Second time we have stayed . We are a party of two adults and two teenagers and attend the Cowal gathering. This cottage is perfect for us and we are booked for same time next year.
Kenmore was hands down the best of the very nice vacation homes we stayed in on our three week trip to Scotland. Cozy yet up to date and spacious, this is a place I could live in permanently. The spectacular views of Loch Fyne out the front window seemed to change every 10 minutes with weather and time of day variations, but always marvelous. An extra bonus was finding the village of Strachur and spending time in the pub getting to know the folks who live there. Thanks so much for a memorable visit.
This was our second stay at Benmore. The first was in the Byre last October as there were 4 of us and a dog and this time in the Stable as just 2 of us and a dog. Both units almost mirror each other with furnishing, style and high quality living conditions. Beautiful setting and surroundings (set within a working farm) and only 10 mins drive from Dunoon. Kayren and Neil, the owners, are very friendly and helpful but at the same time give you privacy! As our son lives in Dunoon we are so glad that we have found somewhere to stay as we know that our visit to Scotland will be a regular occurrence...more
A lovely cottage with a garden and a fabulous view over the Holy Loch. Thank you for a great stay.
Kayren and Neil were the perfect hosts. A friendly welcome greeting despite them having such busy lives. We were so impressed with Benmore Byre. The location was perfect for us...out the way, with plenty of space to feel free...very important with 3 small children. Fantastic views from the kitchen overlooking the cows and calves, a heron regularly dropping in. The trees and the hillside with all the wonderful colours reminding us all the time we were in Scotland. The rooms were spacious and the layout worked well, all the woodwork gave such a cosy quality feel to the place. Well located for ma...more
An excellent place to stay in Kames/Tignaburagh. Excellent hosts as well, so friendly and helpful. The house (upper level) is very cozy and spotlessly clean and more than adequate. Large bathroom with shower over the bath and a toilet along with a separate toilet along the hallway. It has the most beautiful view out over the water to wake up to each morning, which is ever changing in light, movement and sea going boats. The Kitchen is very well equipped with everything that you need to cook a dinner. (we cooked a Roast dinner) We stayed there with two other adults and felt we all had ple...more
la casa è molto bella spaziosa fornita di tutto il necessario e con una posizione stupenda vista lago mozzafiato le informazioni per l'arrivo, consegna chiavi, è veramente efficiente bellissima vacanza
Enjoyed a short weekend here. Lovely furnished loft suitable for a family. Furnished and kitted out to a very high standard.
An excellent stay at Chestnut lodge again. Not our first time. This lodge just feels like home form home and even on rainy days it is a cosy place to be.
It is a romantic old cottage, but inside everything is new und very tidy. It is furnished with love and there was nothing we could have missed. The owners are very friendly and helpful, there even was a freshly baked cake and fresh flowers in a vase on the table. Outside you have a wonderful garden of your own and a garden table and chairs, and a wonderful look into the landscape on mountains and Loch Fyne.
We were deeply impressed of this little treasure. We made every day a hiking tour und in the evening we fired the wood stove and enjoyed the loneliness. Only a lot of sheeps and two rabbits were our neighbours! What a pleasure! We were very pleased, that we got new towels at the half of our stay - the housekeeper came especially to bring them to us. The landlady has made a portfolio that explains everything. The wifi works most time good. There are a lot of maps of the larger surrounding, so there is everyday something to do, hike or visit. It was really hard for us to leave this little hou...more
The lodge was very welcoming and comfortable, we were surprised how spacious it was. The location was so beautiful and we were lucky enough to have some good weather. The living area could be doing with a couple of extra lamps as the main lighting was too bright in the evening, although this did not impact whatsoever on our stay The dogs loved it as did we and we will most definitely return.
We return year after year t0 Heathfield Villa for Cowal week and hope to continue for many years to come! Heathfield is a great house with everything you need for a first class stay.
Very nice stay ... comfortable with all amenities , beds were excellent ( very important as some properties we have stayed in the mattresses really needed replacing) shame it was only a short break
Lovely views. Very spacious. Plenty for the kids to do. Awesome gardens and grassed area. Excellent wifi(international. Roaming not the best in dunoon)
An excellent cottage ideally located near to the loch and local amenities. A great games room for the kids to while away the evening or on those days when it rains!
