My mum got us a 2 night mini break for a Christmas present we stayed in the Bask Cabin, it was very clean and comfortable lovely and warm we didn’t need the extras provided ie water bottles and blankets we loved there was no TV as we wanted this as a recharge just to relax and do some walking which the walks were so peaceful and beautiful we loved the lake and bridges and the little Japanese garden, we now want to get this as a gift for my parents and we would definitely be doing this again *****

I came here with my two children aged 13 and 15 for a relaxing few days. I was blown away by the finish of the cabins; amazing bathroom, extractor fan, heater. We’ve stayed at glamping places before, but never had facilities to this standard.
The grounds were STUNNING. I sat and read in the sunshine and it was so peaceful.
My 13 year old love the lake and went paddle boarding a few times.
We went in the outdoor pool; chilly but very invigorating and makes me thing I should take up ice baths!
The cafe did the most delicious breakfast ever (and my 15 year old appreciated being able to get wifi in there).
We visited two pubs for dinner that were recommended in the info and they were great.
All in all, we had THE BEST time. I have never gone away just me and my kids alone before but coming felt like a really wholesome and bonding experience. And I will be coming back with my other half soon!

The most delicious breakfast! Would have been nice if there was some lunch / cakes during the day too. We definitely would have eaten there. We went out for dinner in the eve, but the menu on site looked delicious.

This was our second visit to West Lexham and we will be returning next year. If you want to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings, lovely gardens and acres of space to loose yourself in this is the place for you. Enjoy a dip in the fresh water swimming pool its cold but once you get your shoulders under its lovely.

Perfect get away, we went as a family with a 5 1/2 year old. The swimming pool was equipt with inflatables for the children. There was two boats to use, badminton facilities and paddleboarding.
Cafe, cooking facilties and an all round peaceful and relaxing few days, we coukd have stayed for longer.

Wonderful stay in the bask cabin. So beautiful hearing the birdsong so close by and seeing the variety of trees all around with so much light coming into the many windows. Thank you so much to the West Lexham team for making it a memorable stay.

We enjoyed our 2 night stay in one of the lovely cabins so much! The surroundings, the swimming lake, and the quality of the accomodations were all excellent. We will be back!

I can’t begin to express how amazing the trip was, the facilities were spotless and I can’t begin to express how lovely the team up there are. No task was unmanageable, they catered to our needs beyond their agreed responsibility and supported the fact that we were travelling with children on a much lower budget than some of their guests. They were so sweet and loving. I’m definitely heading back in summer. It’s a romantic environment recommended for snowy Christmas or very warm summer

intially hated the stove idea but once you get in the grove it’s such a beautiful element, perhaps a hot plate can be in each large accommodation as larger groups require instant cooking and the traditional cooker needs time. that being said there on in the communal kitchen but the walk back and fourth was tedious.

I was here for a yoga day retreat, and decided to stay the night before and after to make a weekend of it. The surroundings were very green, rural and peaceful and the cabin fitted with the whole ethos of simple and eco friendly. It had very efficient heating with the temperature being easy to adjust. The fairy lights around the octagonal ceiling were a nice touch.
Both the night manager who greeted me on arrival and the chef cooking on the Saturday (standing in at short notice due to sickness) were friendly and helpful.
What I found strange was that despite the whole ethos of healthy home cooked food mainly from their own garden, when I arrived after a very long drive I was told I could only have pepperoni or ham pizza. When I asked if I could have a vegan one I was told all the vegetables had been picked for use for the next day so I could only have cheese and tomato (to be fair they did have vegan cheese, but I would happily have gone without any cheese and had vegetable toppings). When it came it was a thick stodgy base like you get from a supermarket with what tasted suspiciously like a jar of tomato sauce on top. Felt rather unpleasantly stuffed after it. And for cold drinks- Coca Cola and fanta! Weird.
I expressed my disappointment to the chef who made my breakfast on Saturday (and who cooked the lovely lunch for the day retreat) and she promised to make something nicer for that evening. I duly came in to find a choice of lasagne or tagine which she had made from scratch that day and both vegan. The lasagne was delicious and served with fresh salad. It was so disappointing to hear no-one else had been to the cafe to benefit from this. Perhaps the people I saw the previous night also eating the pizza had voted with their feet and gone to the pub.
This catering approach seems a rather haphazard way to run a business and I hope for the sake of this place they can find a more consistent solution, perhaps with overnight guests pre-ordering an evening meal if they want one.

Lovely tranquil stay in beautiful location and surroundings.
Slower to pace and very informal
Shame the cafe was running on limited hours/food but we were informed about this via email the day before our stay (unforeseen circumstances of staff issues)
Also cabins really clean and very cosy - could have done with a chair in the cabin

Loved our cabin stay as it has en-suite facility. The pool was a good size but only available in the afternoon. There was no service in the kitchen so we brought some food for breakfast and drove to nearby pubs for lunch/dinner.

Myself, my husband and our 5 month old baby stayed here over the weekend and we had the best time.
The cabin was super cosy for our baby and was very clean and comfortable.
The location is amazing for walks with beautiful scenery.
Great for families with small children.
The customer service was amazing we was greeted by a lovely lady who showed us around and made us feel very welcome and like nothing was too much trouble.
The staff in the cafe were super friendly.
Most definitely will be returning thank you for such beautiful memories and looking forward to making many more.

Came across West Lexham when looking for a weekend stay last minute and was provided with lots of helpful information during the booking process. The cabin wasn’t quite ready upon our arrival however all the staff could not have been more welcoming and accommodating, really friendly and knowledgeable. The cabin was warm and cosy. The grounds are beautiful, surrounded by wildlife, with plenty of places to freely explore and escape to. The outdoor pool and lake with rowing boats are a highlight. I have already recommended West Lexham to many people and will return.

I stayed here with my partner and daughter for 3 days. The grounds and cabin were super and the vegan/vegetarian restaurant was great despite the mishap with the pizza oven and occasional slow service.
The gluten free pizza and sourdough served were delicious and the vegan main dish was faultless.
This is a very special place and we are very grateful it exists. We had a wonderful stay. Thank you!

We had an amazing stay in Bask cabin, I don't think we've ever felt so relaxed. We loved the chilled out atmosphere and would definitely return. I would suggest putting a couple of tub chairs in the cabins for somewhere to sit and watch the world go by.

We had a lovely stay in the bask cabin. Which was spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Having stayed few years ago we did miss the outdoor catering area. And the pool being out of use was a Shame but
We swam in the lake. I did contact them regarding 1 of the workshops available for children but got no reply.

The setting is beautiful & relaxing. It’s just a shame they are steering away from catering for family holidays.
