Unique 16th-century one-bedroom bolthole, believed to have been constructed in the latter half of the 16th Century, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth 1 and the time of the Spanish Armada. Sympathetically renovated to make use of the available space, and wherever possible, to make use of sustainable materials to retrofit. Located within a 10-minute drive of Hadrian's Wall and Vindolanda.

We stayed at Bastle House for a short break. The property is unique and has been sustainably renovated in keeping with its history. It was extremely clean and well appointed. The location is perfect for Hexham, Corbridge and Newcastle. The downside was the bedroom which has little in the way of window coverage so if you need a dark room in which to sleep this is not for you (eye masks were provided but these are not for everybody)

I had a nice stay at the Bastle House. The accommodation was compact but had everything we needed and felt comfortable throughout my stay. The location was nice — very quiet, peaceful and a great place to relax for a few days.

It worked really well for a short stay and would be ideal for a single traveller or a couple looking for a small base to explore the surrounding area. The property had plenty of character and felt well looked after. Overall, a very enjoyable stay and I'd happily recommend it.
