An award winning collection of a gorgeous farmhouse and adjoining cottage sleeping up to 18 and an additional cottage one minutes walk across the paddock sleeping 6. The properties are situated in a very beautiful and peaceful location in the wonderful Wye Valley almost equidistant from Hereford and Hay on Wye. Monnington House Garden Cottage and The Cider Mill are very suitable properties for celebrating milestone birthdays or anniversaries and group gatherings at all times of year.

There are 6 spacious bedrooms and 6 bathrooms in Monnington House. Garden Cottage which adjoins Monnington House has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms including one ground floor bedroom. The Cider Mill is all on one level and has 3 en suite bedrooms. All beds throughout are hypnos superking zip and link and come with fine 400 count Egyptian linen. The working kitchen is geared up for catering and numbers and is a very sociable space. The dining area both inside and outside seat 24 comfortably. Caterers work often in the house. There are 5 further reception rooms ideal for quiet reading, watching TV, playing board games or working.

The exceptional peaceful, beautiful and tranquil surroundings of Monnington House, Garden Cottage and The Cider Mill always interests our guests. Situated at the end of a No Through Road, encompassed by acres of cider orchards and farmland. The gardens and grounds amount to more than 3 acres to enjoy and include a large playing field with 2 football goals. There are numerous choices of walks to suit all abilities straight from the door including the Wye Valley Walk. In the outbuildings there is a rustic table tennis room and a games room with pool table and table football.

Oakchurch the farmshop is1.8 miles from the house which is very convenient and a visit will enhance your stay. The Red Lion at Bredwardine and Garden Cafe at Brobury House Gardens are within a good hours walk. Visits to Hay on Wye, Hereford and Presteigne are enjoyed. Go karting at Weobley, canoeing at nearby Bycross and tennis and padel in Hereford are the usual activities our guests enjoy.

This was our second year at Monnington, a group of 17 friends, now hitting 70. The location is perfect, there is so much to do, visiting gardens, walking, visiting Hay and Hereford and just enjoying the garden and facilities at Monnington itself. The house is very comfortable and really well equipped, generous amounts of crockery, glass, cookware etc.. Nothing is skimpy, there are pictures, rugs, ornaments that make it all feel homely and cared for, but neutral enough that it doesn't feel like someone else's home. Also generous staples and treats left in all 3 houses. Anna and her team are quick to respond to any queries or concerns.

Each year there seem to be improvements - in 2025 the new terrace and there are plans for a new outdoor room in 2026. We have already booked for next year. My only reservation about giving such a positive review is the fear that it will become too booked up!

All bedrooms have king size beds and have their own bathroom. This does make a huge difference. Herefordshire has lots to offer and appeals to many types. Look forward to welcoming you back next May. We booked Monnington House & Cider Mill for an extended family gathering, with ages from 15 to 85 meeting up from across the country. Directions were easy to follow, location was convenient & surroundings were beautiful in amongst the apple orchards. The house was lovely with plenty of space & everything we needed, including comfortable beds, nice bathrooms & a great kitchen fully equipped to cater for 24. Would be tricky to do without cars but would definitely book again.

All 3 properties are comfortable furnished and equipped to a very high standard. The 3 reception rooms enabled the different age groups to get together without anyone feeling cut off from the party. The Games room provided a lot of entertainment. All
the spacious bedrooms provided comfy mattresses, ensuite facilities andlots of hot water. We all wished to stay longer to enjoy all the comforts and explore the beautiful countryside, historic locations and super pubs in the area

What a fantastic group properties. Our extended family had an incredible week here. The 3 properties together gave us enough bedrooms with no one feeling like a poor relation
The kitchen is excellent and our 2 professional chefs within the party were very happy to cook here
The games room is fun and the property was warm and welcoming
Would definitely recommend and we will be back.