We had a great weekend loved the house and location would go back anytime. The weather was'nt great but did'nt put us off it at all.
This is a really comfortable cottage, in a working farm, in magnificent countryside. Views from the cottage were great. No negatives at all to report. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Lovely cottage and lovely hosts, down for long weekend , welcome was exceptional and the added touches and departure were very much appreciated.
The cottage was quite small, but very cosy and comfortable. Very clean and well equipped. The front bedroom has a lovely unrestricted view of the loch - perfect for a cup of tea in bed. Modern bathroom with powerful shower. Comfy beds. Didn't use the wood burner as it was warm enough with the heating. There is Co-op within walking distance and lots of places to eat. Ideal place for touring around and lots of nice walks on the doorstep. Slight drawback was having to carry suitcases etc. across back lawn or over the busy road.
We had a fantastic time at Inverfyne. The location was beautiful with plenty of things to do locally and nice places to eat. The cottage was well stocked and had everything you need for a family holiday. The only problem that we experienced was with the water pressure - quite often the taps would not work as the pressure was low. However saying that it would not stop us going back there as we enjoyed the holiday so much.
This was a very spacious, comfortable place and really well equipped. The surroundings were lovely - beautiful countryside and very quiet and peaceful. We had some lovely walks from the bungalow. It's quite remote so quite a drive to get to other places. However we went to Glasgow for a day via ferry and train and it was easy if a little long.
An Cala was absolutely stunning & beautiful surroundings! We wanted relaxation & that's what we got. It was great to have modern accommodation that would also accept our 4 legged friend. Our future plan is to hire both bungalows with friends & family. :)
This is our 3rd visit and as before we all enjoyed our stay in this lovely flat. Over our weekend we had lunch and dinner out at the Kames Hotel welcomed by new owners Jimmy and Lily - food did not disappoint and we're happy they're continuing the legacy of the retired owners. We had a great Sunday walk through Ardmarnock Estate down to a tiny beach, the autumn colours are beautiful at the moment - highly recommended but beware if you have a very low chassis car the estate road is not do-able, it's very pot-holed. A great place to be whatever the weather - as people say in Scotland there...more
A lovely place to stay to relax and explore. The only little fault we could find and it's a little picky. is that there was not enough plates and cups, as when things where in the dishwasher from breakfast we ran out
Having grown up in the village and with plenty of family in the area to stay with. We chose not to put anyone out and rented this beautiful house. And will definitely do it again. Breathtaking views and peaceful at all times of the day. Highly recommended
Waterside Villa is absolutely beautiful. It is kitted out to a very high standard with everything you need. It is also spotlessly clean.
We liked and recomend for all visitors..............................................................
Myrtle Bank Villa was clean and comfortable as our home for three nights. Argyll Self Catering Holidays were really helpful during the booking process. The location was convenient for popping into Dunoon for supplies (and easy to get to from the ferry on arrival), whilst having lovely views across the loch. The boiler heats the property up really quickly and there's plenary of space and a good supply of DVDs and games in the living room. Some of the kitchen equipment is a bit tired and could do with replacing, but it was very clean throughout. It's worth people being aware that the second bedr...more
Lovely comfortable cottage which is well equipped. Clean and warm. Well kept gardens. Great location! Bottle of wine on arrival was a nice touch. Will definitely be returning for another visit!
Spacious apartment, clean and comfortable. Good position for the town centre and all the pubs and restaurants. Everyone we met were friendly and helpful. My friends and I were on a biking holiday and it was in a good position to discover Argyle. We hope to return one day.
Thoroughly enjoyed time at Loudon Cottage will definitely go back, highly recommended and excellent location for sightseeing
The Secret Coast Lodge provided a much needed getaway in stunning Kames. The lodge was clean and had every facility needed for sleeping, laundry, entertainment and cooking. The view from the lodge was outstanding and only a short walk (although maybe steep for some on the way back) to the convenience store and hotel. The public bus to Potavadie provided a lovely trip to Tarbert.
