This very pretty small cottage stands on a rise by itself with panoramic view across the glen to Schiehallion. A wonderful peaceful hideaway where you can walk directly from the cottage.

Beautiful wee cottage in Scottish glen. Really well equipped with extremely comfortable beds. Ideal location for short break, able to do as much or as little as you feel like.

We had another fabulous week in the delightful West Drumchastle cottage. The cottage is warm and cosy in the evenings with the log burner after a day out walking and touring around the Rannoch and Tayside area. There are lovely walks direct from the cottage too, and some stunning views over Dunalastair Water towards the majestic Schiehallion literally from the cottage front door.
The cottage is homely and fully equipped, and the internet connection is fast too. The garden is big and secure, and is ideal for the dogs to work off steam. The only downside to a holiday at West Drumchastle is a week just isn't long enough! What more can I say!!

This was our second visit to the Dunalistair estate this year. Lovely to have milk tea and coffee available as soon as you arrive after a long journey, and a phone call to check you have arrived ok.
West Drumchastle is in a lovely elevated position with a garden securely fenced which was excellent for the dogs. Very peaceful and comfortable cottage. This is a brilliant base to explore the area, with lovely walks around the estate and easy connections to go further afield.
We hope to visit again soon.

I have been going to this area for a lot of years and have stayed in other Dunalastair cottages. They have all been nice and this one was no different.
Everything you needed for a quiet holiday. I can’t think of anything else that I would have needed. The heating, plumbing and electricity all worked well on my visit.
I was extra lucky as I had great sunny weather.

Our first stay and it won’t be out last - what a view
You could easily stay in this cottage and never leave - the view of Schiehallion is spectacular - ever changing
Cottage was clean and comfortable with everything you need to make your stay perfect. Guest books reads of people returning for years to this cottage which is a compliment in itself

We have stayed on the Dunalastair Estate almost every year since 2008 and have stayed in most of the cottages but West Drumchastle is our favourite. It is ideally located for walking and the views are amazing. If you are looking for a secluded location, still in easy reach of all amenities then this cottage is for you.

We had a brilliant week here and we really loved the homely and authentic feel of West Drumchastle.
The lovely little vase of garden flowers to welcome us was much appreciated. The view of Schiehallion from the bed was just wonderful!
We loved exploring the surrounding area. We especially loved the Birks of Aberfeldy and we really enjoyed the Craig Varr walk on a beautiful sunny day. I had a gorgeous swim in Loch Rannoch one evening and was surprised by how warm the water was!
Thank you for everything Beatrice and thanks for all your help.

A comfortable cottage in a quiet and scenic location. The only drawback is the shower which needs upgrading. Otherwise the perfect place to get away from it all. Jim Shankland very helpful and friendly. Have stayed at many self catering houses and cottages but never received a phone call, as Beatrice did, on the first evening to check everything was ok. That is service. Overall, Dunalastair estate is a stunning location.

Good to hear that you like West Drumchastle. There was a café in the village up to the beginning of April, however they did not continue with their lease and sadly no one else has taken it on. Hopefully this void will be met in someway by the Community Hub which is currently under development, expected date for this to be completed is February 2025.

We chose this cottage specifically because there were walks off road from the cottage. This is true except there are cattle with calves so could not walk our dogs. There is also a busy road with no grass verges which is not ideal. We had to take the car to find a walk suitable. The cottage was nice except the bathroom door didn't shut or lock and many of the windows didn't open.
If we had known all of this we would have chosen a different area or cottage.
The shining light however was Beatrice , the cottage manager , considerate and thoughtful .

Sorry to hear that West Drumchastle did not meet your expectations. The cattle on the hill were young heifers and no calves were with them, all the cows which were to calved were located in the vicinity of the Home Farm where it is easier for the cattle man to check on them. They have since been moved elsewhere in their rotation plan. Upon your departure we have fixed the bathroom door as you had mentioned it on your questionnaire. Unfortunately over the years paint has stuck the windows but it is only the lounge window and kitchen window that this affects, the bedrooms and bathroom windows all open. We will look at this in the winter months to see if we can do anything.

