Magnificent suite on two floors. Ground has charming sitting room with views over the lake, a dining room where you are served a sumptuous breakfast and kitchen. Upstairs there’s another smaller sitting room with m spectacular views and two luxurious and comfortable bedrooms. My favourite was the bathroom with deep bath looking out over the lake. What a marvellous beat to enjoy a good soak. Stefan and Blair who looked after us during our stay were attentive and helpful. Beautiful property with all you need for a wonderful stay. Great space for dining, kitchen well equipped, beds super comfy and lovely to have the log burner to add to that cosy feel.
Set on a wonderful estate. Accommodation was first class, everything we needed for a short break was provided. A surprise snow fall whilst we were there but the staff cleared and salted the area. Staff on site to ensure we were well catered for. Excellent location for Chester. Would recommend a visit
This was our second Christmas at Combermere and is was just perfect . Rachel was so knowledgeable and helpful, the cottage was beautiful and perfect for 6 and more ! Really well equipped. We lacked nothing at all . The only thing was the TV decided not to play and the gas log fire wouldn’t light.It didn’t stop us from having a great time .When mentioned to the staff they said we should have rang them even on Christmas Day ! The service was impeccable. Thank you so much and will rebook for next Christmas
Driving up a long drive with lush meadows on either side starts to prepare you for something special. Empress cottage is set in a stables courtyard that has been renovated to house a number of luxury cottages. Empress is warm and cosy and decorated in muted gentle colours that immediately add to the feeling of relaxation. There’s a sitting room with two comfy sofas and wood burning stove and a generous sized dining table. The kitchen is very well equipped. Whilst we love the estate and this has been bringing us back for well over a decade the cottages decor & furnishings are not as good in Callander as on the photos & on previous stays - clearly with repacement mismatching furniture/decor downstairs. The cupboard with the TV does not look good at all. The cushions are tired, I could go on. We missed the fresh flowers and magazines previously available and even the biscuits were cheaper. Excellent time at Combermere as ever. Cottage was beautifully clean and very comfortable. A little disappointed that we couldn’t get the DVD player to work and the safety torch didn’t work - small things but if they are there you expect them to be useable. On the whole still one of our favourite places for a short break!
Been our 4th or 5th time back here at Combermere. Love it. Would definitely recommend for those wanting to escape!
A lovely gatehouse cottage on the edge of the Combermere Abbey estate. The property was warm and well equipped with everything we needed for a three night stay. The garden was large and secure once the gates on the drive were closed. Lots of room for our Westie to run around. Would highly recommend the nearby Combermere Arms and the Swan at Marbury for above average food and service. The Old Piggery just up the road served a great lunch of German sausages with potato salad and is dog friendly too.
Really enjoyable stay on the whole, it’s not 5 star luxury (some of the furniture is a bit dated like the sofa and carpet a bit worn etc.) but it’s a perfectly comfortable cosy cottage stay… clean, tidy and pretty much has all you need. It’s a shame they didn’t put more info about local walking routes in the area, it’s quite a remote location and people don’t always want to drive out, so would be useful especially with the dog. It was nice and relaxing, I’d recommend to a friend.