Myself and my husband were able to grab a few precious days together and I booked Newton Cottage as the location for this. The cottage is very well located with unobstructed views to the lake and indeed just a couple of minutes walk from it. The cottage was very well laid out and a lot of thought had gone into the design, creating a lovely waterside atmosphere with the use of colours and furnishings. It contained all mod cons and everything you might need to cook for yourself if you so wished. Amenities were within a short walking distance and we were delighted to discover a Co-op almost ne...more
Chalet was clean and very well equipped. Kitchen was great. En suite shower didn't work properly but good shower in the bathroom. Good place to sit with a terrace overlooking a loch - but you do need a car to get anywhere. There is nothing within easy walking distance. Portavadie Marina is not that far but not an easy walk to get there. Not as peaceful or private as it looks in the photo - there is another chalet right beside it, so we had three cars parked outside our window. Nice place though.
Fantastic spacious apartment which catered for all our needs. Very happy and will come back. Definitely recommended to anyone.
A paceful & attractive enviroment. Views of the loch incredible. A glowing log fire at night. Access to the caravan site facilities. Visits from the local birds. Even from a fawn one evening. We came away completly relaxed.
House needs a makeover both inside and out! Needs a clear out of personal items. Old sauce bottles in fridge. Old cereal boxes in kitchen cupboards. Was disappointing as it looks good on website Location and views excellent. Outside dangerous for young children. Although it sleeps 10 it was not value for money at the price
very relaxing loved the choice of paint colours! kitchen equipment was good. pub nearby has great food as well.
Great location to base yourself to explore the surrounding area. Recently had a long weekend mountain biking in the area. No problem with the owners. Even provided a hose to wash the bikes down. Plenty space for 5 blokes and ample car parking space right outside the house. Rooms are large and showers are great.
A lovely , cosy cottage with amazing views. It is also well located for shops, pubs etc. Highly recommended.
A lovely stay at Pier Cottage which is well set up and the owners friendly and very helpful. Good food at Kames Hotel.
Location in the Argyll Forest Park is good but the lodge is close (30 metres) to a main road which means there is often traffic noise. The property was clean and well equiped, but there was a stale smell always present - probably due to the fact they allow pets, so as none pet owners we shouldn't have choosen this one. A good point is that the decking area was covered which many of the other lodges here were not, but this meant the interior was dark.
Enjoyed our stay at the cottage very much, we had everything we needed. The cottage was very well equiped and comfortable. The minor power cut on the first night didn't spoil anything, but it might be worth getting the cooker hob/fuse looked at. thanks again, Mags & Alan.
We enjoyed our 5 night stay. The house was clean, beds comfortable and well equipped. Great views over the lawn to the river. 4 deer visited very briefly. A great base to tour the area from. Pool table, books and games all a bonus. Thankyou
We had a wonderful time the view is spectacular from this property. We took advice and moved table and dined with a wonderful view. Bed comfy and good facilities.
The cottage was lovely and situation was good. Not very much hanging space for clothes. Plenty to see round about and ferry journeys away, Tarbert and the Isle of Bute. We even visited the Crinan Canal. Hope to visit there again.
We really enjoyed our stay the location was excellent. The biscuits and snacks left for our arrival were appreciated. We also enjoyed the hot tub however the decking was quite slippy. The only other feedback I would give is that the kitchen could be a little better equipped with more trays for oven and also a pair of oven gloves. All in all a very enjoyable holiday in a lovely house thank you.
Ardmun is in a lovely setting. There were 8 of us. 4 adults and 4 children. We spent most of our indoor time in the conservatory looking over Holy Loch. Everything we needed was there but it does feel a bit dated and damp. The indoor stairs were tricky with the kids who once or twice tripped down them. Could do with another shower upstairs. But i would recommend it to others
Have stayed at this lodge 3 times now so I suppose that says it all. It is comfy and clean and equipped with all the things you would need for a short break. . My family and I all loved our breaks there and hope to come back.
