Had another wonderful stay at Headlands, love the lodge it’s decorated beautifully and the setting is tranquil. The customer service is amazing and everyone is friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the pizza evening and had a wonderful meal sat beside the lake whilst my husband fished. Thank you we will be back again. Xxx

Lovely location, very relaxing atmosphere. Up on arrival to the cabin it was very beautiful and clean my reason for a 4/5 for cleanliness is because when we got into bed we noticed a musky smell coming from the bed cover it smelt as if it had not been dried properly so was a damp smell . The complementary continental breakfast left for us was a lovely addition,
except the bread was dated use by for the dat of arrival not the "morning" this was also known by the staff who put it in the cabin and i know yhis as the date was crossed off with pen trying to bed hid.... Breakfast in the cafe was absolutely amazing. . Owners are very friendly

Beautiful lodges in a lovely setting . The owners have really worked hard to ensure your every need is catered for . Love the addition of the padel court although I didn’t play it was lovely to see other people
Enjoying it . Cafe is also wonderful with great quality local produce and selection of yummy cakes ! Local for me but a lovely reset ! Thankyou

We have had the most relaxing weekend at Mallard Lodge, the birds the scenery, the fish everything was calm and so beautiful.
The lodge was equipped with what we needed and the coffee shop which I visit quite often was amazing as always.
The only little problem was the mattress on the bed was not comfortable, you could feel the metal springs, and the bbq slabs were broken and loose I'm guessing due to the heat but this could collapse and cause a accident and a fire
otherwise everything was amazing and really want to try another lodge next time

I thoroughly enjoyed the peace by the lake and the lodge was so cozy. A lot of effort has gone into customising the lodges and the finishing touches. I loved watching the birds on the feeder right outside.

I would highly recommend if you are there on a Friday to get a pizza from the cafe, it was truly delicious. I didn’t want to leave and I’ll certainly be back again.

This was our 3rd visit to Headlands and overall it’s a lovely place.
But this time I was a little disappointed, Mallard states two fishing swims however one was totally unfishable due to a massive weed bed, I understand weed grows during the summer but this should be cleared if the description offers two swims.
Also the two berth lodges also state a two burner hob in the kitchen, they only have one, we have stayed in Mallard and Kingfisher, both had just one burner.
But as I said the place is very nice, but I just feel a couple of things could be improved.

Having stayed at numerous lodges over the last few years, this is up there with the best. A combination of comfort and fishing on the doorstep was what I was looking for and Mallard didn't disappoint. Add the convenience of the cafe and you have a complete package. Will definitely come again and look forward to trying my luck on both lakes again.
