. You can simply watch the comings and goings on the river from the comfortable interior or stroll down through beautifully maintained gardens to access the estuary shore and walk to the quay. This is a perfect place to escape to for peace, tranquility and lovely country walks.
With a large veg/fruit/flower garden at home our annual 2 week stays in Dartmouth are restricted to lower-maintenance late Sept/October and Upper Tremorvah was the only property to offer fantastic river views with the separate bedroom/bathroom each we prefer for our available dates. Even with the worst weather we've ever had (2 fine dry days out of 14) the river is still fascinating and the views equal to other venues we've used. This wasn't as cosy a property as others we've stayed in- (no books/games etc in evidence, some floor carpet would have been nice and curtain for the window nearer to...more
We enjoyed our stay at Bayard's, however, the accommodation was looking a bit tired in places (the radiator in the bathroom had been painted & has gone yellow/ orange, the sofas seating lacked support & both of us had back ache from the double bed mattress at the end of our stay). The location was ok some car noise with people stopping to pick up there breakfast/drinks between 7.00&9.00am from the cafe opposite.
The Apartment was a quiet and comfortable place with the added bonus of a parking place in town, if available? (Which for us ,it was ) The apartment had a lovely view over to Kingswear.
This was a very attractive property - updated and renovated to a high standard. Only negative was there was no BBQ or none that we could find Otherwise everything was wonderful. We would rent again
Lily cottage is a quaint fisherman’s cottage tucked away in a quiet spot near the town. It’s quite small as you would expect. The problems were the very poor lighting in the kitchen , there are no windows in the kitchen. Also the stairs are steep and no hand rail so a bit of a problem if you need the toilet in the night. We had a very comfortable stay there it’s nice and warm .
Fantastic house in a great location. It would be great if you could improve or replace the bath / taps in the family bathroom as it takes a really long time to fill!
This apartment is perfectly located with fantastic views up and down the Dart from the living room and master bedroom and a flat walk in and out of town (apart from 11 steps to entrance). It is comfortably furnished (if a little dated in style). Fantastic large kitchen with absolutely everything you can need (soup ladle was the only thing I needed that wasn't there!) - so much better equipped than many a rental. Just be aware that if your party comprises all adults, the smallest bedroom is rather cramped and only has a shower attachment rather than a "over the bath" shower. Ideally suited for...more
The house is very well equipped, modern, comfortable, lovely views and very well situated eat the local ship and near pubs and ferry. Really lovely place the Dart Valley. It felt like staying at a friends house rather than a rental with thin like milk, firewood, salt, toys etc available. The only problem was the WiFi credit needed recharging, which we admittedly just did ourselves rather than try contacting the agent.
Our Autumn break at Shipwrights was very relaxing. The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. It felt a little chilly at times but we took advantage of the heaters and it soon came up to temperature, The shower was hot and the beds were comfortable. We were also rewarded with a firework display from the Naval College.
The fact that the garden is not adjacent to the property meant that we didn't use it . The steps up are quite steep for older or infirm people. The property itself was comfortable and clean and everything worked.
Everything was fantastic, views stunning. Was immaculate when we arrived. Only issue beds were too hard
Comfortable and quiet. Provided all the amenities needed for a very pleasant holiday. DartValleyCottages responded well to a repair that became necessary and a working temporary fix was put in place whilst a new part ordered. Literature accurate and helpful. Would have been nice to have had some meals 'al fresco' but the weather put a stop to that. Log burner useful - cosy and warm. Locals friendly and helpful. Car-parking space very useful unlike some of the other cottages in Dittisham that don't have them.
If anyone is looking for that really peaceful holiday in order to get away from it all, then this property and location is superb. A picnic down on the Dittisham green overlooking the estuary is recommended, with toilet facilities to boot. Should anyone wish to venture out from here, then Blackpool and Slapton sands with great cafe's are not far away. We've been here before and will be back again.
This was our third stay at Stella Maris and we enjoyed a comfortable and pleasant. It is apparent that the cottage is a home and touches such as a well stocked kitchen and lots of dvds and books for us and the children are very appreciated.
