A lovely comfortable, well equipped cottage for a memorable and relaxing week in Yorkshire. This is our second stay, our first in Fox. Lovely views of the hills and White Horse. Peaceful location but not far from many places to visit. 30 minutes from York Park and ride. Nunnington Hall and Beningbrough Hall are worth a visit.
We really enjoyed our daily swim in the pool.
Overall a wonderful weeks holiday. Thank you

This was our third visit to Old Oak Cottages and once again we had a lovely holiday. It’s such a beautiful and peaceful location and the cottages are very clean and comfortable.

Have Stayed many times and it never fails to deliver a great experience the owners are so friendly and helpful Perfect location lovely comfortable cottage with lovely welcome pack the Indoor pool is great close to all amenities you require.Fabulous views of the White Horse whilst sitting in the garden enjoying a nice meal and drink lots of great local pubs to eat in too .The most important thing though is Alfie our fox red Labrador loves it .

We had such a good stay, blessed by good weather, which always helped. The views were stunning and it was great to be able to ride bikes, play tennis, play in the play area, see the animals and go for walks. It was chilly in the evenings but the fire was a lovely option to have. We would love to stay again!
The family were lovely and it was a treat to stay there and enjoy Yorkshire - there’s so much more we want to do and see!

Loved ev.ery minute cottage had everything that we needed with a warm welcome from the owners. Ideal location with wonderful views and information pack with recommendations for eating out and places to visit. The pool was fantastic our grandson loved it along with play area trampoline football field and nets tennis court all a bonus not forgetting the welcome pack to start off with incase you needed milk,bread, jam,biscuits, butter teabags ect will be definitely doing a return visit hopefully longer next time to do the walks in the surrounding areas thankyou so much for our stay x

We had a very nice day in Fox cottage. The swimming pool next door was very popular with the children. The weather was not great whilst we were there, but everybody had a great time.

We had the most wonderful stay in Fox Cottage. The cottage itself had everything we needed for a comfortable stay for our family and the additional facilities (pool, laundry room, playground) made it extra special.
Feeding the Shetland pony every day was a highlight and the friendly personal service from the owners was a nice touch.
The area is fantastic with so much to see and do, really great pubs with exceptional food and local shops and restaurants to ensure we had everything we needed.
We will definitely be back.

We have stayed at Old Oak cottages many times and it always feels like home to us. Very comfortable well equipped cottage in a peaceful rural location. A great place to relax and unwind as well as exploring this beautiful part of Yorkshire.

This was our third visit to Old Oak Cottages with family staying in Fox and Owl. As ever, the accommodation was comfortable and safe. We used the pool every day and the tennis court and play areas provided lots of entertainment for children of all ages. Lots of sightseeing locally and the RHS gardens were very enjoyable together with lovely local pub lunches; this all amounted to the perfect week away. We will definitely be back.

Nice cottage with comfy beds. Lacking some utensils in the kitchen eg a sieve. It was good to have more than 5 place settings.
Lovely pool and good facilities on site. Nowhere to hang your towels which could be explored. Using a small communal utility area not an option for us. Generally a little impersonal from the owners compared to other cottages we have stayed but sort of works.

I am a little confused that you found us (owners) a little impersonal as both John and myself together with our daughter Amy had the pleasure of talking to you most days throughout your week with us, when we saw you walking your dog and were out and about with your children looking at the hens, our goat Gerogie and Gryff our pony. We are on hand to deal with any issues/offer advice. The communal utility area is shared by only 3 of our cottages (most of our cottages have their own) and has washing machine, tumble drier and large freezer. There are also airers available for guests to take into their own cottages, so I am sorry you missed these. Amanda

The cottage is warm and comfortable but not luxurious. It has a super view of the White Horse. The location is handy for exploring the area and the swimming pool is a real asset. We would certainly visit again.

We are slightly disappointed to read that you felt Fox was not luxurious - we have many, many guests who would probably disagree, but I suppose everyone's opinon of 'luxurious' may differ. Fox is at the very top end of 4* Gold Award accreditation by Visit England. All our cottages are either 4* Gold or 5* Gold Accreditation and we note that you chose to book a 4* cottage rather than a 5* cottage - of which there were 2 available at the time of your stay. Have stayed at Old Oak Cottages twice a year for quite a few years. Beautiful cottages, well equipped. Amanda/Amy always on hand for any problems, not that we’ve ever had one. Lovely welcome pack containing nice quality items most appreciated. My Lab Izzy made most welcome, she loved her jar of treats. We will be back

A lovely cottage with great walks from the doorstep. Particularly enjoyed the swimming pool at this time of year and therefore considered the holiday great value for money.Only downside was that I found the single bed a bit small.

Brilliant just a shame we are not able to use the steam room . We have been coming for Christmas for the last ten years and our stay has always been excellent . We will be booking again for Christmas 2014.

This was our fourth stay at Old Oak Cottages and we have already booked our next trip. The cottage setting is idyllic, handily placed for Thirsk. Scarborough, Whitby and York all within an hour or so by car. Having a swimming pool is another bonus, all in all a great place to with everything needed for a relaxing UK break, and John and Amanda are always on hand should you need anything.

Fox cottage is an excellent base for exploring this part of Yorkshire. The cottage is well supplied and comfortable for a family of up to 5. An Added bonus is the lovely swimming pool. There is also a utility room with washer, drier and freezer and an excellent safe play area.
