Second time we have stayed . We are a party of two adults and two teenagers and attend the Cowal gathering. This cottage is perfect for us and we are booked for same time next year.
Kenmore in one word Marvellous look forward to a return visit its a wonderful house and location and any holiday makers who stay there are sure to enjoy just as much as we did just perfect.
Birch cottage is just as described with comfortable accommodation and fabulous views over Loch Long. The owners are very friendly and helpful and we had a wonderful week at Stronchullin. We only used the ground floor as there was just two of us.
Never better. It was great..........................................................................
Had a super week in excellent well equipped cottage . Track down to cottage bumpy but well worth it if you want seclusion in a location with lots of great scenery and places to eat
An excellent place to stay in Kames/Tignaburagh. Excellent hosts as well, so friendly and helpful. The house (upper level) is very cozy and spotlessly clean and more than adequate. Large bathroom with shower over the bath and a toilet along with a separate toilet along the hallway. It has the most beautiful view out over the water to wake up to each morning, which is ever changing in light, movement and sea going boats. The Kitchen is very well equipped with everything that you need to cook a dinner. (we cooked a Roast dinner) We stayed there with two other adults and felt we all had ple...more
We have been to Dunoon/Strone 7 times over the last seven years. We love the area, so peaceful and plenty to see and do. Dunbheag Cottage was perfect. It was very comfortable and clean, everything you needed to make it home from home. The view was absolutely fantastic from the cottage. There was a summer house in the garden (which was huge) with chairs for you to sit in, but, the best was the glass summer house on the edge of the garden, it was most beautiful sitting there on a night time looking out to the loch. There was also the lovely surprise of chocolates and a bottle of fizz, that went...more
A lovely little cottage set in the middle of Argyle Forest within earshot of the tranquil sound of a fast running stream closeby. The Cottage was well presented and had everything you would expect to find in a holiday cottage, including wifi, but unfortunately no phone signal (due to its isolated position, but that can be bonus in this technological world!). Dunoon is the closest town nearby for amenities. Inverary, a lovely place, is also not too far away either and well worth a visit. Iain of Argyll Self Catering Holidays was extremely helpful and quick to respond to any questions we had....more
Had an amazing holiday at Benmore Byre. Lovely sunny patio to sit out and watch the hills, forests, birds and sheep. We saw red squirrels every day and even a pine marten! Beautifully clean accommodation and very comfortable beds. Spectacular forest walks nearby and plenty to do in Dunoon as well. WiFi was unavailable - not a problem for us, but maybe for some folks if they were expecting to have it. The Botanic Gardens Cafe (a beautiful 10 minute stroll away) does have WiFi though if you happen to need it, as well as lots of nice cakes.
We had a great stay for 24 days. House was well equipped with everything you needed, and had a lovely view. The beds were comfortable and the 2 main bedrooms were spacious. The 3rd bedroom was quirky. House was lovely and warm with the storage heaters and even had to switch them off at times. There is a nice wee garden at the front of the house with a BBQ.Owners contacted us when we booked and introduced themselves which was lovely and all instructions were received before we traveled. Never quite worked out how to work the washing machine so instructions would have been handy. Only negatives ...more
Having great weather enhanced our stay. Wildlife highlight was a seal on the seal shaped rock not far from the cottage one evening - unfazed by one of use going down close to take a photo.
Barr cottage is perfect. Country cottage vibes with all modern comfort. Everything was so well equipped which made self catering so easy. Cosy and warm too! Birds and wildlife right outside the door and view of loch from window in the lounge. Would love to return.
I stayed at this place for 4 nights. It's in a good location, overlooking the loch, it was quiet and spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfi and I slept well, but in all honesty I wouldn't have been that comfortable if I would have had to share it with my partner; we would have found it too small. The best part are the owners, not at all pushy, like some I've come across in my many years of travelling, but I did get a welcome like I've never had before. The lady of the manor even made soup to warm me after my journey, and left me very nice treats, which made me feel really spoiled. They we...more
A beautifully and tastefully restored cottage on the shore of Loch fine everything you could possibly need, enchanting to say the least
This is approx the 6th visit to Heathfield Villa Dunoon and we hope to return in 2019! We always have a great time in this lovely house. It is very clean and well appointed and the welcome goodies are much appreciated!
