A lovely newly refurbished house. Very comfortable with stylish furnishings. Bed was the best we have slept in. Fantastic views from living room, kitchen and bedroom. We loved Brixham too. We will be back!
The cottage is very quaint and quiet . It was very clean and had all the amenities we needed for self catering. Its conveniently located for any day trips and shopping. The tennis courts were a great in keeping my son entertained! Overall we had a lovely peaceful break and Dart cottages made it feel like a home away from home !
Perfect from start to finish, excellent location and house. Great communication from Dart Valley Cottages
We had a wonderful holiday in our beloved Dartmouth in this lovely apartment which had everything we needed. Most welcome was the milk and biscuits provided for our arrival, something which seems to have disappeared in other properties. Our only complaints are that it was the most expensive property in the block for a relatively small place and compared to others we've stayed. The arrival time of 4pm is also late especially for an Autumn break.
Ritson farm is a home away from home with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is plenty of space for an extended family gathering or group of friends and a lovely garden for BBQs and games. We particularly loved watching the birds on the bird feeder and the thoughtfully provided binoculars and bird book. It is these little details that set Ritson Farm apart from the crowd.
The house was as we expected it to be and in line with its description. The village and the region along the Dart River are quiet. The slight negative is access to the shower/toilet is mid-stairs and rather awkward but it is okay for most visitors. People with some physical disability should check first with the agent. The bedroom has a lovely view of the Dart River - nearly panoramic. The two local pubs are tranquil places ... food is okay. The ferry across to Dartmouth is fun and Dartmouth is a lovely town. Nice stay for a few days, pity the weather was poor but then it was all across E...more
A lovely flat right in the centre of Dartmouth - perfectly situated for a short stay - would highly recommended.
This property was very clean, comfortable and in good location, with great views. Near parking and local pubs.
We've stayed here twice. The view is incredible and the flat has everything you need for a comfortable visit. Great location and parking space is worth it's weight in gold!
Comfortable house with great views of the river, you just have to be prepared for the steps to get into town.
I think this is now about our 4th or 5th stay at 16 Clarence Hill, good location with parking, would be good just to have carpet on to the top floor, bit steep and slippery!
We had a fantastic stay at the Old Orchard. The property is well positioned in Dartmouth, despite the steep hill it is doable and saves the hassle of Dartmouth parking. There are lots of steps to the property we'd suggest making that clear, we have family members that would have struggled but weren't with us on this trip. The property is in a good condition and well cared for. Facilities were great and everything was well thought through for guests e.g. dishwasher tablets. Everywhere was clean and tidy. The only problem we had was the main bathroom push sink plug didn't work (has obviously st...more
This was our first visit to Curlew Cottage and we would love to return again. The house is small but perfect for a small family. It is exceptionally well appointed with quality fixtures and fittings. Everything you could possibly need is available. We spent a lot of time in the conservatory overlooking the beautiful garden and stunning river view. The only negative is that there is no reserved parking, although plenty available a short walk away. The staircase is quite steep so not suitable for someone with mobility problems. We thoroughly recommend this cottage.
On the whole the house is nice, but a few points Plus points are the location with great views, the parking space (advertised as for 2 cars but would be tight for 2 unless both very small), well equipped house, lots of plates, mugs, glasses etc. Beds are very comfortable, for the most part decor throughout is very good but just the areas below in the negatives let it down a bit. A few negative points. You'll need to have your own iPlayer and ITV accounts to use the TVs as smart TVs as the aerial signal wasn't strong enough so not possible to watch via freeview. Dart Valley did offer to ...more
Excellent location. Close to everything, including the car park. Couldn't fault the accommodation. Very comfortable beds and had everything you would need.
Great house in imaculate condition. Lots of steps up to the house and two stair case within the property but no stair gates so bought our own from Argos. But apart from that we had a lovely time and would defo recommend to anyone looking for an easy property for walking straight into town.