The cottage is in a beautiful location with views of Schiehallion mountain. We visited in early May and cuckoo flowers were blooming all around the wooden fence of the garden, attracting many butterflies and bees. It was comfortable, clean and warm in the cottage with a good bed and fully equipped kitchen. Customer service was personal and responsive in the person of Beatrice who was available quickly by phone. The surrounding area is stunningly beautiful, and, in early May, uncrowded. Unforgettable views of lochs, river, forest and mountains!

This was our third visit to this delightful cottage. The garden is very dog-safe with a good fence on the entire perimeter which gives great peace of mind. The dogs thoroughly enjoyed racing around the big garden when we arrived to let off steam.
From the front door there are stunning views over Dunalastair Water to Schiehallion.
The cottage is warm and cosy, and very comfortable, with a good fast broadband connection. It is only a mile from Kinloch Rannoch village.
The cottage is perfectly located to explore the glen as far as Rannoch Station to the west, or Pitlochry and Aberfeldy to the east.
If you like wildlife and walking in stunning scenery, this cottage is for you.

Another fabulous stay. Cottage is just the right size for two/three people (plus dog and cat). The view towards Schiehallion is fabulous. It's easy to heat thanks to copious amounts of wood provided for the burner. I love it.

This was my second stay at this delightful little cottage, and it totally met all my expectations. When I arrived it was after sunset, but the cottage was illuminated, and warm and welcoming. The wood burner was set and just ready to light. And the milk in the fridge was most welcome for making a much needed pot of tea after the long drive. It was lovely to unwind in the evening with the log burner providing plenty of warmth. It was nice to speak to Rose on the first evening, to confirm we had arrived safely and everything was fine with the cottage.
The weather was mostly dry and sunny for the week, and the dogs loved the long walks at Loch Laidon on Rannoch Moor, Loch Errochty and Loch Con. It was great to see a wide variety of finches and song birds attending the bird feeder in the garden. We also saw Ravens at Loch Ericht on the dam wall, Red Deer on Rannoch Moor, Red Squirrels in the pine woods on Dunalastair Estate and a 'flight' of about 10 Black Grouse near the Errochty dam. The highlight for me was the very rare Sword-grass moth in the garden at the cottage.
We had a fabulous week, which went far too fast. We'll be back in April !!

This was our third stay. This very pretty cottage is located in a quiet location on top of a hill with an amazing view of Schiehallion. It is on its own, with a safe parking area next to the cottage and lovely fenced garden and is easily accessible from the main road. The garden is visited throughout the day by all sorts of birds.

West Drumchastle has everything you require. A fully equipped kitchen and two bedrooms with lovely comfy beds. The snug sitting room has a dining table and chairs, with a settee and armchair and fantastic views out the front window, whilst the small side window looks onto a bird feeder, which is visited by many different birds throughout the day. The main feature of the sitting room is a fantastic wood burning stove which kept us nice and warm throughout our stay. A supply of logs is provided.

A television, with DVD player and Wi-Fi is also provided and worked well. There is also a nice touch, with a good supply of books and games.

There is also a handy vestibule, located just inside the front door, where you can hang your coats and any other gear you may have.

The bathroom is a bit dated and contains a sink, toilet, bath, heated towel-rail and shower. The shower was our only disappointment - the water flow from it is very poor and really requires an upgrade to a power shower.

We had a lovely chat with both Rose (the owner) and Beatrice (the lady who takes care of any issues you may have during your stay). Both were very helpful/friendly and efficiently sorted out a minor problem we had. There is a myriad of information included in the cottage, which includes instructions for everything, local history, amenities and walks in the area.

This lovely, picturesque cottage is a fantastic place to unwind in an isolated but easily accessible location. It won't disappoint and we will back in the near future for a fourth visit.

Thank you for your nice review of your stay in West Drumchastle and on the whole most this meeting your needs. With the cottage being on a private water supply I am afraid the water pressure is not great and not sure if a power shower would work well but we can look into it. Great to hear you will return.

