If you like delving deep into history, soaking up the finest culture, exploring beautiful countryside – or adrenaline-fuelled mountain biking – you’ll love a day at Drumlanrig Castle, and now you can stay there too!
Having visited the castle and grounds a number of times as a kid - and loved it everytime! - having the opportunity to stay there was a dream come true! The East Wing was absolutely stunning - beautifully appointed and decorated - it was sheer luxury! The Castle and grounds were very quiet when we visited (October 2025) - and that just added to the thrill of feeling like we were the only people there! Exploring the grounds with the dog over the few days we stayed was just amazing, as the autumnal colours started to show - and the Gardens! WOW!!!
We.Will. Be. Back!!! A LOT!
A family get together to celebrate a big birthday made more special by the comfortable, well appointed cottage. Clean and bright with all mod cons and spotlessly clean. Hot tub was an added bonus and fun to stoke fire to heat it. Was a luxury to sit in the bubbles while taking in beautiful landscape. Family enjoyed a tour of castle with the very knowledgeable Stuart topped off with a roast beef dinner in cafe. Dogs were welcome and enjoyed the walks down the river. All in all a very special break. We will recommend to others.
We stayed at the laundry cottage got 3 nights with our family to celebrate a 60th birthday. The cottage is extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The decor is beautiful. We all made good use of the hot tub. There are plenty walks which are well sign posted and allow you to enjoy the amazing scenery. Would definitely recommend the Laundry cottage for a short break.
Cottage was like a luxury hotel, welcome pack was excellent. Comfortable, clean and well equipped. Access to all the castle grounds and walks was an added bonus ,also close to other attractions and amenities.
This was our first visit to Drumlanrig Castle and we were very pleased with every aspect of our stay. We will certainly consider a return to enjoy the hospitality provided.
The lounge furniture in Queensbury is no where near as comfortable as Mains cortage. If you would like to chill out on a winters evening the chairs and sofa in Queensbury are very uncomfortable. We also found the front room very dark - if you like to read or do any craft work it is very difficult in the lighting provided. We brought lamps from upstairs. The bins in both our bathrooms were not emptied and contained sanitary wear and rotten banana skins. When I told baccleugh estate about it they basically said so sorry - hope you come again!
