Perched on the outskirts of a charming Welsh village, Birch Cottage is nestled in the grounds of a storybook 17th-century estate. Surrounded by rolling greenery, the cottage is only a short distance from the attractions of Wrexham, Llangollen and Chester.

Great stay in a perfect location

This was the perfect location to enjoy a family reunion as Marchwiel had been my home as a child. The entry instructions were perfect and everything was exactly as we had expected. The owners have renovated the cottages beautifully and it was great to know they were the former gamekeepers cottages for the Marchwiel Hall Estate. Every consideration had been made in the kitchen and all utensils you would ever need were available. A loaf of bread, butter, and fresh milk awaited our arrival. The cottage was dog friendly and we had two, they were upset about restrictions especially as the grounds were extensive (Keep on a lead at all times) which stopped their fun but the Erddig Hall estate was close by with plenty of open spaces. Overall I would recommend Birch Cottage (And Cherry next door) as a lovely secluded bolthole yet still close to the city of Wrexham and within travelling distace to North Wales prime locations. Locally we used the Boat at Erbistock for Sunday lunch which was outstanding both in terms of food, service and location. You are onto a winner if your book your stay through Oyster Cottages.
