Six individually furnished cottages located on a riverside farm. Salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing on our own stretch of the Tweed. All weather tennis court. Excellent walking and abundant wildlife (otters, badgers, deer and fantastic variety of birds) all on the farm. Five minutes drive from historic Berwick-upon-Tweed and excellent beaches. Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Alnwick, Cheviot Hills and Scottish Borders towns all within 45 mins drive.
A return to West Ord for a second New Year lived up to our expectations. A lovely welcome and a lovely, homely stay with an open fire to enjoy. Carol makes you feel like you are her regular neighbour, not just for a week or two, and is always on hand to sort out any problems or give information.
We have been staying at West Ord for 20 years and we love it. The cottages are spotless, well equipped and comfortable. Carol and Sandy are so welcoming and will do anything they can to make your stay a good one. The surrounding area is wonderful, stunning beaches and amazing walks. There’s supermarkets and a petrol station nearby and plenty to do.
Eden cottage was ideal for us. Just the right size for two people and in a beautiful peaceful location. The accommodation was first class and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. The bed was a little too firm for me but this is just a personal preference and certainly wouldn’t put me off a return visit.
Once in a while you find a cottage that stands out from the others. Geary Shiel is one of those for us. Situated a stone's throw from the Tweed it feels remote (the nearest house in England must be half a mile away, and out of sight) but Berwick-upon-Tweed just 4 miles away. The cottage itself was warm (we stayed in October), clean and comfy, and the large bed was excellent. I deal for a couple looking to get away from it all for a while. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
