We have had a marvellous time at The Kenmore the house is amazing and has everything you need . It is immaculate inside and the location is amazing we will be back again .
Second time we have stayed . We are a party of two adults and two teenagers and attend the Cowal gathering. This cottage is perfect for us and we are booked for same time next year.
We been for work in Dunoon. The property was like home from home. The Owner was very kind and helpful. The house is well equipped with all you need for a short break.
Birch cottage is just as described with comfortable accommodation and fabulous views over Loch Long. The owners are very friendly and helpful and we had a wonderful week at Stronchullin. We only used the ground floor as there was just two of us.
Had a super week in excellent well equipped cottage . Track down to cottage bumpy but well worth it if you want seclusion in a location with lots of great scenery and places to eat
I absolutely loved Gate Cottage!! We stayed there for two weeks while touring the islands and West Coast if Scotland. The cottage is incredibly stylishly decorated and has everything you could ever need in the kitchen. We also had family staying with us and everyone loved it!! There is a lovely hotel within 5 minutes walk, which serves up great food and drinks. The setting is ideal with astonishing scenery. There is nothing I can fault and I’ll definitely be back.
this was a really well maintained and well finished place, although attached to a working farm, not in any way noisy and no farm smells. proximity to Benmore Botanic gardens was brilliant with wildlife everywhere you look, Red Squirrel, Red Deer , birdlife, etc. the only downside for us was that we only booked a week and had to go home on Saturday.
Ardfyne on Loch Fyne is a stunning house in an idyllic location. The main purpose of our stay was to have a base for our family while walking The Cowal Way which stretches from Portavadie to Inveruglas. The house is more or less half way along the route. The facilities, comfort, cleanliness were excellent with loch views to die for from the lounges and front bedrooms. A real find. I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. The one negative about the property is the driveway. It is extremely steep, unsurfaced, uneven and not for the faint-hearted. Two members of the family got their ...more
A clean and spacious flat with fantastic views. The Kames Hotel with restaurant and pub is a short walk along the quiet waterfront road. Tighnabruaich is a bit out of the way, so it's a 45 minute drive to get out the Cowal peninsula, but there are things to do in the area if you wish to stay local. There is a ferry at Dunoon, and we easily made daily excursions to Oban, Glasgow and Culzean castle while there. The MacBrides were wonderful hosts. Highly recommended!
Comfortable, very clean and compact accommodation, ideal for a short break. Lovely location with welcoming hosts who go that bit extra to make you feel like valued guests and ensure all your needs are met.
It was a very comfortable an relaxing holiday at Barr Cottage.John and Victoria are excellent hosts!
Lovely villa, everything we needed for our recent stay and the hot tub was an added bonus! We would definitely recommend!
We had a great stay for 24 days. House was well equipped with everything you needed, and had a lovely view. The beds were comfortable and the 2 main bedrooms were spacious. The 3rd bedroom was quirky. House was lovely and warm with the storage heaters and even had to switch them off at times. There is a nice wee garden at the front of the house with a BBQ.Owners contacted us when we booked and introduced themselves which was lovely and all instructions were received before we traveled. Never quite worked out how to work the washing machine so instructions would have been handy. Only negatives ...more
Excellent accommodation spacious clean and everthing a family could need provided. Lovely area wonderful views would definitely come back and stay here again
Very nicely and tastefully renovated old stable building in beautiful surrounding. The house is perfectly equipped and the landlords were very friendly and helpful!
Lovely stay at the property. Clean, bright and modern on the inside. Beautiful views of the loch. Highly recommended.
An idyllic setting, truly away from it all. We enjoyed being in such a beautiful place and the weather was mostly kind to us. Amazing to have the beach so close. Enjoyed meals at the Oystercatcher and explored a little further afield too. All was as advertised.
Cosy cottage in lovely, peaceful location. Well equipped. Ideal for lots of lovely walks and day trips.
We have stayed in a lot of rental holiday properties over the last fifteen years and this one comes top overall. It's real test was that our week in July was not blessed with the best weather, but the airy and light spaces (and that includes the bedrooms and bathrooms) coupled with the view, the modern layout and very high quality fixtures and fittings, meant that my wife and I and four friends were able to enjoy the bonhomie and fun that only a really good break can provide.