Our cottage was quaint and very comfortable. The view to Schiehallion was stunning and the rural environment around the cottage was beautiful, quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed watching the birds on the feeders very much. The kitchen was small but very well organised and provided all the equipment we needed. I particularly liked the dishwasher - not having one at home! We had a great welcome tray upon arrival, with tea and coffee and biscuit, even a Bonio biscuit for our dog. The whole cottage was clean and tidy and very welcoming. My only reservations were that the shower water pressure was rather low, and we would have liked to open the window in the main bedroom. It seemed to be stuck. However opening the one in the small bedroom and bathroom created some ventilation through the whole cottage so it was not really a problem. We would definitely book again.

Thank you for your nice review of West Drumchastle and nice to hear you enjoyed the splendour of Schiehallion from the cottage. The cottage is on a private water supply and that causes the issues with the pressure, great to hear that this hasn't put you off in returning. The bedroom window does open but it is stiff.

We spent 2 great weeks in the cosy West Drumchastle Cottage.
You will find everything you need in the house, the wi-fi reception is very good.
We especially liked the location and the view from the bed directly onto Shiehallion. From the house you can walk to Kinloch Rannoch and climb Craig Varr. Other great walks are not far away.
Our dog loved the enclosed garden and the walks into the hills behind the house.
We were also very lucky with the weather and had a great vacation. And best of all: No Midges!
Thank you for a great holiday!

This was the first time I stayed at Drumchastle Cottage, and the week went so fast. The views of Schiehallion and Lassintullich from the cottage are outstanding. The cottage is warm and cosy, with every modern need catered for. Wifi was fast and reliable. The kitchen is fully equipped. The evening were a delight, with the log burner being easy to light and providing ample heat.
The dogs thoroughly enjoyed working off excess energy in the large safe and fenced garden.
Altogether just an amazing comfortable cottage and I cannot wait to be back there at our next booking in June. I would definitely recommend Drumchastle to others. My friend has already booked a Dunalastair cottage through my recommendation.

After a tough time I made the decision to take myself back to Kinloch Rannoch for the weekend. The following day I was there! Many, many years ago I spent a number of happy holidays in the area, staying in other cottages on Dunalastair Estate. This was my first time in the smaller West Drumchastle and it was perfect for my dog and I. The facilities, the walks, the views were just what I needed to clear my head and get me back on track. My only complaint is that a weekend was not long enough!

West Drumchastle is a fantastic place to stay. Cosy and comfortable, and there was great effort by staff to add welcoming touches for guests. Although the cottage is a little old fashioned inside, the furnishings are great, and the kitchen is quite modern and well kitted out. Very comfy beds! Location is fantastic - peace and quiet if you want it, but Pitlochry, Blair Atholl, House of Bruar etc are only 30-40 mins away by car, and there are many beautiful walks to go on straight from the cottage. We will definitely try to visit again - we visited in the depths of snowy winter, but would love to see the roses round the door in the warmer months.

We had a terrific week in this immaculately clean, warm, cosy cottage.
Log burner lit at nights kept us super cosy.
Great location for walks and wildlife watching.Saw red squirrels everyday
Lovely welcome call from Beatrice on a very wet Saturday evening too.
Great meals in Minloch Rannoch Hotel.
Lovely days out in Glen Lyon&Fortingall, Kinloch Rannoch Station, Pitlochry and Dunkeld etc.
Definitely be returning asap!

Our 4th stay at Dunalastair but our first time at West Drumchastle.

Cottage was lovely, comfortable and well-equipped. Dog-friendly with securely enclosed garden (and bonios on the welcome tray!).

Stunning view of Schiehallion.

Thank you!