Cornworthy is a pretty village and it’s beautifully located for walking and cycling around this hilly part of Devon. The cottage is part of a terrace of cottages. There are regular comings and goings past the front door from the other cottages, and the cottage looks out over a building site which rather ruins the otherwise bucolic feel of the area. The cottage is quite sweet but ruined by a very budget makeover. Everything has been done ‘on the cheap’ which isn’t a great feeling for guests. Foam cushions, foam pillows, polyester bedlinen, electric shower, mini dishwasher. Everything ha...more
Living accommodation spacious, nicely presented and well equipped. Kitchen equally well equipped with a good range of appliances. Would benefit from better instruction on use. Downstairs master bedroom was of a good size with adequate furnishings/ storage.En suite was a good size, but short on space for toiletries etc., no hooks for hanging garments, no toilet roll holder and the towel rail (only place to hang towels) only heated if/when main central heating came on. 2nd bedroom not of a size to be fairly described as an adult double. Has 2 single beds which virtually fills the whole floor s...more
Idyllic cottage in Dittisham. Peaceful comfortable and clean. Recommend self catering because local pub doesn't serve food and nearest other eateries down a very steep hill and not serving food on Monday or Tuesday evening. Most local attractions can only be accessed using narrow and steep country lanes but well worth the effort as this is a beautiful part of Devon. Highly recommend river cruise to Dartmouth!!
The house was very comfortable and a fantastic location. A couple of negatives however. The main one being that I parked my car (front in first) with the bonnet under the entry, some kind of liquid had dripped onto the bonnet which removed the surface of the paint. The other point (minor but unnecessary) the BBQ had not been cleaned.
Fabulous views from upstairs windows and very relaxing location. Very steep hills in places, be warned, the walk via public footpath slightly easier when coming up the hill from the harbour. Water taxi into Dartmouth really convenient just ring or email them and they will pick you up from Dittisham. The Ferry boat inn has a limited menu but food is good quality beer a bit pricey though. Greenway is easily accessible via the ferry, just ring the bell!
Beautiful area to stay in. Damson cottage was perfectly adequate for our needs. Fairly comfortable but would benefit from a blind in the kitchen, a rug that lies flat in the living room (trip hazard) a higher bed with a deeper mattress in the main bedroom. Additionally some leaflets about places to visit and more information on the local area would be helpful. The cottage has a well equipped kitchen and everywhere was clean and tidy. An enjoyable stay.
Bell cottage was lovely, very clean and smelt beautiful with lovely Dartmouth Candles diffusers in the rooms it is in a perfect town centre location. We would return.
Superb property in fantastic position. It would be perfect if there was a toilet on the lower ground floor
Booked late but we were met by Helen who made us feel very welcome. We were invited to walk around her lovely garden which we made use of. Quiet peaceful spot and everything was there to make our stay comfortable.
Perfect four bedroomed cottage for four mates on a golf trip couple of smashing pubs in walking distance or another just a couple of miles away lovely friendly people
Lovely cottage, it had everything we needed ….. although maybe a pint of milk would have been useful, as there is no shop in the village. A very restful weekend ……..and beautiful weather was the icing on the cake .
This is the second time we have visited DunedIn Cottage. Last year we stayed with family, this year we went with friends. The location is superb - as long as you are fit. Parking on the beach to load / unload is easy, but you need to check the tide and be confident driving through narrow lanes. We particularly liked going on the ferry to Dartmouth, or across to Greenways, there are great walks for the dog on either side of the river - once she had got use to the ferry. The house is perfect for groups of 6, with the garden cabin allowing seclusion, the family kitchen when we did decide to ...more
let down by a good number of irritating problems due to inconsistent maintenance/ management. It is fine for a couple of people for a couple of days as long as you mainly eat out.