We really enjoyed our stay at Inverfyne Cottage. Booking was a breeze with Iain (Argyll Self-Catering) answering all my questions with friendliness and patience. Gaining access to the cottage was simple, always a bonus after a long road trip or flight. The owner checked on us but respected our privacy. The cottage was well-stocked, spacious, clean, and comfortable. The garden was pretty with outdoor seating and a picnic table. The location is private with lovely views and a short walk to the banks of Loch Fyne and a pub/brewery, There are places a short drive away to eat and nearby the...more
Extremely warm welcome by delightful owners, Hans and Helga. Cottage was very comfortable with its own enclosed garden (suitable for dog) overlooking the main gardens which are absolutely beautiful. Very much enjoyed my stay especially sitting down by the shore watching the beautiful sunsets.
We felt at home as soon as we arrived, very comfortable and with all the facilities and equipment we could possibly need. Wonderful ever changing views from the lounge. Slightly disappointed with the higher level and noise of traffic along a single track road than we expected.
Beautiful cottage, including everything you could possibly need. Extremely comfortable beds. Lovely welcome gifts from owners and very receptive, helpful and accommodating.
Accommodation is in an excellent position on the esplanade in Dunoon with fabulous views over the Clyde. The enclosed rear garden is great for dogs. The house is very well appointed with lovely comfortable furnishings. There is outdoor furniture and the rear garden provides shelter from any wind and receives a lot of sun. The town centre is just minutes away with lots of dog friendly shops. I would definitely recommend this accommodation.
We stayed on this lodge park before and really enjoy it for its location and easy access to walks and the Botanic garden. Chestnut lodge is well equipped and maintained, we would certainly recommend stating there. Only issues was we could not get the internet to work which wasn't a big deal since we were out most of the time anyways.
centrally located for our stay ,lovely ,clean accommodation with great views. would stay here again .
Tighnaheaglais Cottage was a lovely place to stay. we are a family of 5 ( 2 adults and 3 children) and it is a lovely spacious cottage. The lounge is comfortable and well set out and the three bedrooms are all of a good size. the kitchen has everything you need. In terms of location it is very remote with very little around, perfect if you want the peace. The nearest shop is a good 20 min drive. The cottage could however have benefited from Wifi , a better TV + DvD for entertainment as well as a second toilet. In addition to this as we had an infant a cot in one of the rooms . Oth...more
We had an amazing time here, the lodge was beautiful and clean, the views were stunning, all the family loved it and want to book again.
Home from home. Fiona (the owner) cannot do enough for you. Basic essentials bread, butter, milk, orange juice and not to forget the wine all in the fridge awaiting your arrival. Fiona even lifted us to the Games Field on the Saturday morning which was much appreciated.
We spend four days at Allt Beag with some American family and unanimously agreed that everything about the house was first rate - the location, decor, provisions for entertaining both children and adults and cooking facilities. Would certainly recommend the house to anyone wanting to visit lovely Argyll. Just one note - the local shops stock only basic groceries and fruit and veg. There is no butcher or fishmonger in the village so do take supplies with you if you plan to cook at home.
Excellent location, very relaxing holiday despite the terrible weather. Great views, lovely to watch all the changing weather conditions sat in the comfort of the lounge. The lodge was well equipped with all we needed and with comfortable beds, but as someone else commented they could do with another lamp in the lounge area. Great food in the area as well. We and the dogs had a great break.
Great wee place been a few times to Tighnabruaich, Upper Ashwood South is an ideal place to settle down and has great views.
We really enjoyed the stay. The location right on the water is unique. The binoculars were a nice surprise - we could watch many animals on the water and on the opposite Island. The equipment of the house is very good. We felt at home. We have recovered well, we would book the house again at any time.
I was very happy with the apartment it was in a great location . I would recommend this property to others .
The apartment is part of a new build near the waterfront, and also close to the shopping streets. It was warm and comfortable, with plenty of facilities and equipment.
We really enjoyed our stay at Ash Lodge! Very clean, cosy and quick responses from the owners. It was great value for money. The surrounding area is absolutely beautiful! And we enjoyed a great dinner at the Whistleford pub just up the road. Highly recommended and thanks for our stay. To be aware, it's not completely secluded, with similar lodges neighbouring but it's at the bottom so you don't look out onto anyone.
