Everything about Gamekeepers Cottage at Rivercatcher was first-class. There genuinely wasn’t a single thing to fault. The cleanliness was impeccable, the attention to detail outstanding, and the thoughtful extras throughout made it feel like a truly special home from home. I could say so much more, but this is one of those places you really need to experience for yourself. 100% recommended — and already have done. We will definitely be back.
Having visited before we knew that Cilan Farmhouse would suit our family group. Plenty of room for everyone, quiet spaces if you’d like some time to yourself, fully equipped kitchen with no shortage of mugs/glasses/crockery etc. Views from the hot tub on a crisp, sunny winters morning are fabulous. We heard an owl very close by twice whilst sitting in the tub. Games room with ping pong and table football gives the kids somewhere to burn off some energy. We visited Llangollen, Bala and Betws-y-Coed and found nice places to eat in all locations. Apparently there are Otters to be seen in the Rive...more
This was our 7th visit to Rivercatcher and we are never disappointed. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, and our accommodation was very warm and cosy despite snow and freezing conditions. Wonderful to be able to sit in the hot tub and see the stars in the night sky - bliss.
Beautiful cottages along side the river, quiet and well equipped for everything you need. Great location for the dogs to walk from door step. We have stayed in two cottages here now and loved them both.
We stayed for a long weekend at Rivercatcher in the Gezzelig log cabin - it was a lovely break, the lodge is really well laid out, very comfortable and cosy. We really enjoyed the hot tub, which was very clean and tidy (and was maintained every day by the staff, to make sure it stayed that way). All round a lovely stay in a beautiful spot.
We’ve stayed at Rivercatcher 10 times now in the last 5 years despite it being just over an hour from where we live in North Wales. That says it all really - it’s our little piece of heaven, a place where we slip into relaxation mode from the minute we arrive. Flyfisher’s cottage is lovely, set right next to the river Dee, which on this occasion was in full flood so even more spectacular. What makes this place special though is the team. Andy is always helpful and available when on site, Aled is now our friend and is such a lovely, knowledgable bloke who will always be around to sort stuff ou...more
Our family holiday was made so comfortable by staying here. We felt right at home straightaway and was able to have a grocery delivered to us. The hot tub was enjoyed everyday: evening, in the day and even on one occasion in the rain! This was the second time we have stayed here, and we’d do it again.
We had the most amazing week away lodge was pure luxury everything need catered for we will be back
We’ve visited Rivercatcher around 4 times now and this visit was a little disappointing. The cabin seemed “tired” with hooks loose on the walls and cabinet doors not closing properly. The cabin cleanliness was also not to the normal standard. The fridge smelt like sour milk, cobwebs all over the beams and the glasses were caked in dust in the cupboard. Some maintenance and a deep clean is needed.