This cottage, with roses and sweet peas round the door and window looks so welcoming and the setting marvelous, totally hidden from the road. The view of Schiehallion brilliant, one felt one only had to stretch one's fingers a little further to be within touching distance. With two dogs it was great to have a fenced garden and to get out onto a hill track direct from the cottage. As far as furnishing and fittings were concerned we were very happy with all that had been provided. One would have been hard pushed to find a kitchen utensil that was missing - 5*. We only gave a 4 for comfort as there is not a separate shower and I found the bath quite high to maneuver into after having two hip replacements, but with care all is possible.
There are marvelous walks in the area and despite having visited the Kilvrecht campsite on numerous occasions in the past we were able to discover new tracks, such as the walk through the caledonian forest to Gunnar's Tree and plaque in memory of Gunnar Godwin who worked to protect the Blackwood of Rannoch and its designation as a reserve as well returning to all the well known routes, such as that over to Glen Lyon and taking the train from Rannoch Station to Corrour Station and walking back to Rannoch Station. Truly a superb time, made all the more memorable by where we were staying. Thank you.

We absolutely love this little hidden gem! It is perfectly situated for peace, solitude, rest and relaxation in the most stunning, secluded setting - with the most stunning view of Schiehallion munro right across the Water. Not for those who are looking for hustle and bustle, but perfect for those looking to get away from it all with amazing walks on the doorstep and a short drive away, plenty of lovely little villages and spots to explore and fishing, hiking and other outdoor pursuits galore! This really is a sanctuary for the soul.

I think this our 6th stay at Dunalalstair Estate and our 4th at West Drumchastle, but we've not been for a few years. West Drumchastle is a lovely cottage, well equipped and comfortable. There's a good short walk behind the cottage for a morning walk for our dog where you can walk to the village though after crossing the burn the ground can be boggy and there's livestock, so dogs will need to be put on a lead. There's also a good hill walk from the cottage with great views all around. The cottage was presented very good and spotless. Highland Perthshire one of our favourite places in the country and Dunalastair Estate is the perfect base to explore this stunning part of the country and its also very easy to explore further afield. Book with confidence Dunalastair Estate Cottages is highly recommended it's a wonderful place to stay no matter which cottage you choose.

We had to rearrange our stay at West Drumchastle a couple of times due to covid, but third time lucky, we decided to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary here and it was perfect. Our first impression on arrival was 'wow' romantic little cottage with excellent views and peace and quiet. All we could hear were the deer and the birds. The cottage is very well equipped, especially the kitchen, any utensil you could need is provided. A lovely touch provided by the owners/manager was a welcome tray of tea, coffee and biscuits and milk. A little dog biscuit was even provided for our puppy. The cottage itself was very cosey and comfortable. We took our own pillows but didn't use them as the bed was very comfy as were the pillows. Lots of useful information was provided regarding the local area and interesting things to do and see. The cottage is around 10 miles off the A9 so we made the most of this and enjoyed the views of the mountains up towards Inverness when visiting Culloden. Wonderful memories were made whilst visiting this beautiful place and lovely little cottage. Thank you, Michelle & Steve, Manchester

The cottage is in a great location for walking and cycling in the Loch Rannoch area. The view of Schiehallion from the front of the cottage is fantastic. The cottage itself was very homely and comfortable. The bathroom could maybe do with a revamp - the bath in particular was scratched and marked in places. Although the main areas of the cottage were clean - living room, kitchen, bathroom - we did find that the beside units had apparently been missed and were covered in a layer of dust and in need of a wipe. This was our only minor issue.

This is our second stay at West Drumchastle, we've also stayed at The Laundry twice, and had the perfect week with my husband and two dogs. This was our 7 month old puppy first holiday and the cottage and garden was ideal for her. The cottage is comfy with the most amazing views and we were lucky to have a sunny and warm week to enjoy the area. The wildlife didn't disappoint with red and row deer on the hill above the cottage every day, plenty of wildlife on all our walks and a far off glimpse of a golden eagle at Loch Laidon.

For us it balances a rural unspoilt location with access to the surrounding areas, I suspect it won't be our last stay!