Relaxing, cozy, inviting, comfortable, clean and well taken care of. The location is beautiful. overlooking a loch. Lots of wildlife to watch, including red squirrels at the back of the cottage. There is a great little local shop about 6 miles away (turn right out of the drive) that stocks just about everything you need and more. Also it's a lovely drive to get to it. To really appreciate the location of Teal cottage you need to get out and walk. It's like your in another world, just spectacular. The cottage has more than everything you would ever need, including a set of binoculars, which ...more
Lovely view. Nice ocean decor. Pleasant back yard. Beautiful walks up the back to the quiet woods. Thoroughly enjoyed Inveraray and area. Traffic noise.
Shame about the weather and the midges, but that's the west coast of Scotland! That aside, An Cala is a well-equipped and very comfortable base to enjoy the beautiful area or just to relax in a beautiful setting. Am torn between giving the property the review it deserves, and scaring everyone else away so it's available when we want to go back!
The house was very comfortable and suitable for a large group, with a magnificent dining room looking over the canal. The breakfasting kitchen and small pantry were spacious, although a second or larger fridge would have been useful. The two front bedrooms upstairs overlook the canal and there are comfortable seats arranged to take in the view. There was a useful covered space for cycle storage too. The location was perfect for cycling and for gentle walks along the canal tow path and with the added interest of castles and ancient monuments. A longer expedition was to the Island of Gigha, seen...more
We had a lovely few days - together with outstanding weather - in this quirky but very comfy flat. The view across to Bute from the living room is outstanding and binoculars were available for otter and porpoise spotting (no luck!). The flat is very well equipped and brilliantly located with a nice outdoor area below.
Very nice upper floor apartment with great view over wonderful Kyles of Bute. Great location in village of Kames, close to local amenities (well-stocked general store with helpful, friendly proprietor; pleasant waterfront not far below, local hotels, golf course and 10 mins from Portavadie spa resort). When there was small problem with electrical supply, owner and local contractor were extremely quick to tackle issue - both were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable stay (only lounge sofa bed was not the best, but were perfectly adequate). Altogether a very pleasant stay. Will certainly retur...more
wee have stayed there the past three years and cannot fault it very peaceful great value spoke to owner nothing a problem to her very nice, would recommend it to people wanting a good place to stay out the way of everything great location could not fault it.
Trevenek cottage is certainly bigger than it looks from the outside with everything you would need for a pleasant and comfortable stay. We would definitely stop here again as it is ideally situated for us when visiting relatives nearby and accessing the beautiful scenic countryside and places of interest.
Given that our visit was mainly centred around the events of the Cowal Gathering the location of Cedar Cottage (not in Dunoon itself) was good in that it was convenient for everything but quiet and relaxing. The property itself was very well presented, very clean and contained everything people visiting were likely to need for a comfortable holiday. Many additional items (milk, fruit, etc. etc.) were provided at no extra cost by the owners which is always welcomed and items such as washing up liquid, cooking oil, dishwater tablets (things yo never put in your holiday bag) were all available. ...more
Myrtle bank villa, is spacious. Very well thought out for families, jigsaw puzzles, games, books, etc. We love staying there, as it is so welcoming and comfortable. It's lovely to sit and have breakfast overlooking the loch. If we went to Dunoon again, this is where we would stay. Tge only drawback is one of the beds has changed since our last visit, not very comfortable to sleep in, as it bows in the middle. Apart from that we would still stay again.
set down a 1 mile track is the house. I think this was the better of the two houses due to positioning. there were only two of us staying so was spacious enough but isn't that big for a 3 bed property. clean and all basic equipment available for our weeks stay. shame about some of the furniture which needs replacing (armchair). very peaceful. we did a lot of walking and you could walk into portavadie (lovely meal!) and local pub / shop nearby plus Botanics at the barn which does amazing breakfasts.
This is a house in a nice seafront location, handy for everything in Dunoon and surrounding villages. The host was very helpful and accommodating. Only negative is that the house does need quite a bit of attention as there are many things which don't work or are in poor condition which is a but frustrating because otherwise it would be tremendous.
