Its a surprise to find a cottage better in real life than on the website photos due to the inevitable wear and tear that occurs, but this one is an exception. We were very impressed with every aspect of our stay at Drumlanrig, from the incredibly helpful and friendly Erin who dealt with our booking ,the welcoming touches on our arrival, and the luxury quality of the bedding and linens. The Mains House we stayed in was decorated beautifully. We wouldn’t hesitate book another stay in the future, and would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.
What a stunning place to stay. Lots of lovely walking with beautiful scenery. The accommodation was very well presented and nothing was lacking. We felt very much at home and were reluctant to leave. Will be going again.
We loved our stay here. Comfortable, well appointed, clean and situated on the beautiful castle estate. The only down side was a security light in the courtyard which made the bedroom too light at night. I gave feedback to the estate; this could be improved by changing it to downlighting.
Ghillies cottage is perfect, gorgeous views and the cottage had everything we needed. My children loved the garden games and had run playing badminton. The bathroom and roll top was lovely. Only negative thing to say was that we had to pick up three dog poos in the garden on our arrival, and the kitchen had a few flies in. Other than that I would recommend the cottage as a base to go walking or cycling. Not a lot else in the area, drumlanrig castle was fabulous
