We recently stayed in Hexham House Apartments during our wedding in June, we had exclusive hire of all 7 apartments and each and every one of them was equally beautiful and very comfortable, our guests loved them, it made it so easy to have all of our guests together in the same place for 2 nights. Parking was easy and it was lovely for our guests to have so many places to walk to just a few minutes away. We would definitely recommend and I hope we get to return sometime. Thank you to Sam and Vicky for making everything run so smoothly.
Everything was just perfect. The service, the treehouse, very comfortable and an amazing romantic escape.
This is the second time we have visited The Steadings and we are already planning our third visit. We arrived to some lovely welcome gifts (Fresh Northumberland coffee, Beers, jam, chutney and biscuits) which were all locally sourced. The accommodation is extremely clean and well kept. It is like a home away from home.
I booked to stay here for an engagement party in Hexham close to Hexham House. I wasn't too sure what to expect but this apartment was absolutely stunning. The kitchen/living room was a really nice size, very bright and was well-stocked. The bedroom was also brilliant and I slept like a dream both nights. I cannot wait to come back!
Stayed in Apt 5 for my sister’s wedding weekend; it was lovely; well layed out and spacious. Considered those little extras. We overlooking the gardens which made it even better.
I stayed here for a weekend and can definitely recommend it for a peaceful stay. The countryside is beautiful - the cottage isn’t in a village so worth bearing in mind if you need to be in walking distance of shops etc. The studio is lovely - well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable. There is an outdoor area with table and chairs too. A welcome pack of local products was a lovely touch too. Great place!
Another great stay thanks to Wooden star cottages. The. Byres is perfectly situated for the Bellingham Show, Kielder Marathon Northumberland 250. Fabulous bar and restaurant on site and a beautiful gallery full of local products, art, crafts foods and a coffee shop Loved the welcome hamper too tea coffee and biscuits perfect thank you Highly recommend Sam and Vicky from Woodenstar they go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. We wouldn’t book with anyone else
We stayed in Steadings 1 and 2 as a group of six adults. The accommodation was in good condition, clean and well equipped. Bedrooms were comfortable, quiet and spacious. It is located adjacent to Boe Rigg restaurant and campsite, the food (and beer) in the restaurant were very good. The Steadings are ideally placed for trips to Kielder, the Roman Wall and touring Northumberland. Bellingham is 10 minutes away down the road. I would definitely recommend this property to others.
We had a fantastic family gathering at the West Grange Estate with up to 24 guests over the week age ranges 2-73! A great space Good for in house catering and we could all eat together in the large dining room or out on the patio/ BBQ are. We even lit the fire some evenings in the sitting room due to lousy British summer weather! Well equipped Plenty of outside space for games and socialising Amazing walks and beaches in the area Easy and secure for our golden retriever Would definitely recommend it
The apartment was lovely and had everything you needed for a great stay, a fully equipped kitchen and a comfy bed. The location was perfect, overlooking the gardens and Hexham Abbey, great views from the windows it could not have been better. It is a short stroll to the shops and a lovely park. This is my second visit to Hexham House apartments and it will not be my last.

This cottage was an absolute gem! We booked directly with Sam over the phone. She was incredibly friendly and even managed to secure a fantastic last-minute deal for us. While the location offered a true escape from the hustle and bustle, it wasn't overly isolated. We found it conveniently located for grabbing a quick meal when needed. We have stayed in this cottage for the last three years when visiting our friends in Hexham and we love it. The location couldn’t be better and it is so clean and comfortable. The cottage has everything you need and you don’t need to rush off to the supermarket on arrival as all essentials are provided - we all look forward to the Welcome Pack! We definitely will be booking again.
We stayed at the Woodworkers cottage for a long weekend in December. We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and found the owners to be very accommodating for us, providing stair gate and high chair. The cottage was nicely furnished and had a log burner with wood and firefighters provided. We would definitely look to stay again when we next visit Northumberland.