Had a 3 night stay at the cottage recently and very much enjoyed it. The location is superb, right across the road from Western ferries. The view from the bedrooms is stunning. Lovely big kitchen, reasonable sized living room and comfy beds upstairs. It was handy having the downstairs toilet as well as the bathroom upstairs. We took our dog with us and it would have been more useful for the garden to be fenced in but it wasn't really an issue as the dog liked to lie in the conservatory! My only criticism would be that overall the property wasn't very clean. Towels, linen etc were spotle...more
A unique location directly on to a pebble beach with stunning views. The studio style accommodation was very clean, modern and well equipped - including a large number of board games and DVDs in case the weather was not kind. The kitchen and shower room were cleverly designed to provide quality facilities while still leaving generous living space. Outside the "garden" was integral with the beech and had stunning views down the Kyles of Bute. This is a small and very pleasant location and we hope to be visiting it again before too long. Well recommended for a relaxed place to stay with plen...more
Lovely quiet location overlooking boatyard and coast of Bute, view is ever changing with clouds, light and boats. Well appointed inside and out (though weather can be poor). Our third stay at Alderside and may well come back again.
Kintore is a fantastic property for a stay at Innellan. We have family who live locally and over the years we have rented many self-catering properties. This one ranks at or near the top of the list in terms of quality, comfort, cleanliness, location and value for money. Highly recommended.
We have stayed here twice now (10 people) and there is ample room for all. Spacious and comfy. Lovely big kitchen too. The hot tub is very nice and if that is not your thing then you can still have conversations through the window or by sitting in the garden. It’s not far from town and a lovely walk along the front. The views are amazing too. Highly recommended
Shower room The shower & towel rail need updated( mould & rust). The power cords were too high ( i’m 5’ and couldn’t reach) Sitting room The side/folding tables in the sitting room need replaced, they are unsteady and bulky. A small nest of tables would be good. My husband tidied your cds only to discover many were missing and cases were empty. Kitchen We all found it awkward to access the cutlery! There is no substitute for a drawer! These are constructive criticisms and purely meant as a review to enhance the experience. We all had a very comfortable stay and enjoyed the use of th...more
Lovely restful break. The only noise being the stream at the front of the cottages. Small cottages, each with its own garden.
What a lovely cottage! Val gave us a warm welcome, and showed us around Springburn Cottage, including the children's playroom. This is a very pretty location in Argyll with local facilities to suit everyday needs - and the quiet to enjoy it. The kitchen is well suited to self-catering, although there are plenty of local eating spots. The large bedrooms allowed a good night's sleep on comfy beds. We didn't need to use the washing machine and tumble drier, but for a longer stay (or for walkers in poor weather) this would be a boon. This was our second holiday in Strachur, and I am sure we will b...more
It’s hard to overstate how good the location is with beautiful views over Loch Fyne and sunsets over the hills. The lodge is extremely comfortable and the owners very easy to deal with. The Oystercatcher pub is an easy walk and does great food, beer and wine- make sure you book for evening dining tho.
We enjoyed staying there both times (first with family and secondly with friends) Just two concerns are expressed 1) stone steps (going to upper level) results in a situation of half-a-step passing the bathroom door. Second half of step is on a "next-step-up" situation - for those who are older and or younger children (our grandchild was 4yrs old) can be a potential concern and since there is no handrail between bathroom and final steps to bedroom (due to a cupboard) is of potential concern - we left the bathroom light on all night with door open to ease concern 2) The mattress down s...more
We have been to this lodge for a few years now. There have been improvements made every year to this lodge too. I enjoy the peace and quiet then going up for the entertainment with my grandchildren at night time
Beautiful location, the cottage is in gorgeous setting. Could easily be 5 star however when we arrived the kitchen worktops had crumbs under toaster and things . The unit doors were dirty from food and needed cleaned. The table cloth was dirty. Dado rail in hall was covered in dust. The worst part was bedrooms are downstairs and the smell of damp was at times wafting up the hall , it was so off putting to sleep in. On the plus the bathroom was beautiful and clean. It just needs deep clean. It was disappointing and did affect how comfortable we felt. The owner was made aware but brushed it off...more
Great cottage and facilities close to lots of great walks, perfect for getting away from it all to relax with great views.
