A delightful village, a gorgeous cottage and a spring heatwave! What more could we ask for? Urlay Nook is a beautiful character cottage. The owners have obviously lavished love and care on it and it shows. Particularly enjoyed being able to sit out in the lovely sunny garden with a glass of wine/beer after our long walks. Askrigg is a great location, friendly locals, several excellent pubs and plenty of walking straight from the door. And couldn’t pass up on the delicious ice cream from the Bakewell cafe. I think this was our 15th visit. It's a great cottage for two active people. You have to park in the village and carry your bags to the cottage, This means there is no traffic noise and it's lovely and quiet. The back courtyard is very private and the view of Addleborough from the front is fantastic. There is also a useful room up the steps from the courtyard where you can put muddy boots etc and it has a freezer, sink, washing machine and dryer. You don't need to use the car after arrival. The village shop sells most things, there is a cafe/bakery that also provides frozen meals, a craft shop...more
