Greystead Old Church is a stunning, four-bedroom architect-designed conversion of an early 19th-century, Grade II listed church in the heart of the North Tyne Valley, just yards from the banks of the North Tyne river, and only 4 miles from Kielder Water. This well-established holiday home is a proud winner of several awards, including a Visit England ROSE Award and a Visit England 5-Star Gold Award, making it an exceptional destination for visitors seeking both comfort and heritage.

There were three generations of us staying at the church to celebrate a 40th birthday so ranging in age from 8 months to 73 years. The facilities provided were excellent, the kitchen was well equipped and enormous! It was nice having the seating areas upstairs as well as downstairs because while we were cooking and preparing meals everyone could be involved. It was also very easy to communicate with anyone downstairs because the mezzanine was open at either end. The bedrooms were very comfortable, clean and cosy and we all slept well.

For such a big open space the heating kept it lovely and warm, we didn't have the best weather but never felt cold. We sat downstairs in the evening once the children were in bed and it was very comfortable.

There were fantastic views from the bell tower, it was a bit colder up there but only to be expected! I imagine it would be a lovely place to escape to if it was hot outside. Peaceful and quiet so a haven for anyone wanting a few minutes to themselves.

The area is lovely, very quiet and dark, with plenty of walking and other activities to keep everyone happy. We visited Hadrian's Wall at The Sill, the Kielder Observatory, Kielder Water and Alnwick.

The host lives on site in another property and when we had a problem with one of the toilets she responded immediately and dealt with the matter so the service was excellent.

Overall I can't fault the old church as a place to stay and would heartily recommend it as a location for a getaway.
