Clean, tidy and very comfortable. The cottage is magical, with excellent facilities and utilities, that will make it tempting to stay indoors all day! However the village is worth visiting in itself, and there's some fantastic pubs within walking distance, serving excellent food at an affordable price.
Charming & very comfortable lodge equipped with everything you need. Lovely village & an excellent location to explore the area
Belchamp Hall mill is set in a beautiful and peaceful location with a lovely interior, enhanced by the owners’ amazing paintings. It was ideal for our anniversary getaway, and well located for the interesting places Suffolk has to offer. Thank you.
Box Valley Cottage is gorgeous. It was spotlessly clean, very stylish, warm, comfortable and very well equipped. The cottage even smelt lovely as we walked through the front door! The colours, fabrics, and furnishings make the cottage a very relaxing and calm space to enjoy. The garden is secluded and peaceful with plenty of seating. The only noise came from the birds and local cows. The garden is fully enclosed so you can relax if you have a dog with you (although the back wall/fence is not particularly high if you have a large dog!) We found the village to be attractive and quiet, with friend...more
We have stayed at the old post office numerous times in the past. But due to covid had not been for a few years. It did not dissappoint. When you arrive there is a lovely welcome pack with various sweet treats. The house is spotlessly clean, warm and inviting set in beautifully maintained grounds. We spent 10 days there with our dogs and family and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Chris, the site manager was always available to answer questions and help if needed and his team were friendly without being intrusive. Our dogs were made to feel welcome.
The accommodation was fantastic, the location amazing what a great time we had. Would definitely recommend for a lazy tranquil holiday. Next time hoping to stay in the Mill.
Had a bit of a job finding our accommodation- so maybe put up a few more signs. Otherwise it was fabulous
The Silos is situated in a lovely, very peaceful countryside setting although it was only a couple of miles from a town. We really enjoyed watching pheasants, rabbits, hares and even a deer from the windows. We were very comfortable there and it would be one of the few places we would be happy to return to.
Quirky town, quirky pad. Lovely place to stay and lovely place to stay in. Would recommend a visit.
As always everything was great. Even the weather! The house is very spacious and the garden and the surroundings are just wonderful. Charlie and Christopher did an excellent service. This is the second time we stayed in Higham Place Lodge we will come again, but I can recommend the outher houses/cottages aswell. When you decide to rent with Idyllic Cottages it is always agreat value for the money and every house/cottage is very individually and high class decorated. It feels more than a second home than as a holiday home:-)
We had a lovely relaxing stay at the cartlodge. We hadn't been to the area before and it was the perfect location for visiting many National Trust properties as well as other interesting places. The lodge itself is well appointed with a very comfy bed, lovely garden and view of the church. Only one suggestion, maybe the sofas in the living room could do with a change as they are very low and not ideal for anyone older or with back or knee problems. But apart from that 5 stars!
Belchamp Hall Hayloft is a beautiful, spacious property in the peaceful Suffolk countryside, and we also enjoyed the opportunity to use the walking trails on the Estate and to visit the little church. The apartment is beautifully designed, it was lovely to have our own garden with tables and chairs (great for afternoon tea and drinks on the lawn!) and the shared tennis court behind the walled garden was a surprise treat. This was our first visit to Suffolk, and we felt so lucky to have found such a beautiful location and property for our stay, which made it even more special.
First impressions count for a lot. It's hard to be succinct because there is so much to relish. I'm the sort of person who drops the little ochre google man every where before visiting, so I already knew Belchamp Hall was real but you can't know the reality of the love in a place without experiencing it. Spring hasn't been particularly kind this year, and neither have the gas suppliers, so when we opened the door to the Coach House and felt the warmth emanating from a generously heated property it was a pure joy. In fact, we always select properties with log burners because we love a "real" ...more
The cottage was an absolute delight. Beautifully furnished - really comfortable beds - great location - lovely secure garden for the dogs - wonderful walks. We had a fantastic week there.
Light, bright, comfortable and warm house, in rural Suffolk. Helpful owners close by. Drive to shops, pubs and places of interest.
Enjoyable stay, excellent facilities and good location. Would stay again. Parking is difficult if you have a large car.
A very comfortable place to stay starting with a much appreciated welcome basket of goodies. We found all that we needed and had plenty of room to store our provisions. Three things to mention: - The locks were difficult to use and each time we wondered whether we’d get in successfully - couldn’t get the wi-di to work - it took a few days to work out the oven (despite the manual). A simpler user guide would have been welcome Lovely to walk to Hartest and great beer and food at the Crown. We enjoyed our week away very much. Thank you. EG
Having lived in Higham for a long time we often used to drive past The Gildhall and admire it from afar! So, being able to come back and stay there was wonderful! The house is beautiful inside and out and full of traditional charm and character. We even had a go on the Aga!! The welcoming hamper was a lovely surprise and the information about the house was clear and extensive. The house was spotless and the bedrooms perfect having two en-suites. The garden is beautiful and having The Park next door is ideal if you have a dog to walk. Just all round perfection! I would highly re...more
Good beds Good shower Great place to sit outside Pub and Cornershop nearby Great welcome package Easy contact with the owner Very quiet
Great place to relax in countryside but so close to everything in Colchester. Comfy & nicely equipped, sure even better in spring/summer
Very comfortable accommodation in secluded grounds. Good location for exploring Suffolk and the South East. Great welcome pack and all essential provisions.
A larger sign at the bottom of the driveway would be a help locating the cottage. Our sat nav didn’t seem to recognise the postcode and took us too far. Fortunately we found some friendly locals who gave us directions. An outside space to sit in the sun would have been nice but it was a lovely cottage and we enjoyed our stay.
We all had a great time during our stay at The Old Barn and Charlie at Idyllic Suffolk couldn’t have been more helpful, dealing with all our questions and sorting out the blinds in the bedroom for us. We would definitely recommend Idyllic Suffolk and will contact Charlie again when planning our next visit to Suffolk.
This would be our second cottage booked through Idyllic. Our first cottage was perfect. Sadly, this wasn’t. Firstly, the kitchen appeared to have been overlooked during the cleaning ahead of our stay. Many surfaces were covered in dirty stains and finger marks and the small Nespresso machine was filthy, with used pods still left in situ. We felt we needed to clean all the utensils before we could use them. We checked before booking that this cottage accepts a dog. It does, but there is an access path from a neighbouring property. We often found the neighbour actually walking up an...more
My friend and I stayed in Stable Cottage in Semer and were disappointed with the lack of cleanliness especially with the pool which was the main reason for booking this. I am a keen swimmer and this was why we booked this. The pool was full of dead insects and the tiles round it had been covered in plastic which was peeling away from the side. We couldn’t sit out because the chairs were dirty. There were a lot of cobwebs in the property. The bed was clean but there was an issue about the blind for the window. The owner met us by saying he forgot we were coming which we did not think was very w...more