When first entering the cottage we were disappointed with the overall appearance of the lounge. A very uncomfortable leather sofa. We were happy with the kitchen and the bedrooms and bed linen. The bathroom was a problem as the water from the bath was very slo running away, and the plug didn’t fit ! The house keeper came and changed the plug which was a little better but we had to clean away the ‘gunge’ that was stopping the water running away. Also there were two dirty towels left from the previous customer on the back of the bedroom door. Disappointed with a poor welcome basket but I ...more
We stayed here last year and we’re very happy so decided to book again for this year. We were disappointed from the onset when we arrived at 3 to find our villa not cleaned. We had got check in time wrong but we didn’t leave property until 3.25 after phoning dart valley and cleaners still weren’t there!!! How they thought they could efficiently and thoroughly clean a 3 story properly in half hour I don’t know! We had booked our food delivery for 4-5 and so we came back for 4pm when the food order came but cleaners STILL not finished. We were emptying food onto wet floors around cleaners…..ha...more
We have used Dart Valley Cottages several times and are confident that our accommodation will be of a high standard. At our last visit, again, we were not disappointed. The house was an excellent choice; clean, modern, easy access to Dartmouth town and amenities, nice outside space, comfortable furniture and well-equipped kitchen. We would definitely recommend Dart Valley Cottages
I need a bungalow because I can’t do stairs and this one is perfect . Two bedrooms and a bathroom. Lovely balcony with views to die for. Plenty of room and well equipped kitchen.
Thanks for my recent stay in Gull's Nest. All went very smoothly and the cottage is very well organised and comfortable. Someone had very kindly put up Christmas decorations and left some mulled wine and mince pies which I really appreciated. Just a couple of things. It would be good to have an extra duvet or heavy blanket. I was actually fine as I was there on my own so I just folded the double duvet in half to get two layers. But for two people in winter they may have been cold. Also your directions for getting there for car drivers seemed very good. I however came on public trans...more
We had a great week at Pipiriki. Brilliant location with the beach at the end of the garden, gorgeous view from the house and beautiful garden. The house itself is tired though, and we had to buy a lot of the items we’d normally expect to find in the kitchen eg oil, pepper, coffee, cleaning spray, bin bags (there was only 1 left) etc. Also there was no working hoover (the tiny DustBuster didn’t work) at the property which meant using a dustpan and brush - which with 4 children was exhausting.
Lovely few days in a favourite part of the world Excellent little cottage, clean and tidy BUT couldn't find a teapot or cafetiere! One small but important omission......although your manual lists a vet there is no listing for local Taxis, Dr surgery, Medical centre or hospital. ( Even The Anchor Cafe has a list of Taxis!) Unfortunately i needed these as a small puncture wound from barbed wire wouldn't stop bleeding
I just read a review of Bayards Apartment from July last year. I wish I’d read it before I booked. Nothing has changed in ten months. My heart sank on arrival, tatty front door which needs painting, a big weed and rubbish at front step, broken cover on key safe, front door left on the latch. I stepped inside to see a communal hall and stairway which clearly hadn’t been vacuumed. There were also two “gull proof” rubbish bags, the one for our apartment contained smelly unbagged rubbish. Surely these should be outside? Upstairs on the first floor is Bayards Apartment, inside it looked ok, h...more
The Nook provided a cosy, welcoming base for our short break in Dittisham. While other reviews have complained about the cleanliness of the cottage and lack of hot water, we found everything was spotless on arrival and the shower worked efficiently. It would have been helpful to have received some more detailed instructions on how to reach the cottage as there is a turning area at the top of the village which you have to use to access Lower Street. Similarly, the parking area behind the house is quite large and we were not sure if specific bays belonged to The Nook. There is an area by the...more
Had a lovely time as always. Just to let you know that the shower doesn't work and there was an old cake in the drawers that hadn't been removed. We brought our mattress topper with us for the bed in the spare bedroom because the mattress was uncomfortable last year. Such beautiful views from the property and a great location, thank you.
Wonderful House, views and village if the nerves hold on the last mile or so to the house! Great facilities and all was well on arrival bar there being no hand towels in the additional WCs - we thought that odd. We had the bedroom under the lounge; our bottom sheet had been put back damp on arrival; no problem; we sorted that. Despite the rules for rubbish; someone had dumped dirty nappies in the bin - we had no babies! The bin men refused to take these. My only real issue was with the flooring noises! In a house like this with the bedrooms downstairs and with youngsters in our party, this ...more
Lovely week once again in Orchard Cottage - the only point we would raise is that it would be helpful to have some instructions for the TV, cooker and upstairs en-suite shower. Apart from that the cottage is ideal for a break in a lovely part of Devon.