Brilliant cottages. Lovely setting. Very clean and very well stocked with the individual kitchens. We had all four cottages as part of a group and we’re very impressed with the campsite and the properties. Good outdoor area as well for drinks. Even had an email checking up on how the stay was after a night which was a lovely touch. Only minor bit of feedback was the tv channels were only BBC and couldn’t download the ITV app for the rugby but that’s minor and didn’t take away from the beautiful stay we all had. We had a great week at Charlton Gate. It is a wonderful location and nice and quiet. The property had everything needed and even a few things we hadn't thought of. Everything worked well although a few things might need updating in the near future (some items in the kitchen and the armchairs in the living room lack a bit of support). One other comment - As this is on a working farm, there can be a few flies about. Not a problem, but the property could do with a supply of fly paper (or similar). Other than that, a great place to stay and we'd be happy to come again.
My daughter stayed here whilst we were in Apartment 1. It was a beautiful space and she was very comfortable.
We absolutely loved staying here for our wedding day. The apartment was exceptionally clean, of high standard and a great size. Our only regret is that we didn’t book to stay for much longer. Our family stayed in the smaller apartments which were still surprising big and all said the same! We shall definitely stay again at Hexham House in the future - either for an anniversary or just a break. This is now a very special place to us!
Sam and Vicky were so accommodating, they went above and beyond to make our complex booking over various dates work in as smooth a way as possible. Taking time to reorganise and best accommodate when we needed to keep coming back to them. Communications before, during and after booking was second to none. Thought the accommodation was fantastic, those deep windowsills, with light and green views to the back were so peaceful.
We had a wonderful stay at Hollin House to celebrate my Mum’s 80th. The house is well equipped and very comfortable. Beds were great! Highly recommend.
We were lucky with the weather and thrilled to see the Aurora Borealis from the Coach House. The garden was huge but steps down not suitable for people with mobility issues. There is a side gate. My Grandson was thrilled to find the communal Football Goal in the sunken garden. The only recommendation would be to improve the lighting in the kitchen - it was a challenge to read cooking instructions but I did manage to cook a roast dinner! Overall a very special find.
A wonderful stay in beautiful surroundings. It was the second time we stayed and we will repeat in the future!
We have had a fabulous long weekend away and from beginning to end the correspondence was excellent. Thanks Sam. Having exclusive use of roses bower was perfect. All The accommodation was in excellent condition and very clean and comfortable. We could all gather together in drum barn to socialise and eat together. Would highly recommend booking. It’s been perfect. The queens head in the nearby village is worth a visit for drinks and food. It’s about a 20 min walk.
The Drum Barn was great for our group of 4 couples, with all ensuite bedrooms and plenty of communal space. Communication was excellent before we arrived, and while the location was rural, great for a base for exploring. We didn't get the weather, but a mile walk to the local pub would be well advised. Would stay again without hesitation. Good info in welcome book, only criticism, instructions for heating could be better
Booked last minute as a convenient stop on a long journey. Really pleased that we did. Great place, well equipped, beautiful surroundings and an on-site bar and restaurant. Perfect. Will definitely go back.
Sam and Vicky are lovely hosts and the cottage is the real deal, comfortably having place for a large group. The walks and the sheer calm in this place is amazing. It is close to Hexham and Corbridge. We also visited the Hadrian wall sites. One recommendation for anyone coming here is to go and sample the ale and beer at Twice Brewed inn. Finally the herb garden in the cottage is something else. This was a special find.
I've stayed here with my family a couple of times now and we always have a wonderful stay. The cottage is comfortable and cozy, with plenty of space for four people. Whilst it's on the edge of the campsite, the cottages are quiet and reasonably private. The enclosed outside space is fantastic if you're bringing a dog, and a great bonus if the weather is nice. Wooden Star have always been brilliant to book with too, Sam in particular has been very helpful and checked in via email during our stay to make sure everything was okay. The welcome package is a lovely touch, which we always enjoy.
Wooden star were great to book with and quickly responded to any requests and queries. The cottage was beautiful in a lovely quiet area. Kitchen very well equipped and instructions were provided for everything by way of a link easily accessed on your phone. No phone signal at all for us on EE but the wifi was excellent so it didn’t worry us. Large lounge with lots of seating which was very comfortable. Beds were lovely quality and equally as comfortable and we all slept well. We were in the area for a wedding so The Hayloft was an ideal place for our three families (8 people) to stay. Had everything we needed and is in lovely part of the country. WIFI wasn't great but that wasn't an issue for us (it may be for others). Would certainly return if the opprtunity arises.
