We were excited to stay in Penlarach having stayed here many times around 10-15 years ago and we were not disappointed. The new owners have done a fabulous job of upgrading and remodelling the house which is very comfortable and superbly appointed. Highly recommended
The first thing we noticed about Saltspring Lodge was the view. You can see right down the glen to the sea loch at the bottom. We never got tired of it. The lodge itself is brand new and had everything we needed for a week with two young children. A lovely kitchen and sitting room, and a handy utility room downstairs, with a big double room and a loo. Upstairs was the master bedroom and an en suite. All were beautifully presented and spotless. Briefly - the cottage is perfect. Beautiful location, extremely comfortable beds, all amenities provided, interesting books, warm stove, incredible garden and views, responsive host. Already looking to book again; highly recommended.
Lovely apartment with stunning view of the bay, and location couldn't be more convenient. Property manager has been very responsive and helpful throughout booking process and my stay. My only problems were figuring out how to operate oven and clothes washer, but ultimately able to sort it.
Great house and great location it has everything you need for a relaxing peaceful break the owners were so helpful too would definitely recommend 10/10.

2 out of 3 night stay ruined by intruder alarm activation in the night from restaurant below. We phoned police who had no key holder so on the 2nd night the alarm went on/off for over 2hrs. We phoned our emergency contact person at 23.30 who said all he could do was contact restaurant in morning!!! We phoned, emailed, direct messaged restaurant and have had no response. We spoke to a manager in person in rest the next day to were told they were trying to get alarm fixed. The word sorry wasnt expressed!! This is a very comfortable, clean, well equipped house. The location is stunning. The owners are friendly, helpful and unobtrusive. I walk with a stroller and found the house user friendly. Bed not too high, lavatory not too low, shower with just a small step in. The guest book was full of folk saying it was their umpteenth visit. We can understand why. If you are looking for a cottage in this area you are unlikely to find a better spot.
Marvellous location with great views. Well appointed, clean andpeaceful. We lacked for nothing and hope to return.
The house is an ideal size for a large group and the living area really lends itself to socialising. The surrounding area is also stunning, even on those grey and wet days. A short drive to Oban, and while on a single track road there are plenty of passing places making it stress free. The house manager is also extremely helpful and welcoming should you need to contact him!
This is our second visit to Tigh Beg and we were lucky enough to have 2 weeks there this time. The weather was great for us. We only had one outing and spent the rest of the time quietly roaming the shoreline or watching wildlife and the view from the cottage. Such a special place! We saw otters, seals, pine martin, eagles, hen harriers and so many other birds. The long, rough driveway was a bit worse than last year.