Fabulous location with wonderful views of Schiehallion to wake up to every morning. Enclosed garden, so ideal for folks with a dog, like us. Very quiet and secluded but near enough to Kinloch Rannoch if you run out of milk or fancy a pint at one of the two hotels. Great walks right from the door and within striking distance of Aberfeldy, Glen Lyon, Pitlochry, Blair Atholl, Kenmore etc. The cottage has everything you need for a couple and if you get yourself organised Tesco will deliver to the door (NB: on the Tesco website it doesn't give this cottage as an option at this post code on their website, only the cottage on the road at the bottom of the drive - so best to keep your eyes open when delivery due) Bits of the cottage are a little tired and could do with a bit of an upgrade - most notably the bathroom, but this didn't stop us from enjoying a wonderful 5 days here - the weather was thankfully good too! The wood burner is a real boon and makes the evenings really cosy.

We stayed for a week in June. Having had postponed our wedding by a year due to lockdown we were looking forward to our honeymoon in this fairy-tale cottage all the more. And we were not disappointed. Upon arrival we found a best wishes card in the kitchen and a bottle of champagne in the fridge - really nice personal touch by Beatrice.

The cottage itself is cosy with comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen and a log burner. There was ample wood prepared for us, though we never lit the fire as it was warm enough. Nice wee garden with freshly cut lawn to relax in with a stunning clear view of the mountain Schiehallion. You have the same view from the bed and from the living room! :-) We loved the climbing roses on both sides of the front bench. Lots of birds kept visiting the feeders outside.

As for location, West Drumchastle offers the best of both worlds. Surrounded by the woods, with its own drive, but close enough to the village for a bit of shopping. Perfect starting point for trips to explore the area.

You could hardly find a better place to stay and we are looking forward to coming back and maybe even trying one of the other cottages at Dunalastair Estate.

Thoroughly enjoyable end of November away-from-it-all 4 night stay in this lovely cottage ideal for 2 people but has beds for 3. Double bed was comfy with a very cosy quilt. Very impressed with the service as the broken toaster was replaced within hours and additional kindling was delivered quickly. Well-equipped kitchen with an easy to use dishwasher. Excellent WiFi - mobile reception is patchy). Loved the log burner - fairly easy to light and clean-out the ashes. Perfect location for outdoor activities. A good variety of birds at the feeder including a Greater Spotted Woodpecker. We cycled around Loch Rannoch (23 fairly flat miles), climbed Craig Varr from the cottage (about 3 hours overall - superb views), walked around the Dunalastair estate and walked to the Falls of Bruar from the House of Bruar car park.

The cottage was warm and cosy with views to die for, especially looking out from the bedroom window at schiehallion first thing in the morning. The bird life around the cottage was delightful. We went out on Dunalastair Loch on two occasions, was very nice and relaxing, no trout I'm afraid, maybe the water being very calm did not help to catch. We hope to back again soon.

West Drumchastle Cottage is a wee bothy worthy of Mrs Tiggywinkle and perfect for a couple with a child or just a couple. It has been beautifully thought out and furnished and stocked with every convenience making it an incredibly cosy and romantic hideaway. The enclosed garden is a God-send for those of us with dogs as there are deer and sheep everywhere and the busy B road a hundred metres or so away. The cottage is in a great location with access to much of what is on offer in the central Highlands and it has the most astonishing uninterrupted view directly across the glen to the mighty Munro Schielhallion right from the front door. The delightful pub and village shop are a short walk or cycle away. For cyclists, the circuit route around Loch Rannoch is an easy and beautiful 2 hour jaunt...longer if you take a picnic to stop by the lochside. For us the only downside about the location is its proximity to the road (you can’t see it but can certainly hear it when in the garden) and it does detract from the otherwise very peaceful spot. It’s also a shame about the proliferation of unsightly pylons throughout this glen but then this is a sad fact of modern life.
The Dunalastair estate holiday cottages are very well run. Everything is highly professional, the Covid restrictions were well in place and Beatrice who seems to run the office, a delight to liaise with. The success of a business like this can usually be measured by how full their bookings schedule is and in this Dunalastair cottages are booked for months ahead. Thank you so much for a wonderful week.

Highly recommended, with a couple of caveats. It really is a beautiful cottage located on its own, surrounded by woodland with a stunning view of Schiehallion, both from the garden and also from the sitting room and main bedroom. The October autumn colours were incredible and a real sight to behold.

