Mullins House is part of the historic Brinkburn Estate in Northumberland. It is a semi-detached property, traditional in style but boasts a modern and cosy interior. It is ideally situated in the heart of Northumberland with easy access to the coast and Castles, Cheviot Hills, Northumberland National Park, and Hadrian's Wall. All our guests also have access to 30 acres of wood land the river and fields. Brinkburn Priory and Manor House are also just on your doorstep. The main entrance leads into a spacious yet incredibly cosy lounge, with comfortable sofas and a magnificent wood burning stove (initial supply of wood and kindling provided). There’s a flat screen TV with DVD player and digital channels, books and games. The downstairs is open plan and from the lounge is the kitchen. It is stylish and contemporary, comprehensively equipped with all the usual appliances; electric oven and ceramic hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, Dolce Gusto coffee machine. There is a dining table which seats 4. Upstairs, there’s a beautifully spacious room with twin beds which can be made up as a super-kingsize bed. The second bedroom is a cosy room with a kingsize bed ensuite showerroom and a south-facing window overlooking the garden, open fields and woodland. The room is carpeted.

We live on site and we are happy to help with any aspect of your stay with us. There is also an office which is usually staffed Monday to Friday from 9am – 5pm. Should you have any problems outside of these times, there is always someone available to help.

Neighbourhood overview
Bel House is located in a quiet rural location. The 12th Century Brinkburn Priory is on your doorstep, as are lots of beautiful walks on the Brinkburn Estate along the river Coquet. There is lots of wildlife to enjoy, from kingfishers, otters, and salmon in the river to wonderful night time skies. Longframlington is 5 minutes drive away and boasts an award-winning shop, artisan bakery and coffee shop, a butchers and a pub. Rothbury is 10 minutes away by car, where you will find banks, a Post Office, Doctor’s surgery, pharmacy and vets– as well as lots of shops and pubs. We are also just 10 minutes away from the beautiful National Trust property at Cragside. There are
plenty of good restaurants, pubs and coffee shops near-by, but please be aware that you probably need a car to reach them.

Getting around
You will really need a car to get around, but we have plenty of room to store bikes if you’d like to bring them. There is a bus stop ten minutes walk away, but there isn’t a footpath – it’s just a short walk along the main road. The nearest train station is in Morpeth, which is 15 minutes away bar car. Newcastle International Airport is around 40 minutes away. We are happy to provide details of local taxi services.

Other things to note
Please be aware that there is limited mobile phone reception at Brinkburn. There is now superfast broadband and wi-fi access

Mullins House was the perfect location for a week away in early July, after the stresses and strains of the Covid-19 lockdown. The location was perfect for exploring Northumberland’s incredible coastline (England’s best kept secret?) and the national park areas, and we particularly enjoyed trips to Embleton Bay, Alnwick gardens, Cragside, and a boat trip to the Farne Islands. The house was spotlessly clean, very comfortable and well equipped. It was a treat to have beautiful Brinkburn priory on the doorstep, the grounds of which we could enjoy morning and evening before / after it was open to the public. The owners of Brinkburn holiday cottages are delightful and made us feel very welcome. We will recommend to friends and hope to visit again.

Welcoming and spotlessly clean. The welcome hamper was amazing and it was good to find some basics in the kitchen. Beds very comfortable. A great base to explore Northumberland. Good for dogs - bowl and towel, and Poo bags provided . Good walking down lane to Priory and longer walks from there.

Finding Mullins near friends in Morpeth, near the Great North Run and near delightful Rothbury was great: lovely place, with walking country all around, and a marvelous hub for visiting Northumberland in every direction. We were very comfy and Mullins was just right to stay 'at home' in when we wanted a sit and rest day, too.

We had 4 families staying at Brinkburn in 4 separate dwelllings. Over the Christmas week. What a fantastic location. With such a large group we all ate and cooked at the stables which when using the White room was superb. The properties have been cleverly designed to give you s feeling of space with old and new features throughout the houses.
The owners where very helpful and friendly but allowed us to just get on with things.
The location is very central and makes a great base if you want to explore the the local countryside. What a find, we will be back

This is a lovely place to stay and we were very well looked after. We've already planned to return.

This was a lovely place to stay. The location is gorgeous; the house, comfortably elegant; the team, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. It was the perfect place to relax and recharge. From thoughtful and personal touches (ice in the freezer, a fire ready in the grate) to suggestions for walks and pubs, we were well looked after. We've planned our return!

Having already stayed at the Stables earlier this year we had high expectations. We were not disappointed. Mullins House is delightful. It is comfortable, warm, and well equipped. It is also reasonably priced. We’ll be back.