Without doubt the worst holiday let we have stayed in. Poor condition in terms of facilities and cleanliness. Lack of instructions, toilet seats were loose, dishwasher was broken and it looked like it had been for a while. The door in the double bedroom was hard to open and you really had to pull at it to open it. No instructions for heating (although in the booklet it did mention a thermostat in lounge that wasn’t actually there). Only one curtain in lounge to one side and it would have been nice to have relaxing seats (to admire the view which was actually lovely) in the window instead of th...more
What a wonderful little cottage we have stayed here before and would stay again everything we needed ans so close to Dartmouth no garden but not needed with so many places to sit out well kitted out kitchen to cook yourself and dishwasher was a godsend
We stayed here for 3 nights over New Year and enjoyed using the light, bright kitchen/dining area. The rainfall shower was also very pleasant. We had difficulties with some of the heating controls initially and had one issue re towel rail in the bathroom that was quickly resolved. We didn’t find the sofa particularly comfortable and the position of this didn’t make for easy TV viewing. The kitchen would benefit from more equipment such as a decent set of knives, scissors and mixing bowls. A towel rail in the WC would be useful.
The property is well equipped but the layout of the apartment is a little strange. The small kitchen area is an integral part of the living room area, but has no real food preparation area, so it's difficult to keep any cooking smells from dominating the living space, despite the small integral fan above the cooker. The main bedroom is really small, with a small double bed, the single bedroom has no natural light and no window. Probably the apartment is more suited for just two people. One little gripe, the TV is situated in an alcove in the corner of the room, and difficult to see, if you...more
A really nice property in a fab location. Lots of stairs/steps so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues. The property was clean and well equipped...some basic kitchen items such as kitchen roll, salt and pepper, foil, oil would have been useful (most self catering places have these nowadays). There is a lot of space, so it would be suitable for 3 couples easily, which makes it good value. Overall we would recommend this property
Fantastic location, parking near the cottage (pay to park, not an issue). 2 pubs either end if the village also one is a shop and post office which also does take away meals, excellent breakfast. Fantastic well kept garden absoloutly huge. Water taxis to Dartmouth regular (best to book at busy times). Cottage was lovely, but in need of a bit of a spruce up, and a good clean.
Cottage was generally excellent, it had everything that we needed. It was in a quiet location with convenient parking. We might have considered extending our stay had the weather been better.
Lovely location, lounge is a great social space. Beds very comfy and plenty of hot water. Beautiful views and lovely outside space. Dining chairs are tired and showing stains and kitchen utensils could be better. Getting into the shower could be a problem for elderly as it is very high.
Holly cottage is in the most beautiful location. The cottage is a little tired and even in the sunny days was cold in the evening we took wood and kindling, this made a real difference. Garden furniture at the rear of cottage in poor condition. Despite this its location made up for it… we had a fabulous 5 days.
This cottage is very well maintained, very clean & very well equipped, thought has been given to what people need when they're on holiday. It's well positioned in the village for the shop & pub, also walks.
Great location and quiet, short walk into town. The milk, teabags, sugar, dishwasher tabs etc v useful. Thank you!
Primrose cottage is a small cottage in a beautiful setting in a great location, we loved Dittisham .
Cottage was a bit smaller than the photos seem to show but perfectly fine for our week stay. Made full use of the tennis court, pool and pool table in the bar. Could have made location of bins clearer as had to ask reception as not visible from the front of the hotel. All the staff very helpful, especially the bar staff, drinks a bit pricey though. Minor moan, the sealing around the shower tray was grubby and could probably do with replacing with fresh mastic. Overall thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider returning
I enjoyed two short stays at School Steps this winter - great for a get away for a few days. It's a quaint and homely little place in a super location with views over the River Dart. The upstairs rooms look as if they have been recently refurbished; downstairs could probabky do with a bit of a spruce-up.
As is nearly always the case with rental cottages, the cleanliness was not good . The oven and Aga were very dirty and the steps outside the back door obviously had not been swept for weeks. However, the main problem was that the heating had been turned off and the cottage was quite cold - 14 degrees in the morning. There was a tiny portable heater which, unfortunately, made little or no difference. The cottage is in a wonderful location and is very well equipped. The garden has stunning views and there is parking at the property so it’s a real shame that a few small things spoil an other...more
