2 Fountains Cottage, a Pennine Ways Holiday Cottage, is a deceptively spacious and beautifully renovated holiday home in the quiet village of Greenhead, just five minutes from Haltwhistle and close to the historic Hadrian’s Wall. Sleeping up to six guests, it features a cosy living room with a wood-burning stove. The spacious, well-equipped kitchen and dining area are ideal for sociable meals, while three comfortable bedrooms include a king-size master with en-suite. Modern bathrooms, off-road parking, secure bike storage, and a peaceful setting make this an excellent base for walking, cycling, sightseeing, and enjoying the stunning surrounding Northumberland and Pennine countryside throughout the year, in all seasons conditions.

We stayed here for three nights due to it's location to Hadrian's Wall (10 mins from Housesteads and Vindolanda). The cottage is spacious and feels large mainly due to the ground floor being open plan making it light inside. The kitchen is very well appointed with everything one could want and clearly a lot of thought has gone into its presentation (not old tat from some house clearance sale). The three bedrooms all have very comfortable beds. Out the back is a lovely courtyard garden which gets the sun into the evening. The cottage is on a quiet road and only two doors away from the local Hotel/Pub which was also quiet and well appointed with a good range of local beers. The food here was also excellent and remarkably good value at £23 for a two course meal during the week and made to a high standard. Over the road is the village cafe, which is also excellent value. 50 yards away from the cottage are two electric charging points, which never had a car at them so perfect for a stress free journey in an EV. The nearest petrol station is 10 mins away at Haltwhistle, a good-sized market town with everything one could want. Being located in the National Park you are surrounded by beauty with lovely walks straight from the front door. We would happily stay here again. Very highly recommended.
