Set in Scotland in the Fife countryside, just 10 miles from St Andrews and 5 miles from Dundee, Sandford Country Cottages are luxury self-catering cottages which are part of Sandford House, a 'B' Listed Arts and Crafts House designed by Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott around 1902.
The cottages have been restored with Arts and Crafts features such as oak beams and posts. Two and three bedroom properties are available and all bedrooms are en-suite, with either a bath or a walk-in shower, both are fitted with Trevi rainwater showers.
In the living areas you'll find spacious open plan kitchen/living/dining rooms with oak beams and posts, comfy seating and a dining table and chairs. There is also a flat screen TV and an iPod dock. The kitchens are fully fitted with modern appliances.
All properties have oil central heating and a wood burning stove. Electricity, heating and one basket of logs is included in the rental cost, additional logs can be purchased from the office. WiFi is free.
We stayed in Red Squirrel, Sandford Country Cottages for a few days. It was absolutely delightful - from Evelyn’s warm welcome (including breakfast foods, coffee, tea and biscuits) to the very comfy bed and lovely, beautifully designed living area. It was also very peaceful. Strongly recommended by us for a holiday all year round.
We enjoyed a family Christmas for 12 of us between the two apartments - Giddy Limit and Lady Bluebell. Evelyn and Ralph were so thoughtful and friendly throughout the planning stages and visit, helping us to meet the needs of our group aged 13 - 83 and even providing a lovely dog bed for Coco! Under their guidance, we enjoyed morning runs down the footpath to the lake, visits to Dundee and St Andrews, a meal at The View and the midnight service at Wormit Church on Christmas Eve! Everything about the apartments felt luxurious and we were even more impressed when we watched the DVD showing ho...more
Really comfortable stay at Valentines again. Grandchildren, who came for lunch, really enjoyed themselves running around outside and Evelyn was her normally helpful self. On the first evening we lit the stove as it was pretty chilly outside but frankly the central heating was more than adequate.
A group of us stayed in the Giddy Limit over a weekend and had a fabulous time! The apartments are immaculate and were fantastically equipped for your stay with a lovely basket of goodies on arrival. The little balcony area was such a lovely peaceful place to have a morning coffee and just enjoy the fresh air. Great location with not too far to go for local amenities and day trips as well. Thanks Evelyn and Ralph for a wonderful stay!