The house was excellent. And what a wiew over Loch Fyne. We enjoyed our stay very much. One small thing was the heavy smell of bacon in the kitchen. The extractor hood could need to be cleaned. The rooms were nice and cozy and it was wonderfull to have a bathroom to each bedroom. We can recommend others to visit Ardkinglas and the Woodland Gardens in Cairndow. We wouldn't hesitate to come back to the house in the future. The clothes horse to dry clothes was still broken.
Had a wonderful stay at Craignethan, Kames. We have stayed here several times and can't wait to return. It is fabulous!
Perfect accomodation for a family Holiday in western Scotland! Beautifully located directly at the seashore. Very well equipped and very, very nice Hosts. Thank You very much!
The Pier House is in Kames and has it name implies it is on the waterfront of the Kyles of Bute, with the excellent Kames Hotel just behind. Tighnabruaich is about a mile away with a range of shops, hotels and restaurants. This makes the property an ideal base for exploring the Cowal Peninsula and going further afield to Bute and Kintyre. The property is well supplied with furniture and other requirements and has a sensational view over to Bute.
5 star luxury on the secret coast of Argyll .its the second time we’ve stayed at waterside can’t wait till the next time thank you Bruce & Penny
Ideal for short stay cosy but being all wood cabin bit dark inside good with dog as gated verandah and good walk from cabin along path to Pucks Glen. Benmore Gardens just along road well worth a visit
This is the third time we have been to the Benmore Farm accommodation and, once again, we had a fantastic stay. The accommodation is superb and well maintained. The surrounding location is great with many beautiful walks close by. Very quiet and undisturbed. Highly recommended.
We had a fantastic stay at Iverfyne. Lovely comfortable cottage with all the amenities and mod cons you need. Beautiful area with Loch fyne restaurant, garden centre coffee shop and the brewery within walking distance. Inverary is just 15 minutes away with lots to see and do. Also a great location to visit other parts of Scotland. We particularly enjoyed seeing the cattle in the fields right next to the cottage. Very cute and cheeky reaching over to eat the garden plants!!
The cottage was very nice: it was comfortable, clean, with good heating and water pressure, and nicely done up (good kitchen, the armchairs were a little bit too old, though). We liked it very much, but you have to get used to the road in front of the cottage, it can be noisy at night). Beautiful views on Loch Fyne!
This was a very spacious, comfortable place and really well equipped. The surroundings were lovely - beautiful countryside and very quiet and peaceful. We had some lovely walks from the bungalow. It's quite remote so quite a drive to get to other places. However we went to Glasgow for a day via ferry and train and it was easy if a little long.
Enjoyed our stay in the apartment. It was during an exceptionally warm period and the lot can get quite hot. But most of the windows open (not the windows in the upstairs bathroom) and it was possible to sit outside (although the garden is shared). Very well equipped. Bedrooms could do with some storage areas (to store things) but otherwise a great place.
Have stayed in this cottage for the past 5 or 6 years and found the accommodation very comfortable and of a good standard. The owner (Fiona) is. very approachable and helpful.
With wonderful sea views and close by shops and eateries this comfortable flat is a great base for a holiday in Tighnabruaich.
We spent 10 days at the Alt Beag House and the pictures do not the property justice. The property has everything you require and the extra touches of books, games and large selection of dvd’s available to use. The views from the property are stunning and there are lots of interesting things to do in the area. We where a group of six with age group ranging from 20 to 80 and our pet border collie, their property offered plenty of room. Would highly recommend and will be returning again.
Having grown up in the village and with plenty of family in the area to stay with. We chose not to put anyone out and rented this beautiful house. And will definitely do it again. Breathtaking views and peaceful at all times of the day. Highly recommended
House was beautiful and perfect for our family holiday. Lots of room for the little one to play and we loved the balcony for relaxing in the evening. The area was gorgeous and we found lots to occupy three generations of the same family. The garden was secure so we will look to bring the four legged members of the family next time, that is always a concern when properties advertise dog friendly, but this certainly was. The hosts were great, the pub is excellent and the food delicious. What's not to like? We will be back!
This rates as the best house we have stayed in and there have been a few over the years. A lot of thought has gone into the layout so 10 people can stay without it feeling crowded. We were stunned by the views over the loch from the living room, bedrooms and the patio /decking area. The kitchen was well equipped, the beds gave an excellent night's sleep and the bathrooms were luxurious. We made use of the bbq and some of us had a game of pool. Only a 10 min stroll to Kames Hotel was a benefit also. Can't wait to return.