Springburn Cottage is a very cosy and home-feeling little cottage, that provides everything for a four-persons stay. The host Val is a very caring and lovely person. Small problems with the house were solved in a short time! We were even asked what she can provide for breakfast as we arrived late in the evening. You absolutely need a car (or any other vehicle)!
We stayed for 3 nights and used it as a base for our travels. It was warm, cosy and in a lovely setting. We saw no staff etc but helpful notes were left. A highlight is the robin which visits the decking and is very tame. Dunoon with supermarkets and ferry port 12 minutes drive. A walk round Puck's Glen a must.
The Oystershell Lodge were a great house with a fantastic view...We did not miss anything...we relaxed a lot and did not have the feeling for sightseeing tours....Pub was in the near...nice place with good food...
Amazing views and wonderful to have the sea at the bottom of the garden! Lots of space inside and there was everything we needed with a wee toddler.
A comfortable cottage with a great view and nice deck to sit out on with perfect peace and quiet. Lots to do in local area and with the ferries can get to Isle of Bute and Kintyre. The Benmore Botanic garden is splendid as is Puck's Glen. The swimpool in Dunoon is very good especially on rainy days. The owners make you very welcome with eggs, milk and other goodies which was much appreciated. We didn't try the Quadbikes also based on the farm but they looked fun. Outside the cottage there is a red squirrel and lots of birds including a woodpecker. There are also bats who seem to like tryi...more
Overall the property was great, only let down by the bathroom and dodgy shower. Believe the bathroom and kitchen are being replaced so should be fine going forward.
Cosy and warm, spacious bedroom and bathroom, kitchen area confined. Well equipped Dog hairs on bed though.
Much enjoyed our short stay. The chalet suited us perfectly. Superb collection of books for those like my wife and myself as regular Scottish hill-walkers. Shame about the wonderful view over the loch obscured by tall trees though this does not detract too much from the overall quality taking into account the very reasonable cost for the stay. A couple of maintenance points (which shouldn't be seen as criticism): (1) shower room/toilet - rather strong smell from dampness but NOT as a result of poor cleanliness. Probably the result of dampness under the floor. (2) (minor point) besi...more
Property very nice and clean with lots of the things you would normally have to take already provided e.g. Dishwasher tablets, washing powder etc. What let it down was the lack of instructions for things like freestat, how to play a DVD on play station. Confirmation provided on booking and a few days before was not up to date i.e. Wrong housekeeper contact, wrong place where instructions were to be found, no bag for glass as stated. Outside furniture not that comfortable for someone with mobility needs. No outside umbrella provided(would have been helpful on first sunny day). Hot tub was great...more
We had a wonderful time at the Boat House, cosy with the fireplace, beautiful view (even otters came along) and quiet. We got flowers and herbs from Richard from the garden and also tried some vegetables. :-) Just to be helpfull the following: Some things can be a bit better. The wood for the stove should be a little smaller fore the Boat House or an ax would be helpfull. The kitchen is a bit outdated but still functional. The outside of the house could use a little paint. The windows need to be cleaned at the inside to have an even better view ;-).
We had such a lovely holiday in this beautiful corner of Scotland, and the house ticked all the right boxes for our needs. It was spacious and comfortable and just a short walk to reach the little gem of Crinan below. Amazing sunsets over Jura from the house, and an amazing collection of interesting books!
Had a lovely stay at Ros Mhor Gardens while visiting my Nan. The apartment was lovely lots of space. Perfect for a little getaway. I only have one suggestion and that is to maybe think of putting a stair gate up on top of the stairs as we had to try and block it off so our little boy didn’t fall down them, but apart from that was lovely.
I scored Ok for cleanliness as there were a lot of cobwebs around. Our dog's ball went under the sofa and it was filthy under there. There was dust on a lot of surfaces and in the corners. We had a lovely welcome pack of eggs, milk, meringues etc but the owners did not come to say hello. Despite it being advertised as such, there is no wifi or internet connection. The owner could not rectify this and told me it was just a poor signal. This feature is the main thing we look for in a holiday cottage. Otherwise the cottage was comfy and I had the best sleep ever in a very comfy bed.