We have stayed in Spindlewood quite a few times both pre and post its updating and always enjoyed being there. The facilities are good and there's plenty of crockery, cutlery etc to accommodate the guests. Parking is easily adequate for 2 cars. We have only stayed there as a couple or with our grown-up daughter. I would have to condition a recommendation to others that if you can't carry luggage up the steps you will have problems with access. Also the rear lawn is raised significantly above the patio and is not flat so young children would need to be watched and would be quite limited in...more
A comfortable and spacious house in a great location. Good views over Dartmouth. We enjoyed the use of the outdoor pool. It was a bonus to find it was heated.
Would have been useful for the housekeeper to have made the house warmer when we arrived as it was very cold and damp but DVC supplied extra heaters the next day so much appreciated. Lovely constant hot water. All the following remarks are probably negative but we did enjoy the stay and obviously the value price reflected the lack of comfort and cosiness. If the boarding in the dining area was painted cream and a rug laid it would brighten the room. Couldn’t find a dustpan and brush anywhere or a broom. The bottoms of the doors could do with planing as they are very stiff to open and close...more
Had a lovely time at Herons Reach. One slight negative it would have been nice to have a small table and chairs outside but had a lovely time thanks and spotlessly clean.
Plenty of space for an extended family in a good location. Slight aroma of dog urine around the coffee table and rug But other rooms ok. Heating and hot water excellent. Beds comfortable. Dishwasher and washing machine a bonus. All in all a comfortable property. Would return.
A lovely week at Primose Cottage in Dittisham. We loved the village and the area is truly beautiful. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming.
Once we'd parked up (my Ford Focus fitted the space but at an angle), we decided not to use the car. The road up is steep and narrow but not busy so we didn't meet anyone when arriving or departing, thankfully. There are fantastic views from the lounge and twin bedroom. The kitchen is generally well equipped (we missed pasta bowls, pint glasses and kitchen scissors); the beds were comfortable and the bath and shower both efficient. I would have preferred a more direct explanation of the layout (i.e. only one bedroom has direct same-floor access to the bathroom), so we would have been prep...more
The location of this cottage is fantastic but when we arrived at the cottage we were met with an overwhelming smell of “Wet Dogs”. Not sure if the people before had dogs but the smell was so unbearable we picked up some air freshener whilst we were out shopping! It was also not bet clean....lots of cob-webs which is to be expected in an old cottage but these had been here for some time! Also the outside shower room was awful, freezing cold, full of cob webs & damp. No heating in there at all! There was also no mention of this in the cottage description so was a littke mis-leading. The cott...more
Excellent location, easy walk to Dartmouth and Dartmouth Castle. Liked the layout and didn’t mind the workout with so many steps outside and in, felt it added to its charm but a bit tiring carrying up cases etc after a long journey and then having to move cars to Mayor Street Car Park as no available parking on the road even in Nov/ Dec but you accept this when staying some where as quaint as Dartmouth. Was warm and had everything we needed, we didn’t need to use the log burner. Great views from dinning area and the loft room. Didn’t use the patio as in Nov but could see it would be a fantasti...more
Cleanliness and Condition does not warrant an Excellent rating due to the imperfections in the ensuite and main bathroom. 1) The ensuite shower rail is adrift from the wall. The grouting around the wash basin needs refreshing. Around the base of the taps, the waste outlet and the plug hole needed more efficient cleaning. 2) The main bathroom shower door is not watertight. As a consequence the bath mat gets dripping wet and the surrounding floor area is dangerously wet. Again the base of the taps, the waste outlet and the plug hole needed more efficient cleaning. The floor is very squeaky an...more
Covers on sofas didn't fit .......................................................................................................................................
Broken kitchen window, Bedding very poor quality ,needs new pillows & bedding . No back garden to let your dog out. No personal touch as we have always received from staying in all other properties.
We spent a few days at Barton Cottage in late October. We enjoyed the walk from the cottage into Dartmouth along the Dart Valley trail, returning to Dittisham via the ferry, then the short walk back along the lanes and across the fields to East Cornworthy. Beautiful scenery.