Had a lovely long weekend with friends in this property-only a five min walk to shops and Resturants, and an amazing view accross the Loch! Will be back! x
Perfect for a short stay. Nice to have the freedom to relax and not be stuck in a hotel room. Dianas garden is amazing.
We’ve had an amazing time. The lodge is located in a very nice and quiet area with a lot to explore around.
This is a great flat with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Lovely view, log burner, peace and quiet. Love it!
wee have a good time staying at lodge everything there for families cannot fault it that's our second time there wont be last time....the only thing were lodge is and want to go to club house at night is the lighting not very good got to watch footing.....but that's not owners fault feel could do with better lighting.
The setting for the cottage is fabulous and so peaceful. The accommodation is very spacious and comfortable. It’s a home from home.
Good location, with all equipment, very comfort. We enjoy to stay and want to stay more days. maybe next time
Very nice upper floor apartment with great view over wonderful Kyles of Bute. Great location in village of Kames, close to local amenities (well-stocked general store with helpful, friendly proprietor; pleasant waterfront not far below, local hotels, golf course and 10 mins from Portavadie spa resort). When there was small problem with electrical supply, owner and local contractor were extremely quick to tackle issue - both were very friendly and helpful. Comfortable stay (only lounge sofa bed was not the best, but were perfectly adequate). Altogether a very pleasant stay. Will certainly retur...more
Tastefully furnished and wonderfully cosy base to explore a beautiful area with great places to eat and fantastic leisure facilities a few miles away at Portavadie
Super little cottage, well maintained with everything we could need. Lots of extras included like tea and coffee, toilet and kitchen rolls, cleaning products. Quiet location with excellent walks for the dog, short drive or 30min walk from Kilmartin. Pub served excellent food and is dog friendly too. We used the cottage as a base to explore Argyll and the Islands, exceptionally beautiful area, we will be returning to explore more.
Had a very comfortable short break in pier cottage. We visit this area every year at this time to attend the Highland dancing Scottish and world Highland dancing championships in Dunoon and this is first time we have stayed outside of Dunoon. Was a bit apprehensive about staying so far out but road was not as bad as I expected for travelling back and fore. Cottage was small but had everything we needed and plenty of space for myself and two daughters. Bit disappointed the sofa bed couldn’t be folded away as was broken but didn’t spoil our stay: Weather wasn’t very kind to us until the Saturday...more
Fantastic cottage in a beautiful area. Well-equipped and very comfortable, well located for everything at Portavadie and beyond. Will definitely be back.
A lovely cottage in a great place. Lovely views . Very peaceful. The cottage had everything in that you needed.
Could not fault this place at all. Would recommend and visit again. Rooms all lovely and spacious. Thank you Joanna
Remote location, ideal to rest and relax. Lovely views over the lake and varied routes for walking. Portavadie marina is a good place to visit, lovely ice cream!
The flat is well situated but I found a few matters which made it unlikely to use again.tv did not work so had to wait till next day to get it changed.no cheese grater which cleaner took from top flat to give me and no air freshener so a few ear ears like that and the clock is still one hour behind.
Very clean, spacious and well equipped flat. Has everything you could need, and more. Major downside was it was on main road, not Shore Rd as advertised. Lot of traffic noise, which I wasn't expecting. Difficult drive to navigate when another car is parked in it. However, owners and housekeeper very helpful and pleasant.
Lovely quiet location overlooking boatyard and coast of Bute, view is ever changing with clouds, light and boats. Well appointed inside and out (though weather can be poor). Our third stay at Alderside and may well come back again.
We had a wonderful stay. The hosts were very great and helpful. Cedar Cottage is located in a good area for getting around. It is a nice and relaxing place.
cosy remote location, far away from any network so as not to be disturbed by busy daily life. nice neighbors, good beer at the entry of the glen, an outside table would be nice.
