This beautiful farmhouse has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and is located in a stunning position at the end of a mile long rough track with outstanding views to Jura. It is a short walk to a beautifully secluded sandy beach, Cable Bay.

I was expected quite basic accommodation on a Scottish island but was delighted with Balerominmohr! It felt warm, cosy & homely. There was only the two of us with the dog but we didn't feel like we were rattling around. The situation is great with the stunning Cable Bay just a stroll away....I am tempted not to tell anyone else about the place so I can keep it for myself!

We had a marvellous time & our 2 teenage guests were all over the island on foot, on bikes or once or twice daily ,swimming! For less active among us there were shorter walks, perhaps to the beautiful beach at Cable Bay or across the Strand to Oronsay. And the view of The Paps of Jura across the water from a comfortable chair we admired day after day.It did'nt rain the sun shone sometimes & we had a lovely meal one evening at tha Hotel. The only down-side was the approach road - rocky & uneven.Cars need good ground clearance;heavily loaded cars (as ours was) avoid the stones with difficulty, but it's not impossible

The house was tastefully decorated and furnished and very clean. Stunning location but down a mile long track, 4x4 vehicle adviseable. Kitchen very well equipped. Short walk to beach which on a sunny day was paradise, water and beach so amazingly clean. The only obvious thing lacking was an external tap/hose pipe to clean beach gear, wetsuits etc. Not cheap, but you pay for what you get.

Really enjoyed our stay here despite Covid limitations and great to have no Tv/ internet we could really relax away from news . Got signal on nearby hill if desperate . The property was comfortable and easy to be in , homely and bright. We’ve stayed here before , the higher fence around garden made big difference to the condition of the grass. House decor and colours lovely.
Would put tiles or glass behind kitchen sink and cooker side to help with cleaning .

Fantastic location looking towards Jura and very comfortable lodgings. However the access track is absolutely awful - and is suitable for a 4 X 4 only (echoed by local garage owner who said the work triggered by this trail pays for his holidays!). Also, felt a little unwelcoming when we compare to other rentals we frequent. Arriving on a stormy night (as scheduled) down a dark track, fire not set and no lights or heating on. Also voucher for glass of wine at hotel IF buying a main meal. For similar holiday lets, there is typically a complimentary bottle of wine and alike. Just observations when comparing to similar experiences. Really enjoyed our time and loved the island.

Lovely cottage. Very comfortable. Access is down a long and rough track (easy enough to drive if you have good ground clearance on your car), but as long as you're ok with that, then I'd highly recommend this cottage.

We took this cottage for 3 weeks, during which we entertained our friends and family..it’s the first time we have stayed in this particular house, although we have been coming to Colonsay for many years. This has to be the best place to stay, with stunning views out to Jura, a lovely garden Cable beach a 10 minute walk away. The house is cosy and well appointed, with superb showers, that really get you wet!

Perfect winter retreat, toasty warm, masses of hot water in the 5 bathrooms, wood burning stove in the sitting room, Rayburn in the kitchen.

Really well equipped and extremely comfortable. Great Beds, lovely bed linen, downy duvets - best sleeps!

Sea views towards Jura were ever changing. Sun rises over the paps were stunning.

Love this house so much, we’ll be back!

If you can cope with a very rough mile-long track to reach this glorious place, it is as good as it gets! Stunning views and total peace and privacy. The new extension to the house has transformed what was good holiday house to a fantastic holiday house! With the addition of a wonderful dining/sitting room and lots of shower/bathrooms the house works really well for a party of 12 people. I cannot recommend it more highly!

This lovely holiday home is less than 5 kilometres from Scalasaig where the ferry arrives. It feels, however, as if you are miles away from anywhere. The house is at the end of a long rough track and there is no traffic noise. There is a real 'wow' factor when you reach your destination and see the view over the sea to the Paps of Jura. It's then only a short walk down to what could be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! We arrived on a beautiful sunny evening and felt we had arrived in paradise! When the weather is wet, or in any weather actually, the sunroom/dining area allows you to appreciate in comfort the ever changing view of the sea and Jura. There are lots of wildlife to spot and, on our visit, there were many ewes with young lambs around the house. The kitchen adjoining the sunroom has a raeburn stove which kept the place very cosy and the kitchen itself is a very pleasant and nicely decorated space with all thats needed. The bedrooms are also well decorated with comfy beds and most have ensuite bathrooms with very powerful and hot showers. There are baths for those that prefer and there is one bath that has a great view out over the sea to the Paps so that is a special treat. There is a big enclosed garden with plenty of outside seats and a large table. We didn't bring a dog but thought it was a lovely touch to provide a special dog blanket. Its a great location for walks around that end of the island without needing to take your car anywhere.
If you appreciate beauty, sea views and getting away from it all then this house comes highly recommended!
ps the local shop will deliver provisions to your kitchen for your arrival!

Our early winter stay (first week in November) proved a great success, although we certainly had some wild weather. The house was wonderfully comfortable and warm, and the sitting room fire easy to light and made for lovely long evenings. Our overall extra fuel bill came to £105 (electricity and oil.) though it wasn't a particularly cold week. The new extension is a great success, with breakfast on the long table watching the sunrise across Jura a particular high point of the day. We think the track is still a problem, but OK if taken slowly. Having no internet, tv or phone signal was a bit of a challenge for some in the party, a joy for others! I missed the radio slightly, (for weather forecasts mainly) but could just get a signal in the top back bedroom. Sightings of the hen harrier flying past were exciting. The hotel being closed from the beginning of November was a bit of a blow, (we'd planned to drop in for a drinks and log on) but the shop was open and well stocked and the Pantry open on boat days.

Wonderful house, ideal for the 3 generations who holidayed together for the first time. We had plenty of space, a bathroom each and found the kitchen to be very well equipped. The new extension was well used both for dining and just sitting looking out at the fabulous view of Jura. On blustery and wet days the house was cosy- the living room stove was a great boon.

This otherwise idyllic property does not have internet access. Nor is there a mobile signal. Indeed Colonsay generally lacks internet access to a satisfactory standard. Colonsay is not part of Connected Britain. That is why I have rated this property as poor value for money.
I did not come to Colonsay to connect to my office. I came to walk, relax and enjoy nature's sights and sounds. I use online OS maps for walking, online information resources for tide times, weather, ferry updates and local activities. Having spotted a bird of prey, I use the RAPB website to identify it. If an orchid attracts my attention, the internet will tell me all about it. Not, sadly, in Balerominmhor.
The house is otherwise delightful, though the kitchen is very basically equipped.