The bird feeders attract all sorts of birds, even a woodpecker who seemed particularly attracted to the peanut feeder. In addition, we had a daily visit of a male pheasant who hoovered up all the bits the other birds had discarded and scattered on the lawn.

The cottage is well equipped with all the mod cons and everything you would require, with excellent free WiFi and a wonderful wood burning stove which keeps the cottage very cosy indeed.

Our only gripe is that the bathroom was rather grubby and lets the cottage down and really needs a total refurbishment, especially the shower which has a very poor flow. In addition, the two-seater sofa, in the sitting room was rather uncomfortable.

Other than this we wouldn't hesitate to stay in this wonderful cottage again.

I will add the bathroom to our list of see what we can do, although many do like the large bath there but we will certainly investigate how we can improve it as well as look at the flow in the shower.

I was very happy with my week long stay at West Drumchastle cottage which is in a great spot for lots of hiking with my dogs.

The cottage was very clean and warm with plenty of heaters. There was no need at all to use the wood burner despite the temptation to throw a lit match into the pre-prepared kindling and enjoy the fire burning.

The cottage has everything needed, it's very well equipped. I've stayed in other cottages which have had very basic unbranded equipment (plastic kettles, toasters, microwave, etc) but everything here was good quality which was appreciated.

I also appreciated how helpful Beatrice and Rose were in dealing with a couple of my requests which were probably out of the ordinary but it was no bother at all.

The only slight disappointment was the noise from a couple of mechanical diggers and quarry truck which spent the week working in close proximity to the cottage digging up big bolders and transporting them down the path. This started early and finished late (8:30pm working in the dark one night) which meant it wasn't really possible to sit out in the garden and enjoy the hoped for peace and tranquillity.

Having said that, I appreciate that it's a working estate and these things can happen. I guess I was just unlucky with the timing and it hasn't put me off wanting to return in future.

In terms of things to do. There's not much to add to all of the great info in the guides and visitor diary's but a couple of things I did that I didn't see mentioned were,

1. Visiting the quieter roads from Fortingall to Bridge of Balgie and then down to Kiltyrie.

2. Walking from Loch Rannoch to Benalder cottage. If you do this, make sure you turn right at the gate just past the small quarry which leads you onto an old footpath across the moor (rather than just following the track).

Oh, and don't forget to look out for the bats that live in the roof. These can be seen popping in and out of the ridge right at the top of the roof, even in broad daylight!

I'm looking forward to returning at some point - there are plenty of hikes that I had on my list and a week just isn't enough.

Thanks,

Andy.

It was so beautiful there. We come back in August. The little house is so cosie and well equipped. Breakfirst outside in the garden with the few to Schihallion amazing. There were so beautiful different birds. The walk from the cottage to Kinloch Rannoch and to the few point, to the waterfall so good for us. We walk on the Craigower, different routes in the Tay forrest, visited Dundee and different gardens. The rasberry ice with fresh strawberries in the cafe in Pitlochry, was very good.

Third stay with Dunalastair Estates. First time at West Drumchastle Cottage. The location of the cottage is breathtaking with uninterrupted views over the glen to Schiehallion. The cottage itself is fully equipped and very spacious for 3 adults and a dog. The enclosed garden is safe and secure for a dog (or small children) and if you are very lucky you even get to see deer when they appear from the nearby woodlands at dusk. A short walk away is the beautiful village of Kinlock Rannock. The whole area is abundant with wildlife and extremely peaceful and quiet. I would thoroughly recommend any of the Dunalastair Cottages should you wish to visit this amazing part of the world.

If you are looking for a quiet and remote cottage, this is the place to be. Far away from the city buzz. Next to small village of Kinloch Rannoch.
The cottage is small, but efficient. It is cosy and allthough old, very well equipped.
Good working woodburner gives that romantic touch at nighttime.
Nice lay-out of the rooms, goodworking kitchen with all you might need. Bathroom is a bit old, but everything is working and all is very clean and well maintained.
Secluded garden, lots of birds and wildlife (deer) to be seen.

