When I visited in February, the serene surroundings and charming character of West Lexham led me to booking another stay, but this time with my mother. We had a lovely time, swimming in the lake and outdoor pool, visiting the surrounding coastal areas/towns, enjoying the delicious meals provided in the cafe and taking a step back from the hustle and bustle of London. The area is delightful, the accommodation and facilities are great value for money and the people who work there are helpful and engaging! Will definitely be back for a third time!
We stayed at West Lexham for our team retreat - it was a fantastic place to stay, with beautiful grounds and a real "escape from the city" atmosphere. The staff were super helpful during the planning process, and everything went very smoothly.
I came here with my two children aged 13 and 15 for a relaxing few days. I was blown away by the finish of the cabins; amazing bathroom, extractor fan, heater. We’ve stayed at glamping places before, but never had facilities to this standard. The grounds were STUNNING. I sat and read in the sunshine and it was so peaceful. My 13 year old love the lake and went paddle boarding a few times. We went in the outdoor pool; chilly but very invigorating and makes me thing I should take up ice baths! The cafe did the most delicious breakfast ever (and my 15 year old appreciated being able to get ...more
Lovely location, basic, clean accommodation but fabulously dog friendly. There were just a few things that could have been improved on our stay which may just have been unfortunate. The cafe was closed for our stay and on the first night there were no lights on so to be able to eat at tables we had to use lamps and iphones. (Some accommodation has tables but the smaller ones do not.) It was lovely to have dogs with us but they would bring dirt into the room so a way to sweep/clean would have been useful (as would a dog washing station as they jumped into a few stagnant ponds!). There was...more
We were greeted very warmly by Henry who gave us a tour of the site, and explained the history of it and facilities. Treehouse was really clean and stove kept it very warm. Our dog loved the walks around the site, and even sat in the boat with us to row on it... Showers, bathroom and toilets, very clean, decorated quirkily and lovely organic grapefruit wash toiletries provided. We will definitely return next year but take extra lighting as some of our fairy light bulbs on one of the three tree trunks were not working, also a small stove for tea/coffee ( provided) so we don't need to wal...more
We all loved staying at tilia treehouse very quirky. Found the beds lovely and comfortable. The surroundings are beautiful. You have everything you need at treehouse or in your surroundings. Clean and well equipped. Would highly recommend staying at west Lexham treehouses I have already recommended to others and will definitely come back at some point. Sharon
Another lovely stay at the Owl Treehouse. Very relaxing , comfortable , warm and cozy. There were ample amount of logs and kindling and was very welcome as I had the wood burner lit most of the time .
The cabin was clean and welcoming. Had a great shower which was powerful and hot! Some lovely touches such as fairy lights around the ceiling gave the cabin a cosy atmosphere. The grounds of West Lexham are beautiful, especially around the walk around the lake. We would have like a bigger bed in the cabin as it was small for two adults and a second pillow each would make it more comfortable. The sign to the entrance gate was very difficult to see in the dark.
We returned to West Lexham for a family weekend for 21 of us after our first stay 8 years ago. The first time we stayed in the Barn and accommodation but this time we stayed in the Village Hall plus 3 cabins as the Barn was unavailable. We liked the ambience of the Village Hall and the bedrooms which were attached to it were all comfortable and pleasant. The 3 cabins were also great but couples found the beds rather small. The kitchen attached to the Village Hall was not very well equipped for self catering for a large number of people but we have taken up points about this with West Lexham St...more
We loved our stay in the Sunrise treehouse - it’s a magical place to stay with children. The stained glass window and mezzanine are beautiful and make for a very relaxing space. The on-site bathrooms are lovely and there was plenty of hot water. The only downside is no toilet in the treehouse but it was worth it. A perfect place to escape to, we didn’t want to leave.
The place is soo calming and relaxing- perfect for a few nights to just relax! the fire at night is just bliss!
A beautiful tranquil place to stay to get away from everything lovely walks will visit in the summer as the cafe and swimming pool was not open when we visited Great to get away from everything and just relax owner was very nice and helpful nothing was too much
Cabin was comfortable and had a nice vibe due to the shape of the cabin which is octagonal. Its lovely to wake up with the trees around you.
I went on a retreat day which was absolutely fabulous. The grounds and facilities were outstanding. We booked to stay in a bell tent as it was quite a distance to go for just the day. I know its glamping but for the price i was expecting a little more. Firstly there were 4 tents situated very close to each other. I thought having 22 acres they would have been spaced out more giving everyone a little more privacy and space to themselves. The tents were ok inside, nothing special. Even though the weather was warm the bedding provided was very thin and we got very cold in the night. Don'...more
Had a lovely relaxing weekend , lovely little cabin in a beautiful setting , just what was needed to switch off !
We had an amazing stay at west Lexham. Our children really wanted a camping experience and this was the perfect compromise. Comfortable beds and amazing shower facilities. Even managed a relaxing hot bubble Bath one evening. The tents were well equipped with with blankets and hot water bottles. The only downside would be in the mornings the tent felt quite damp probably a combination of sleeping bodies and the cold morning air so not a major issue. Perfect place to go off grid from technology. Really enjoyed the pool, the boating lake and the fire pit. Our family dog had some great long ...more
Excellent all round one suggestion would be to buy a bigger toaster in the restaurant 4 of us had toast for breakfast but it took ages for the waitress to cook the toast.
Westlexham is a beautiful site with clean and modern facilities. The host during our stay, Henry, was incredibly polite, helpful and accommodating to our large group. The food was delicious with many ingredients grown on site. However there were a couple of drawbacks. Once the cafe and indoor seating area was closed for the day (after brunch on Sunday) there were no outdoor spaces that were warm and dry for groups to congregate. We ended up using our hot water and blankets to keep warm whilst sitting on the outdoor decking, however the light and shelter were inadequate so we had to draw the ni...more
The property was lovely. The tent was really clean and comfortable. I was honestly surprised with how comfortable the bed was. I didn't realize they were providing a towel and a hot water bottle so that was a nice touch. It was lovely to have use of the gas BBQ and the fire pit. The communal kitchen area could have used a little work but grateful for the space. It would have been nice if a bit more guidance was provided - i.e. dishes here - cups here - utensils in separated drawers. There were no tea towels on the second day so not really sure how to dry things. These are minor things....more
We absolutely loved our stay at West Lexham. The grounds, the pool, the food, the self-catering facilities and the restaurant were all absolutely out of this world. The only things that let us down was a broken bed during our stay (this was very quickly drilled back into place), an uncomfortable bed/mattress that made a horrendous noise every single time we moved in the night, and a broken hot water bottle that leaked out onto the bed and burned me when I got in. I left the water bottle in question outside our bell tent on the chair. The others worked fine. Overall our stay was lovely but the ...more
We had a lovely long weekend at West Lexham Glamping. We booked 5 Bell tents for 5 separate families. The tents are great, the grounds are beautiful and the children loved the pool. The bathrooms are really lovely and the kitchen facilities were fine for what we needed. One evening we had a bbq and one evening we ate in the garden kitchen resturant which was delicious and a great service. The only suggestions for improvements would be having somewhere communal we could sit when it rained and having more facilities to dry out wet things from the beach and the pool.