Take plenty of logs or buy them from the Jet Garage down the road as the one storage heater in the living area doesn’t provide enough heat to sufficiently heat this area. Even with the log fire going it was still a bit chilly over the Christmas period that I ended up putting the oven on and leaving the door open to heat the open plan kitchen/dining/lounge area.
Lovely stay .Very comfy ,specious lodge . Excellent location . Lodge has everything what we need and much more . Amaizing view through the window . Thanks Diane
Very comfortable lodge with a "home from home" feel. Quiet location. Well equipped, including a cupboard full of games that were much appreciated on a very wet afternoon!
Yealand is in a great location but its a bit tired and old fashioned. Too many ornaments and personal items for a holiday home. Enjoyed the table tennis and darts. The views from the house are wonderful. Shame the garden furniture is so uncomfortable. The house is fine for a weekend but a longer stay could be pushing it. There is absolutely no mobile service so makes it difficult if there are any problems. On the plus side having no signal gives you the chance to switch off and relax.
Well equiped kitchen. Nice refrigerator with lots of freezer space. Great oven. Small dishwasher is nice to have. Comfortable living room with good space, lovely to open patio doors when it is sunny out. Very nice to have 2 bathrooms. Instructions for how to use the showers very clear. The cottage is located a distance back from the road so you generally do not hear traffic going by.. Nice care package upon arrival. Easy instructions to enter and leave property at the end of our stay. Some cons to this property:. The front door mat has a wire that sticks up. I set it to the side...more
Everything was perfect. Beautiful and warm house. Everything was clean. Hot tub was great! Couldn’t fault it.
The apartment is clean and tidy and has everything you would need in the kitchen, but is a bit 'soulless' and feels basic. The lounge could be made more cosy with a few cushions on the sofa. There were plenty of (obviously new) towels, but I'm a bit puzzled as to why there is no-where to hang your towels in the bathroom - something that could be easily sorted with a couple of towel rings/rails. There is no welcome pack/folder and it's not obvious how to use the TV/Satellite system or the electric wall heaters (again, could be easily sorted). The wi-fi code was helpfully mounted on the wall...more
This cottage was fitted out well and had the bonus of having owner nearby to assist with any problems. This is a bonus for anybody who does not know area as they are willing to answer any questions.
The appartement is old but authentic and therefor ok. The surroundings are beautiful and the gardens are splendid. The Gruffalo Trail and the houses of the Elves were magical for the kids and as it was raining -duh- it was handy that we could do these trails in 'our own back yard'...Inveraray (with a supermarket) is nearby and the loch offers beautiful views. Our children watched 'Waterhorse' of course and were constantly yelling:'That's our castle, I walked on that grass...' Nice!
Having a sore ankle, the steps were were not easy on coming down. A light was very much needed to get at the key. The bath could do with a non slip mat or rubber discs. The place soon warmed, with the heating on for about an hour.
Lodge was very cold when we arrived no heating on,storage heating is very ineffective because of old appliances, had to leave a day early because of the cold and uncomfortable sofa also lighting is poor because of low energy bulbs.
The cottage is great, but unfortunately not clean enough to make one really comfortable. Also on the day we arrived the boiler did not work so we had no heating or hot water to shower. Also there was a problem with the drain in one of the showers. The house is nice, location is good but could be much better if it was cleaner.
We had a wonderful time at the Boat House, cosy with the fireplace, beautiful view (even otters came along) and quiet. We got flowers and herbs from Richard from the garden and also tried some vegetables. :-) Just to be helpfull the following: Some things can be a bit better. The wood for the stove should be a little smaller fore the Boat House or an ax would be helpfull. The kitchen is a bit outdated but still functional. The outside of the house could use a little paint. The windows need to be cleaned at the inside to have an even better view ;-).
No separate toilet contrary to the description. The dinner table was wobbly. We had to screw it back. The WiFi is really poor. The kitchen drawers & the kitchen hood were dirty. Not enough dishes. No replacement for the toaster when it broke down. But lovely situation near the loch & nice welcoming basket
The cottage was quirky, but in need of a make-over. The kitchen needs a deep clean. Because of its location I might recommend it to others.