Cottage in great location with beautiful views. Kitchen was very well equipped and very clean and tidy .The stove kept the lounge nice and cosy and was so easy to light. Really loved the cottage and hope to go back for 2 weeks next spring.

Really enjoyed our week's stay at the cottage - the views are absolutely stunning and the cottage was warm and welcoming (especially the small touches like milk in the fridge, tea & biscuits; flowers; logs in the basket - all added to the loveliness on arrival). Great location for getting around, lots of walks and loads of wildlife. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all and relax in beautiful and peaceful surroundings.

Loved it! Very peaceful location - although it is a long drive to anywhere.
A little shabby around the edges but this just made it feel homely and relaxed. Cosy fire and great views.
Good enclosed garden for the dogs although they are small and could get under the gate! We blocked the gap with an old fence post so was no problem.
Extremely clean and well equipped.
Village a bit disappointing and shop definitely seen better days but lots to do in the wider area.

Thank you for your review and happy to hear you enjoyed your stay here on Dunalastair in West Drumchastle, which is a cosy little cottage. We will soon be coming into our quieter time where we can give the cottages a little extra tlc. We are fairly central to exploring the wider area, which most people seem to do when they stay with us.

Couldn't fault this property. Hidden away but not totally isolated. Lots of wildlife to watch. Close enough for mountain walks and riverside strolls. Village shop is close by.
Our only issue was coming back to the cottage Thursday evening, to find 2 empty coffee cups (takeaway) on the doorstep. Photos taken of the cottage from the top of Schiehallion show people walking towards the cottage. Not sure if estate staff or deer stalkers, but felt it was an invasion of privacy if the first and worrying if the second.
Would definitely recommend this cottage to others, regardless of the above. Contains everything you need and ideal for either a relaxing holiday or an action packed one.

Thank you for your nice review of West Drumchastle. It is an idyllic spot with great views of Schiehallion and equally views of the property from Schiehallion as it would appear. We are in the process of investigating the mystery of the coffee cups.

A small cottage fine for two. The secure garden was fine for our big dog. The poor weather meant a lot of time inside, the ikea Pyong chairs are not comfortable for long periods. A beautiful location and peaceful surroundings.

West Drumchastle is a typical But'n Ben and cosy for two. It does indeed have a good secure garden for dogs. We note your comment regarding the chairs and this is something we will certainly look at changing soon.

The first thing that grabs you as you arrive at the cottage is the stunning view. The cottage itself is warm and cosy with everything we could possibly want. Lots of things to do around the area especially if you enjoy walking. Would definately recommend this little cottage to friends and family.

Happy to hear you had an enjoyable stay here at Dunalastair Estate. West Drumchastle is what we Scots would term as a typical "but and ben", a small cosy cottage to getaway from it all.

This was a wonderful stay in a beautiful cottage which had some of the most inspiring views we have encountered from a country cottage. It's perfectly located for walking (we particularly enjoyed the train ride from Rannoch to Corrour and the isolated but stunning walk back). The cottage is well-equipped and warm and cosy - the fire works wonderfully and the fuel ordering is good value for money. A beautiful retreat from the pressures of city life.

Well what can I say! This cottage and location was just what the doctor ordered. So peaceful and amazing views, wild life a plenty.
The cottage was spotless and Beatrice the manager called to introduce herself and asked if we needed anything and if everything was to our satisfaction, also not to hesitate to contact her if we did come across anything.
Which I thought was lovely!
It's not the poshest of places, but what you do get is value for money, a spotless cottage, views a plenty, peace and quite (you may hear the occasional car in the distance) and wide life a plenty. Ten out of ten and we cannot wait to return next year.
What I would recommend to anyone booking, is have a Asda shop delivered. We arrived after a long drive and I'd forgotten the bread. It's not like the shop is round corner, it's a fair distance and even though we were blessed with good weather the roads need full concentration, narrow in places, deers on the road and at times big vehicle's approaching.
