Fabulous accommodation! Hosts were great. Worth every penny! We booked the cottage and the Hall and it all was just perfect
The location is great, hidden away on the edge of its own little woodland. The property is perfect for a getaway and a relax surrounded by nature.
We stayed for a long weekend in 1 The Steadings. We were kept up to date on our booking throughout our stay by Sam and Vicky. Cottage was spotlessly clean and welcoming. Everything you need for a home from home. Lovely en suite bedrooms with walk in showers. Fabulous views from your armchair. Highly recommend if you are looking for a peaceful retreat
Amazing apartment. We hired all 7 for the wedding party and every apartment was beautiful. Great for our wedding day.
Lovely 3 night stay in this well-appointed and well positioned apartment. Ideal location for exploring Hexham and provision of a parking space was a bonus. The apartment was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed; the goody bag was a lovely addition. Pubs, restaurants and shops all within walking distance. Would defintely stay again if back in Hexham for any reason.
An amazing location with gorgeous grand decor! Lovely comfy beds and bedding. Lots of room for a big group to cook and socialise. Beautiful garden for a fun bootcamp or a place to sit in the sun. Communication from hosts and owner was excellent. Perfect place to celebrate something special or just to get a lot of friends together.
This is the 7th time we've stayed in the beautiful restored Hexham House overlooking the stunning gardens and bowling green of the park. As usual very high standards of cleanliness are maintained and the apartment contains everything you need for a wonderfully comfortable stay. We always stay a week as there is SO much to do in the surrounding area either walking, cycling, public transport or in the car. Sam and Vicky of Wooden Star cottages do a fantastic job, always easy to contact and the bag of local treats is also welcome. Thanks ladies and looking forward to our 8th stay!! ⭐️
We had a fabulous stay, very impressed with the renovation and decor. The property is well equipped, beds were firm but comfortable, decent pillows and great towels! We particularly liked how everything was good quality and of a high standard. We had a small issue on arrival but the team dealt with this promptly and efficiently. Would definitely stay here again and at their other properties.
Our second visit and as good as the first. Great facilities with a room and en-suite each and plenty of room for socialising, cooking and eating together. Couple of points: The downstairs toilet in Steadings 2 doesn’t flush properly. Heaters in The Byers 1 & 2 need attention as not all were working. Mirrors in bedrooms for hair drying etc would be helpful. We loved it again. And we even got the dark skies too!
The tiny cottage It's very well presented one bedroom property, the blend of complete off-road and off grid give this property And anyone saying that a unique experience. 4x4 is definitely essential if it's been raining! the track is very narrow and gets very boggy. the property itself is very pretty and quaint And whilst it's very small it is perfect if you're thinking of a hiking or adventure holiday. the garden is enclosed and the swimming like he's just round the corner If you are brave enough to do so! we found lots of local shops and things to do And the area has a lot to offer. with Sco...more
Stayed 2 nights in the Steadings with 2 couples, 3 kids aged 9 to 13. The linked cottages filled the bill as it was roomy, well equipped and quiet. The Boe Rigg restaurant and pub on site was great too as was the craft/ gift shop.
Three families on our annual getaway together. We normally travel to the Lakes, the highlands or Wales, but fancied somewhere different this year. Hollin House ticked all the boxes. If you’re looking for somewhere touristy close to towns, shops and restaurants then this isn’t the place for you. If you prefer serene comfort situated miles down single track lanes where sheep and cows wander aimlessly, where the evenings are filled with bats, owls and billions of stars, then you couldn’t ask for a better location. We will, without question, be back!
Everything required for a comfortable stay. Even a slow cooker, and set of kitchen scales so I was able to do some baking.
It’s the third time we’ve stayed at Hexham House, in apartments 4 and 7. The high standards have not changed at all, we will no doubt be booking again. Excellent communication, accommodation and location.
Beautiful place in a perfect location, very clean and even a goodie bag on arrival. The communication went smooth and I would highly recommend Thanks Aden
One of the best locations you could ever have a gathering in. The space is truly palatial - no photos will do the ceiling height justice. Sam from Wooden Star was excellent at providing instructions and very responsive throughout the whole process. We were extremely lucky with the weather and managed to get some walking done on the nearby trails, conveniently to the pub! The castle provides lighter paper and wood for cosy fireside whiskey and boardgames if it’s raining. We will absolutely be back to stay at Beaufront again.