We spent a wonderful week in June, 2018 at Yealand House. Very comfortable for our party of 5. Hidden down a driveway from several other houses, you’ll enjoy perfect quiet. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing and consuming full meals (several food markets are located in nearby Lochgilphead if you’re doing the cooking). The clothes washer, dryer, and dishwasher are all in top condition, too. The family room enjoys stunning views over the water to Jura, with light past 11pm in June. There is also a sunny room at the back of the house, perfect for morning tea and coffee. There are ...more
The general situation and aspect of the home were excellent. The interior functional and aesthetic. The garden and outdoor amenities (hot tub, chimenia, bbq) were outstanding. A bit of aproblem with the downstairs bathroom but that was quickly rectified ( need to check water damage from the shower in hallway wall!). A broom and coffee pot would have been assets. The upstairs toilet is also leaking around the base. We had a wonderful stay... a great home comfortable and convivial for our 4 adults and 3 young kids. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful hostess, full of great suggestions and incredibly helpful. We felt welcome and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is lovely and homely and we made the most of the real fireplace, numerous board games are available for a rainy day. The beautiful white bed linen and comfortable beds ensure a pleasant night sleep and the kitchen is very well supplied with cooking equipment.
We loved everything about this beautiful villa. The amazing views, the space and comfort indoors and the fully equipped kitchen which we made full use of. Great location to discover the Argyll and Bute area. The weather was perfect during our stay. We will definitely be returning here to visit family nearby and this villa provided everything we needed. A true home from home.
We rented Rowan Cottage in late September for two of us. Therefore, our comments relate to the comfort afforded to two people and may not translate for four (or more) people. Rowan Cottage is located in a small coastal village and is beautifully appointed providing superb views onto the Kyles of Bute and towards Bute itself. Access to the cottage is via a series of steps and may be a challenge to anyone unsteady on their feet! There are two and a half floors to Rowan Cottage. The top floor (Lounge/Kitchen/Deck area) are well-furnished, extremely clean and comfortable. The kitche...more
Lovely restful break. The only noise being the stream at the front of the cottages. Small cottages, each with its own garden.
Gordon and Lesley managed to accommodate us at short notice-thank you. The apartment was spotless when we arrived , it was also well equipped, warm and secure. Dunoon is a nice part of the world and we would definitely recommend staying there. Within walking distance of a good pub and restaurant.
This was our second stay at Oystershell and it won't be our last. Perfect location for a getaway. The property needs some TLC but otherwise well maintained and instantly gives the feeling of home when you arrive.
Nice cottage.friendly owners Comfy beds and good facilities lovely views. Quad biking fun. Beautiful area.
The binder of info was both helpful and in need of updating. We were unable to clean as no vacuum or mop. We enjoyed the layout and the kitchen was well equipped. DW door needs adjusting. Twin beds need new mattresses. Lovely crib and high chair provided for us ❤️. Lovely grounds and outdoor dining table. We would return.
Loved the location of the cabin. Cabin sleeps 6 but only seating for 5 in the living area.. Cutlery, dishes and pots/pans could be doing with getting renewed Carpets needing a good clean lots of stains.. Beds and pillows very comfy Nice clean well maintained park. Had a enjoyable stay great walking through Pucks Glen . Good value for money
Had a great relaxing holiday away from it all ( the good weather was a bonus). Lots of walks to do and some great scenery. Would recommend the strone inn for food. Welcome pack was a lovely touch.
I just made a note for three days my wife and boy were welcomed very well the house we found clean and warm we felt good but we would have stayed more maybe next year
This cottage was fitted out well and had the bonus of having owner nearby to assist with any problems. This is a bonus for anybody who does not know area as they are willing to answer any questions.
The cottage was perfectly adequate but missing the cosy feel we would have preferred. People living upstairs could be heard moving around.
The cottage is beautifully furnished but we felt it was very expensive for the time of year. Also only a small bag of logs was provided free of charge, any after that was £5. It was very cold in the living room and the heater was not enough to warm the room. The parking is not good as it is just in a field gate which was very muddy, this then got trampled into the house. We loved Loch Long, which was full of wildlife, especially watching the harbour porpoises.
We had a wonderful time at the Boat House, cosy with the fireplace, beautiful view (even otters came along) and quiet. We got flowers and herbs from Richard from the garden and also tried some vegetables. :-) Just to be helpfull the following: Some things can be a bit better. The wood for the stove should be a little smaller fore the Boat House or an ax would be helpfull. The kitchen is a bit outdated but still functional. The outside of the house could use a little paint. The windows need to be cleaned at the inside to have an even better view ;-).
Comfortable house which was ideal for a family stay. Snooker room was an added bonus. Good location and a nice quiet area.
The ranch is in a perfect location . The house in places could do with a deep clean and some repairs. But overall pretty good