This was one of the best of many family holidays we have enjoyed over the last 20 years.
There were 19 of us ranging from 17 to 82 years of age and, occupying all three premises, all appreciated the excellent accommodation (including all rooms being en-suite). The location is great as are the facilities..
We made good use of the games rooms with an extremely competitive table tennis tournament taking place throughout the week.
Our self catering was made easy by the excellent provision of all the kitchen equipment we were likely to need.
Although spread out over the three properties we were able to eat our main meal together in the main house. With it's 4 lounges there was plenty of room for evening board games and chat.
The online guides provided by the Owner were so helpful, comprehensive and readable. Well done!

Monnington provided a superb setting for our gathering, in an idyllic position in the Wye valley this 5* accommodation certainly has everything. Lots of space inside and out, everything supplied or the perfect getaway. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful three nights at Monnington House for my mother's 90th birthday with four generrations of family. The house was very comfortable and well equipped and there was a good choice of outdoor and indoor activities from badminton to snooker, It was warm despite the chilly weather. Debbie provided us with a delicious meal on the first evening and a lovely birthday cake for my mother. The owners responded very positively to our request in advance for some large cooking pots so we were able to cater for more than 20 adults. A rough local map with suggested walks would have been useful as it took a while for us to work them out.. .

I am so pleased the 90th birthday celebrations went according to plan and Debbie, the authorised caterer provided delicious food. Details of walks from the house and nearby are listed in the Touchstay Guide which is circulated in the pre-arrival letter and detailed also on the website. There is also a QR code in the house which can be scanned too. There are 2 books on the hall table; The Welsh Marches 40 Town and Country Walks and Wye Valley 40 Hill and Riverside Walks. We had a fantastic early xmas party here at Monnington House and the Cider Mill. The venue is brilliant, a fantastic set up suitable for the wide range of ages and interests in our group.

The venue managers were very helpful and made sure we had a wonderful stay. Would highly reccommend.

The property filled the brief for 22 friends who all need own bathroom. Bed linen and beds are very luxurious. Toiletries provided are limited. Well equipped kitchen which works well for large party - though surprised on a property advertised as luxury to be required to take dishwasher tablets and liquid as only the minimum amount would be provided! Lovely selection of goodies left as a welcome basket. Owner responds very quickly to queries. Enjoyed a delicious meal cooked by Debbie on the Saturday evening. Fab local farm shop 5 mins away. All in all a great place to stay for a large party - we had a fun weekend. We have been going away as a group for 15 plus years and we don’t go back to many properties but this is one we would definitely return too! Thank you to Anna and her team.

We detail what is supplied or not at the point of booking to make all guests fully aware of what is or is not included. Details of our toiletries supplied by Myddfai Trading Company which supports social enterprise are noted on our website and also in the information folder on site. And yes our accommodation is almost unique in that each of the 12 bedrooms have their own bathroom. It offers wonderful accommodation for large groups or families as noted. Best wishes

Staying at Monnington House and it’s beautiful Cottages was a joy, perfect in every way. The kitchens had everything you could possibly want/need in them. The bedrooms in the main house are spacious and very comfortable, as are the downstairs rooms. The cottages are a delight, very comfortable and cosy, ideal if you have family members who might like to get away from the hustle and bustle in the main house. The outside spaces for all three properties are excellent. So many different areas for youngsters to play (grown-ups too!) We we’re celebrating two 60th birthdays so made use of the catering option on the Saturday evening and the meal was fantastic! The river Wye is just a short distance away and many of our guests brought SUP’s and made good use of the lovely beach there, they had a blast! Oakchurch garden centre is an absolute treasure! So well stocked and the people are lovely. I can’t recommend Monnington House, Garden Cottage and The Cider Mill highly enough. Our guests loved staying so much they didn’t want to return home! A superb location which is really well equipped with a fabulous garden and surroundings. We used all three properties with our age group from 9 to 78 yrs, it was just perfect for us, With a whole range of activities to suit every age.
A massive well equipped kitchen was the centre of the week even as a disco for the 50th celebration. Monnington House is just beautiful and has many areas whatever your mood.
We have just had one of the most memorable family holidays ever. Just one comment like so many places we have been, could we have more coat hangers! And we are still smiling.