We had the most perfect stay. Each apartment was so beautiful. We are arrived late and it was such a treat to step into somewhere so lovely and warm and luxurious. The location was perfect and the view from the windows over the bowling green was just gorgeous. My mum was taking a trip back to her home town and the apartment made the whole weekend for our party of 11. We will hopefully stay some time again. Thanks Caroline
We stayed at the Woodworkers cottage for a long weekend in December. We really enjoyed our stay at the cottage and found the owners to be very accommodating for us, providing stair gate and high chair. The cottage was nicely furnished and had a log burner with wood and firefighters provided. We would definitely look to stay again when we next visit Northumberland.
Fabulous apartment, very spacious and central. Loved the welcome treats and the contact & information from the owners was spot on. Decor & facilities lovely and all amenities catered for. Fabulous view from the bedroom over the gardens. Spotlessly clean. I will recommend to friends and wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Thank you.
We stayed in apartment 3 of Hexham House and the accommodation was great for the 4 of us. The bedrooms are a good size and the beds are comfy. The apartment was clean and had a very well equipped kitchen. I loved that they provided everything you’d need including dishwasher tablets and even washing detergent. Towels too which makes things so much easier. They had left some tea coffee milk biscuits crisps and prosecco in the fridge which was a lovely touch. My only minor suggestion would be that they have the upholstery cleaned as there were some marks on the sofas that did detract from the...more
The Byers are two converted cow byres, the conversion has been done very well and the cottages are very comfortable, well equipped and cosy. Good shower room with loads of hot water. Plenty of car parking space. There was some confusion about the accommodation on arrival but the owners were very helpful and efficient and sorted out my query very quickly and satisfactorily. I would stay with Wooden Star Cottages again without hesitation.
This was our second stay at the Coach House. It is a truly lovely house to stay in and explore the stunning countryside of Northumberland. Our dog loves the large, secure garden and we enjoyed the apples from the trees! The owners were wonderful in resolving any issues and their warmth enhances staying in this beautiful place. We can’t wait to come again.
These cottages and the barn were perfect for our wedding. Sam and Vicky were brilliant in helping us with our queries and we were delighted with how it all went in the day. It is in a beautiful location and all of the rooms and surrounding outdoor spaces were perfect for us and our guests.
Stayed at the Studio for two nights to attend a nearby wedding - would love to come back to explore the area. The apartment has everything we needed and is really clean and comfortable, ideal for two people. Lovely quiet location in beautiful countryside.
We had a fabulous stay at Drum Barn. It’s a great house in a beautiful location with everything that we needed. Plenty of bathrooms, very comfy beds and spacious cooking and dining areas. Would go again.
We had a great stay at 2 The Steadings. Perfect home away from home. Excellent communication with the owners throughout from booking to leaving. Thank you
The second time we've stayed at this beautiful farmhouse and it didn't disappoint. Really well appointed, fantastic location (close to Corbridge and Hexham, but feels rural and remote) with beautiful views from all windows across the Northumberland countryside. The house is finished to a very high standard and feels luxurious yet homely. We stayed as an extended family on both occasions and it works perfectly. Highly recommend.
No 2 The Byre was a wonderful quiet place to stay with my dog Norman. The accommodation had everything we needed and was peaceful and secure. Would definitely stay again.
The Stables is a very comfortable cottage in a great location. It was very peaceful and we looked forward to seeing the sheep and ducks when we opened the curtains each morning. It is within 30 minute drive of a number of Hadrian Wall attractions and Hexham which was worth a visit. The Welcome bag from Wooden Star Cottages was a nice surprise.
From the moment I arrived at Charlton Gate, I felt completely at home. The property was immaculately clean, beautifully maintained, and full of thoughtful touches that made my stay truly special. Every room was comfortable and inviting, with a perfect blend of charm and practicality. Customer service was exceptional—friendly, responsive, and genuinely caring. The location was ideal for peaceful countryside walks and cozy evenings in, yet close enough to explore nearby attractions. I especially appreciated the attention to detail throughout—from the well-equipped kitchen to the plus...more
We were in the area for a wedding so The Hayloft was an ideal place for our three families (8 people) to stay. Had everything we needed and is in lovely part of the country. WIFI wasn't great but that wasn't an issue for us (it may be for others). Would certainly return if the opprtunity arises.
