Being only 4 of us and two Giant Schnauzers, the house may seem slightly large. However, it fitted our purpose exactly and was very welcoming. A roaring fire in the evening and fabulous views in the daytime this house had everything we needed. The dogs enjoyed their time both in the enclosed garden and wider afield. It is a working farm so unless your dog is sheep and cattle trained and friendly, it needs to be on a lead. There are many walks and for those slightly more energetic a fantastic walk to the top of the estate. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend any of the lodg...more
Exactly as advertised …with additional unexpected treats …getting out of your car and your senses being hit with what sadly most of us are missing …the sounds, sights and smells of nothing but nature. Heavenly. Remote Loch fishing …and sweet treat on arrival …I could go on but want to keeps this place a selfish secret
Five of us spent a wonderful week at beautiful Clachandubh Cottage. The setting is just breathtaking, and the clean and cheerful cottage has been brilliantly kitted out, and is so warm and welcoming. Willa and Angus were very helpful and kind. The homemade flapjacks on arrival were gobbled up very quickly! Our children particularly loved the birds and the sheep, who were funny and lovely neighbours. The area is stacked full of wonderful places to visit. Highlights were Inveraray, and a visit to Tarbert capped off with a trip on The Waverley paddle steamer. We are excited about our next vis...more
We loved our 2 week stay at Finchairn Farmhouse with our two dogs. We had originally booked the school house and was upgraded as the school house was unexpectedly unavailable. Thank you for the upgrade as the scenery was stunning. We so enjoyed waking up each morning to the fabulous scenery and the spectical of the acrobatic house martins. A few other highlights of being on a working farm was coming back from a walk to the relaxing sound of the birds and farm animals. Also sitting in front of the roaring wood burner after a satisfying day out exploring the many wonderful things to do in the ar...more
We had a fantastic week in Ederline Farm Cottage as a family of four plus dog. The cottage is bigger than we expected and is really well equipped, a real home from home. We loved the countryside location and the kids loved strolling down to the loch to fish - they caught some amazing pike - and also managed some paddle boarding. We also spent an afternoon up at the boathouse - it was a bit of a trek to get there and definitely needed a 4 x 4 to get there but was a beautiful spot. Was a bit too windy for paddeboarding but was a beautiful spot to sit and spend a few hours relaxing with a fire an...more
The cottage is spacious for 6 people, we were 5 and found a comfortable home in the quiet lower hillside at Loch Awe. Several walks and areas to discover in the surrounding area, with valuable hints and a very well prepared guest guide including specific maps. Willa is very responsive and helpful and everything seemed to be carefully regulated. The kitchen is really equipped with everything you need, we cooked a lot! I can fully recommend the cottage for a relaxing stay (no problem without WiFi) and letting nature take the lead.
My first time in South Lodge after many visits to stay in Clachandubh. Utter peace, gorgeous views and a well-equipped base for many local places of interest. I haven't slept so well for a long time ! Deliciously cool retreat on the three days of crazily high temperatures (29° on one of them), but a bit on the cool side my first evening when the technology defeated me ! I also found the stove difficult to operate without any instructions. Willa and Angus always come to the rescue ! A total delight, and zi can't wait to return.
