Set in Scotland in the Fife countryside, just 10 miles from St Andrews and 5 miles from Dundee, Sandford Country Cottages are luxury self-catering cottages & apartments which are part of Sandford House, a 'B' Listed Arts and Crafts House designed by Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott around 1902.
The properties have been restored with Arts and Crafts features such as oak beams and posts. One, two and three bedroom properties are available and all bedrooms are en-suite, with either a bath or a walk-in shower, and all are fitted with Trevi rainwater showers.
In the living areas you'll find spacious open plan kitchen/living/dining rooms with oak beams and posts, comfy seating and a dining table and chairs. There is also a flat screen TV and an iPod dock or Sonos sound system. The kitchens are fully fitted with modern appliances.
All properties have oil central heating and a wood burning stove (except Red Squirrel). Electricity, heating and one basket of logs is included in the rental cost, additional logs can be purchased from the office. Superfast WiFi is free.
My husband and I stayed with our daughter in Valentine Cottage while we were busy moving her into her first year dorm at University of St. Andrews. The tranquil location of Sanford House was ideal, surrounded by the peaceful pastoral beauty of farmed fields, while minutes away from terrific cafes and restaurants in Newport on Tay. We chose Lady Bluebell because our Westie - Poppy, could stay and it was an excellent choice. Lovely bedrooms and all en suite and a huge living room / kitchen area, all in immaculate condition. Would highly recommend it.
We found Sandford Country Cottages to be in a very peaceful setting. Our cottage was spotlessly clean on arrival and was very spacious. The cottages are in a great location for Dundee, St. Andrews and the East Coast of Scotland. The house and cottages are an interesting piece of Arts and Crafts history and Evelyn, the owner, was happy to talk about their renovation, to show us what they have done in the part of the property which is their own house and to talk about what she knows of the history of the place. All in all, a good place to stay.
We stayed at the property as part of a larger group and found the apartments to be in excellent condition. The welcome basket provided was a lovely touch and the hosts were very helpful if and when we had any specific queries. The location was very handy for getting to St Andrews and we would definitely recommend staying here to anyone who is looking for high quality accommodation in this area.
