Great stay in a very well appointed former farmhouse in a stunning location looking out to the Paps of Jura. Only five minutes talk from a lovely beach, with ready access to many more of the beautiful beaches of Colonsay and Oransay.
We've stayed before and it didn't disappoint, clean well furnished and equipped. Its great having the gardens and woodlands so close and a short walk to the glorious Kiloran Bay.
If you have even the smallest chance of staying at Baleromindubh House on Colonsay ... GRAB IT WITH BOTH HANDS! Colonsay is a delightful , calming, beautiful place - stunning beaches and great walks . Baleromindubh House is a fabulous base from which to explore everything on the island. Beautifully kept up, well equipped and in a stunning location, with plenty of room for friends and family . Just a brilliant place - with a fantastic team behinds the scenes to ensure everything goes as smoothly as you would want it to
Stunning position on a beautiful island. Well equipped except for hairdryer. As it was the third week in May and lovely weather we felt it unnecessary to leave all the heating on it took days to notice some of the heaters and underfloor heating and switch them off thus adding to our electricity bill! We had a super week but as it was to celebrate my eightieth birthday I very sadly doubt I will be able to return
We spent three nights here at the end of April and loved it. Isolated and homely with everything you need. Well looked after and well managed it was a pleasure to stay here. Loved the island, the wildlife, the weather, the walks. Would definitely stay again.
We were all impressed by Turnigil apartment, the characterful decor and furnishings. The kitchen and bathroom have been upgraded. More space than we had imagined but with sunny dry days during our stay we were out every day. A peaceful wonderful place to stay.
For a comfortable stay on Colonsay we would recommend Colonsay House apartments. Great location with plenty of options to walk from house. Lovely gardens and tasty cakes in the tea shop. Great birdwatching with coast, cliffs, woods, heath and moor with Sea Eagle, Golden Eagle, Corncrake and Hen Harrier on your doorstep. Lovely beach. Only thing lacking was a sea view!
Lovely location and adequately equipped but layout of flat itself not ideal. Steep, uncarpeted stairway opening onto a narrow landing between the bathroom and kitchen doors. A nasty accident awaits I feel. And as visitors are tasked with sorting own rubbish this is more up and down stairs carrying stuff. We found the beds and pillows too hard for our liking.
Another comfortable and convenient stay for eight regulars. A problem arose with carpets covered in dog hair from a previous occupant , though not apparent at first, any movement brought up clumps of hair. Living room stairs and a bedroom were affected. Staff response was however excellent, and this issue didn’t detract from a very enjoyable stay.
Unfortuately, our ferry from Port Askaig to Colonsay on the morning of Wednesday 1st April was cancelled the day before in the afternoon. There was no availabilty from Kennacraig/Oban either. There needs to be a compulsary refund built into the price of a holiday in Colonsay, on account of ferries not running. This inévitably will make it more expensive but I think it’s a price worth paying, both for the holiday property owners and the visitors. I personally don’t think I would risk booking at Colonsay House again.
A wonderful house that has space and comfort for family and friends to base themselves to enjoy the delights of what Colonsay has to offer. Machrins and Colonsay never fail to make a family holiday both enjoyable and memorable. Thank you. Elliot & Alison Jardine
Enjoyed our stay at The cottage despite mixed weather which meant that although we had rain we also did have a lot of sunshine. Lots of lovely scenery to enjoy and excellent location for The Cottage. Eating was a joy at The Pantry which is a little gem. Felt very welcome among the local people and local shop. Beaches were lovely especially Kiloran and can recommend the little cottage especially for a family. Being elderly our walking was limited but nevertheless we made the most of short walks. Will have happy memories of the island.
A cozy cottage in a lovely situation. Didn’t mind it having no television and slow Wi-Fi. Well equipped and comfy beds. Really appreciate that it had sharp knives for cooking.
Pond Cottage was lovely. It was really clean and spacious and had everything we needed. It is in the most tranquil location near to the grounds of Colonsay House. We loved everything about the property.
The Kennels is an excellent neat holiday cottage in a most lovely island. As we said a year ago, This cottage met all our requirements for a peaceful holiday in a delightful location - hence we stayed again. We would warmly recommend staying in this cottage at this time of year and enjoying all the Colonsay can offer.
Two of us in this nice well equipped cottage overlooking Kiloran bay. Bed was very comfortable but the cottage felt quite cool during a cold week in may. Electric heaters just about adequate. Great WiFi if required. Colonsay was stunning in may with bluebells and wild garlic in flower.
Cosy house in a fantastic location just up hill from beach. A mile to Colonsay House. Steep ladder staircase unsuitable for those with mobility issues.
