Llys Awel has breathtaking views across to distant Snowdonia, and is only minutes away from the stunning Malltraeth estuary, perfect for families, walkers, cyclists and nature lovers.

Comfortably nestled on a country lane overlooking the Malltraeth Marsh, a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest, it is unique for its birdwatching, estuary and migrating birds. Within easy reach is the 2000-acre Newborough Forest and its glorious sandy beach, which borders Llanddwyn Island, home of Dydd Santes Dwynwen, the patron saint of Welsh lovers! The Isle of Anglesey Coastal Path is easily accessible and there are many visitor attractions close by including the impressive National Trust property Plas Newydd, the Anglesey Sea Zoo and Foel Farm Park. A myriad of outdoor pursuits and dramatic mountain scenery are a short drive away on the mainland in the Snowdonia National Park.

lovely cottage throughout , We are big bird watchers and nature people,so this cottage ticked a lot of boxes for us , waders on the estuary and the red squirrels in the Forrest just down the road ,the cottage was clean and the cutlery draws were so tidy it has to be mentioned , the garden was a really nice retreat for the couple of nights we had the weather for it ,

cost wise I did find this really good value for money and will try and book this cottage in future years

This was our second visit to Llys Awel and it was just as enjoyable as the previous year.
The cottage is spacious, with a comfortable sitting room and a large very well-equipped kitchen. The bedrooms are a good size and the beds extremely comfortable. The bathrooms are clean and practical, and the showers work well.
The garden is lovely and the outdoor seating attractive and comfortable. Our dog especially enjoyed the garden.
The siutation of the cottage is ideal if you like walking and wildlife, which are on your doorstep.

Overall a good property in a rural location. Local amenities a little lacking though.

All the facilities you would expect for a self catering cottage with a beautiful garden. Stairs were a bit narrow and turned at the top which could have been helped by a grab handle. The addition of an EV charging point would be a good upgrade.

The cottage was well equipped and we had a lovely stay. The beds were so comfortable (so much that we looked where the mattress was from so we can get one!) The enclosed garden was a credit. Near forest and beaches. Would recommend.

Really great stay at Llys Awel. It is clearly a well-loved, home-from-home property. Very well equipped, we wanted for nothing whilst we were there and found it a really comfortable, cosy and relaxing place to be. To be able to look in the evening at the mountains we had climbed that day was a proper treat. The garden is gorgeous & our kids loved it.
Location was perfect - we cycled from the door to Newborough Forest & the beach beyond, and also the Lon las Cefni. Wildlife from the door is the best we’ve seen for a while. Overall a 5 star stay, thankyou!

Had an amazing week at Llys Awel. Cannot fault this house - spacious, spotlessly clean, everything you need, so comfortable & a lovely garden. A real home from home. The wine & Welsh cakes were a lovely touch, thank you. The ever changing view from the master bedroom was stunning - especially Snowdonia in the distance. Great location for exploring the island with fabulous beaches. A visit to Newborough Warren is a must, right on your doorstep! We had some lovely walks straight from the house and would highly recommend a stay here.

Beautiful cottage. Home from home. The garden was so pretty makes you not want to move and go anywhere. Everything you need was provided to make your stay comfortable.
Lovely walk from cottage to the forest along the cob. Beaches were lovely. Again long walks along the sandy beaches. People very friendly and helpful.
Planning our next visit.

We all enjoyed our stay at the cottage. The layout suited us well as I and my husband stayed on the ground floor (I have mobility issues) while my sister and her husband were upstairs. Our bedroom was spacious and the beds superbly comfortable. I did wonder whether I could get into the bath for my morning shower but managed it. A walk-in shower downstairs would have been easier.
The large kitchen was very well equipped with cutlery, dishes and cooking utensils etc. There was plenty of room for food preparation and there was a good-sized dining table. However, we would have liked some instructions on using the microwave, as it was not straightforward, and the buttons were hard to see. The double oven was simple to use but it would have been a help to get some guidance on using the induction hob, which not everyone has.
We had a problem with the central heating, as we did not know how to operate it, and we found the cottage quite cold in the mornings. It took some days before the agent indicated the control mechanism, but even then it was far from clear how it worked. Obviously we only needed the heating in the mornings as we went out during the day. Again, some instructions were necessary.
Another problem we had was the unreliable broadband and mobile coverage at the cottage, but this is obviously out of the control of the owner. However, a word of warning would have been helpful.
The dining area opened onto the garden, which was really lovely. There was a seating area in a sunny corner with modern garden furniture which we much enjoyed. Our dog loved to explore the garden, and it was well enclosed so we had no worries that he could get out.
The cottage is situated on a quiet lane on the edge of the village of Malltraeth, which is nothing special, but its position at the head of the estuary makes the surrounding area of marshland and lakes a paradise for wildlife, and birds in particular. There are lovely easy walks to be had from the cottage, and it is not far away from Newborough Forest, where you might see red squirrels.
This was our first visit to Anglesey and we were enchanted by it. Driving around is easy and the satnav worked well!
